Wish I could give a negative rating. I WILL NOT return. Two weeks ago I spent $500 at this store. Today, I wanted to get a new foundation and it seemed the ladies were more interested in talking to each other than customer service. I will not hunt you down or interrupt your conversation to ask for help. I WILL happily drive out of my way and pay for parking at the Grove. At least they know customer service. read more

I work in the area and thought I would pop in to check and see if they had the makeup I saw online in store only to be given some of the worst customer service I've probably ever had. And this isn't the first time with sephora...I was finally "greeted" by someone (after 10 minutes walking around looking lost) whom I was later told by my friend that had gone in with me was the manager with a "are you looking for something?" Her tone was almost like she was bothered. When I told her I was in looking for this makeup she quickly said their location did not carry it. Just like the first time I visited sephora...no one greeted me....no one offered to help me find anything...no one offered to help me locate another type of make up that I might like or help me to color match. I went into the store close to closing time, sorry guys! I asked to be color matched for makeup and the associate was very helpful and did so with a smile. I was almost the last person in the store. For such a nice mall I find that this store is always out of stock of certain items, of course they are always the ones I need. read more

All I can say is... Hooray!!! I went in to the Sephora store at Westfield Topanga mall with some concerns about products I had received as gifts which were by companies that do testing on animals. I had done research online and was pleased to find that Sephora carries quite a full selection of cruelty free brands! I chose a new moisturizer (Murad), eyebrow pencil (Too Faced), and eye cream (First Aid Beauty) online and went in with my list. Right away an associate helped me locate the items that I was looking for and I am so happy they had each item in stock! Then, I went to the register to explain my situation and make the exchange. Its a little embarrassing returning items for any reason but Cindy, who I believe is the/ a store manager, was SO understanding! I worked in customer service for over 5 years and I have a high standard for service; she blew me away! Not only was she helpful - patiently helping me return the items that had been given to me by 2 different family members - without receipts, but she congratulated me on my cruelty free efforts :) She has a great attitude and was easy to talk to, while, at the same time, being extremely efficient. I really hope she gets a raise or bonus - rock star employee!! I tried giving her a cash tip at the end and she politely refused as it is policy not to accept, so professional. Wish I could've given her SOMETHING! Oh well, she just earned my business and I look forward to shopping here again. read more

Girls are super helpful and friendly . I've been there on the weekdays when it's not that busy and weekends when it's super busy and each time I've been welcome with a smile and helpful associates. My personal background: I've worked retail as a backroom kid, greeter, sales, management, and corporate. My son and I went here on Mother's Day to get some products. Normally, I just plunk down some cash and purchase gift cards for the wife and other family members. This time, we wanted to get some products. I'm a salesperson's dream: Sort of clueless about the products, in the mood to purchase (as soon as possible), and has income to support my needs. We walked in and were not greeted. We proceeded to walk past 6 salespeople without even an acknowledgement of our presence. After 14-16 minutes of us sniffing and trying products, not really knowing what we wanted to get, all the while walking throughout the entirety of the store, we decided to leave. Upon leaving, we went towards an employee who seemed to be part of the management crew (here name is Gia). She was talking to another employee. We stood right next to them. They moved over a little. We moved a little. Finally, I just said to my son, "...I just don't know where it is" loud enough for her to hear me. She then asked if she could help me. I told her that maybe within the last 14-16 minutes, that would have been great, but now we are on our way out to purchase items somewhere else. I told her that we have been there throughout the store and not one of the associates stopped to see if we needed any assistance. I asked her, "How many people do you have on the floor right now, 7 or eight?" She told me 8. I told her that I knew it was around that amount as I proceeded to identify where the associates were throughout the store. I turned around to leave and we spent our money at The Body Shop (see other review), just a few stores away. Normally I wouldn't dwell on my experience, and leave it at that, but it was the snarky "have a nice day" remark she blurted out as we were leaving the store. At no time did I use profanity, raise my voice, or disparage her. I just wanted to let her know that we were highly disappointed with our experience. read more

I'm addicted to this store. Mainly because the employees there will give you a quick makeup tutorial on any product there for free and you decide whether it's the right look for you or not. They always make time to make sure that you are in complete satisfy with your products. I bought a contour palette not too long ago and I guess I dropped it and the powder was destroyed and I was devastated. I took it back today hoping to get at least a discount since it was my fault and the employee there just handed me a new one to exchange for my damaged one. It's a great store and all the employees are approachable and will help with any questions you can give them. read more

Worst service ever!!! I'm serious I walked and all the girls working there didn't even asked what I needed or helped at all. They actually just stared and made expressions. I asked if I could get colored match and the lady didn't look me to my face and said it was going to take a "while" waited for like 15 minutes and she was helping another lady who got there a while after me. I think this sephora should work on their customer service and the workers there should know you have to help to sell. Honestly worst service I have ever gotten in any beauty store in general. I then went to Macy's and bought what I needed and the service there was nothing compared to Sephora's they helped me right away and were polite. Next time I will go anywhere else other than sephora. I'm glad Valencia Town Center now actually *has* a Sephora however I've primarily encountered salespeople who don't know as much as I do about the product lines they sell. That's always a problem. Over time I've learned to use this store properly. That is, I go in to see a product or smell a fragrance... in person... and then I order on the website. A problem with this particular store is they don't carry many of the standard product lines that most Sephora's carry. That's strange because it's not a small store, it's actually rather large. Sometimes they'll carry just one single product from a particular product line so if you call them up to ask if they carry XYZ brand, they'll say yes, then you get there to find oh sure they carry item A only from that line and what you're interested in are items B and C so you wasted your time. Once nice thing about Sephora's, in general, is the ability to get a sample of pretty much anything in the store. This way you have an idea if you're going to love or hate it before you spend your money on it. This definitely leads to fewer returns. Win/Win for you and the store. read more
