I went to the Kapolei Ulta location yesterday because this is the closest location to my home, while I was in line I saw Ka'ena the manager being very rude to customers. This same thing happened to me, I reported it to his manager and hoped that someone would speak to him about the way he treats customers. After seeing him treat the lady in front of me like that, I put my items down and left the store, I don't want to deal with him again. read more

First ever salon experience at an ulta. But I've done intense research regarding the stylist. Jhennie stood out! I showed her my past style and was hoping to go back to how it used to be. She made it work. Very transparent about the possibility of how light my hair can get without damaging it. I wish I had a before picture but just imagine it was black and dull with no life whatsoever and she transformed it to this. If I could give 0 stars I would! I had an appointment for 430 for a haircut, when I got in they said it would be another 30 minutes then Nicole the stylist wanted me to wait another hour. I understand being behind but you should have more organizational and time management skills. She was really rude about me being frustrated that I had driven there, cleared out my own schedule and then had me wait only to not get any service done. I would never recommend anyone who get defensive about their own wrong doing. Should have remedied the situation. Horrible customer service read more

3 days before prom, a little less than 72 hours to be specific, I received a call from Fanny who stated that an appointment with Tysen which had been made and confirmed was now cancelled. The appointment was for hair and makeup. This is done during prom season and where finding a replacement is next to impossible. No explanation was given for the cancellation other than that Tysen is unavailable. Fanny was unsympathetic and the only solution she could provide was makeup only at 3:15. Prom starts at 5 in Waikiki. The lack of conscience is disgusting and I will never patron this place again. read more

I think Ulta ultimately had great customer service and I like the variety of products. This particular Ulta had a smaller variety of products than others in the island. Reason for the 3 stars is the constant "do u need help" are u ok every two minutes. I appreciate once or twice but every two minutes made me uncomfortable. I redeemed my birthday gift bought what I needed and went to a different ulta. Not every customer likes to be constantly bothered while they are browsing. I don't purchase items without reading ingredients and labels. I'm slow and thorough when it comes to purchasing new things. Hence the low rating. Note: there's a birthday gift u can claim make sure to check ur inbox if u are an ulta member Advice to ulta: please provide a list of services that u offer so we know what they are (for the beauty area) wish h had that I love a good pampering and don't always want to ask. Also it's dumb that I have a coupon I can only redeem online. Very annoying waste of my time to pull out a 20% coupon to realize it's only an online offer. I've had my hair done here twice by Jhennie, and unfortunately, both times missed the mark (a full highlight and a follow-up gloss). Despite my experience, I decided to give the salon another chance and booked an appointment for my daughter with Jhennie, as she was the only one available. My daughter has her Christmas formal tomorrow, so this was an important appointment. My daughter has brown hair and wanted a balayage. We even brought a reference photo, and Jhennie assured us she could achieve the look. However, after five hours in the chair, we left the salon extremely disappointed. Her hair looks exactly the same as when we walked in--brown. There's no blonde, no balayage--nothing close to what we asked for. Jhennie did the foils but applied them incorrectly, going heavy on top and very light on the bottom--the exact opposite of what we requested. On top of that, she used a toner that was far too dark. I expressed concerns during the process, but she kept giving vague reassurances like, "Her hair is wet," "I'm trying to balance the highlights with her natural color," and "Wait until I style it." Unfortunately, even after drying, the results were unacceptable. My daughter has had highlights before, and they've never turned out like this. To Jhennie's credit, she did offer to fix it in a couple of days, so I'll update after the next appointment. read more

When I arrived at the salon and approached the register, I stood there for several minutes without being greeted. Although there were four stylists present in their sections, none of them acknowledged me or offered a welcome. Eventually, a receptionist arrived about five minutes later and checked me in quickly. The stylist who took care of me was accommodating, and while I'm not much of a conversationalist, a little friendly interaction would have made the experience feel more comfortable. The haircut and style were simple, but unfortunately, my hair ended up looking frizzier than when I arrived. At checkout, I was caught off guard when the receptionist directly asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I feel that tipping should be optional and not prompted in such a direct manner--it came across as pushy. Overall, the service didn't meet my expectations, and I won't be returning. read more

3-14-22 We decided to drive to the Kapolei Target and so glad we did. As we were driving in to this complex I spotted Ulta and I told hubs, I want to stop there after Target. Just like the other Ulta above Sam's Club, the first employee I approached was super helpful and friendly. I asked where is your Lime Crime? She asked hair color? I nodded yes. She actually walked me over to the area and showed me with her hand gesture, this section of products on a shelf. She asked, Is this what you use? Yes, acknowledging my unconventional unicorn hair. This is the first time hubs followed me into a beauty store without staying in an AC car checking email. I asked him, what color should I get? Outlandish fun colors he didn't utter a comment. Hmmm, I picked two colors I've not tried before. One was called Sushi- awesome! Since the pandemic I totally bleached my hair to a blank slate and have been experimenting on colors and technique I've yet to perfect. It's been a playful tint and/or full coverage exploration at best. After seeing how our photo came out at Waikiki Leia the other night using Shook on my mop, I decided to add more ZING. Keeps the excitement alive cuz til I rinse the Lime Crime out, the outcome is ALWAYS a surprise. If you like funky colors, Ulta has so many colors to choose from. It doesn't have any smell and is vegan. I've noticed my hair condition seems to have even improved since using this product from thick and coarse to shinier and more sleek( most days.) I did manage to find some items and found out they have a reward plan which was easy to sign up and you earn one point for each dollar you spend will start you to enjoy various perk depending on how much you spend in one calendar and get a birthday gift plus double points in your birthday month. They do have an app as well to help you keep track of your points. Omg signing up for email does give you email only offers and your coupon for your birthday gift and also on their website they do have coupon I found out $3.50 off $15 and you bet I spent over $15 :-/ gosh that was a bummer! What an amazing team at Ulta!!! I was visiting my sister in San Diego and decided I want to get my hair done specifically highlights so it blends with my grays better. Her hairdresser couldn't get me in because it was short notice, so my sister made me an appointment at Sola Salon. The hairdresser at Sola Salon her name is Emily insisted that I go some place else because she is not able to do anything with my hair. I've never been turned away like that before, I got that racist vibes. Anyways, I decided that I would just wait till I get back to Hawaii and do my highlights there, but my sister insisted we go somewhere else because she knew I really wanted to get my hair done for my birthday. Since Ulta was in the same area we stopped by just to see if they could take me in that day. The receptionist nice lady was very helpful and friendly and was able to schedule me and I asked her if the stylist could just give me a quick consultation just in case she is not able to highlight my hair like the other lady from Sola Salon, I just didn't want to waste anyone's time. So the stylist took a quick assessment of my hair and she said we can definitely get some highlights in your hair to blend with the grays better come back at 445 pm, it was only about 10am, so we went back home in Escondido and then drove back and got to Ulta around 430pm. I had a little bit of time so I was browsing in the store since they have a bunch of my favorite products. Sam their Manager figured I was waiting for my appointment and asked me if I had a hair appointment and I said yes at 445. She said I'm so sorry I need to reschedule because there's news of a fire about 1 mile away from their location, so they are canceling appointments at that point. I understood and she wanted to reschedule. I said I couldn't because I was heading back to Hawaii the next day. I mentioned to her that I wanted to get my hair done for my birthday this weekend and I'll just find someone back home. I get in my sisters car and I get a call back from Sam and she mentioned she felt bad and she was able to reach out to Phylis the GM at the Kapolei location and explained to Phylis about what happened. I then got a call from Phylis saying that she was making an appointment for me for highlights and haircut with Nicole their stylist and it would be comp. I was so happy that they went out of their way to gift me this treat. Nicole At Kapolei amazing stylist, with just a few words about what I wanted to get done and she knew exactly what she needed to do. I'm so happy that I got blessed with these ladies. Thank you Sam and Phylis for scheduling me with Nicole, I've been searching for a hairstylist for about 5 years since I moved to Oahu. New year...new goals. This year: work on skincare and stick to it! Although I have two "girls," (really young women) they don't have the patience to answer all my questions and concerns. For example, "tell me what order, how much and when do I use _____ to get this result?" Yea. It's a bit much for them especially since their hands are full with toddlers who toddle and infants who can't do anything. Long story. Come here! Look for MERCEDES! She was patient and looked through my OCD list and helped me narrow things down to a manageable regimen. I wasn't intimidated and I loved that she showed me options. Super friendly and VERY patient!! Skincare can be super complicated or super simple. I dislike the multi step process but if that's the cost of getting glass like skin...oh well. There are soooo many options and products out there!! I don't believe one size fits all and your skin (like mine) won't respond identically to yours to various products. Best hack is to ask for a sample of a product - try it and if no adverse reaction occurs - go back and purchase a full sized product.
