Your return policy in the store is displayed in a small plague with small prints. I tried to returned two unopened/unused acne serum I bought for my kids one day after 30 days. I was hoping to get store credit. But the said they don't allow any store credit or return after 30 days. This has to be one of the nicest Sephoras in the city. I don't know if its related to management or location, or some combination these things, what I do know is that I have had more great experiences here with friendly, helpful staff than at any other branch. Only downside for me is having to find it in the maze of the mall. Hint: it is on FL 2. As of May 2025 they have the TerraCycle cosmetic boxes on site. read more

I sometimes come to Stonestown to relive my memories. I used to work Downtown and Laurel Heights, never had the chance to visit Sephora in the relatively close vicinities. I always come to this Sephora because it is near my house and Stonestown just got a little of everything so coming here was great. Although this store seems to be always busy but there are plenty of mall parking, the girls while young always nice and provided good services to me. I got easy check-out and they gave out samples and birthday gifts, of course given you do sign up for VIP and buy a lot to maintain your level. I consider a medium level shopper at Sephora. When I used to live near Embarcadero, I loved visiting Sephora at least once a week, always pleasant and happy experience, especially at the fragrance section. I was helped by a really nice sales rep. I forgot his name and wish I remembered it so I can give him props for doing a great job. He was super helpful recommending foundation brushes for me. He asked me what kind of foundation I used, then explained the different brushes Sephora offers from budget friendly to quality ones. He was never pushy and provided excellent service. I give him 5+ stars. Unfortunately, the cashier was not a great experience. I felt slightly pressured to open up a Sephora credit card which I did not want to because I have enough credit cards. After I told her no, she asked me if I was sure. I said yes, I have enough credit cards. I noticed a slight change in her attitude. It turned from friendly to I could care less because you didn't open up a Sephora credit card. Also, she did not give me a nice Sephora bag like the cashier next to her who I noticed provided a small bag for her customers. I wish I got the other cashier lady instead. Sigh. Beware!! I bought a couple gift cards here to find out some had no money. I called the Sephora gift card line which was no help, they just told me it has been use no other info , to file a complaint with my bank! I also talk to the general manager of this store she told me gift cards are non-refundable I need to call the gift card hotline. So basically no one wants to take accountability, and that's not okay! The only conclusion I can come up is that the cashier people at this store are not honest, and scamming the customers!!! Five minutes and $40 later... I went to the store and the entrance was blocked off. I peeked inside to see how full the store was... all I saw were sales associates. This was on a Saturday around noon. The associate in the front asked specifically what I was looking for... I wanted to purchase an eyeliner since the one I purchased for $1.50 at Daiso didn't work. It worked on paper but not on my skin LoL! Anyway, she got on her wireless headset mic thing to contact another associate and relayed what type of make up I was looking for even though the other gal was just a few yards away and they could see each other... we all could see each other. I was allowed to enter... Yay! The second sales associate took over and I was led to their most expensive set of their line of eyeliners. I can't remember the brand, I think it was Marc Jacobs. No, thanks, not for $26. I don't plan to look like a beauty queen. She led me to their Sephora collection and showed me a retractable one for $14 and I approved. Next I was looking for a lipstick. I showed her my current one so she can get an idea of the shade I was looking for. We go to their lipstick section and she showed me one I liked the color... $23 for a lipstick. Whoa... by this time I just wanted to get out of there so I took it and paid for them at the register, third associate I dealt with. Ugh! I wish I had time to browse around without a salesperson hovering around me. I use a lipstick and eyeliner to look like a person out there LoL! and I know these will last me awhile since I don't get dolled up everyday. She said she opened a ticket but refused to give me the case number or whatever it's called for this ticket and my bank literally said that the payment went through. They'll basically scam you here. Where to even begin addressing all the issues. The luxurious shopping experience in Sephora is probably a remnant of the past. Right now the store feels like an understocked dessert, dirty, with samples looking all gross. There are no tools or disposal bins for those tools to apply those samples in a sanitary manner. Now I just stare at the color of the partially disintegrated lipstick wondering if it will suit me, but also why should I bother paying 30$ for this product when no one is even there to help me choose the shade and maybe even tempt me with other products that I wouldn't decide to buy in my own. The associates are nowhere to be seen: not because they are avoidant, but because there's not enough of them. They are probably underpaid while being worked into the ground. Yesterday I only saw 2 people working there, being torn between the register and the aisles. They were incredibly nice and were trying their best to help as many people as humanly possible, but it's practically equivalent to moving the furniture around while the house is on fire. Products feel old and the quality tanked in comparison with the prior years. With these metrics heading downwards, the price tags still go upwards. It baffles me how many corners the management is willing to cut. What was supposed to be a pleasurable shopping experience turned into 1+ hour of grueling chore, fueled by anxiety and irritation. I went to this Sephora yesterday (Jan. 5th) and I am a bit disappointed with my experience :(. They were out of stock for basically everything I wanted to get (e.g. hourglass concealer, haus concealer, amika texture spray mini, one/size powder) and it really took forever to flag down a sales associate to ask them to check the bottom drawers. I know it's frowned upon to check these drawers yourself but I mean if its been 10 minutes and I haven't been helped, what am I to do? Additionally, 3 sales associates just seemed to be conversing with one another rather than helping out customers. Had a wonderful experience at this location. Brandy and another young woman (sorry, I did not get her name!) were so helpful, kind and patient with me. They went above and beyond asking the necessary questions to know what my daily routine is and what I feel most comfortable with wearing and what I wanted to achieve. They listened and clearly explained which products were perfect for my skin type and did not press any unnecessary products. I left confident that I was buying the best products for me which consisted of over 5 products that I needed (foundation, concealer, etc). This Sephora is the closest to my house. I'm happy with the location as it's most convenient, staff are helpful, and they are usually supplied with what I'm looking for. They are smaller and limited compared to other Sephora's in the surrounding area. If you're looking for a specific item, I recommend calling in to check if the item is in stock or to reserve it. I've had my wave of good and bads here but I'm still happy this location exists. I think this and the Daly City location are the two in the area that has a parking lot where you can go in and out quickly. Yesterday I went to Sephora for the first time since post COVID and I felt safe. The store had a maximum capacity inside, there was a line for others, they explained social distancing protocols, testers (who would want to test right now anyways), and they sanitize your hands prior. I spoke with 2 staff - Holly & Angie and enjoyed speaking to them about products. I hope to see them again. read more

Just like most stores in Stonestown, this Sephora location is limited with inventory and is more of an express location. Do not expect to find what you may have saved on your wishlist from online, in hopes of getting it in store here. Your next bet, is the downtown Powell location as that is much bigger than the Stonestown location. I noticed that although trial makeup will NEVER be sanitary or clean.....the displays are quite dirty and should at least wipe the outer part of the products itself that are for trial. For example, lip stick stains around the lip stick area, fallout ALL over the eyeshadows...and literally starts to blend with the products that are actually up for grabs to buy.. Unfortunately it seems like people steal here so it's really frustrating coming across few empty boxes when picking up an item in hopes of buying, I feel like this is something for the staff to look over. For the most part, I give the cashier register staff credit for always being decently kind or displaying common courtesy when paying at the register. read more

If the staff are not helpful, unkind, or completely incompetent - you will leave feeling angry. I know this. You need someone to enable your beauty passion.
