A zero star experience, try to stop by to get a sample of Sunday Riley's new oil called ufo, person called Anna gave me ten minute speech that is worthless to get sample for skin care. And she also claimed that even I got ten year worth of sample would still has no effect on my skin, and she go on and said I didn't look like I cleanse n put moisturiser on my skin. While I was telling her Sunday Riley's amermis oil is discontinuing, she insist that is not! While I feel like I know more skin care brand than her she still manage to behave like a two year old that band the truth while stating that she is so proud being fifty n stick to one skin care brand. I refused to be mean n stay nice n talk to her. At first I found it funny the way she can put truth upside down but thought she really put Sephora in a bad name. I am reaching my vib status now.n I DID get my previous 120 dollar oil there, but I probably would just go back to my norddy(Nordstrom) to get the oil if it sits right with my skin. I want to try the maple coup essense but since she refused to let me have a sample, I am thankful that I don't need to spend my money on that then! Sephora, you were good before! Every time i can to do place i end spending like 2hrs or more mostly because the staff is understaffed and they don't always apply the discount they advertise unless you make a scene. but other than that the girls working there are friendly and helpful. Went in for a quick visit to try to find a foundation that wouldn't melt off my skin like all the others do. Didn't have any idea what to look for so as I wandered around the store, I was offered help by a very sweet makeup artist named Leah. She had beautiful makeup so I figured she knew what she was going to be talking about. Even though she was busy with other tasks, she took her time to help me find the right shade and offered me a sample so I could try before I invested $50 in the foundation. Spent over $600 this month at Sephora to create a brand new skincare routine, came back to it yesterday to buy the Tatcha c serum. Although they were sold out (no problem) the employee said it sucked, I moved on to the Drunk Elephant C serum and was told not to purchase it by a staff member as well because apparently that sucked too. They tried to veer me onto Youth To The People. I wasn't interested so decided to just buy Tatcha online. I came up to another staff member to ask a question about whether I should be putting on oil or moisturize first as I've been told different things, amongst telling the staff my entire skin care routine (extremely researched expensive top brands) I was told my entire skincare routine was shit and I should throw it all out and buy the entire Youth To The People. She went on to tell me the history of that entire brand, I felt stuck as though I had no choice but to listen. It went on for another 10 minutes. As I was walking out the door I heard other employees recommending ONLY that brand, belittling other brands. Maybe that day they were paid commission to sell that specific product but I wouldn't trust the reviews on that brand on the website as well. Horrible service. They made me feel very welcomed. Two employees watched me walk around multiple times looking for a product and didn't offer any help. When I finally found the foundation I was looking for I couldn't get help with color matching. One employee watched me stand there looking for help but did not offer to help me or even acknowledge I was even there. I am a frequent Sephora shopper, I know when an employee is busy helping another customer they will either let you know they'll be with you as soon as they are done or they will call for help from another employee. I never write reviews or never thought I would write one. I just come on yelp to find places but this experience I had at Sephora is just something I need to express. was here on Sunday with my mom and I needed help if they had this other shade because they ran out on the display. So I asked this worker next to me with short blonde hair, she was short, she had blue eyeshadow I believe, and she was stocking products to its section. When I asked, she didn't bother to even look at me and just answered rudely as if I'm bothering her. A customer shouldn't feel like they're bothering an employee unless the customer is rude but I asked politely and a simple question. But I just let it go anyways. So when she was going to look for the product in the bottom drawer, my mom was kind of in the way of it. Then she told my mom "move" in a disrespectful way and did a hand gesture to move away. That's when I felt really triggered. She could've at least told my mom "excuse me". Like what kind of customer service are you giving? I've never encountered a worker give that type of attitude. I ended up not saying anything to this lady because I just didn't want to deal with someone like that anymore and just asked another nice lady for help. But I really wish I said something at the moment but I was too speechless. I'm a waitress myself and I know what it's like to feel in rush but you should never take your stress into an attitude towards people. Let me start out with that it's not just this Sephora that's guilty of dissing the older demographic of women. I have experienced this at other (Large) locations. I am a mom of a 19 year old daughter who loves make-up. So as we enter the store we are a little separated from each other as though we aren't together, because she is so excited, she being like Tigger as she goes in. She gets welcomed, and handed a shopping basket. As I stroll behind a bit like Eeyore the rep turns away and acts as if she did not see me and did not acknowledge me. We go our separate ways, then I see my daughter getting the royal treatment at the beauty bar getting advice, and given lots of samples. No one has yet attempted to approach me, not even when I went to see what they were doing with my daughter, I was not asked if I was interested in being a part of the fun to see if there was any products I might want for myself. I spent a lot of money on my daughter that day as a treat for getting good grades. But had the reps given me the time of day, I may have spent double that amount. Managers let your reps know it's the MOMS with the $$ in their wallets, or the ones putting the $$ in their kids wallets. read more

This review is for TIELLE. I'd like to share my great experience and say how helpful and attentive Tielle was. I walked in needing foundation and a young lady assisted me, I forgot her name though. She was very nice and helpful. Shortly after, Tielle took over to help me match the foundation to my skin since the area I was in was her area of expertise. Let me tell you, I normally don't write reviews unless I'm blown away by one's service or completely disappointed; however, in this case, Tielle had blown me away. She's very passionate and it shows. Tielle took the time to assist me and gave me some advice about choosing foundation. After I picked my color, she went above and beyond and fixed the other side of my face and added some setting powder and blush so I wouldn't leave the store looking pale. She could've easily not taken those extra steps and moved on to assisting another customer but she didn't. That's what I call customer service. Tielle exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond so I really appreciate that. read more

I always to flag someone down and chase them around as they help someone else. It's messy and all the testers are super gross. I was literally in the store for 2 minutes and had one of the worst experiences. I've been looking for a particular Juicy Couture perfume for awhile and I've gotten lucky in certain Sephora stores so I figured since I was at the Americana, I would pop in and see if they had it. I walked straight back to the fragrance section and saw an employee standing there with her hand on her walkie. I stood there for a second to make sure she saw me and I didn't say anything as to not interrupt her if she was listening to whoever was on the other end of walkie. She didn't acknowledge me so I told her I had a question. She didn't say anything at all, so I figured she was still listening to her walkie....she then gestures at me like "hello what do you want" still without saying a word. I asked to see if they had the perfume and she goes "NO!" and literally doesn't offer any other assistance and just stood there acting like I had interrupted her day. I wish I had gotten her name and spoken to the manager about it. I'm out a lot and I seriously haven't experienced such horrible customer service in a very long time. I am obsessed this Sehpora! The people are always so nice and helpful (most of them). I love how big this Sephora is! However I went in today wanting to get a sample of a new setting spray from Tarté, and I asked one lady (older women with blonde hair) to help me and she said," How do you want me to give you a sample of a spray?" I asked "Can you just use one of the fragrance sample tubes and fill it with the spray?" She laughed it off and said okay and went to get a little sample tube. I was waiting and she passed by me 3 times not speaking to me as she filled the tube (which was a little over half full.-mind you the tubes are barely an inch tall.) After she was finished she turned around and gave me the tube filled with the setting spray and is said "Thank you" politely with a big smile (this was my first time asking for a sample EVER) and she just turned around to go and put away the bottle and acted like I wasn't even there. Like, okay? I passed by here several times because I planned to buy something as well but she didn't even look at me, like I was ghost or something. It felt as if I was just some girl who liked to get free stuff and didn't plan on purchasing anything. And even if I didn't want to buy anything , you shouldn't have an unfriendly attitude like that. Oh well, this is still my favorite Sephora. However, if I want to get another sample of Anything, I might just go across the street inside the JCPenny Sephora and get them there, I know for a FACT Every employee over there is super helpful! read more

So I purchased a Dior 360 mascara at the sephora in Manhattan Beach and when I got home and tried it out and I hated it! I saved the receipt so that I can get my $43.00 back. I was in the glendale area so I decided to return it at this one... So usually they greet you when you walk in but I guess they don't at this location, any who, I go to the cashier stand and realize that the receipt isn't in the bag but I decided to see if they would make an exception and waited to be helped.. There is one employee cashering and it took a minute for another employee to decide and help her out. FINALLY it is my turn!! So as I explain that I am not satisfied with the product she begins to examine the mascara and the box it came in! She then says "seems that a piece is missing!" Obviuosly she isn't familiar with the product that sephora carries because this mascara comes in two parts and once you use it then it is only one tube. She completely disregarded the reason I was there and offered to replace it with a new 360!!!!! Not ONLY did she insult me by making it seem as though I was returning half of the product but she was SO busy inspecting it to hear that I was not happy with it! I told her I knew about their return policy and would locate the receipt to get a refund. I called and complained because I feel that a place with prices like sephora should also offer the same quality of customer care! I love this place! It was so busy because of the holidays and they still were so helpful with finding me what I was looking for and the line flew by! Alfonso was our super sweet cashier and because of the iPhone's they use to check you out it flew by! What could've been a nightmare was actually great, and I really appreciate him and the store ! I usually shop at this sephora and the one in Old Town Pasadena but lately I find myself more at the glendale location due to the layout and space. Now I have been a religious sephora customer since they opened. Overall my experience with Sephora is OKAY. I personally feel like the associates are snobs and ALWAYS trying to rush you out. Now I went into this sephora the other day looking for new foundation to sample NOT buy. It was extremely crowded to the holidays. I went up to Marlena she's a seasonal worker and told her exactly what I was looking. She asked me what kind of skin I have and all that good stuff. Then she color matched me with the machine and showed me all my options on foundations. WE both agreed that I would try the Urban Decay Naked I said okay. Marlena tried four different shades on me until WE BOTH agreed that it was a perfect match. I loved how she personally stayed with me for over twenty minutes and showed me every single product she was putting on my face and what it does and why I should get it. I left sephora purchasing over $100 of products because Marlena was that great that she had sold me right there on the spot. Never in all my years shopping at sephora have I had such a wonderful experience at the sephora and been so confident in my purchase !! I arrived to sephora for my custom makeover at 11 for a wedding I was in that started at 1pm. I checked in with one of the girls as they called someone to come and give me my make over. I sat at the beauty bar and waited. Another girl sits at the beauty bar next to me. The make up artist arrives and sees her and does her make up! I did not see her check in our anything. That person just came minuets after me and she was assisted with MY make over! I called over the person who I checked in with and asked if my make up artist was coming. So she asked in her headpiece about my appointment. Only one person had an appointment that day. I had my confirmation number available. So the manager comes and asks my name. MY name was the one with the appointment. Not that other girl who they had already started her make over. But she stated she had a confirmation as well. (I'm assuming her makeover is in the galleria)The manager said they were having problems with their system, he apologized and said someone great will do my make up. I waited some more. Thirty minutes pass. No one has come to me to start my make up. I call over the lady again who I checked in with to ask when are they coming. She was like they're not here yet. So she goes and checks. The manager comes back to me gives me the make over for free and the girl doing my make up comes. She's a friendly lady. But in my opinion she needs more training to be doing someone else's make up especially since it's for a special occasion. My make up turned out pretty good... but mistakes were made in the process that took up a lot of time. And it was rushed since i had a wedding to be on at 1pm. They started 30-40 mins late. When i should have been finish is when I started. I don't want to mention particulars since I know they made her do my make up last minute but can tell that she is not one of the people who usually does the custom makeovers. They have excellent customer service. Today I was looking for a specific dark circles concealer and had my old one as a hint. I asked a store assistant, they got my name and sent a make- up artist to match the color. It was pretty fast and straight forward. I just wish it wasn't as pricy but the quality of the product and service is all worth it. I like the fact that they have testers for all products and assistant to help you with all of it. read more

I buy many products from here. The workers on the floor are always helpful but always rushed. There is this one worker who works in the back near perfume and tarte and so suspicious of everything. One time I went in and was looking at Anastsia products and I held up the brow wiz and said omg look at this I want this. She looked at it also but then we put it back and walked away because I could only get a select amount of things. She came up to me and said "do you need a basket for that" and said "what" and she said "for your eye pencil, do you need a basket for it?" and I said " I don't have one" obviously I showed her I didn't have it. Then she said "what about your friend?" and I told her "we put it back" So she told a worker something and we were like the only ones in there. And the worker followed us everywhere. She watched us and was like taking inventory and asked if we needed help and we said no and left because it was very uncomfortable. Again, I went into the store. I had a basket of stuff and I went to tarte to look at blushes. I picked one and was looking at it, just the packaging. And I saw her and she came from behind me and looked at the product then me and walked away without saying anything. She went out of her way to see what I had and made sure I knew she saw me. LISTEN. Lilit did a makeover and consult for me and she is INCREDIBLE!!! Seriously one of the best makeovers that I have every had my entire life, and I get my make up done often. I definitely want to keep coming back to her. She not only knows her products well, but she has such a great artistic ability to adapt to a person's eye shape and facial structure.
