However, the only person in the skin care section blatantly ignored me as he helped someone else, and then once he was done merely asked, "you got it, right?". I purchase things often in-store and online, and it's so disappointing that this location is closest to my house. Sephora is one of my favorite stores, and I used to go to the Topanga location regularly when I lived in Woodland Hills. I miss it SO MUCH. The team at Northridge never seems to want to be bothered to help you, the store is a mess, and when you go to check out they are more interested in talking to each other than helping their customers. The customer service here is pretty terrible. I'm not that much of a make up person so I came in hoping someone would help me. I had to hunt someone down to help me. When I finally got someone (Faby) she was not helpful at all. I needed help finding foundation and she tried one on me and asked if that was it. Then I ask about primer and she just pointed me in the direction of where they were, without providing anymore guidance when I clearly asked for her advice. I looked at many creams and a nice young lady named, Judy really spent a lot of well spent time to explain products for my skin. She also applied eye masks that actually worked very well. I was treated with respect. Of course I was impressed with her knowledge about products that I could choose. She presented several items and I picked what I wanted. A good experience. Horrible service, every time I go into Sephora at Northridge I don't get the customer service I expect!!! I am a VIB ROUGE I probably spend more money then their employees on a weekly basis! It's about time Northridge got a Sephora! Sephora is the candy store of all things cosmetic, which can be a good or bad thing depending on you. For me, it's a great thing, as I always want to check out what's new and you can sample EVERYTHING!!! It's your standard Sephora and I have had a great experience with the staff here. I just recently found that you can return and exchange things that don't meet your expectations. I needed to return something and I was dreading it, thinking the staff might turn their nose up at me, but the opposite was true. Overall most Sephora's are the same - great selection, fun to scope out the testers. This one stands out, because I've been to 10+ Sephora stores, and this has been the only one where employees didn't harass the daylights out of me. I went on a Friday night and they may have been slightly understaffed (which was fine by me, since it meant I didn't get trailed around by everyone asking "Can I help you?" 500x) When I did search out a free employee to ask for help they were useful and knowledgeable, without being overbearing. Made an appt for my mom to get her make up done as she was going to an event. Sephora is always busy! The beauty studio is in the middle I don't think it's a good location in the store as plenty of customers would always ask questions. The gentleman name Jonathan prepped my mom's skin.. ask what her skin type was. Kathy had done her make up she did a great job. As I was waiting Jonathan offered a mini facial which I loved getting pampered. I haven't been here in so long until today! Workers here greet you SOMETIMES when you walk in, while some just look at you and walk away. Walking in this location, is like walking into a zombie apocalypse. The customer service is so bad, they look like "walking dead". It takes a while to get someone on the floor to help you out. When I asked a question, the sales girl gave me such a stare of annoyance, I think she was wishing for me to drop dead. My friend asked, "do you have any more of the Urban Decay Vice Palette". The sales girl didn't bother to look and responded with, "no one has them. They sell out the day they restock." She didn't bother to call other locations. When I approached the casher, I didn't even receive any greeting, "How are you?" or "Did you find everything ok?" just more annoyed looks. Sephora is typically my favorite place to buy my make-up, especially at Northridge because it's so close by. This is a review on their sales associates. The first time, about a week ago, I asked to have my face matched using that machine they have in the store. The lady said sure. She didn't use the machine though (like I had asked), she just walked me to the Tarte area and chose one. It looked good in the store but wearing it today, I feel as if the undertones are completely off. I went back yesterday, and in the first few minutes of my time there, the sales associates were gossiping about other customers. I even assume they were gossiping about my hair due to how uneven my current hair color is. To my right I could hear (loudly), "Yeah, that's why you use a pan". The sales associates at the JCPenny location were 100% times better. Honestly, these girls might as well get paid for how much crap they talk instead of standing around in a clump not helping the many people walking through the door. Some advice: Keep your mouth shut and your judgments to yourself and DO SOME WORK. I'm disappointed. read more

Does it bother anyone else when the person working there does not know the products? I mean you work in makeup, you should know the product way better than I do. I don't even spend alot of time on it, but if a product changes or is discontinued or if someone needs to know how it works, I would imagine that you should be the expert on it. Well, not at this location anyway, in my experience. Awhile ago the brand Makeup Forever had changed their primers packaging and possibly discontinued the '0' primer. So I asked the girl who works there which one is equivalent and she said that she didn't know. She didn't even know that '0" was gone, Anyway, so I just wanted the same thing if it was just a change in packaging because all the others that I had tried previously never worked nice on my skin. She couldn't help me and was kind of disinterested in helping me figure it out. So I asked her to give me samples of the ones they have so that I can figure out on my own (since she didn't know) which one is equivalent to the one I have been using the past few years. She tells me that she cant give me more than 2 samples. I was shocked!! There are something like 4 or 5 primers. I would much rather just buy the item, if you knew what it was, but you don't, so how exactly do you expect me to figure this out? Usually by trying them. She wanted me to come back for each new sample. You know what, this made me really mad. I did not come here for samples. I came here to shop and buy makeup, but you DO NOT know your product, so I cannot do that, I usually end up spending a lot of time and money there when I go, but she made me so annoyed that I just went ahead and said forget it and left, So as I was storming out of the mall, really upset that I didn't get my primer, and other makeup that I was looking forward tom I noticed that there is a Sephora inside JC pennys. Ok well lets try, I need this stuff. I go in, the sweetest, nicest, most knowledgeable about primers, Sephora employee, helps me find the one that I need. In like 2 seconds, she said oh, I knowm its this one!!! love her! and I end up spending a few hundred dollars on other stuff and thank her profusely. I love Sephora and clearly many share the sentiment, or else it wouldn't always be so full. For the most part I go knowing what I need, but every time I go into this store no one offers to help like the other Sephora locations. I went this Tuesday looking for a matte foundation and came across an employee who was stocking product. I asked her if she wasn't too busy (since all the other Sephora staff were busy and she was the only one stocking) if she could help me find my shade in foundation in a matte brand. With attitude she said she was busy but when she saw that everyone else was busy she continued to stock and just asked "what kind?" and I said matte and she said try NARS without looking at me and not really paying attention to what she was doing. I ended up having to figure out myself and ended up hating the shade so I definitely will try to avoid coming to this Sephora for their lack of customer service. read more

I wanted to give a shout-out to the Northridge store because the staff is so friendly, helpful and energetic. I live closer to the Valencia store, but I would rather drive out the 20+ miles to the Northridge mall store because they are just so much nicer here. Most of the staff at Valenica are snobbish and won't even ask to see if you need help, or the other extreme is that they walk around following you suspicously. I had received the Glam Glow (silver) anti aging mask as a gift but later saw it on line as Glam Glow Gift set, which included 3 products and application brush, (which I couldn't purchase separately) for same price ($69). I wanted to try all 3 so I can see if it worked for me. I checked inventory and called the Northridge store and was told probably by Friday. (It was Wednesday). Before I went, I checked online and it said it was available in the last 24 hrs. First of all, it was afternoon and the place busy. I had my baby in stroller and the check out aisle as well as the checkout area was a tight fit, that my stroller either was in the way or I keep bumping into the checkout machine/person next to me. That being said, I got to front and said I received as a gift but wanted to exchange for the gift set. She looked but said they didn't have it even though on line it said it was available, so I said can I get a store credit so I can purchase it on line. The sales associate wasnt familar with the return policy without receipt but her neighboring associate said I can return without receipt but I could only make a return once per year and I needed ID. No problem bc I don't do many returns anyway. I was told it would be a negative thing for me 2nd time since I didnt have receipt. Then they also asked if I knew if my friend was a VIB member, which I gave them her number & it came up and it was easier to return. The process was a bit slow, and the one who was helping had to open up the very tight package , even though I told I didn't open it and you can tell I didn't bc she had a hard time to open it without ripping the package open. I guess with a return they have to open it completely, but even to the point of removing the seal to check content? I felt I was being accused of something just bc of returning an item. How can they restock that item if it was open completely? ..didn't make sense to me. She saw me staring at her and she said sorry about that. Then I received my store credit and went home to order item on line but to my dismay, the on line doesn't accept in store credits...only debit/credit/gift cards. After all that, I still couldn't get the item I wanted! The associate should have told me that the in store credit doesn't work on line or at least tell me to just get a cash refund especially when I specifically told her since they don't have the item and not sure when they will recieve it that I will order it on line. Luckily, I was at the Sherman Oaks area, checked on line, said it was in the inventory and took a chance and went there. Hurray they did! That store on a Saturday afternoon, had a line to the door but all the associates greeted all customers with smile, kept apologizing for the wait, their aisles were much more spaces and most importantly had this product in ample supply/accurate inventory. Overall, not very happy with the experience on this day at Northridge, which normally is okay. Big difference in customer service between Northridge and Sherman. Oaks. read more
