I love how clean the store is and how friendly the associates are when they ask if you need help. I'd say every time I've been to this location I've had a pleasant experience but just THIS ONE associate I see every now and then is so rude. Idk his name but I can recall that he's often doing makeovers and he also had the blue neon skull for Halloween (sorry that's really weird that I remember that but he's a very distinct associate) I've had 2 experiences where he was pretty rude to me. One time was when he was cashier and he literally did not speak one word to me. Didn't even ask for my VIB card. Didn't even tell me my total. Lol he like, just literally rang me up with no greeting and no smile. The other experience was my friend and I were looking at Fenty and he stood behind us without saying anything, (sorry to assume) in a manner as if he was like "omg get outta my way already" so I just pulled my friend aside so he could grab some products from the gondola. And the other times I've seen him there he never greets or smiles I understand not having a good day and you're just tired of stupid customers who give you a hard time. I work in retail myself and I'm the last person to give an associate a hard time bc I know exactly how it feels. So I never gave this guy a hard time ever lol I never even spoke to him, bc he basically never gave me a chance to! I still shop at this location bc it's so close to home but I know to never ask him for assistance or if I see him at the register I pray I never get him read more

Sephora used to be my go-to make up stop but, not not in Kapolei after my experience at the Ka Makana Alii. One of the Sephora palettes I used to buy is no longer part of the line so in trying to find similar eye shadows and palettes I asked one of the associates to assist me. He looked at the images I showed him on my phone and just said to go and look in the Sephora section (like no duh) but, didn't answer any questions regarding the color scheme. He then told another associate to assist me and she showed me palettes that didn't even match my skin tone and were far from what I wanted. I literally walked out and went to MAC in Macy's, not only were they helpful she also showed me some techniques on how to blend the new color set and mix-match shadows. Now, my new one stop shop is MAC Make-up in Macy's and I recommend you check them out too! read more

Living in the Kapolei area, this Sephora is my go to for shopping makeup or skincare. The reasons: One being close by, but everyone I go, I always get great service. And each time I go a have a billion questions about products I want to buy. They are always so patient. A downside would need to be that being kind of small, they don't always have everything I need in stock. Always the ala Moana, but of course that's because they cater to a lot of people than down here I suppose. Overall, it's clean, the service I receive every time is amazing. Their was on girl, Lani...Aulani...she helped me with my skincare and now I'm using it daily and loving it. Not before the hour I spent talking skincare to her haha. Thank you. The workers at this location are so friendly and sweet. I stopped by after my eyelashes apt. At beauty room, which means I have no make up & im probably still wearing pajama clothes because I'm tired rushing to my morning apts. from town. And that is the most dreadful thing to do... Walk into Sephora looking like ****, because most of the time the workers are rude and snotty. But not here! Everyone was so sweet and kind, and helped me look for exactly what I was looking for. Not a huge SEPHORA store, but it gets the job done and I love how organized and clean it is. I came in to buy Drybar dry shampoo which is something I use on a daily basis. I also decide to grab the Drybar mini straightening brush for my daughter who has the thickest, craziest hair. I asked two of the salesgirls if they'd tried the brush but they had no idea how good it was. It was only $59, so I figured it was worth trying. The store was empty on a weekday afternoon so check out was a breeze and I got a two free travel size dry shampoo products because of my beauty insider points. read more

What I love about this Sephora is that it is very convenient now that there is a location on the west side. What I highly dislike about this location is that... I have been at this location maybe about 5 times and I was never satisfied in the customer service I received upon check out. The stars are mainly for the associates that are on the floor. I can't give 5 stars because of the check out experiences I had. Unfortunately, I always receive sassy and unprofessional associates that are working behind the counter. I just got to say, if you can't work in an industry where good customer service skills are required, then don't work there. I understand that it is the holiday season and work may get overwhelming, but the amount of times I had received bad service upon check out is unacceptable. My first time visiting the Kapolei location and let me just start off by saying, I've been helped by many of the consultants at other locations. But no one has ever truly listened to my concerns & not push to buy expensive products that don't really benefit me at all. This was before I met Olivia. I walked in while she was restocking. She immediately made eye contact and asked if I needed any help. I told her what I needed, just a change up of my current foundation. She immediately sat me down by the makeover station & I proceeded to tell her what products I've been using. After listening to my lengthy & detailed explanation, she gathered up a bunch of products then went to work on my face. While removing my makeup, she throughly explained what she was doing & what benefits I was going to reap from using them. Not once did she push the products, she made the atmosphere really comfortable for me. She was more of a friend than a beauty consultant. This was also the first time a consultant actually took the time to show me a bunch of different foundations along with a mini makeover. Overall, customer service is usually a deciding factor on if I want to return to a place or not. I will definitely be coming here more often because the customer service is excellent! I had gone to Sephora specifically to check out a foundation from Tarte Cosmetics. I was able to find the display, but still needed some help as far as color matching the right foundation. One of their associates had kindly approached me to see if I was doing alright. I mentioned to her that I would like to be color matched to this specific foundation, and she was able to find another associate who could better help me. That's when Hailey (who happened to be a Tarte rep!) had come over, and helped me find the perfect shade for me! She was very kind, and also answered any other questions I had about the other products in the Tarte line. She also gave me a few little pointers about makeup application and demonstrated with the product, on me! For a woman who doesn't often play with makeup, its sometime intimidating to walk into a beauty store where all the associates look gorgeous! So meeting Hailey and having her walk me through some product tips and tricks was very helpful. She even gave me a free sample of a Tarte lip paint! So overall, I'd say I had a very successful shopping experience :) read more

Sephora at Ka Makana Ali'i is Oahu's newest location and a welcome addition to the westside saving many makeup addicts gas money and time. These days my mismatched foundation days are over thanks in part to Sephora's Color IQ, and I no longer apply eyeshadow like a drag queen thanks to god knows how many YouTube tutorials, but sometimes you just need the help of a sales associate. My most recent trip I was looking for a new moisturizer with sunscreen. The sales associate took the time to get my top skin concerns and made a recommendation in my budget. Unfortunately after using the product, I developed a horrible rash and was amazed in the ease of the return. Although I couldn't locate my original receipt, I had proof of purchase in my Sephora app and VIB account. Jensen who was the associate working the cash wrap at the time made things seamless and easy. The store is always neat and organized and there's always an associate on hand if you need assistance. I've found the help at this store to be a lot friendlier than others I've been to on island as well. When feeding my addiction to eyeshadow pallets, lip gloss and all things makeup this is definitely my Sephora of choice. read more

"If I could give zero stars I would" as cliche as that sounds I truly would for this Sephora. Sephora is a great place for makeup and skincare in general, one of the best always will be. But this store in particular, not so much. I had bought a tarte blush once and when I go to use it no product came off at all. No matter how hard I tried to get product there was nothing. So I went to this Sephora to return it, when I try to return it they call this associate over (and I'm assuming we're all talking about the same one). Instead of giving me a refund or even and exchange is what I really wanted, he proceeds to take a spool brush to my blush and scrape off an entire layer and basically deny of an exchange even though it was totally appropriate per their exchange policy. The second encounter I had with associate is tonight. It was near closing time and he was following me around the store to make sure I wasn't stealing anything! I get it I have worked at a mall before I know what's it's like. But I really wish I would have something the first time I encountered this particular associate. read more

I'm giving Sephora Kapolei one star for location. Super close to our house and don't have to travel far for our make up needs. Customer service gets no star. Walked in because we noticed they were not busy so we thought it would be the best time to shop. We were dead WRONG!! My daughters were excited to look at a new line that just came out. No one came by to ask if we needed help or had any questions. It was fine because they were still looking around. Notice one the the workers needed help in finding the correct color for a customer sitting in the chair. 2 other workers came to her rescue and still never gave us eye contact. All 6 of us were standing looking at the same line of makeup with not much room to move. Noticed my daughter tried to move out of their way because one of the workers (piercing on her upper lip area) kept moving closer and closer in front of where my daughter was looking. HOW RUDE!!!! If my daughter didn't move out of her way she probably would've stepped on her feet or bumped her arm. We are paying customers here, we want some kind of respect. Management was notified and asked us what they could do to make it a better experience the next time..TEACH YOUR STAFF ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I went in yesterday to do my makeup and was very pleased with the results. I normally don't ever wear makeup, but it was my boyfriend's Christmas party and the theme was dressed to impress. My appointment was at 1 so I arrived a bit early, luckily another girl was able to answer any questions I had while my makeup artist was setting up for me. I had Iris, and she was absolutely wonderful! She asked me what I had wanted, and I had explained to her the event and how I never wear makeup so this was all new to me. She assured me that she will take care of me and that if at anytime if the makeup is to much for me she will stop and redo it to my liking. I like how each step and product she used she would tell me what it was, and what she was doing. My makeup ended up beautiful, I received many compliments. My experience this past weekend with MAYUMI was great!! She is full of joy, so friendly and very helpful! I went into the store to buy palettes for my sisters Christmas presents and instead of buying just 2, she informed me if I spent $13 more dollars I'd get a free cyber bag. Every time I have gone to makeup counters, I dread asking for help. Believe it or not, I have the hardest time matching a foundation to my skin tone. I almost always feel rushed because I feel bad about how long it takes. I showed up today in hopes of finding a match with the Fenty Beauty line because - hello - 40 shades to choose from. I was approached by Bella, one of the associates, who offered to match me. The process was long. Let me tell you. We sampled shade after shade after shade, going back and forth from the station to the window so I could see how the foundation also looked in natural lighting. I began to feel bad because goodness knows how long I took up her time, how many trips we took. But she was patient and very kind. Not once did I feel pressured to buy something just so it could be over. I honestly could cry because she never once made me feel bad or that I was wasting her time. She wanted to make sure that the foundation formula and the shade would work FOR ME - my skin tone, my skin type. I know it doesn't seem like much. "It's their job." True, but she really seemed to care. And that's all anyone could ask for. She encouraged me to see how the foundation wore on my face the rest of the day and even sent me home with a small sample. And if it doesn't work out - if the foundation oxidized too much or broke me out - to come back in so we can find something that does. So shout out to Bella and the team at Sephora Kapolei. Makani Kai I go to Pearlridge because of the convenience...but, except for one lady, I always have to go look for help. Ala Moana is o.k., but, they are not reliable help. I have had to return things that don't match my skin tone, etc. sometimes, I don't think, they know what they are talking about...far from expert. Makani Kai has what I call friendly people..very nice ladies who try to help..and many are experienced. I love the store and the concept. It's a one-stop-shop where most brands can be found. You can shop around and the sales people are selling just one brand. However this store has awful customer service. I went there with a friend who doesn't look very feminine. She asked a salesperson about a lip gloss. The salesperson stopped to stare at her and then treated her as if she had a disease and then proceeded to tell her that she needed to moisturize her lips for the lip gloss to work better. This Sephora is honestly my favorite one to go to. Been to Ala Moana, Pearl Ridge and Waikiki and this location is the only one with workers who actually seem like they want to help you. Greeted when first walking in and seems more tentative when answering a question. Idk if it's because this location is less busy, but workers here seem to be less of a snob. My name is Jas and I've been a loyal Sephora customer in Hawaii for years. I've shopped at almost all of the Oahu locations and found that not all stores have employees that carry the professionalism and "Aloha" spirit that I have become accustomed to. After a horrible encounter at the Ala Moana location some years ago, I went to the Pearl Ridge location in the hopes of a better experience. It was there that I found the most helpful, personable, passionate and knowledgeable person to help me... her name is Arleen Tamashiro. She is the first one to give praise and recognition to awesome her team and I feel as though a great team is a direct reflection of their leader. I have followed Arleen from the Pearl Ridge location to the Ka Makana Alii (Kapolei) location where she currently is employed. Today I visited the Kamakana Alii store with skincare questions because my skin type is evolving. I left feeling hopeful, excited and educated because Arleen provided me with Sunday Riley samples and instructions. She went above and beyond to ensure that she suggested products that would address my concerns and gave me samples to establish trust in the effectiveness of the products and her expertise. Although the Pearl Ridge location is closer to my home, I travel to the Ka Makana Alii location because that is where Arleen is. She has been and always will be one of my favorite people who work for your company. She is invaluable and truly passionate about the Sephora culture, brand, people (both customers and employees) and the products your company carries in stores and online. Went in yesterday for my foundation and concealer. This was my first time at this location. It was a Sunday Afternoon and maybe they aren't usually busy but they were very short staffed. I had to ask the cashier for help because there wasn't anyone on the floor. The manager came out and was very friendly and helpful. She was apologetic, so it wasn't a big deal. She gave me great options when I asked questions and didn't make me feel rushed, despite them being busy and no other associates on the floor to help. They didn't have my foundation in stock but they have a great program where they can order it online for you and it will get shipped to your home for no extra shipping cost. She said it'd take about 3-5 days! Awesome! That's great service if you ask me, for the company as a whole. read more

The staff here is always really helpful and friendly, I've never gone shopping here without asking to find a certain product and they're always super knowledgeable and happy to help. On May 9, 2017, my daughter and I visited Sephora at about seven o'clock in the evening. Upon entering, a couple of associates had inquired about my need for assistance, to which I replied, "No, thank you." I browsed the store after selecting the one item I needed, which was Urban Decay's eye primer. Because I wanted to look around a bit more, my daughter and I moseyed throughout the store looking at random makeup. My daughter, who is eight years old, was pushing around a stroller that belongs to my eight-month-old daughter, whom I was required to carry because she cries whenever I place her in the stroller. Needless to say, I brought the stroller out of pure convenience should the need arise for a place to keep my infant while I sign receipts or as a carrier for my bags as we wander around the mall. Unfortunately, this helpful tool, on which I rely, became the means to suspect me of thievery. Unwarranted as it may have been, a mall security guard was asked to patrol the store. Prior to my arrival, no guard was present. While spending quite some time in the back of the store debating which eye shadow palette I wanted, the security guard found his way nearly four times to the same area in which I was browsing. Furthermore, in this time, about three associates asked if I needed assistance, one of whom sarcastically complimented my makeup, which was far from pleasing; in fact, I had been wearing the same makeup since five that morning; my face was oily, and I had runny mascara from sweating all day. Again, however, I refused their offers of aid. By this time, it was quite apparent that I was being watched under the suspicion of stealing. Not to mention, I received constant looks from associates and customers alike. To say the least, it was rather embarrassing and angering. Despite that humiliating fact, we continued to mull over the eye shadows. After about ten minutes of shopping in the same area, I had questions. But by this time, it was apparent I was annoyed, so not a single associate came to my aid. Instead, I received yet more degrading looks and no help. Finally, I had had enough. I leaned against the pillar in the back of the store and waited... and waited. Where were all the "helpful" associates? You know who came to the back of the store? You guessed it! The security guard! Having had enough of his presence, I confronted the gentleman. I politely informed him that he need not follow me around because I am not a thief. My daughter, who was also under the suspicion of shoplifting because she was pushing her sister's stroller, felt extremely uncomfortable and ashamed when she realized what was going on. This, above all else, upset me the most. I walked to the front of the store where a female staff member had been standing. She had the look of guilt, a nervous seeming smile, and asked if I was finding everything okay. Immediately, I asked to speak with a manager. She replied, "We have a manager, but I don't think she's working tonight." Okay, wait, what? No manager on duty? Now you're undermining my intelligence and being downright disrespectful and arrogant. My look of skepticism must've implored her to inquire about another superior who might have been working in the store that night. Lo and behold, she found a manager! When the manager was finished assisting her cashier with the line of 3 customers, she walked over to me a little apprehensive but nonetheless cheerful and accommodating. She introduced herself and listened to my concerns and feelings of disapproval for the way her store handled my patronage. I informed her that I worked at Best Buy in Aiea for 5 years, which I know she probably didn't appreciate hearing, and that I was also aware of how possible shoplifters are targeted and observed. My first fault was that I looked a bit disheveled - as did my daughter, who had gone directly from school to her jiu-jitsu practice prior to our visit to Sephora. The second fault was my need to bring a stroller into the store. That made me an automatic person of interest - to put it nicely. Aside from this, neither me nor my daughter had shown any suspicious activity while patronizing their store, yet we were pursued merely because of our appearance and the fact I am a mother with a stroller. Of course, Allie, the manager with whom I was speaking, handled my concerns with the utmost professionalism and care. She is the reason I have given this review two stars instead of one. As aforementioned, my excitement for the opening of this store was great; its location is significantly closer to Waianae than any other. In the end, I spent $140.31 and purchased two eye shadow palettes and a primer. Regrettably, I did this for reasons resulting from my experience. Essentially, it was my fear of looking like a thief that stopped me from walking out of the store empty-handed. Today was my first time visiting the Sephora at Ka Makana Alii and unfortunately it was not the amazing experience I usually have when shopping at Sephora. As a birthday present, my sister was taking me shopping to pick up more make-up, so it's unfortunate that the following was my experience. I have extensive work experience in retail customer service, specifically in the cosmetic industry and it's such a bummer when you have a negative experience with a fellow make-up artist. I was looking for a specific product, which I usually purchase at the Ala Moana location, when I couldn't find it I asked Joseph at the front to help me. When we walked over to the display he said it didn't look like they carried it, so he turns and asks his team member John John if he knew if they carried it, to which John John replied annoyingly and curtly, "Online Only". So, I decided to let that go, and turned to Joseph and said, "Really? But I just bought it at the Ala Moana location." Because I thought John John's comment meant I could only buy it online. Immediately after I finished my sentence, John John interjects, visibly irritated, serving me a whole bunch of attitude, saying that they don't know what Ala Moana carries and they probably carry more because they only have a 3-display and Ala Moana has a 6-display. So, I looked at him and simply said, Thank You. I turned back to Joseph who helped me pick out a color in the selection they had available. I went to check out and let the cashier, who happened to be one of the managers of the store, know of my experience. She was incredibly sweet and helpful and assured me she would talk to John John. I hope if she talks to him, no one else has this experience when shopping there. As for me, I'll continue to do my Sephora shopping at Ala Moana or Pearl Ridge, which is unfortunate since I'm from and live in the Ewa/Kapolei area. But I'd rather make the drive to town than get any more of that attitude their employees think it's ok to serve. read more

There's a reason why I marked down this review only to 4 stars which otherwise would have been a 5. Tonight I came into Sephora looking for a foundation that would cover my tattoo nicely and blend in and I got Donna. Guys, this review should be getting a 5 for just this girl but because of an outside matter, I took that 1 star. Anyways, back to Donna. Donna was so accommodating and she NEVER NEVER NEVER made me feel like I was a hinderance. No matter how much times I apologized to her about this because of how much she did for me, she never had let anything show that she was annoyed about the process. I have to tell you, the process from getting my skin color tested to making sure that it blended into my skin to grabbing varieties of shades to make sure it was perfect was very long but she never made it seem like this was a waste of time. She was literally running across the store grabbing products. She seriously went the extra mile to help me and make sure everything was great. I learned so much from her too because I seriously know nothing about make up. I've always wanted to come into Sephora with these questions and just never did because I was scared but Donna answered those while helping with my tattoo cover up. She went above and beyond for me and I wish I could give this a 5 star for just her. The thing that really bothered me tonight that made me take that star away was another Sephora worker. I didn't catch her name but she was a older woman. She seemed to have an aura that she was a manager. She was rude. From the moment I made eye contact with her. No smile. No nothing. She would come and go with a stern face. It felt like I was a hinderance to her and it made me feel uncomfortable. She would always eye me out if I was alone and Donna would leave to get product. When Donna was helping me she would constantly ask Donna what she was doing with me to help me. When Donna was basically finished and we finally found the products that work the best for the cover up, she walked towards us in a very aggressive manner, peered behind Donna and looked at what she was doing and seeing if we were done yet. I mean, sorry it took so long. What ticked me off even more was that she apparently asked Donna over headset after she walked away again aggressively after peering over if we were done. Donna replied that she was done. Not only did I not like that about that older woman, she tends to be nicer to certain people over the other. I guess she stereotypes people to see if they will steal or not and is much nicer to the people who she thinks won't steal. She was pretty stern with some people that had walked in that door (guessing thinking they're going to steal. I guess I was apart of that group). I brought the products that Donna worked so hard to help me with and I seriously left so happy at what she helped me with but I also left pretty sad/angry at this older woman. I want to come back but I guess I'll steer clear of this location if I see this woman working. read more

So happy there's a Sephora literally down the street from me instead of driving to Pearlridge! It could be dangerous though because I went in for 1 item and came out with more than what was on my shopping list. Immediately after walking in, something about the store felt different than the Pearlridge one. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's not a bad thing. Maybe it was the layout or it just had a more updated look? Anyway, customer service was great. Sales associates asked me if I need assistance which I was grateful for, but didn't need. Made it through the dreaded travel sized items at the register without being tempted to put more items in my bag. (Ladies, you know what I'm talking about!) I received a free tote with my purchase. This is my favorite location because of the service. You can really feel the great customer service here! I left feeling very happy because of the kind staff, so thank you for that. I don't think I have ever said that about any store before. I've been to all the other Sephora locations, and I can say that Alamoana, and Waikiki are the worst. Pearlridge is okay though. Anyway, thank you to the sales associate (forgot her name) who gave me a great color match, and to the greeter who made sure I got what I wanted. I think I will be coming here now even though Pearlridge is close to me. read more

5 stars all the way!!! Katie, the manager, is so awesome. I went into Sephora just browsing, like I know a lot of us females love to do! I had recently purchased the Tarte eye shadow kit. To be honest, I don't usually wear eye shadow. I originally wanted a make up brush for my kit. When Katie was helping me I felt comfortable around her and also asked her for a tutorial for applying this new eye shadow kit. She was very thorough and helped me see the many ways I could apply this. I left the store feeling very grateful for the outstanding customer service!! This Sephora is conveniently located and they have enough staff to tend to all their customers! I will return!! read more

This is a Sephora and therefore a magical realm in which I am apparently filthy rich (congrats on the mirage) and justify somehow that spending $30 on lip balm is completely reasonable. This new location has a decent amount of new and interesting products that aren't available at the other Oahu Sephoras. HOWEVER, just. Let. Me. Browse. In. Peace. Sephora is generally somewhat annoying due to the constant barrage of "are you doing ok??"s and the "can I help you find anything specific in a store that is clearly meant to distract and lead to squirrel browsing?"s, but this one is RIDICULOUS AF. I barely had time to look lost/confused in between service ambushes. THEN, after being attacked with help every 4 seconds, I couldn't find anyone to assist me at the register. (I know, it was funny, I was definitely LOLing). Not the end of the world but certainly off-putting. read more

I love Sephora much better than Alta Beauty! Helpful staff, easy to find what I need, and great rewards program. I've always used their services for my daughter's proms and special events. Just went this past Saturday and Jon Jon was awesome!!! read more

I hope corporate looks at these yelp reviews. .... 1)There customer service is worst at this location. (2 . I have been there twice and no one is ever around when you need help i had to go and look for someone...(3 There must be 5-6 sales people there on the floor. But as soon as you open a draw to look to see if they have more in stock( because you cant find anyone to help you) they all come running ...And this is what the sales girl tells me..... Oh no dont do that !!! Me : Well everyone is just walking around and takling with one another but not asking if you need help...So i guess i need to do it myself.... But as soon as you open a draw everyone comes running... I guess i got someones attention now....Lol This place is a joke!!! I dont think I'll be returning to this Sephore store again. At Ala Moana and Pearl Ridge stores there's always someone there when you need the help.You don't have to go looking for them.
