I love massages!! Understatement! I have basically tried most massage places in the South Bay, get massages semi frequently and can safely say my massage here is one of the best I have ever gotten!! The service here is superb, but that's basically been my experience at most other locations as well. The ambiance is also quite nice and the amenities (pool, relaxation, spa snacks) are also well done, again, similar to other locations. What sets this place apart for me? The massage itself! Wow! I got a his/hers couple's massage and the massage I got was just perfect. Perfect level of pressure, the length of the massage felt right (although I always would like it to go longer), and the masseuse was able to hit exactly which areas I had mentioned needed extra focus in the beginning of the massage. I left the massage thinking I wish all massages were like this and that I'd like to book with them again as soon as possible. Since coming here I've gotten gift certificates for family members and they all loved their experience here as well. I would definitely recommend! read more

Had their prenatal massage, and it was AMAZING! again, JANET is the gal to go to, she just knows or has some special magic fingers/ sense for the right spots to get to. It was the most comfortable 90minutes I've had in like 20 weeks! After my massage, I took an hour nap in the lounge area because I was so relaxed (and I cant sleep when people are around/ walking by). If you, or anyone you love is in their 2nd or 3rd trimester I would totally tell you to get them a gift card here, make an appt with Janet, and then enjoy! My babies were very happy campers too, they moved a lot during my visit at the spa. The only bummer is there is no pool to use (that would of been great) but I think that this place is so nice compared to other top notch spas in the area that it makes up for the no pool. For the price points for massages, they need to kick up the level of service a notch or two. You should have simple things like water in the women's locker room readily available. Three of us went on Saturday - we were greeted by less than professional front desk staff. The woman was on the phone, speaking very loudly and barely acknowledged the three of us standing there. Several minutes later, she hung up and finally helped us. I will say the locker room is really nice - very open, peaceful, smells lovely. The showers are amazing! The steam room was okay - had a funky smell, they either need to add some essential oils or something. The massage rooms are very spacious and great tables. The women's lounge area is nice, but again - no water, just overly sweet cranberry juice. When we got out of our massages at 4:00 PM the water was down to just ice. By the time we left at 6:00 PM, he had not been filled and there was not a single attendant in sight. Completed a visit with a small group earlier this month and was quite pleased. The facilities were clean and well appointed -- I love co-ed shared spaces so that if we have a mixed group everyone can hang. The service room (I had a double to myself) was amazing w/ a massivd shower, separate tub, and even a water closet. The massage bed was one of the more comfortable ones I've been on. All of their services are 90-mins which makes things quite expensive ($250 for a massage) but it was overall pretty good. I like the incorporation of warm (possibly scented?) towels that my therapist integrated with ease and not taking time away from the overall massage. I had to knock a star for odd pricing when it came to food/drink. Ordering a bottle of wine ended up being more expensive than just ordering 4 glasses and there was a ridic service and delivery fee, but I suppose customary when you're spending $250 per service (+tip). read more

I'm struggling properly review this place. For starters, I came to Sense to have a spa day with my girlfriends for my birthday. The spa is beautiful and everyone was really nice. However, "nice" is not the word I can use to describe my $250 90-min massage. My masseuse, Janet (I think) talked the ENTIRE time. The whole entire time. Also, I'm not sure what the massage style was supposed to be, it's a little rub here, a little pressure here, one thing on this side, something totally different on that side. After about 87 mins had passed, she flipped me over and realized she only had 3 mins left so just lotioned up my arms and legs real' quick. I've honestly had better massages at a mall... 2 of my girlfriends had a similar, underwhelming experience. While the amenities are great, I can't say this place is worth it with such a poor massage experience. read more

This was my third visit to this spa. One thing you need to know is that you must specifically ask for a lead technician. The first time I came my massage was nothing overly impressive, but when I came back and specifically asked for Michelle. Wow- was it amazing. Like top five best massages of my life. Also speak up if there is anything that makes your visit not a five star experience. The management bent over backwards to address a misunderstanding that ended up being an error on my part. They could have acted transitional but instead did just the opposite. They acted so empathetic and wanted to correct the issue so that I had a happy experience. I felt so loved and cared about. I went in early to relax on a rainy day before my massage. Every single lounge chair was full. Sense Spa mentioned that this spa is also available to the Rosewood Hotel guest. At five minutes before my massage the woman in charge mentioned that they'd try to find me a lounger to relax in. At FIVE MINUTES before my massage? They seriously need to either expand their facility OR assure each massage recipient that they have a place to relax beforehand. Sense Spa is getting just like the airlines. OVERBOOKING. We WILL NOT BE BACK. For a $225.00 massage and a repeat customer, they have lost me as a customer. There are far better places for a massage in the Bay Area. read more

My wife and I booked a couples massage after a previous appointment - in person at their front desk at check out. A week later on arrival for the scheduled treatment, they couldn't locate the appointment and told us there was nothing they could do and they were busy. Offering they could see us in the evening and "we are welcome to hang out" - yeah sure we have time to stick around for 4-5h until you make time for us after to messed up. This place probably has a high rating, because every time they make a mistake, they offer you something complimentary to make up for it. Why not just do it right the first time or even the second time? Let me start off with saying, this is a beautiful spa, and the facial I got the second time here, with Sandy, was fantastic. Even just as good as the ones I get from the usual esthetician I see who's been doing skin for over 20 years. When I'm paying high prices for spa services, I expect more. I expect to walk in and leave, impressed the entire time, cozy, cared for and relaxed. If I was paying a lot less, I wouldn't have the same expectations, very clear and straightforward. From the initial phone conversation I made to book massage and facials for me and my girlfriend, it was a little unprofessional, and didn't seem to be a good intro for what was to come. When we came that Sunday morning, the service was rushed. Neither of us got any kind of tour or shown the facilities, even though it was our first time there. We also wanted to have our lunch in between morning and afternoon treatments (1pm-1:30pm), so we preordered two of their Dino Kale Salads. My friends' massage therapist was the same person that was giving her facial. That women insisted that we have our lunch after both treatments without asking if that was ok, because they got started late. My massage therapist started late too. Neither one of us had much of a breakfast, nor much time to catch up, and were looking forward to our break and food. When I was done, the lunch was not there. I was told my friend has decided to have lunch at 3pm.. (Which was untrue, the therapist told her that's what was going to happen.) I was upset and disappointed. I had already been to the steam room, had no desire to get in their jacuzzi, and was waiting patiently for the esthetician. The one scheduled with me was actually standing there asking the wrong woman about when her friend was coming as I was waiting, she was waiting for someone else, this women that had a similar last name if you were mispronouncing mine. Due to this misunderstanding, my "facial" started late too. The women barely touched my face. It was bizarre. She spent 10-15 minutes wiping off my eye make up and every time she put another product on my face, she would leave some on and start applying the next thing. All the time with her did, was stress me out more. It was strange... Like a practical joke or something. We finally met up after our treatments and got our lunch after all the stressful events at the spa! Finally things started to turn around, the Dino Kale Salad were incredibly good. They brought out some complimentary Champagne for my girlfriend and we made the best out of all the crazy obstacles in our way. It was funny until we were leaving and had to pay for the "service" we barely received. In order to make things right, the manager offered for me to come back and get a facial and complimentary lunch another time on them. I was hesitant to come back, but they are close by and the facilities were very beautiful and that salad was addictive, so I found another friend that was willing to go, because the first one said she wouldn't ever come back. I have to admit, I had a busy week and wasn't feeling all up for my facial treatment a couple days ago, but decided... I would just go enjoy the steam, sit in the jacuzzi and enjoy the time I set aside, almost a month prior. So, I made sure to rearrange some things and get there by 1:30pm, to enjoy myself thoroughly before my facial at 2:45pm. I called ahead to have the salad there, when I arrived, so I could steam and soak worry-free. The gentleman on the other side of the phone was super helpful, patient and helped me order my salad with ease. Unfortunately, when I got there the salad tasted like it had been sitting there since when I called an hour and a half before. The steam, sauna and jacuzzi were not there. They were actually doing construction. The locker room was very cold and there was nothing to do. Absolutely nothing, but sit and wait. I got at least 2-3 email and text reminders about my treatment. I don't understand why not one single staff person couldn't call me, giving me the choice to reschedule. I was really disappointed once again. Once I finally met up with Sandy, the esthetician assigned to me for my facial, all was well. She took such good care of me and my face, massaging me and using the perfect products on my face. I drifted away into good hands and a dreamlike state. She's super good with people and knows all about the most effective products! On my way out this time, I mentioned my disappointment about the steam, sauna and jacuzzi not there. Once again, I got an apology along with another complimentary card, this time to use the spa. It was a nice gesture, and much appreciated. At the same time, it would be nice if they take care of the guests from the start, not the after the fact! read more

For my boyfriend's birthday, I decided to book us a spa treatment at Sense. They had a special promotion going on; 90 min massage and use of the pool/outdoor cafe etc. I booked us both a massage specifically to take advantage of the pool area. Since it was the last days of summer. When we arrived, we checked in and were taken to the locker rooms. I asked the hostess how we can access the pool. She said that only guests have access to the pool for that day (Labor Day) due to the holiday. I told her that when I booked the appointment, I specifically asked them if they were doing the promotion for that day as I understood it was a holiday. I was told that I could and that they were running the promotion for a while. I told her that I booked the massages, which were over $500 total, to specifically use the promotion and have pool access. After a bit of back and forth she said that she would speak to her manager. I went into my massage feeling uneasy, annoyed and felt taken advantage of. There was no way I could "relax" because I was so upset. The massage was weak. Routine moves, not customized. Nothing stood out about it. At the end of the massage, I went back to the locker room, sent my boyfriend a text and told him we had to leave because we weren't able to use the pool...during his birthday celebration. When I met my boyfriend in the lobby, he told me that his massage therapist told him that he could use the pool/spa all day. I asked him why she said that...because I basically just fought with the receptionist for pool access after telling me that we could not use it. He said that the massage therapist told him that she wanted to confirm that WE WERE ABLE to use the pool/spa facilities all day. I was floored. Apparently they had checked and went straight to him instead of me to confirm this. Why? No really, I want to know why. I had the most crappy massage due to the fact that I was upset, pissed off and grumpy about the whole ordeal. And NOW they tell us we CAN use the pool? They ended up giving us pool passes in the end. I was still annoyed at the whole situation. For $500+ I could take my money elsewhere and be treated justly and fair. I am the paying customer. If I tell you that I booked a promotional deal, I expect you to give me that deal. If not then, you should take that into account and be accommodating to all guests. read more

I had a fabulous 45 minute massage here. The masseuse was wonderful and really listened to my requests and concerns. The spa itself is pretty standard. Key-less lockers, a jacuzzi outside, a waiting area with dried fruits. The sheets on the massage bed were the softest sheets I have ever experienced. They were so silky and smooth that after the massage I pulled them apart to find the brand so that I could buy them! I would return to this spa if I were staying at the Rosewood again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. From entering, the treatment at reception was okay, but even though it was a work day, there were few lockers left and it took the attendant a great deal of time to find my friend and I a locker. Time we were hoping to spend using the facilities.The robe in my locker was seriously torn and the slippers I was given were also torn and kept pinching my feet. We could not find anyone to ask for new robes or slippers, as it appeared that the spa was not well staffed. I had the Rosewood Complete Facial (YES, an over $300 facial) and it was not what was advertised. First, the technician never explained any of the products she was putting on my face, which is something I am used to. Second, I was not given a peel, or any hand or foot massage which appear to be promised in your on-line menu. For this price, I cannot understand why this treatment wouldn't be top notch. It wasn't worth even 1/2 of what I paid for it and it definitely wasn't relaxing. My friend and I were looking forward to the sauna, but it was broken. We tried numerous times to use it and again couldn't find an attendant to ask for help. The outdoor jacuzzi was lukewarm (yuck). We finally took showers to get ready, as I ha a business meeting. However, there were NO brushes available, only super fine tooth combs (like the 99 cent ones from the drug store) which won't even go through my hair without a tine breaking. So I had to let my hair dry without combing/brushing it to then go straight to work. I reached out to management, who was very plesant and who told me they would send me a gift certificate so I could try again. However, 6 weeks and 2 follow-up inquiries later and nothing has ever arrived and that is fine by me at this point. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I received a gift certificate for this spa from my employer, or I wouldn't have gone here by choice. As anyone who reads my reviews sees I am a local to Santa Cruz - so driving all the way to Menlo Park for spa treatments is a bit much! Based on my first experience there I would give them FOUR STARS. However, for my 2nd experience I am taking them down to a TWO STAR and here is WHY: Services Purchased: Brazilian Wax (both times) 1st Visit Cons: 1. They have a 24hr cancellation policy. If you ditch your appointment with in 24 hours of being scheduled - they doc your CC $50, but have no problem calling you within two hours of your appt and asking you to come in sooner so they can accommodate ANOTHER person...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not only do I have to drive all the way from Santa Cruz, but I am a mother - so there is no fudging with my schedule. 2. Their Spa robes are thin and rough. 3. The lady I had for my wax was nice and easy to talk to. However, she LOST my respect when she proceeded to try and sell me on facials, massages and so on. Makes me feel like a hot mess having facials and acne talk during what is supposed to be a relaxing time FOR ME! 4. Did get all of the hair off which is the point of a Brazilian wax! 5. Cleaning staff was loud - hard to relax when you have people clambering around you. 6. The bathing suit optional outdoor spa is VIEWABLE BY FREEWAY TRAFFIC??? PROS: Clean facility, coded lockers, not crowded, pleasant staff. 2nd Visit Cons: 1. Fist gal I had wasn't available so I was assigned the self proclaimed BEST OF THE BEST. She shall remain anonymous since my profile isn't private. She was even WORSE with the facial upsales! Made me feel like I was Hatchet-Face from CryBaby! TOTALLY not cool! That and she talked about how world renowned she is and how she is the BEST wax person! WELL LET ME TELL YOU - They charge an ARM and a LEG for waxing and she managed to leave behind all the hair, but RIP OFF MY ARM AND LEG so to speak! She had me on and off the table in 30 mins! I have NEVER had a Brazilian go that quickly! 2. The complimentary razor's they provide for the showers were as dull as CSPAN! What is the point? So, I had to wait to get home to finish up where MS WAXING PERFECTION left off! TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! My FINAL verdict is SKIP THIS PLACE! I was so excited to come to this spa as I'd heard many great things. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed by my experience. While my treatment itself was great and relaxing, the drunk bachelorette party making use of the spa facilities at the same time as me was not. I was completely shocked that a high end spa would serve a group of women unlimited mimosas (yes the spa was serving these women the alcohol) and not put them in a separate private area. They were very loud and clearly intoxicated. This completely ruined what should have been a relaxing experience. To make matters worse, I sent an email to the management shortly after my experience and never even got a response. With several excellent spa choices in the Bay Area, I will absolutely not return there as I'd rather not gamble on whether I'll be spending my relaxing spa time with the "all you can drink" brunch group. read more

I also visited Sense for spa week and enjoyed an hour long aromatherapy massage and all of their other amenities for a mere $50. Here's my stance, especially when compared to other local spas like Watercourse Way and La Belle: Pro's -gorgeous spa decor -steam room/sauna/hot tub are all complimentary -huge locker room, nice showers -attentive staff Con's -highest priced services in the area -my robe was not fluffy and actually quite thin, considering I lounged around without a spa robe underneath. This may seem like a petty complaint, but a nice thick robe will really start a spa trip in the right direction. -they did not ask me my preferred gender of masseuse, consequently, I received my first male masseuse...which I enjoyed but was uncomfortable with at first -NO TOILET SEAT COVERS for which I knock one star. I don't really care how clean you "appear" to be, I still like to use a seat cover in public. I will return if they appear on the next spa week, but if I had to pay full price, I'd rather visit La Belle or Watercourse, where I could get a package instead of just one treatment. read more

Yep... I think this is my new favorite spa! I spent 4 uninterrupted blissful hours here & can't wait for my next excuse to come back. Yes, it's pricey, and I would normally dock a star for that alone... but it's soooo worth it. Now that I am back to working 40+ hours a week and have a 1 year old to take care of... time is money, honey! I unexpectedly found myself w/ a day off of work and my son was with my in-laws, so I called Sense spa to see if they had any availability, and they DID! With my spafinder giftcards and bikini in tow, I dashed over there and had some much needed mommy-time. THINGS I LOVED: -- Yummy pomegranate juice, dried cranberries/chocolate/almonds to drink & munch on -- Outdoor jacuzzi & steam room to get my skin feeling hydrated & muscles relaxed -- Raindrop showerhead ... I always get excited when I see this in a spa/hotel room -- My male masseuse with magic fingers... Thanks Rommel! I love that this spa is so close to home!! It reminds me of the spas I visit when I'm on a weekend getaway to Vegas/Palm Springs/LA ... so even though it's pricey, I still save on airfare... like my rationalizing on that one?!? The facility is beautiful BUT it is adjacent to 280, expect to hear the roar of traffic over the zen muzak. It was very bad planning to place the spa next to the freeway. Some treatment rooms seem to be quieter than others. Also, $140 for a one hour massage + the expected 15-20% tip is way over-priced as compared to other high end spas The staff is great and facility very nice, they should have put the treatment rooms on the east side of the building and the work out facility on the side facing 280. read more

I had a couple of SpaFinder gift certificates that I redeemed here to cover the cost of their Signature Massage. It was a great experience. First, it is tricky to find the spa. There are little signs and you seem to keep driving around the exterior of the hotel forever. But if you just keep following what seems to be an access road until you come all the way back to the freeway, then you'll see the larger Sense sign on your left. So the massage was great. I told the masseuse that I was coming down with a cold, and I asked her to please be gentle, and she was. The neck and scalp part were my favorite. She used a neck pillow that smelled like apple pie. Really. Like someone just baked one and left it by my head. Afterwards I told her that I wanted to eat the pillow and she laughed. But seriously, equally as great as the actual "spa treatment" is just the experience of hanging out there. Leave yourself 3-4 hours to enjoy it. I brought along a couple of New Yorkers and spent nearly an hour just sitting in the whirlpool reading by myself. I really enjoyed that because they don't keep it scalding hot like a hot tub. It's hot enough to feel good, but cool enough that you could seriously soak there forever without over-heating. Then I spent some time in the steam room. Then I read in the lounge for awhile and had a cup of complimentary pomegranate juice and trail mix. Then more steam room. Then a hot shower. You can switch it to the overhead shower that feels like standing in hot rain. That's fun. They play nice soft music (pan flute, some guitar, pretty much what you'd expect) throughout the spa. And on the Sunday morning I was there it wasn't crowded at all. Super pricey, yes. But for an occasional indulgence I can't really think of anything else I'd rather do. read more

I thought that Burke Williams in Santana Row was the height of luxury. It is indeed a great place. However, after going to Sense @ Rosewood I will never go elsewhere. It is in a gorgeous hotel right off Sand Hill exit in Palo Alto. They have the dry sauna, Jacuzzi, wet sauna (steam room) and indoor/outdoor relaxation rooms. Outside they have a small but gorgeous waterfall that makes you feel so relaxed to just sit there and read a magazine. The massage rooms are very spacey and with wood floors. It gives it a very romantic and relaxing atmosphere as soon as you go in. The massages are to die for but I must say that the most indulging luxury is their showers. They have the rain showers with huge shower heads so when you take a shower you indulge and feel so relaxed. Very clean and elegant and the staff is extremely friendly. Only thing that I was unhappy is that I had a gift certificate from spa finder or one of those online things. My intent was to use it for at least 2 massages but I was forced to redeem the entire amount in one day. I was really caught off guard and not ready for that. Next time if you use gift certificates buy in smaller denominations so that you can use as you need. read more

Even before you step foot inside, the small water fountain outside already transport you to a more calming state. Once you enter, you are greeted with ambiance lighting with friendly service. As you complete a form on the comfortable seat, you are given a wooden tray with a hot towel infused with some kind of calming scent and a small cup of mint infused hot tea...the tea does wonder to relax you. I had the aromatherapy massage and was given an additional questionnaire asking about your physical and mental being. Area you wish to address...the information is then given to your massage therapist who will customize a blend of essential oils for you. I wanted calming and relaxing - my blend was a combination of chamomile, lavender and vetiver. I was running late but did get to enjoy the ladies lounge a little and took a peek at the couples lounge. The room was dimly lit with calming background music. The massage was heavenly and the 90 minutes flew by...I enjoyed the dry brushing, the slow deep breaths of the personalized essential oil, the hot pad on my back, the raised platform for my feet...the special attention paid to my shoulders but every part of my body was well massaged from my feet to my scalp. I was given a tour of the facility afterward with information on other services...the couple suite #1 is gorgeous but I won't be visiting it since my hubby does not like massage... I relaxed for a while in the ladies lounge afterward with some iced tea and fresh fruits before a wonderful long hot shower. The couples lounge is bigger with some big round seats but it's very bright facing the patio with the water fountain. I can't wait to return for another treatment! read more

Underwhelmed. The women in my family booked a spa day here for my mother's birthday. Given that services here are twice the price of other spas, my family was pretty disappointed with the slightly dirty and worn down facilities. You would think that as part of a luxury resort hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant on site, they would have top notch maintenance and upkeep. The lounge chair cushions were dirty and worn, and some places were dusty. The bathroom sink area was missing some hand towels and soap. The locker room changing area felt a bit run down. The outdoor whirlpool was also tiny and felt cramped, which did not make me feel like I was at a luxury resort spa. The front desk staff this day seemed inexperienced and less than polished. This surprised me as the woman I had spoken with on the phone to book appointments another time sounded very polished and professional. I suppose good help is hard to find. The spa services (massages and facials), however, were excellent which is why I am still giving this place 3 stars. My massage therapist was superb and also had an excellent bedside manner - both warm and professional. The other therapists were also extremely personable and provided great service. That must be why they were so busy! read more

I LOVED Sense Spa. Went there a couple of days ago for their signature facial. My appointment was with Sarah, who is terrific. The facilities: The spa is clean and has a very contemporary vibe. There is a steam room, whirlpool, and sauna. The whirlpool is outside and since Menlo Park usually has fabulous weather, it's a very nice treat. There are two lounge areas, one that is just for males/females inside and a communal lounge area called the "sanctuary" that includes an outside area with a fountain. It's very pretty and relaxing. The lounges include delicious teas (like hazelnut truffle, yummm) and snacks like almonds, dark chocolate and cranberries. You can easily spend a few hours relaxing at the spa's facilities alone. I also went on a Saturday and although there were a fair amount of people, it did not feel crowded at all. The facial: I liked how Sarah asked me questions about my specific skin concerns and tailored the facial towards my skin needs. It was a great mix of relaxation with all of the fragrant potions she used and very beneficial with a deep pore cleanser. I also really enjoyed how she used a steam device which I've never had before. Sarah was really good about giving me information and letting me ask questions without overwhelming me about products etc. I also really enjoyed the arm massage along with the facial. I've been to a few spas and this place stands out both in terms of the treatment and the facility. My only gripe would be that purchasing a treatment at the spa does not give you access to the pool area (except on weekdays - which I spend at work). I've never been to a hotel/resort spa before without also getting access to the pool area. I took off a star for that alone because it was very disappointing. I live very close and would go quite frequently if I could use the pool as well. Given the prices of this spa, they should definitely allow access to the pool on weekdays and weekends....like every other resort does. read more

This review is regarding the Rosewood Spa policy. The spa has a strict policy that does not allow a day use even if a client tries to book a service. I have frequented the spa over the past ten years and I usually go for special occasions because of the facilities and expected good customer service. This year, I had planned to attend with my mom and sister for their birthdays. Both my mother and sister have booked services for this weekend. When I called to book a service to join and celebrate, Rosewood said they don't have any services available around that time. So, I am willing to be flexible and ask for another time, which also doesn't work out. So I kindly ask if I can just pay to use the facilities so I can join my mom and sister (it is their birthdays after all). Without skipping and beat, and without an apology, the receptionist says that they have a "strict policy" that does not allow day use. She spoke to me as if I was trying to break the law! I patiently stated that I was actually trying to book a service and that Rosewood happens not have enough therapists available, and asked if there an exception. She repeated that it's a strict policy-- like she is reading a law. I'm willing to pay and Rosewood won't even allow a patron to join their family members. I understand that this is a policy to keep the spa from being crowded, but I also think that Rosewood should allow managerial discretion to make exceptions. I think that this policy should be amended and addressed! Also, I expected better customer service from Rosewood staff; otherwise, what is the point in paying the high prices? read more

been going here off and on... I had an appointment on my birthday but, received a phone call to let me know the steam room, jacuzzi and sauna were not working so, I rescheduled to the next day. I called to see if it was up and running and the gal said no. I rescheduled again and asked the gal "are a lot of people rescheduling?" she rudely said "No, just you!" then did an exhale to help me find another day. I wish I got her name so I could of complained to the manager... If I'm paying $$$$ I want to go to a spa with everything working. How dare she be so rude. She doesn't know what people are going through in their life.... I look forward to going to the spa to release the stress. The workers is a hit or miss... sometimes you see them all the time or have a hard time finding one. I make sure that I always thank them because they do work hard.... I was overly nice to this male worker and didn't even get a response. I say Sense Spa needs to have trainings with their employees about common courtesy. I do enjoy going to this spa. I had a great massage with Antoinette she explains what she's going to do and does not talk much which I love... I used the steam room several times to release the stress (I saw a review that someone saw gross stuff on the walls and the floors- I'm a germaphobe and I have never experience that there). One of the main reasons why I go here... so rude girl damn skippy I'm going to reschedule if it isn't working. read more

I love this place. Unlike some place like a Burke and Williams, it is quiet and less crowded. It is relaxing to just hang out in the sanctuary room while waiting for your treatment, with some tea and nuts. Previous to COVID, it offered more in amenities and snacks but I am very satisfied with my last massage with good service, cleanliness and the quality of my massage. Ileana provided me with a relaxing massage and provided me with requested accommodations. If you can get past the snooty clientele and focus on you and the staff-- it is a great place to chill and focus on you. read more

One of the best overall spas in the area. Great service, nice amenities and comfortable lounge area. The massage therapist are pleasant and deliver top quality massages. It is pricey so be ready to spend more than at your average spa. read more

Hands down, my new escape. When designing the spa and the spa menu of treatments, nothing was left out. No matter how/when/who you go with, you're going to enjoy yourself immensely. Going Solo - dry and wet saunas, rainfall showers, whirlpool, relaxation lounges with tea, dark chocolate and fresh fruit. Couple - duet treatment room with private shower/lounge/whirlpool On top of all this .... the massage was world class. Highly trained techniques, not a cruise ship massage people. Also.... take a look at some of their packages on the treatment menu. There is an hour couples massage and a 3-course dinner at Madera package that I booked for my parents for their anniversary and they could not stop raving about their weekend. Not to mention Sense made it ridiculously easy for me to arrange everything and have it all taken care of ahead of time. read more

I'd give more stars if I could. I had a 90 minute deep tissue by Ethan. OMG it was wonderful. I've had many many deep tissue massages before and this was by far the best. My appointment was on a Monday evening I had about 20 minutes before the start of my session. I really wish I had come earlier so I could enjoy the lounge area and relax. So anyway, the massage included hot towels, heated pads and aroma therapy on top of the normal spa sounds cd collection. I'm often disappointed in the lack of 'elbow grease' in my deep tissue massages. Not from this guy. I recommend giving yourself plenty of time before and after to enjoy the lounge. Also, they have a special for Monday-Wednesdays. Its a 90 minute massage for the price of a 60 minute massage, which just makes it even better. read more

Sense does not impress but 2 weeks later, I close my eyes and I am serenely beaming from thoughts of my 90 min treatment from Kim at Sense. Mmmmm... Sense was all about the small details. Like heated towel racks in the treatment rooms for your robe, textured ceilings so you have something zen like to look at during your treatment, and heated water beds . I love that it's new and clean and everywhere I turn it's just naturally beautiful. Water fountains, plushy seats, heated neck pillows, Rooibos tea (my favorite!) all made for a lovely welcome and post facial oasis. My 90min facial and massage was thorough and relaxing. But so relaxing that after I had put on my robe my arms could not gather the strength to open the doors. I think Kim heard me scratch at the door and helped me. I was over relaxed! Afterwards, I sat in the Coed relaxation room wishing that I didn't have to go back to the realities that waited for me but definitely making a mental note to come back. =) read more

When my boss is in a good mood and feeling generous she gives me gift certificates to this spa. I've had facials from Renee and I've always felt super refreshed after a visit. I like that they don't push products on you during or after your visit. Lots of room to spread out and relax. The sauna and steam room are nice but small. This place is pricey but one of the most relaxing all inclusive spas I've been to in a long time. I definitely recommend arriving early to your appointment to take advantage of their amenities - dry sauna, steam sauna, hot tub (though it wasn't that hot when I was there), showers, zen room, etc. This is a full service spa. I received a body treatment. If you book a body treatment Mon-Wed you get an additional 30 min massage free! This is a very relaxing environment. The spa is huge and it makes you feel like you're on another planet far from the stress of work. I definitely recommend an experience here if you're willing to pay a bit more for your massage/facial/spa treatment. read more

This is hands down the best spa I have been to. I recently went to the Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii, which I thought would be nicer and this place blows it out of the water. From the sleek modern designs in the showers to the travertine sauna, you can tell a lot of thought was taken in the design. The rooms are so comfortable and my massage therapist was amazing. A brand new spa in the bay area and its not in the city! I am usually a regular at Burke Williams but lately their facility has gotten rather worn down and dirty. As soon as i saw this new spa during spa week, i immediately made an appointment. It was all bliss from there. The spa itself is beautiful, so serene, clean and modern! The employees treated me very well. I felt like a was a regular client already! I had the 60 minute massage and it was probably one of the best massages i have ever been given. I had a 60 minute aromatherapy massage with Ramona. I frequently go to spas and I was highly impressed with the facility as well as the service. Ramona had a great touch and was an absolute joy to chat with. She made me feel at ease and relaxed. One of the best massage therapists I've ever had. The facility itself was awesome as well. I really loved the layout of the showers. One of the most annoying things about spa showers is that there is nowhere to hang your robe, towel, or underwear, and they end up getting damp. The showers had a separate little area with a stool and a place to hang your towel and robe. It was divided by glass so that it didn't get wet, which I appreciated. The other thing I liked about this spa layout was private carpeted changing rooms. Some women are perfectly comfortable letting it all hang out in the locker room (power to you). But I prefer to not change in front of 10 people. The carpet is a nice touch because then people aren't dragging in water from the showers or flip flops. I also thought the robes were nice and roomy. Lastly, there was a relaxing outdoor zen garden to read in and a outdoor hot tub surrounded by relaxing bamboo. There was also fresh plums and lemonade, as well as chilled mini bottles of water. All in all, probably my favorite spa in the Bay Area. I might even say it's better than the Four Seasons. read more
