We have three Australian Shepard's and come here once a month to get groomed. I drive past 4 other shops that are within a mile of my house to take my dogs here. All I can say customer service is amazing and they are very nice to the dogs and get them done in a timely manner. Have nothing but positive things to say about this place and will continue to use them. I've been taking my dog Myles here for over 3 years and he just loves it. When I tell him "let's go to school" he knows exactly what I'm talking about. He gets so excited, he can hardly wait to go. He loves interacting with the other dogs. I wouldn't even think of any other place for him. The staff is AWESOME. This place is horrible! My dog ALWAYS smells like pee and has unexplained bruises. The dogs are not properly looked after and from what I've noticed during times I've been there, the staff is rude and constantly in their phones. My dog has come home shaking and has highly unusual behavior. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place! The trainer is horrible at following up with appointments and leaves questions unanswered. I will NEVER bring my pets to this place again! If you want safety, love and comfort for your dogs this place will absolutely let you down! It's dirty and unkept as well. When people say that the facility is dirty or even filthy in the review, I'm not sure what they're talking about. This is our 4th dog but first time to send Rover on over. He's a puppy and each time we bring him they seem pretty fanatical about cleaning, if a dog pees they're on it immediately with sanitary spray. Also the young dogs are separated from the older dogs and everything is very controlled. We really enjoyed the puppy play because we know how important it is for socialization at an early age. Very happy with Val and her staff. On a side note, As a small business owner, I really do believe that Yelp reviewers who take time out to rate small businesses one or two stars really need to think about the impact that they have before they casually throw out nasty reviews...or better yet take up a hobby like scrapbooking. My dog Bailey has been going to Send Rover on over for two years. We took her to get socialized there as a puppy and has been going ever since. My 22week old dog LOVES send Rover on Over. I began with the puppy K class when he was 9 wks old...(which I HIGHLY recommend) and now he is just about finished with the AKC Good Citizen class. He is WELL socialized to other dogs and people. He attends daycare there now...which he totally looks forward too. The staff are amazing and truly enjoy their jobs, take great care of the dogs and provide a safe environment for my pooch while I'm at work. I HIGHLY recommend Send Rover On Over and would suggest visiting them and speaking with their puppy trainer even prior to getting a puppy. She has been invaluable to me! read more

My puppy Phoebe has been a regular at SROO for the last 8 months or so. She has grown into a wonderfully social, happy, well-adjusted dog. She spends the day playing with a pack of similarly socialized dogs and lovely caregivers, and I have the peace of mind knowing she is physically and mentally engaged when I'm at work. This is absolutely invaluable to me. Drop off and pick up is a breeze, and I cannot say enough good things about the awesome staff--they are part of Phoebe's extended family now, and it is obvious that she loves them very much! In the mornings, I drop off a very excited pup, and in the evenings I get back a totally wiped out but very happy little girl. When my husband and I were looking for a safe place to board our dog while on vacation, we wanted a place that truly had someone on staff who stayed the night with him and didn't just lock him in a crate. Our dog is used to sleeping with us at night and that's what we wanted for him. I had heard that some places 'say' some is there, but really isn't. Send Rover on Over was so great, they allowed me to see the room he would stay in and there is an area for a staff member to sleep with TV. Our dog loves day care and overnights at Send Rover on Over. I also recently needed a new groomer b/c we were using one of those BIG NAME stores, but they snipped his pad when trimming his nails. He was not happy. Since he loves Send Rover on Over so much, we signed him up for grooming on a day he was there for daycare and it was perfect. He came home nice and tired from playing all day and clean from his bath! I highly recommend this facility to anyone I know who has a pet! read more

This place is fabulous. I have been sending my dogs here for years. My doberman puppy scratches at their door to get in. I found the place immaculate and watch on the web can while I work and a happy tired puppy when I pick her up in the afternoon. Also, I often board my puppy there and have her groomed. It is so easy. I have a dog that has never been trained before and is not always friendly with people she doesnt know. Well valeri came over to help me train my bella. Bella loved her. She handles dogs wonderful. Valeri has such confidence in what she does it really shows with her teaching. Bella learned more today then I thought she ever would. Im so grateful for her training me also. Send rover on over gets five stars from us. Sparky has attended half day Daycare twice and boarded with them for two nights and three days. Each visit sparky has pulled me in because he was so happy to be there. When he boarded he ate well and the staff told me he made many new friends. Each time sparky came home happy and exhausted. Poor service. Signed up for puppy kinder, heard they were strict on making sure all puppies were kept up with shots. No one ever asked for proof of my puppy shots, doubt anyone else was asked for proof either. Val was concerned with the noise ordinance and warning they had received so because of my dog's barking we were asked to leave during our first class and walk around the building. I contacted Val for a refund which I was told twice in email I would get but never saw. Months went by, I gave up asking. read more

They take great care of my dog and I don't worry about him a blink if I need to board him or take him for a day of play. My dog has a great time at Send Rover Over but after a visit, he does revert back to some bad habits, namely humping other dogs and jumping up on people, both of which we have worked very hard to train out of him. The owner of Send Rover on Over, Valerie is an amazing trainer. At home we have nicknamed her the dog whisperer and in one visit with our hyper Boston Terrier she made a huge difference. One of her recommendations was to buy the easy walk harness from her center as our puppy loved to pull when we walked her. Since we have bought the harness she has stopped pulling! Valerie also gave us essential tools to use at home with her training and her method is positive reinforcement which my husband and I love. In addition she suggested agility training and we participated in our first class last week. Of course our puppy was scared on her first run through but by the second time she was a natural. It was a fun thing to do with your dog and it also tests their memory and confidence on the course. We are signed up again for this Saturday! read more

I took my terrier to this daycare. She had terrible separation anxiety and daycare was recommended. After 2 visits she seemed like a different dog. More relaxed and content in everyday life, and shortly after the separation anxiety started going away. The positive reinforcement and socialization did an amazing work in her and I feel like I cannot thank send rover on over enough. You guys are the best!!! read more

Here's a short history that juxtaposes the two options for dog daycare in Ventura. Send Rover on Over (SRoO) was the only option for many years. Our dogs went there about 10x/year, primarily during winter rains to get exercise when their daily dog park visit was not an option. The first thing that struck both my spouse and I on our first, and every visit that followed, was a pungent smell of stale dog urine. Initially, we chalked it up to the challenges of having many dogs go through her facility. The staff at SRoO was always pleasant to my spouse and me; the owner, however, was a different story. I dreaded my interactions with her, she either dispensed a surly attitude or channeled some unwanted Caesar Milan-like advice to me or other patrons within earshot. While tiresome and annoying, I dealt with it, since it was the only option around. On multiple visits to SRoO, I viewed silently from outside or from within the lobby as the staff and dogs interacted. In all these viewings, I noticed that beyond prevention of potential dog aggression from toys, cleaning up poop, or ensuring no injuries during play, the staff interacted little with the dogs. What bothered us most was that over 6 years, on EVERY visit our 50 and 65lbs dogs had to be dragged physically into the play area at each visit. We listened to them whine as we left them behind. When picking them up, our dogs would run out to meet us and act as if they just endued an 8-hour vet's examination. My spouse and I chalked it up to separation anxiety. Well, that was not exactly right. Shortly after Doggin' Around opened, I stopped by the facility and spoke to one of the owners about the facility. She took me on a tour of the facility, explained how it runs, and let me meet her staff. The place was clean and a bit Spartan and not my image of what a dog daycare should be, but it was clean with no smell of urine. My spouse and I figured that we should try it once to see if our dogs liked it. On our first visit, we had to drag both our dogs, just like at SRoO, into through the play area door and listen to them whine as we left. Upon picking them up, instead of my pups running to me as if they were getting their temperatures taken by the vet for 8 hours, I got back very happy dogs that were borderline euphoric. My spouse and I decided to try Doggin' Around again to see if it was a fluke. On next visit, my dogs wagged their tails and required no effort to go into the play area. They walked in on their own. After six years, of dragging them into the SRoO play area, this was a refreshing shock. Upon pick up later that day, I walked into the lobby; apparently, the staff did not hear the door chime over the barking, so without their knowledge, I watched them interact with all the dogs in the play area for about 20 minutes. My dogs were enthralled playing chase the ball. The staff member throwing the ball was smiling, laughing, and encouraging the dogs by name. What really made me warm up to the place was watching another staff member sit by an older dog quietly disengaged from the other dogs and pet it. It was not one of my dogs, but watching the dog's tail wag and seeing the staff member showing genuine affection for the dog was wonderful. After that visit, SRoO has never gotten our business again. Sadly, our 65lb friend died of old age about a year after we found Doggin' Around, but got to enjoy it for that time. Our 50lb 14 year old is still with us. By happenstance, we now have three additional dogs to keep her company. It gives me an absolute thrill to drop all four dogs off at Doggin' Around, watch them stand impatiently at the outer door until I open it, and then en masse push open the inner door to get to the play area with no human assistance. No dragging required, just euphoric dog energy to go play. They love Doggin' Around! The staff does small things that show they are committed to their customers and their customers' owners. One thing they shared from this past Halloween, they put a silly costume on each of our dogs and snapped a photograph with a "Happy Halloween" backdrop. It is clear to my spouse and I how deeply the staff recognizes the trust we place in them for caring for our beloved dogs and how they know to have fun with them. They had very little turnover in three years of their staff and there is a notable affection the staff shows for the dogs in their care. I have viewed the staff intermittently over the years, without their knowledge, interacting with their charges and found that the staff still engages with the dogs in the same manner. After being a customer to Doggin' Around for three years, less than half the time we took our dogs to SRoO, my spouse and I would not even consider returning to Send Rover on Over regardless of the circumstances. Our pack's excited barking and frenetic cries as I pull into the driveway followed by their bounding into the play area shows us that Doggin' Around is the far better choice. read more

the place is disgusting...dirty and smells bad...I took my dog there when he was a puppy...they have this stupid rule to put the dogs in cages for naps...my little guy was not used to being in a cage so he was crying...I came to pick him up earlier than I was supposed too...I found him in a cage in the bathroom in the dark...all alone...OMG...I was furious...Doggin' around is great...dogs are free at all times..no cages and the place is spot clean!!! read more
