Come prepared to be overwhelmed and to question everything that you already thought you were going to pick out when it comes to tile. Seriously, Home Depot is for chumps. There is no other place that you should shop for tile. Even the clearance items are nice tiles and nothing here is hideous. The prices compared to Home Depot are phenomenal and the selection gives you options that you had no idea that you needed. The staff is helpful and will serve up option after option based on what you tell them you're looking for and then if you're like me, you'll completely change the plan when presented with those options. I've been to three locations in San Diego. Most staff are friendly and helpful. They are not always knowledgeable. They send me to other stores and then I get different information. I went to the Sherman location and was told by Angel that to see a slab I would have to wait 30 minutes because someone in the warehouse went to lunch. After 50 minutes of waiting I found a warehouse person who finally helped me. I also learned there are many dye lots for each tile. So what you get may not look like the sample they have up in the store. The tile I chose has 16 dye lots and what was delivered does not look like what I picked. Very disappointing. read more

I had to take a moment to recognize one of the workers at Floor & Decor today--his name is Jay. He's a tall Black guy with dreads, and he was honestly one of the most helpful and charismatic employees I've come across. What really stood out was that even while he was clearly in a rush handling his own orders (I kept hearing calls for him over and over), he still took the time to help me without hesitation. He helped me figure out backsplash flooring options and even went over measurements with me, making sure I understood everything before I left. That alone made the whole process way less stressful. Dude was super sweaty, running back and forth, but still stayed professional and made sure I got everything I needed. On top of that, he was communicating with his team and figuring things out all at once--it looked like a lot to handle, and he managed it smoothly. Honestly, if I come back, I'd go out of my way to find him specifically. I just felt way more comfortable talking to him than anyone else there. Seriously , I don't even think I could deal with that level of stress the way he did. Great attitude, strong work ethic, and just overall solid energy. I'm an interior designer and remodeler so I shop at Floor & Decor frequently. Today I went for a large purchase of bathroom tile for a client. Not only did Keane help me load all the large format tile onto my flatbed cart (it was super heavy) then Jesus came over to get everything entered into his handheld device, and send a payment link to my client who is currently in AZ. She paid remotely, sent me a copy of the receipt to show at the register, then Jesus escorted me to my car to load up all my purchases. They were super polite and professional, and stepped up even before I asked for assistance. But I needed over the phone service and I ended up having to call the New York store (Brooklyn) because in San Diego they don't answer their phone, you get disconnected or you get put on permanent hold. Brian and Issac are outstanding! I came in by myself with my baby and needed help picking out floor tile to coordinate with a discontinued tile on my shower walls. Not only did they take the time to carefully consider each possibility in store, they asked me about factors I'd never thought of -- like what color the vanities are-- and made a great suggestion I wouldn't have thought of. Then based on the limited information I had the calculated the square feet of each floor area and selected the perfect amount and loaded it into my car for me. Best customer service ever. read more

The manager Collin and his crew at the San Diego location were so helpful and courteous when it came to returning my tile. A contractor had given me the wrong number for tile and I had a huge amount of tile left over. Although I had a receipt, my tile was purchased over the 120 days so I couldn't receive my refund. But Collin didn't turn me away, he quickly stepped in and offered store credit! Collin and an associate also unloaded my trunk for me to help with the return! They sell defective products like their NuCore flooring line. They do not stand behind their products or warranties. After getting scammed out of thousands of dollars I will never purchase another product from this company as long as I live. It's one thing to sell a defective product, but it's another thing to not stand up to your warranty on said defective product. NuCore flooring has the weakest locking mechanism I have ever seen. You can literally just break chunks of it off with your fingers. The boards started coming apart all over the house only months after installation and they denied warranty on the entire house do minor installation issues that have NOTHING to do with the defect showing up all over the house. Don't get scammed like me. Do not shop at floor and decore. And especially, do no buy NuCore flooring! I think everything this company sells must be factory seconds, or made to scam buyers into purchasing inferior products. THERE IS A REASON THEY DO NOT ALLOW REVIEWS OF THEIR PRODUCTS ON THEIR WEBSITE. You have been warned. read more

I went to Floor and Decor off Morena and worked with a designer. I then called the following day and ordered all of the bathroom tile, along with grout, hardy backer, etc - everything we needed to complete the bathrooms. Then I wait... and I wait... I never got the email that my order was ready to pick up. So after waiting three days, I called to inquire and I was told that I should HAVE NEVER been sold this tile as they no longer have it (even though it was on the floor, on display). So now I'm in a time crunch, and having to start the process all over. I would NEVER give Floor and Decor another dime - ever!! read more

Doing some bathroom remodeling and came here after many failed attempts to find what we're looking for at the big box hardware stores. This place has so much to draw inspiration from. The parking is never an issue even though the lot is small. The items we have needed were almost always in stock. There's helpful staff everywhere and they have all the supplies you'll need for your project. I did learn that there is lots or variation between the tiles, so I go through to pick out the ones that fit my needs. The returns have easy so we buy with confidence that we won't be stuck with extra products. I post images from this place on social media and get messages asking about it. Not meaning to sound like a commercial: - Best selection in town: we visited other local flooring shops and typical large box retails. This Floor & Decor is probably the largest in town and carries a lot more selection (even compared with other F&D's in the area) - Competitive pricing - everything from under $1 psf and over. The $5/sf range has quality comparable to other local store's $8+/sf - Excellent Service: We were there late last night about 1 hr prior to store closing. We bought 30 boxes x 60lb of paver tiles. We pulled around to the customer pick up and thinking we could just load them ourselves into the 2 vehicles for the 1800 lb payload. However, due to liability considerations, we weren't able to move the goods off the pallet to our cars. One gentleman name JP from the store single-handedly moved all 30 boxes (again 1800 pounds of heavy lifting!) to our cars. He was pleasant and patient, no complaints even though we didn't finish until after 8PM (store closed at 8pm). Thank you! read more

When you first walk into this store, you're taken aback - like holy mother of porcelain and granite, there are one billion incredible flooring options in this store, from tile to hardwood, vinyl, and laminate. I could seriously spend all day here, wandering alone, touching all the options and wishing I had an unlimited budget so I could buy them all. The desire to wander alone wouldn't be difficult to fulfill since nobody at this location seems to have any desire to assist or even approach a customer. Yesterday was my second visit to the Sherman St location and it was as unsatisfying and frustrating as the first, when I purchased bathroom tile a few months ago and requested help making sure I purchased all the additional products I'd need. Our interaction went something like this: "Hi, I just want to make sure I get everything for my tile job so I don't have to come back! Can you help?" "Uh, sure. Here's the backerboard and mortar you need." "Don't I need grout?" "Oh yeah, here's the grout." "Ok, what about a trowel?" "Oh, haha, sure, here you go" "Don't I need spacers?" "Oh yeah, here's the spacers (proceeds to hand me the wrong type of spacers)" "Don't I need screws for the backer board?" "Uh huh, here you go" THANK GOD I'd watched a YouTube video beforehand and had a general idea of what I'd need, or I'd have come home with exactly NONE of the tiling products required for the job and BOY WOULD I HAVE BEEN ANGRY. You might say "well if you knew what you needed, why'd you ask?" Well, it was my first time ever doing a project like this and I wanted to get professional advice from the knowledgable folks that worked at the tile store. Mistake #1 - Assuming someone working at a tile store knows anything about tile, I guess? Fast forward to yesterday, when I came to buy stair treads for my staircase renovation. I saw online before driving over that there were several of the size I needed in stock, but when I arrived they were nowhere to be seen. I asked for assistance and the guy went to look, said he "couldn't find them" but could call me when he did. After he wandered off, I spotted the box of treads on the top shelf, and asked another passing employee (who seemed to be in a hurry to join the other 14 dudes in the employee area chatting away) how I could go about getting them down. With an air of annoyance, he told me I'd have to pay for the product first before they had someone come get it down for me. I mean, what?!! What if I wanted to see it before buying it? How does that make any sense? But fine, I knew I needed it, so I went to the front, paid for my item, and the checker asked when I wanted to "pick it up". I'm sorry, but again, WHAT? Well, apparently there were 5-6 people "ahead" of me waiting to have products brought down from the top shelf, so I'd likely not even be able to get my item for a full day. Even though the product was in stock. Even though I could SEE the item. Even though a dozen employees were clearly available to assist, standing literally on the other side of the shelf holding the item I needed. Mistake #2: Assuming that you can take home a product that is ON THE SHELF, I guess?! Now it's been a full 24 hours, and I have yet to hear back from them. I called, no answer. Called again. No answer. Called a third time. Well, you get the picture. I guess my only choice at this point is driving all the way to Morena and seeing if someone in the back finished their recap of last night's South Park and had a moment to grab a PAID FOR item off the shelf. Or I guess I could scale the shelves myself to get it, which might be faster. Floor and Decor has a great selection and even better prices but it seems like that cost savings translates into some seriously god awful customer service. Back to Home Depot I go, I suppose. (PS - Let's all marvel at the screenshot of the drop down menu of store locations in their customer service contact form. Who needs alphabetical order? Not Floor and Decor) ETA: Just realized there was an order number on my receipt I could check online -- and over 24 hours later it still says they are "prepping order," so I guess they still haven't gotten it off the shelf. Absolutely the worst Customer Service I have ever experienced. Upon entry we were never greeted even though we walked passed several employees that were just standing around. We came here with a sample of flooring looking for a similarity. After looking at several vinyls we had a few questions. I went to find a employee and came across Dave. I asked him can he assist us? He asked me what questions did I have? I told him I was looking for a similarity in vinyl but we were unsure how the pieces would lay. Do they snap or is it a grout needed? He then says "We don't assist with finding flooring or helping you pick flooring, you just have to look and find it for yourself!" I told him I have never heard of any store not offering assistance to a customer that has questions about a product that we are going to purchase. He then says I am a customer service associate. After I replied in a sharp and serious tone he called for someone to assist me. I really believe Dave was a racist because when I asked him why are other customers being helped by employees he declined to answer that question. After seeing the similar vinyl that another associate helped us find I decided not to spend my money at this location. I went straight to the manufacturer and paid to have it shipped to my home. I went to the San Diego store and it was a very upsetting situation. I was picking up an order for one of my clients which was placed a couple of days before me arriving at store to pick it up. When I got there on Wednesday 3/22/23 at 12:45 pm the lady at the counter told me that the order wasn't pulled yet and that I had to wait about 40 minutes for my order. Around 1:30 pm they dropped off the tile but they didn't load it, they went on and helped more people that had gotten there way after me. At about 2:15 pm no one had helped me with my order, I will not be recommending or shopping there any more. I had to load the tile myself by hand because they never helped me load it onto my truck. read more
