The Switzerland Inn was a great stop during our Finger Lakes trip. The waterfront views were beautiful, and despite the heat, the umbrella at our table kept things comfortable. I was also surprised by how few bugs were around considering the location. The food was a little pricey, but the quality and flavor helped justify it. The burger was well prepared, the toppings were fresh, and the fries were hot and crispy. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the wait at the end. After receiving the check and having our card ready, it took a bit longer than expected for someone to return and process payment. Not a huge issue, but noticeable with our pup getting restless. A great local place with beautiful waterfront seating. The servers are always friendly and we've met many locals- and visitors- who are very regular patrons. The menu features classic pub foods- wings, pizza, burgers & several seafood entrees. While I'm not a seafood eater- my friends that are caution they are not good. The best spot for that romantic dinner if you're visiting Hammondsport NY. We were pleasantly surprised because from the outside it doesn't match the beautiful interior. There's many different inside & outside sections you can choose to sit at and the staff is very helpful. The delicious food came out quick and everything was so great. My lobster bisque was wonderfully creamy and used the bread from the salad to soak it all up. The entree I chose, Jammin Burger, was exactly how I like it cooked and the jam was a perfect blend of sweet & spice. My fiancé's pink vodka dish might be the best Italian dish we've ever had. We went here yesterday and overall we were very disappointed for these reasons. Our bill was $100 for two burgers, 2 drinks, and an appetizer. Now if they were all good items I might have been ok BUT my wife's margarita was literally smaller than a teacup with a huge ice cube in it that filled the glass. My beer, a Modelo, was in a miniature bottle, and each of our burgers were nothing special with buns that were dry and fell apart as you tried to hold them to eat the burgers. Oh yes and we got the steamed clams as an appetizer and they were so small that it was good that they came with a mini-fork and did not come with bread. Several of the shells had no clams in them. So needless to say we do not recommend this place and will not be back. read more

Very confusing as all the signage says "The Switz"...but anyway! This place is great! The bartender made me a three dots and a dash that was incredible. My partner got a Bloody Mary that was pretty much a meal in a pint glass, and she loved it! On top of the great drinks, the view of the lake was spectacular! Highly recommend read more

Nicole did a wonderful job welcoming us to dinner and providing amazing service throughout our meal. We were seated on the outdoor patio and had an amazing view of the sunset as we dined. Our drinks were refreshing, the food was served piping hot. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie we took home for dessert was one of the best ones we tried around Keuka Lake. I enjoyed the chunks of Reese's peanut butter cups throughout the mousse filling! We had lunch there with outside seating and a beautiful lake view. The server was good and food came out a short time after our order. The Mediterranean salad with a huge amount of chicken and Greek dressing looked great when it came out and was enough for two meals. The chicken wrap also looked good when brought out. The problem was that the chicken in both meals lacked seasoning and so was bland. The Greek dressing was not the usual Olive oil, lemon juice and fresh herbs but creamier like a ranch. I'm not sure if it was the creamier dressing, artichokes, or something else but I had a slight stomach ache (acid reflux) after eating less than half the meal. Do y'all see the view in my photos? This place is right on the water so you can see the beautiful lake in all its sunset glory. We asked to be seated outside and besides the mosquitos and heat, the view did not disappoint. I asked my server what was their sweetest red wine and she recommended the Hazlitt Red and I legit wanted to get a bottle. It was brought to me chilled and tasted so delightful. I'm such a sucker for sweet wine. My boyfriend got a spiked lemonade and clearly liked it enough to get 2. We got the spinach dip which was really delicious and I got a pasta while he got fish and fries. Both were reasonably priced and the ambiance of the seating outside just made the dinner all the better. I highly recommend to eat it if you're ever in the area. It's only 15-20 minutes from Beaver Dams and Watkins Glen so we're glad we made the drive. read more

This place right off Keuka Lake has been around since 1894. They offer dining inside or out. Our party of three had an inside table. The staff is friendly and attentive and it was busy with tourists like us as well as locals. Our dinners came with a nice sized salad. Our main courses were quite substantial and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We ordered the Finger Lakes Penne (chicken, sun dried tomatoes, broccoli and shrimp), Lake Sautéed Shrimp and Scallops Scampi and a Honey Glazed Salmon. Hate to be a dick but here's the deal. Really nice staff. Terrible food. Staff- 3 stars. 4 for effort, 2 for experience. Food- 1.5 stars. Literally every thing was terrible. Daughters had quesadilla, and Mac and cheese. Wife had a wrap. I had a chicken Caesar salad. The chicken seemed like it came out of a can. Couldn't eat it. So much potential in this place. Quality does nor reconcile with cost. While tasty, the entrees are overpriced for the quality presented. We ordered the scallops appetizer for $20. 4 quarter sized scallops. You got to be kidding. Shrimp and scallop scapi came with a bowl full of spaghetti, but there were only 3 scallops and 5 small shrimp for $35. Salad was small. The $38 NY Strip was average as compared to the $25 texas roadhouse steak of the same size and better quality. No bread. A half filled 8oz wine glass cost $15 for a house brand. The three stars are mostly for the fun vibe, the wonderful server and the great view of Lake Keuka. Our server Kaylie was excellent, cheerful and helpful. The daily special salad with salmon did have delicious sweet fresh strawberries and red grapes, good feta crumbles and lots of field greens. The salmon was tasty but a little too well done; it was moist enough to be enjoyable. I disliked the concord grape salad dressing; tasted like mayo. There were several things that detracted from my enjoyment of the meal. The knife I was given had sticky food residue, so I made do without a knife; the salad didn't really need one. The ladies' room was smelly, dusty, dirty and full of flies; whoever cleans the bathroom is skipping a lot of spots. The ladies room I used, which is right in the middle of the restaurant where people are dining, had a sign not to lock the door since it gets stuck; this is unacceptable; I locked the door and hoped for the best. The new bartender, who our server said is "in training," screwed up my husband's drink order. At first, I was happy because we were seated directly by a window overlooking the lake. This was a curse, since it was a hot sunny day and the sun coming in the windows was uncomfortably warm. Apparently Switz doesn't believe in air conditioning? This restaurant tends to be very busy, especially with patrons who arrive by boat and dock directly in front of the restaurant. 9/3/23 Party of 5 +1 year old. 2 of 5 ordered the Chicken bacon swiss w/o tomato. (1) was 18.99. (1) was $14.99. Then as to not have a dry sandwich asked for mayo with them and one to sub onion for the tomato. Was charged for the mayo $1.04 eachx2 and $1.04 for the onion on one. All-in-all overcharged $7 plus 20% tip. We're local and not on vacation meaning we frequent local establishments. Some of the food was great - The nachos. Some of the food - no so much - their homemade mac n cheese was lacking flavor - needed salt. The Fish Fry also needed salt. We needed some things and our waitress was nowhere to be found. Needed extra napkins - no waitress. Needed drink refills - no waitress. Needed salt and pepper for our bland food - no waitress. The table next to ours was getting ready to leave and they had a salt and pepper shaker on their table. I got up and asked them if I could take theirs. The lady said " Of course you can have it. We needed to ask for salt for our food, too.". This is a very telling sign about their food. I don't know what they had for dinner but that is two sets of tables with food that lacked flavor. Regarding the waitress, the nachos came - no plates. The dessert came no fork. The coffee came - it was ice cold. I don't know if it is because we are getting to the end of the season that things are falling apart. read more

Food was average. Cocktails were very good. View was awesome AND you can take your boat there! That said...Service wasn't very good. Watch your bill. We were a party of 8. Our server (Kelsey) added 22% tip to our bill but menu says gratuity added for large parties is 18%. On a whim, my wife and I decided to try out The Switzerland Inn for dinner on a Tuesday evening while traveling in the area. We wanted a view of Lake Keuka, and this restaurant was suggested as a place where we could sit on a balcony overlooking the lake, so off we went. It was around 6:30, but the restaurant was not really busy at all. We were seated immediately outside on the balcony, with another couple sitting a few tables down from us. Our server was a very nice, very helpful young woman. I ordered lobster bisque to begin with, and my wife had a salad. Both were quite good. For our main courses, I had broiled haddock and my wife had horseradish encrusted salmon. My haddock was ok, but nothing great; though it had a spinach and tomato topper, it was generally quite dry and had little taste. My wife's salmon, however, was tasty. As sides, we had sweet potato fries and onion rings; both were good. When the server mentioned that they had a peanut butter pie on the dessert menu, I had to have it though I was already full. It was absolutely delicious! The one aspect of our dinner at The Switz that detracted from the evening was the group placed next to us on the patio. Six people, headed by an older woman named Sissy who seemed to be a regular at the restaurant, were placed a table really only large enough for four. There was plenty of room on the balcony for them to be seated without crowding in next to us, and further down two tables could have been put together to accommodate them more comfortably. "Sissy" immediately had the umbrella removed from the table and seemed to hold court among the group of people obviously several decades younger than she. They were loud and obnoxious the whole time. One guy, whom I took to be her son or grandson, kept talking about his girlfriend from Michigan who wanted them to travel there so that he could meet her parents and hike. All he did was talk incredibly loudly about how he doesn't want to see her parents, doesn't want to hike, and expects to be waited on and to get drunk every night when he's on vacation. (I'd dump this superficial jerk if I were she.) Why the servers chose to put this loud group, whom it was obvious they knew as regulars at the restaurant, all around one table and smushed up next to us when there was so much more room further down, is beyond me. So, do I recommend this restaurant? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on what you're looking for. If not for the loud table next to us, we would have had a much more pleasant experience. Try it if you want.
