Senza Maeso has been our favorite place to have cocktails, meet friends and hear a variety of local music since they opened a little over 2 years ago. It was a community of the best people I have ever met . Sadly they were unable to meet their financial goals and they announced that were closing at the end of the month. I'm 84 years old and I've seen a lot if places. Ryan and Jay created an experience that we will never forget. I'm hoping they live on in billions and billions of alternate realities. read more

I think this is an okay place- fun vibes inside and outside, very cute set up. I did not care for any of the drinks we tried. I know Senza is its own thing and it's Smokey- which I can't stand- however- they do have other drinks- but they weren't great. Bartenders were fine but I had to ask for water a few times and they were mostly concerned with taking care of their regulars- which, I get it. I would say if you like an Austin hippy and different vibe with hella different Smokey drinks this is your place! read more

Tucked away in San Marcos is a funky, eclectic tasting room with unique Mezcal and Vodka drinks. There was a live guitar player when I went and the vibe was chilled and laid back. We drive down Devil's Backbone on our way from Driftwood to Canyon Lake just about every weekend, and we've been so curious about this new joint that popped up in the spring of this year just past the turn off from RR12, about a mile before the DB Tavern. Tonight we finally stopped at Senza Maeso ("without master") Tasting Room and I know we'll be back. You may have seen this unique gooseberry & herb-infused spirit for sale around Central Texas in places like Spec's and Total Wine, but to get the full experience, a visit to the tasting room is a must. Twin brothers Ryan and Jay Gitman have created the perfect cocktail bar experience for the Texas Hill Country. There's beautiful decor, a few witty nods to a fascination with outer space, a creative menu, and skilled mixologists behind the bar to serve these wonderfully complex but balanced adult beverages. We tasted samples of the delicious frozen watermelon coolie and the Senza Maeso spirit neat, what a trip. I think I've found a new favorite liquor for cocktails. It's slightly bitter, slightly tangy, slightly herbal, not like anything familiar. After the samples, I went for the Senza Julep, muddled as the bartender told us the story of the place. It had all my favorite notes in a cocktail and I savored every drop. My date ordered the smokey Visions of Mescal, another homerun drink reminiscent of a margarita on the rocks with a spicy salted rim. We hosted the welcome event for our wedding at Senza and could not be happier with our experience!! We worked with Jennine and she helped to coordinate everything, was extremely transparent about pricing and drink packages, and even coordinated to have one of our favorite local bands play that night!!! It made this event for our wedding weekend so memorable and our guests still talk about how much they loved the space. Great little high-end cocktail bar out here in the hill country. Owner is a master bartender, skills I haven't seen since my days back in NYC. We were greeted immediately by the friendly bartenders and offered samples of the Senza Maeso and Vodka. The bartender provided great detail on Senza Maeso and how they make it. It has a unique, kind of sweet flavor, and is made with dried gooseberry. He even let us try a dried gooseberry! After our samples we enjoy a few of their handcrafted cocktails which were all delicious- Visions of Mezcal, Pink Cadillac, and Thyme Between Two Pines. The ambience is really cool - shout out to whoever decorated! It's a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. They have a lot of outdoor seating and I did see they even have a disc golf basket and discs to mess around with. Had some new, delicious cocktails at Sensa Maeso. Their signature liquor is something to explore. The bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable about their fare. The Carl Sagan video playing in the restrooms is an additional treat. We heard an amazing show on the patio by Katie Starr, a delightful local musical talent and it was so enjoyable!
