I go here when I happen to be downtown (the Sephora on Union Street is much closer to where i live). You can expect the usual fare, huge selection. I always try before I buy and they're helpful with that. There aren't really any deals to be had here and there are only some things I like to buy that are "name brand" (concealer, eyeshadow being the major ones). Everyone is nice here but BEWARE this shop gets VERY crowded during the tourist and holiday season. Don't say you weren't warned. They keep the checkout line moving reasonable fast, but I'd look at the line (I mean, it seriously has switchbacks like Disneyland) before I started filling up my little basket. Their return policy is wonderful, and a major reason I come back here. It's a great place to get out of your "comfort zone" of makeup and try something totally new! I use pink eyeshadow now! Crazy! If they don't have what you need, you can order it online or just hop over to Union Street. I think there's actually a mini-nail station here now, where you can even get you nails did. Anyway, Sephora is fantastic, but make sure you're not buying for the name brand only. There are many wonderful drugstore brands with the same ingredients that do the same thing. read more

This is a review of my recent experiences at the "temporary" location at Westfield mall. Every time I come here, they are "out" of the EXACT product I need. I'm not talking right before closing hours after a weekend. In the middle of the day on Monday. I don't understand how this happens so frequently. I've visited this Sephora about 4 or 5 times this fall, and every single time I've gone, they had been out of what I needed. They don't have this problem at the union square Sephora in New York, where it's just as packed. What gives? Also I was standing in their unbelievably long line (another issue of theirs), and saw a customer paying with a card on a mobile register. I politely told the cashier I was also paying with a card, and she gave me some attitude, and told me I had to wait in the line until I got to the very front to pay on the mobile register. I thought the mobile registers were made to decrease the line?? I'm very disappointed in this Sephora, and hope the Powell street Sephora opens again soon. Five stars for Amy who helped me get perfume samples to try out for my future purchases. She was super amazing and and a ball of sunshine. Also thank you to Patrick who asked me if I was fine and needed any assistance. I ended up going with a Chloé perfume. Great customer service here and I'm also impressed with the layout and ambiance of the store. The only problem I had was getting my birthday gift. I also asked Lorraine if she could give me my birthday gift since my birthday is next Saturday on August 6th, and she told me to come back in August. I thought it was kind of rude because Sephora normally allows you to pick up your gift 2 weeks before or after your birthday. When I went to the Stonestown store, I had no problem and Elisa helped me out with a smile. read more

Of all the Sephora stores I've visited, this location is by far the best! I came in clueless and bare faced, wanting to find out my shade. The lovely Susan helped me out, found my shade. I usually don't wear a ton of make up, but I needed to find something to at least put color on my face. She gave suggestions to me, and even had another lady help out and teach me how to apply bronzer. I came out of the store satisfied, educated and happy. I have spent hundreds of dollars a year at Sephora. At the end of November I purchased an expensive CC cream. The sample color was not good for me and I attempted to return it several times in December and January but due to Covid restrictions the lines were ridiculous. Today, I went to Sephora to exchange it (unopened) for a more expensive alternative and was told it was past the return date and they refused to return it. I was shocked, so called the corporate office customer service and the agent was flippant and told me , yep that is their policy, it's on the website and they don't change it. I thanked her and said that my choice for cosmetics will certainly be Macy's or Nordstroms who have customer service oriented policies. She said that is certainly my choice. I gave Sephora another chance and they blew it! I was in the Sephora yesterday at The summit in Reno Nevada. I typically go to Ulta instead because it's always a pleasant experience. Yesterday, the product I was interested in looking at is not in Ulta so I was forced to go into Sephora. The people in Sephora are like a bunch of commies! The experience is severely uncomfortable. 10 years ago I made a commitment never to step foot into that store again I broke my commitment yesterday in order to check out a particular product. I did not purchase it because I couldn't wait to get out of there. I will just purchase it online now from the company itself. read more

I don't understand why stores keep a product, here it was a type of tweezers, out on display when it's not in stock. It's no fun for customers. When I asked a sales rep at this location about the tweezers, she said that they haven't had that particular type in stock for awhile. Then she became condescending and aggrieved when I suggested removing it from the display. As she explained it, the work involved in stocking the store was continuous and didn't allow time to fuss with coordinating what's on display with what they actually offer for sale. read more

Recently I came to this sephora, pretty set on purchasing several specific products. Usually I would spend about 300 dollars in one visit. As I was browsing and just about to ask for assistance, the beauty advisors definitely eyed me - and avoided me. They greeted every customer in my proximity - except me. I was confused why they treated me so oddly. Figured perhaps I look a tad bit more disheveled than usual. I do understand the retail business as I have worked in retail for years. Little do they know, they are losing on business by profiling a customer in such a manner. The associates here need better training. Bummed out, I walked out empty handed. At this location, I just had probably the worst shopping experience of my life. When my friend and I visited this store, we were greeted by very friendly staff that seemed happy to help us. Together, my friend and I talked to multiple girls in uniform that were very nice to us and seemed to know what they were doing. During our about 1 hour visit, there was one male employee who came up to me more than three times to "check up" on me, asking if I were ready to go to the counter or if I needed any help at the moment; both times I politely declined and moved on. I didn't think much of it and assumed that he was just being friendly to me like his coworkers had been. However, as I was shopping in various aisles, I noticed that he seemed to be following me throughout the store. I'm not just being paranoid - he definitely was observing what I was doing, and when I caught his eye he quickly busied himself with organizing shelves and whatnot. (This is all when I am separated from my friend btw). Even then, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt because I have never been followed in a store before, given that I don't think that my appearance really screams "thief" since I am a younger Asian girl (as if appearances should even factor into that.) In the checkout line, I realized that I wouldn't have enough money to buy everything in my basket, so I took out a thing of mascara and placed it deliberately in one of the sample shelves. Nothing too scandalous, right? When my friend was called to the counter to buy her things and I was left alone at the front of the line, the same Guy came up to me once again and awkward/seriously asked me how I was doing. Before I could even respond he was walking past and away from me, glancing in my bag as he did so. Less than a minute after I got called to the counter, the Guy approached me and told me to come with him. First, he asked me if I knew where I put the mascara that I had before *hm, I wonder how he knew I had the mascara in the first place? Was he by any chance watching me when I put it in my shopping bag?* At first, I was a little confused and embarrassed - was I getting in trouble for not putting it back where it belonged? The Guy proceeded to tell me that they have been "watching me on their cameras" and that he saw me putting the mascara up my sleeve, which I definitely didn't do. I offered to take my jacket off and let him search it, so he can know that I'm telling the truth. He told me that he saw me enter the line with the mascara in my bag (proving that he was indeed watching me shop) and leave the line without it. I suggested that perhaps the mascara fell behind the shelving or that another employee may have taken it out when organizing, but he proceeded to talk to me like a child and explain how the "shelving there is special and doesn't work like that." He told me to go back to the counter and pay for my things, and as I did, he met with some of his coworkers and began to whisper and glance at me. By this point, I was pretty shaken and a little teary eyed just because of the way the situation was handled and how I was talked to. I understand that Sephora probably gets a lot of shoplifters, but I also know that there is a much better way to handle that than to follow customers around for no apparent reason and then talk to them as though they are stupid liars. Basically, the Guy ended up finding out that one of his coworkers picked the mascara up while organizing the shelves. He let me go with a curt, "you are free to go." - no apology offered whatsoever. I was too overwhelmed to remember to check what this guy's name was. The other guy who helped me out behind the counter saw that I was crying and offered me a free moisturizing face mask though. Today my mom and I attended a free Contour and Highlight class taught by Natalie and Katrina. They were so nice and funny. They both taught us a lot. Instructions were very clear and they were open to any and all questions. They provided all the supplies as well. I can't wait to go to another class. There was also no pressure to buy any products which I appreciated. Even if you think you know a thing or two about makeup, you can learn something from this class. I love the employees / make up artists here! In the past, they were the store with employees offering too MUCH help (like Bath & Body), but they're great now. Very helpful even when it's a busy day. Friendly, funny, fabulous... the downside is how long the line can get at times, but most downtown store locations are like that any way. I wouldn't test out makeup here directly onto your face, though.. especially the lipgloss. A lot of folks just don't bother to use disposable applicators (which are available all over the store in front of mirrors). Gross. read more

PAOLO, PAOLO, PAOLO. Repeat this name when you go in. Paolo was amazing!!! He was making his rounds asking people if they need help, and I mentioned that I was looking for a good blush and bronzer. He took me to a section, and started asking questions about what I would be using the bronzer for and why I wanted bronzer. From that, he figured that my makeup wasn't doing it's job, and that all the stuff in my basket for cleansing my skin wouldn't do diddly-squat for my skin issues if my makeup was absolute garbage. He whisked me to the skin care corner where he then cleansed my skin, applied an exfoliant mask and applied some of the prettiest purple eyeshadow on my peepers! He then applied some of the lightest, pleasant foundation EVER and found the perfect blush for my complexion. People walking by commented about how great my makeup looked all night! Unfortunately, the dog licked my face when I got home, so I couldn't take any good pictures, but WOW! I walked away spending some money, but instead of a splurge, it's an INVESTMENT. He guided me on what products to use that will fix my issues in the long run, and the makeup I got is all natural and paraben free and STILL looks great! SSOOO Happy with the service and the time he took to make me look and feel amazing! So again, the magic word is: PAOLO!!! read more

I have always loved the selection that is offered for make up and skin goods as Sephora. Also, the customer service there is amazing and they are really knowledgeable about the product. I went there recently to look up fragrances for my best friend and my fiancé. I was assisted by Scott, who was really knowledgeable about the different options that were available. He really listened and recognized what I was looking for as far as gifts. He was very personable and really helped me to find cologne that I was seeking. Thanks Scott for your hard work! I love Sephora and their products, I've been their customer since I was 17 years old. But last Saturday, Daisy, a sales representative, saved my life on the day when I met my boyfriend's family for the first time. It was January 3rd when I was rushing out the door from my house in Oakland to catch bart to meet my boyfriend's Spanish family for lunch in San Francisco-Union Square. Of course, every girl wants to be impecable on this day, right? Well I only had a couple hours to make a good impression on my bf's family, but lord did this journey start wrong but Daisy at Sephora saved the day. It wasn't until I was sitting in Bart when I became aware of the fact that I had forgotten my eye make-up bag, I freaked. Immediately, I came up with a plan of action and informed my bf that I would be delayed by 10 minutes. Once I arrived at Powell Station, I ran up the escalators to Sephora. I came in the store and was greeted by a Sephora employee, I immediately told her about my fiasco, and that I had less than 15 minutes to be ready, she quickly got someone to help me. That someone was Daisy. Daisy listened to me and helped me calm down. She applied eyeliner, mascara, blush, powder and a soft lipstick. When my boyfriend saw he said i looked beautiful! Not only did I look stunning but I was on time and it was all thanks to Daisy at Sephora! I will definitely shop back at this Sephora whenever I am in the area. read more

Was there two weeks ago and was looking to purchase an eye palette. The young lady w a blonde ponytail immediately began to school me in a condescending way. Mind you I think I do a very good job w makeup application. At 53x I have the basics down pretty darn good. She didn't have not an ounce on so I could not tell you if she had skills. I almost asked her why she was so condescending and thought save your breath. Anyway. I buy my shadow. Take it home and realize it's not at all what I wanted. On Saturday I returned it. While at the register, I asked about another product. They referred me to LINDA. Wow. What a difference. She explained so much to me. She knew her craft and had so much knowledge of the products I was looking for. SEPHORA , you need more Linda's like the one on Saturday in King of Prussia. (Green eyes). Visited this location for an eyebrow class. It was very informative and went over brow color, shape, thickness, Etc. A great reminder and refresher to make sure that your brows look great and you know the latest tips and tricks. The instructors, Chris and Natalie, were awesome. They engaged with everybody there and provided one-on-one guidance. Highly recommend this class to others. They also shared classes starting for those in the LGBT community....very thoughtful that Sephora is reaching out to all in our world and community regardless of gender and/or how individuals identify in today's society. read more

Stephie loves Sephora brushes! She feels like her life began with her first powder brush. She looks back at her life before Sephora brushes and feels a sense of loss about something that should have been but wasn't. She goes through eyeliner and lipgloss like a fat girl goes through a bag of soft batch cookies, so she buys those things at Walgreens. For the stuff that really matter, stick with Sephora. I stopped in the Sephora on my most recent visit to San Francisco. I have been meaning to use my voucher for a full sized perfume, however, I hadn't decided yet on which one I liked best. Luckily for me, Fadi was around that morning to assist. Fadi spent 45 minutes helping decipher what perfume notes were most enjoyable to me so that I could hone in on a couple of particular brands and scents to try over the next several days. He spent time listening to my past experiences, asking me about my scent preferences, educating me on how perfumes are made to smell, and then took me on an olfactory journey to find just the right scent. Fadi was one of the most attentive, friendly, and engaging salespeople I have ever met. I wanted to stop back in a few days later to make a purchase, but the deluge of rain that week prevented me from coming back. If I did, however, I would want to make sure it was when Fadi was working. He is a true gem and this particular Sephora is so lucky to have him! If you're ever in the area, definitely stop by to see if Fadi is in. He will provide you with tons of information about a variety of different products and be completely engaging while he does it. I went in with my friends yesterday and as soon as we entered the security guard followed us around. I'm used to this at sephora, but not as soon as I walk in. It was rude because other people came in after we did and he just followed us not the other ladies. We left that Sephora and took our business elsewhere (we bought what we wanted at another Sephora location that day). He watched us like a hawk and I made eye contact with him several times because I was extremely uncomfortable. When we walked out my friends and I made sure we weren't going to go there. I love Sephora! Especially the Powell location. It's steps away from my job. It's a perfect lunch time spot to get my mind off of work. The only negative aspect is that it's always crowded. However, the attentive salespeople make up for it. The floor manager is exceptionally helpful. I always go in for one thing and leave with many more items. This review is for the temporary Sephora that is located inside the mall. So I was and am still hesitant to say this because I LOVE SEPHORA and live and die by it...but unfortunately my recent experience yesterday (June 10, Wednesday) wasn't all that great so I figured I would vent out somehow. I had come in with my girlfriend in sometime in the afternoon to buy a gift card and a couple product that my girlfriend wanted. So as she browsed around I made my purchase in line (it didn't honestly seem busy or full like other times I've been there, but hey, just my observation and opinion I may be wrong) When I finished my purchase my friend and went to look around and I was showing her the makeup around becuase I know what she likes (She's into Bare Minerals than any other) but given the fact that I love makeup and art in general I wanted to share my outstanding experience here at Sephora with her. I wanted to expand her horizon (try other products) and have her be addicted just like me (current VIB ROUGE) but sadly as we browsed nobody asked us for help or assistance (thats ok) what bothered me was when we both sat down in the Skin IQ area to wait to be assisted to find my friend her right skin tone and shade with that machine they use (After they determine what skin tone you are for example: 1R08 the computer finds every product matching that coded number, its SO COOL!). We were patient and waited a while because I saw one of the associate helping a client ( I get it no wrong there) but after 15 min tho (we were talking to keep time at bay) it felt like we were invisible and we didn't exist. I'm guessing I should of been assertive or proactive and ask someone for help; but after 15 minutes of sitting I would have guessed that we weren't "just talking" but actually waiting to be assisted to us the machine. Also, I didn't want to come across as self centered or obnoxious (I'm not that kind of costumer who will sarcastically or condescendingly speak to any associate in any way) So after creating multiple excuse to my girlfriend: " 1)Oh they must be really busy" 2) It seems like there is just one person working in this area and she's helping someone else" "possible understaffed, etc." 3) Keeping conversation relevant to what my friend is looking for so that when we do get help I can directly communicate her needs to an associate. I did everything I could to keep her distracted but it was clear that no-none was going to help us so, we left the store. I was embarrassed because I had told her great things about Sephora and given her the impression and illusion of how marvelous it was...but there was no action or proof to back up my claims and statement that day (Yesterday). I will surely come back because I love Sephora and there products but my girlfriend, I'm not so sure if she'd want to come back. For all I know she probable thinks Sephora is just a bunch of stuck-up people and aren't there to help. I know that's not true and that's not the real Sephora; Yet again that experience left a bad impression so honestly I left disappointed and embarressed. I didn't get to purchase anything for my friend that day, only my gift card. :( In any review I'm aware there are different sides an perspectives to a situation. This is just our side of our experience, I just don't know how to justify this kind of scenario. I'm left thinking " was this my fault?" "What could I have done?" I'm 14 years old, and Sephora is a great store to come to with your friends!! They let you try on all the makeup in the store with the testers and applicators provided. They have a super wide selection of makeup brands... mostly the high end brands. The cheapest brand they carry is the Sephora brand, which was obviously made by Sephora. I'm not giving it 5 stars, because I haven't tried ulta yet and that might be better than Sephora. I really really recommend this store for skincare and makeup!! read more

Ask for DUPEOLA when you go into the Sephora on Powell Street. She's an encyclopedia of beauty and skincare knowledge. She applied her passion and expertise to help me and my daughter fill in the gaps in our skincare regimen. I've been trying the regimen for nearly 4 weeks now. I am thoroughly impressed. My skin is so much better now. It's no longer dry and lifeless. I have moisture and glow restored into my skin. Seriously . . .ask for DUPEOLA. She is wonderful.
