One of my absolute favorites in the Tri-Valley for sushi. They have an array of very creative rolls that never fail to please. Sometimes when you read the description you are not sure, but we always try to order one new roll when we go and I have never had one that I do not like! The service is great, even when the small restaurant is at capacity. In spite of the televisions around the place, it really is not a place to go to see a game, but more of a place to go to eat your sushi. Sake selection is ok, pretty much your standard list. They also have take out and they are very good about geting your order together and getting you out of there quickly. read more

I've eaten here quite a few times. Food is generally good and arrives quickly. Good if you. Need a quick lunch or dinner. My concern is on my last visit the floor is very sticky all over and it obviously needs cleaning which makes me wonder what the kitchen is like. I usually love coming here but now I'm not a fan. I ordered over doordash around 7:30 they said it would 20 mins. My doordash driver got to the restaurant and waited a while for my order. 20 mins went by and the driver ended up leaving and I called the restaurant to ask what is going on and they said they are just really busy and they are making my food now. Another driver took my order and he waited and waited for my order. I got a message on doordash saying it will be another 30 mins. I called again and the lady I spoke to said they are making my food now and I said you told me that 20 mins ago. All I ordered was California rolls, pot stickers and a salad. I finally got my food an hour later and I was so disappointed. The pot stickers was cold, I usually love the dipping sauce it comes with but I barely got anything, the California rolls were not good, they weren't rolled by the time I got them, they fell apart and looked messy, and the crab tasted off. 15 mins later after eating I ended up getting really sick. Senro is such a great spot for delicious sushi and a good time! One of my favorites in the area for sure. I remember coming here since I was probably 8 years old, and they have always been consistent. I recently stopped into the Pleasanton location with my friend, and we had a great dinner. The San Ramon location is not as good as this one, but still yummy sushi! Come give Senro a try. read more

Wow!!! Maybe it's because I was super hungry but I had an awesome lunch today!! Thank you Senro!! My coworker and I got "to-go" bento boxes. I don't usually have high hopes for Japanese food to go, but this was excellent. Another plus, the price was great, about $8 each. And, even though I ate it about 45 min after we ordered, it was still delish. I had CA roll and tempura. Both were well prepared and nicely presented. Service was great.The sushi wasn't the best however. It tasted very bland and the rice was hard. The restaurant itself is very stuffy. Like there is no air circulation in the restaurant. Because of this it sorta has an old smell to the restaurant. Miso soup was microwaved and served without a spoon. Sadly we won't be back. read more

This is our go to sushi restaurant in Pleasanton. It has decent sushi and good service. It's not stellar in any way but ok. There's a good variety of rolls. I don't get the nigiri or sashmi. The fish isn't that good for it. Bento boxes are also good. The noodle/udon dishes taste instant so I also avoid those. It could stand to be a little cleaner, especially the bathrooms but of all the places in this town, it's the better option... And I've done the research as a sushi lover ! read more

Disappointing service. My cup was NEVER refilled. The salad plate and miso bowl stayed at our table the whole time. Nobody ever checked on us. We had to wait ten minutes for the bill. The fish was fresh. The rolls sound creative, but all three of them tasted bland as bland could be. Seasoning makes sushi rice yummy, and theirs was completely lacking in flavor. The atmosphere here is nice, and there's plenty of room for large parties. The food was good and the menu has many options for sushi lovers and Japanese food. The service here wasn't great at all however. The servers never paid attention to our table and were slow to seat us and take our order. Great sushi. Service is fast and courteous. Lunch hours is the best time to go for the prices. Prices are still cheaper than other places in the Tri Valley area. Restaurant can be busy at times, but not too bad to have to wait. Never have to wait for a table. You can also call in take out as well. I only give it 4 stars due to some of the sushi is either too much spicy mayo or sriracha or some other non-authentic additive, but then again, affordable true Japanese owned and ran restaurants are impossible to find. I consider my self an avid sushi eater and I am always looking for something new and better. I've had a hard time topping the sushi from Senro. Its great quality with a great atmosphere. Its the perfect size for a romantic evening but works just as well for a good size group. Their selection of beer, wine, and sake is fantastic and priced well. Walnut prawn sushi appeared to be quite popular the evening that we dined. Every table around us had it and enjoyed it, including our party. The sashimi plate was fresh and excellent. This is some of the lowest quality most disgusting food I've ever had in my life. The chicken was discolored, gray, and so overcooked that it took my dog 20 minutes to chew through a small piece of it. Everything is cheaply done. The salad is a few pieces of iceberg lettuce with an unripe tomato piece on top, just one. I also ordered the cucumber salad with crab meat on top and they're using the cheap, Japanese cucumbers and failed to properly sauced them with b vinegar so I basically got a styrofoam container with chopped up cucumbers and some fake crab meat piled on top. That's not a traditional Japanese cucumber salad at all. and finally, he said she need I ordered was cut so incorrectly that I had to recut it myself. They basically gave me just for chunks of fish that I'll head skin on them. I don't love DIY take out. seriously, don't even think about ordering from here and expecting something decent. Is it just me or is it unusual to go to a sushi restaurant and find a dog dining underneath her owner's feet at the sushi bar? Not an assistance dog mind you, just a cute and fluffy pet along for a nice dinner out. I just found that weird and unappealing. Had dinner here last night and everything was passable. We had a shrimp festival roll, spicy tuna roll, and a salmon roll of some sort that I can't remember the name. It's just average, prices were similar to any other sushi place. I agree with the other reviewers that most of the rolls listed were either fried or drowning in a fat laden sauce of mayo, butter, or cream cheese. Definitely not for purists. read more

I am only giving one star because I have to get one star otherwise I would give this place 0 stars. I'm not really sure how people give this place 3 4 & 5 stars. The fish is frozen, not fresh and mushy from defrosting and soaking in liquid. The ninja roll almost made me throw up in my mouth. I spit it out and didn't even finish the rest of the role. The jalapeno albacore, which I was looking forward to, had a thick dry layer on the outside of it which appeared to be from sitting out for a long time and the texture was just pure mushy from being frozen. The Albacore was a bit fishy. Anybody that knows albacore, should know that it is not a fishy fish. We had a few other rolls and experience the same thing. Let's not forget the salad, it was like someone squeeze the bottle of mayonnaise on the top of head lettuce, yuck! To top off the experience, when we got up from our seats and I looked at the floor, there was a giant half dead cockroach! The moral of the story is.... if you go into a Japanese restaurant with a hundred strange rolls on menu that are as big around as your fist and there's not a single Japanese person eating in the restaurant and everybody that works there is Korean or whatever nationality they are, get out quick and go to Sato for some real Japanese! read more

I have been once and won't go back. The sushi may be creative but the quality of the ingredients is poor. You will be lucky if you find one sushi that does not bathe in mayo. First time I have been to Senro's. My date and myself arrived just after 5p (just after opening). We were the only people in the place until 5:30p. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was good. All the signature rolls average around $10 a roll and you get eight pieces per roll. My date and I shared the bacon wrapped asparagus skewers and they were excellent, but I am a huge bacon fan. The sushi was good and the presentation was very eye appealing. I had the Chicken Teriyaki combination dinner. It was around $16, but there was alot of food. You get to pick from a variety of sides. I chose the pot stickers and 4 piece of sashimi. Overall a very good experience and the bill was around $65. Service was great and food was good! Overall a 4 1/2 stars. read more

Let me get something straight right away. This is not a Japanese restaurant. My wife is Japanese and no one in the entire place spoke Japanese. Not that none Japanese running a Japanese restaurant makes it a bad place to eat but the food was NOT even Japanese!!! I don't know what it was but it definitely was not like any Japanese food I have ever eaten. Sushi is usually small enough to pop in your mouth and eat. The sushi here is huge and cannot possible be eatin in one bite. So you stuck trying to bite through it or stuffing the entire thing into your mouth. Not a pretty sight either way. Plus it is just plane awful. I got 3 different sushi's rolls and they were like nothing I have ever had. They have like 50 different kinds of sushi. Is seems like whatever they could roll in rice and seaweed they call sushi. My wife got a pork cutlet that was disgusting. It was over cooked and dry inside with a poached egg ( she likes that kind of thing and I have been to Japan they put poached eggs on top of everything) and in some kind of soy sauce base. AUG!!! BLAH!!! YUCK!!! Avoid this place at all costs. Update. Check around Moorpark and Saratoga in San Jose. There are many many REAL Japanese restaurants down there because of the Japanese Supermarket Mitsuwa. It has become our weekend trek to go to San Jose for Japanese dining. We love this place! Friendly and familiar. It has such a relaxing and cozy feel, while the food is excellent. Having lived in Japan, we appreciate good sushi, and this is the family favorite! We regularly meet friends and family here for our "fix". They don't have a long list of the crazy and beloved rolls that some sushi restaurants are known for, although they do have some. Yet, they definitely have the best and freshest choices! Yum... The only thing I can say negative is its a bit pricey - limiting the number of times we can frequent our place. When I first went to Senro, I hesitated. How can a sushi place have so many different types of rolls (believe it's over 50) and be good. With my first bite they took my hesitation away. Plus after talking with the owner I understood why there were so many different types. He wanted to break away from the norm. Besides how many REAL sushi eatters eat a California Roll? If you are looking to expand your sushi experience, and have the option of eating inside or outside give Senro a whirl. Now the reason why I gave them 4 out of 5 was the service (if you are sitting at a table) was not that great. I couldn't tell if it was because they were busy or just cruddy service. I came on A Friday night for the first time with my mom. I ordered the Hawaiian Poke and it was amazing. I'm from Hawaii and this definitely met the "standards" and went beyond. It was SO GOOD. This is one of our new go to spots for sushi in pleasanton. I love their sashimi dinners, they are fresh and with generous slices of fish. We ordered two rolls and both were good, although I thought the mayo tasting sauce was a tad overpowering. It's a rather large restaurant with a private rooms/booths in the back and we never have to wait. The servers are also very friendly and prompt. I did notice that once they give you your food, they disappear until its time to give you your bill. Filling our water glasses would have been nice. However, for value and quality one of the best in the area. read more
