Review for Immersion Spa ‍ I absolutely loved this place, and to this day, I still miss it. When I lived in the Bay Area, I was a faithful and loyal customer at Immersion. It became one of my favorite self-care rituals. I would bring family and friends, and I went regularly--about once every quarter. It was something I always looked forward to. There is currently no Korean spa in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I live now, and the closest option is in Atlanta. So yes... boo-hoo. Nothing quite compares to this experience. What made Immersion special was the sense of freedom and relaxation the moment you walked through the door. The spa is thoughtfully organized, very clean, and beautifully maintained. You store your belongings in secure lockers, receive a waterproof wristband, and then the entire experience begins. I always arrived at least 90 minutes before my massage so I could fully enjoy the amenities. That extra time was part of the magic. My favorite features included: * The hot tub and invigorating cold plunge * The wet sauna and dry sauna * The gentle, calming warmth of the Himalayan salt room * Complimentary roasted tea and water * High-quality bath and shower products in the women's area * A peaceful, well-run environment with clear structure and cleanliness standards Everything felt intentional and relaxing. My go-to service was always the Fusion massage, which blends shiatsu and deep tissue techniques using organic coconut oil. The therapists were incredibly skilled and intuitive--they knew exactly how to work out tension and restore balance. Some of the best massages I've ever had were here. Over the years, prices have increased slightly--as they have everywhere. I remember paying around $100 before COVID, and later seeing it closer to $130. Even so, the value of the experience made it worth every dollar. I was there hook, line, and sinker. A few practical notes for future guests: * Parking is limited and shared with neighboring businesses (including Kumon), so timing matters * The spa has separate men's and women's areas * No outside shoes are allowed inside the spa * Clothing is optional in designated areas, which is standard for Korean spa culture * Plan to arrive early to fully enjoy the amenities before your service One service I personally never tried was the traditional Korean body scrub. I watched others experience it, and while many people love it, it looked a little too intense for my taste. That said, the massages and spa amenities are absolutely exceptional. If you're considering a membership, it's worth exploring. This is the kind of place that becomes part of your routine once you experience it. I still haven't found anything in the Southeast that truly matches the level of service, atmosphere, and overall experience of Immersion. I keep looking--but this one set the bar very high. My daughter and I are always looking for daddy daughter dates and Immersion Spa is our latest success story. The front desk had two young ladies that were super polite and got us setup. We arrived early so we could take advantage of the showers, saunas and hot tubs. The locker rooms and sauna areas are divided by gender and are full of amenities. After that we met with our massage therapist and had the best 85 minutes of deep tissue work. Post massage we headed back to the separate locker rooms and had full access to the amenities again. Check out was positive and our friends at the front desk were just as supportive and kind. I've seen other reviews of other Spas harassing clients for tips or add on services this is not the case at Immersion. Additionally I left my water bottle at the spa and when I contacted them they had it waiting for pick up. I recommend this place for daddy daughter dates, solo self care or a couples retreat! read more

Visited for the first time yesterday night. What an interesting vibe. There was an older white gentleman, maybe Russian (?), he was wearing one of those hats for the sauna. Anyways, he kept looking at two younger Latino looking guys. At one point in the locker area he had his phone out (sort of looked like he was taking pictures but couldn't tell). The 2 Latino guys kept trying to ignore him and he seemed annoyed. I don't know what happened, but he said something to one of the workers, and the worker said something to them. They left quickly after. The Russian guy watched them leave while having his phone out in the locker area (couldn't tell what he was doing) which just seemed strange. I'm not used to the nudity and it was uncomfortable seeing the phone out so I didn't stay more than an hour. This type of place probably isn't for me. read more

They have improved since the last time I went and I love it even more! New and more small amenities that make your experience nicer, better signage and communication, and new scrub bed surfaces that are less slippery. I always get a scrub and never the same one since I never can decide what extra perks I want with my Korean scrub. I only utilize the showers (both sitting and standing), hot tub, the phone/sitting area when I have to send a text or email, sometimes the salt room, and then the finishing (?) room. If it's your first time, be sure to ask for the procedure, not sure they will always know as some check in attendants aren't as attentive to your account as I had a gift card on my account but they went straight to charging me for the services. My only feedback to them is that the website services listed differ from the booking site that you're taken to after you click "Book". Likely just an oversight when they built out the website, but definitely check your email for full details of what you booked, not the website! read more

It is easily accessible and has a parking lot. We came around 10 before our appointment at 12 to use the amenities. When we enter, we check in and are given a body towel and hair/face towel. We also were given a key to the lockers. It's two different sections; women's and men's area. Once we got the key you open the door to the area and get shoes. Then you switch shoes and go to the locker area where you can change etc. This spa is swimsuit optional and majority of women did not wear swimsuits. We put on our robes and go to the main area where there's a jacuzzi, cold plunge, eucalyptus steam room, and dry sauna. Then in between that area, they have the scrub section where you get the Korean scrub. When it was our turn our number was called (same number as our locker). They recommend soaking 15-20 minutes before your treatment. The full body scrub was so rejuvenating. They really scrub thoroughly and also wash your hair/face. My lady Lee was so great! Then right after the scrub, we booked a massage. It was also very relaxing and the pressure was good. It was very relaxing also. The whole day was a great experience. After the massage, we showered and then got ready in the area with hair dryers and skincare near the lockers. It was a great and relaxing day. If you want a quiet spa experience, this may not be the best one for you because you can hear talking from one area to other areas. Also, the shower area isn't fully enclosed and are mini stalls so if you aren't comfortable with that, just note that before you come. I loved this place and will be back! read more

Best spa I've been to in the Bay Area so far. Online reservation is recommended, but walk-ins are easily available on weekdays. The facility is clean and provides slippers, towels, and bath robes. Male and female are separated, except for in the couple's massage room. There's a salt room for women and a jade room for men, a dry sauna, steam room, hot tub, and cold plunge. I always like to get the "black tie" which entails 25min of Silky Scrub + 85 minutes of deep tissue massage, or any massage of your choice. The full body exfoliating scrub is unique to Korean spas. The technique of the masseuse is very professional and skillful. Highly recommend if you haven't been here yet! read more

Got the Silky scrub thats 25 minutes. Bare minimum, a full body scrub with a shampoo and she even did a face wash for me which I didnt expect (the online description doesn't mention it). Went here last month (or so) for a GDO with 2 gfs. I was a little apprehensive purely because I didn't know what to expect. (First time visiting a bath house...) Front staff wasn't as inviting as you would think a place like this would be too create a feeling of welcoming and relaxation. There was a lot of info/instructions given and by the time I was brought back into the locker room and amenities area, I kinda forgot what they were. I would DEF RECOMMEND bringing thin sandals next time mainly for the restroom use, feels a little gross to go in barefooted IMO. Overall, the place is pretty small. There's a Himalayan Salt dry Sauna--prob my fav, a steam room, cold plunge, and a hot tub, and a shower and blow dry area for after when you are done and need to get ready to leave. My lady who did the bath was excellent. As mentioned, I had no idea what to expect but the moment I laid down, she poured the perfect temp water all over my body to wash. Then she did a pretty lengthy scrub and massage and everything felt GREAT! (Front, back, side positioning and all. ) In the final cleanse she told me to put my hands together and cupped and she poured a milk like substance and told me to put in my face and THAT smelled and felt SO GOOD! (Don't know if they offered that but I would've bought it!) I don't know if I'd come back to this one, but I'd definitely try another place to compare. (Later that week, I kinda suspected that her hard scrub might bring about open pores to create "bumps" on the back of my arms and it did, but in a good way. ) Definitely a unique experience. My husband and I had some free time without the kids so we decided on getting a massage. We called day of and the spa had an appt for a couples massage same day. We arrived about 45 min prior to our appt so we can try out the amenities. Theres plenty of parking. The receptionist was fairly friendly however since it was our first time there I expected some kind of tour but she just talked us through the different sides. When you walk in through the lockers, they ask you place your shoes on a shelf or inside your locker. They don't allow flip flops or slippers throughout the spa. I felt like maybe they should offer some disposable ones or reusable slippers.. I thought I was going to fall and slip since a lot of the floor was went from the amenities. They ask for a phone free environment which is nice and have a small area in the front of the locker area for cell phone use. As far as the amenities.. the eucalyptus steam room was great. The sauna was good too except I wish I got a little hotter. The hot tub was a huge NO for me. The jets weren't on... there were already a couple people in there.. and assumed they didn't want it on. I went in to just feel the water and you can just see things in the water that totally grossed me out. I immediately went out. The ice pool was nice and refreshing if you plan on doing any circuits. And the salt room was quiet and relaxing. For the massage it was good. The techniques they do differ from your typical Burke Williams type massage.. it felt a bit more rough and quick, but the pressure was great. Overall I give this place a 3.5 for my experience. My husband though thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Would I come back? Probably.. I would just skip out on the tub if it doesn't look too sanitary. OMG. My mom, sister and I treat ourselves to massages together annually and have tried various places across the Bay Area - including super swanky spas - hands down the Pure Bliss treatment and massage was all our favorite - we will be back! The Pure Bliss starts with a Korean body scrub, the one where they remove all your dead skin which is incredibly satisfying (and a little horrifying), then a warm rinse followed by a *very* thorough and very relaxing massage, in which they even wash your hair for you, followed by a milk cleanse for your face. Our treatment ladies were all very hardworking and professional - I can't believe how hard they work in these 90 minute treatments. Don't expect to be fawned over - these are Korean ajummas - all business, and I love it. You will never feel as clean and refreshed afterwards! I recommend arriving 90 minutes early to enjoy the Himalayan salt room, hot tub, cold plunge, sauna and steam rooms as you like. Can wear swimsuit or go naked (women-only area). The treatments/massages take place in a small area next to the hot tub/steam/sauna room, so it's a different setting than usual massages and not quite as private but you have your own curtained area and it all was amazing. It's possible to book multiple massages simultaneously if you go with friends/family which is also nice since we always like to go together. read more

12/14/24 For my birthday this year, I wanted to do something relaxing, so my husband and I decided to try out Immersion Spa. I booked the Pure Bliss treatment which consists of a full body scrub, massage, face mask and milk rinse. When you book online, your credit card is used to hold the slot; you pay for the treatment when you get there. You can check in earlier to use the amenities: the hot tub, salt room, steam room, and ice plunger. They are located in a small plaza, with a small parking lot in front. When you enter, you will see the front desk, then based on your gender, you will go either left (men) or right (women) Zach and I were 20-30 minutes early. He went to park and I went in first. After checking in, I went to the women's side and placed my things in a locker that they loan you for the time you are there. It felt weird, but I got fully naked so I wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb with my undergarments still on. While I was waiting for my treatment to begin, I utilized the hot tub and the steam room. It was very quiet inside which was nice. I would have preferred to listen to my music to help pass the time, but they have a rule that you can't use your phones while in the spa. My entire treatment was about 90 minutes. I was helped by Michelle. I had never gotten a body scrub so it felt really rough, but I understand that she needed to do that to scrape off the dead skin. It was kinda gross to see my dead skin all over the table and floor, but my skin felt so smooth and soft by the end of it. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. The next section is my husband's experience: READER BEWARE.............. Unfortunately, Zach had a TERRIBLE experience. When he got into the men's locker room, he saw that many of the men were naked. He didn't feel comfortable so he kept his underwear on and wrapped a towel around his waist also. He loves using the steam room so he went in there to wait until it was time for his massage. In the steam room, there was a couple in there engaging in oral s*x and the guy doing it looked at my husband and gave him a look then asked "want to join?" My husband declined politely as he could and left the steam room as quickly as possible. He tried not to think about what had just happened and was hoping the massage would take his mind off things. Zach said that his massage was one of the worst ones he ever had. He felt that the lady wasn't applying enough pressure so when he asked for more pressure, she did add more pressure, but at the same time was doing something that burned his skin. Once the massage was done, he quickly dressed and left the spa. He was already out before I was done. He had texted me if I was done, and that he really wanted to leave. read more

I don't know what kind of sorcery this place has, but my experience was perfection. I went on 5/12/26. It was a Mother's Day gift. My daughter and I went an hour early and enjoyed the amenities, hot tub,dry/wet sauna and cold plunge. Then we were swept away to what began as an out-of-body experience. If you are shy, then this place is not for you. They proceeded to scrub down every inch of my body for about 30 minutes, then washed me down with buckets of warm water and soap. Then came the hot oil massage, again, every inch, then another body wash, a facial mask of some sort, hair wash, and head massage. From start to finish, we were there for about 3 hours. If you enjoy using the spa before a scheduled treatment, the price point to do so is excellent, and this spa is one of the cleanest! However, you must be comfortable roaming in the nude. No spa slippers or bathing suits are permitted when using the hot tub, ice bath, sauna, steam room or salt room. Don't forget cash for tips! My gf and I had our scheduled massages for 11:30 and decided to arrive about 30 minutes early to indulge in the spa amenities. The friendly front desk girls will give you a couple towels, a robe and a locker key at the time of check-in. Once you enter the spa, shoes are to be removed at the door and items stored in your assigned locker. Turn your cell phone down and continue preserving the serenity in the atmosphere with little to no talking. We disrobed and entered the hot tub. Then, we made our way to the ice bath for a minute which makes you feel amazing before entering the eucalyptus steam room. From the steam room, we spent our final moments before massage time soaking in the calming effects in the salt room. As our appointment approached, we had some hot tea, sat in the tiny waiting area until the ladies called us by locker number. The deep tissue massage was extremely relaxing, loosened up my whole body (including my face/head) and really put the icing on the cake for the entire experience. These ladies have strong hands! Once, our session was over, we returned to the shower area to remove the oils and wash our hair. The provision of Aveda products for hair and skin is very much appreciated! They have combs, blow dryer and after shower hair conditioning treatment also. On our way out, we dropped our envelopes with cash tips for our masseuses and headed to lunch! Immersion Spa does a great job of taking traditional Korean sauna/spa (JjimJil Bang) and making it modern and approachable for those new to it, and to dip their toes into this spa culture! It is fully nude, if you are not comfortable with that please book a private spa/sauna room. It is a communal experience. I opted for a scrub and a spa pass which includes the hot tub, cold plunge, dry sauna and steam room. The spa/sauna is on the small side but enjoyed the bright light within the pool area. The sitting area to wash up is plentiful and great if you decide to scrub yourself there if not choosing the service. The sauna is on the smaller side I would say maybe 3 people fit comfortable, but nice and hot. Steam room was infused with eucalyptus and wasn't too steamy and decent visibility. Salt room was warm enough, relaxing and quiet. The scrub here at Immersion is probably one of the better scrubs I've had! For those unfamiliar, this service is not meant to be relaxing by any means. They are literally scrubbing every nook and cranny to exfoliate you from head to toe. Being scrubbed down, flipped around and getting water sloshed onto your body does feel like you're going through a human car wash ... but it's so worth it! The shampoo, head massage and face washing reminded me of core memories as a child and my mother figures. Yujin was very sweet and checked to make sure pressure was okay during the scrub and was very detailed. Instructions to reposition were short commands. It was enough to understand, but just language barrier things ig. I actually like the beds here as they aren't too slippery with just enough texture and soft enough. I love that Immersion carries Aveda products and helped myself to their facial toner and hair products. There are other basics like brushes that you can sanitize, hair dryers and hair products. They also provide an herbal tea which was hot and a relaxing way to end my spa day. I did think it was strange that they did not have a slipper option when not in shoes, but the floors were textured and did not seem slick at all. I also like that they provide simple robes, opposed to the bright and boxy uniform looking attire they usually provide at other Korean spas. The spa/sauna is gender separated here. Typically, K spas have separated ares for just hot tubs and services. In communal areas, they are coed and family oriented. As well as a dining area. There are no communal areas for coed or dining here. Please bring cash for tips for your services! read more

From the beginning of discovering this spa. I had originally given the spa a (4) stars. Yet after the last few experiences, the spa has shifted to a bathhouse for sexual perversion not appropriate for public spaces. I'm not a prude and do believe in safe spaces for such things to occur. Yet it's extremely uncomfortable to come to place to relax from the weeks works stress only to stumble upon men doing things I'm not allowed to share on this review. I'm embarrassed to have recommended this place to coworker and friends only to hear them report back that they were sexually advanced on or walked into *rg*. My first time at a Korean spa and it was here at Immersion. I didn't know what to expect but I arrived early an hour before my appointment. The lady in the calvin Klein sweater at the register was extremely rude and her attitude was unnecessary. She gave us towels and pointed towards the lockers and I had to ask again, if there's anything we should be aware of because this is our first time here. With her stinky attitude, she said I already told you. I hope she is not employed here long because she's obviously not happy working here. What a disappointing check in for a Pure Bliss Plus treatment for $170. We walk into the women's lockers. Placed or shoes into the rack and took a robe. Went to our assigned lockers and undressed. Everyone is basically naked. There is a salt room, dressing area, hot tub, cold dip pool, sauna and steam room. I spent a good 10 minutes reading the instructions on the wall and really didn't know what I was in for. Then Monica called my number. This is when the magic happened. We went to our assigned shower table, undressed. This isn't a place to be modest. You start face down and they throw the hot water on your back and begin the scrubbing. I felt my dead skin cells and my former life scrubbed away. Every nook and cranny she was diligently scrubbing the demons out of me. Then you flip over, spread eagle at times, and more demon scrubbing. It was like a life changing experience with both pain and relaxation at the same time. I had seen my dead skin cells and now fully disgusted about how I thought I was clean when I wasn't. Pure Bliss Treatment included a thorough scrub, mud face mask, and hair wash, and milk treatment at the end. I felt like a brand new person who didn't know my own name. So 4 stars on the treatment but minus 1 star for stinky attitude faced receptionist. read more
