    Dry chicken.
    Tracey R.

I've never actually had bad Teriyaki. I should have known when it was delivered faster than a Big Mac. Clearly overcooked reheated chicken. Very dry and stringy. Salad...it's pretty simple to make an Asian side salad. The only way to mess it up is to not use iceberg lettuce. Service was friendly and bathroom as clean.

We ordered the kimchi pancake, short rib soup with potatoes and glass noodles, and fried beef brisket (spice level 2/4). The kimchi pancake was overly breaded and tasted like it had been fried in reused oil. The short rib soup was the safest dish of the night, but the beef was still chewy rather than tender, the glass noodles were minimal, and the broth was extremely salty with a noticeable MSG-like taste. The fried beef brisket was heavily sauced, overly salty, and far spicier than a mild level should be. The beef itself tasted far from fresh and was very tough to chew. The appetizers were among the most basic I've seen at any Korean restaurant in the Greater Seattle area. Even then, the kimchi lacked depth and tasted unfresh, with sourness that felt more like age than proper fermentation. What made the experience even stranger was when the server asked how everything was. We tried to respond politely, and the server simply said, "I'm with you." Korean food is not rare in this area, and the prices here are on the higher side. With that context, the quality is difficult to justify. To be fair, the space is decent for group gatherings, large space, and the staff were friendly. But food is the most basic standard for a restaurant, and unfortunately it fell far below expectations. I genuinely don't understand how this place has such high ratings.

Outside may look very basic but indoors has comfy seats and an open feel. Recommend the Udon Bowl--try it at spice level 1 even if you normally opt for 0 spiciness (it's a sweet-spicy) and choose bulgogi beef if you like a smoky leaner meat or the pork belly if you're craving more of a rich fattiness. TLDR: Me and my partner got food poisoning from the chicken sandwich and had to call multiple times…read moreover the course of two weeks to get a partial refund from the owner. Me and a group of friends (8 total) were visiting the Olympic peninsula for a camping/backpacking weekend and stopped by Midtown on a busy Friday night and were quickly seated. The food tasted good and we had great service during our visit. Since we were a large group, and already had shared expenses for the weekend, when asked about the check we offered to put everything on one tab to save time. Later on that night however, after we had set up our tents at our campground, my partner began to experience intense stomach pains which turned into full blown food poisoning. I spent the next several hours helping them, before I also got sick. It was at this point we realized that it was from the chicken sandwich my partner had ordered at Midtown, since I had eaten her last remaining bites of the sandwich and this was the only food we shared that other members of our group had not also eaten (we all shared food at lunch earlier in the day). My partner and I essentially spent the night in the campground bathroom (we are extremely lucky they had one). The next morning we were feeling depleted, dehydrated, and decided to head home to recover while the rest of the group continued on the trip. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to get food down. I called Midtown the next business day and let them know what happened for their awareness mostly. They thanked me and told me their policy is a full refund if something like this happens and that the group should expect it soon. We didn't hear from them or get notification of a refund so we reached out a week later and they said they forgot and now the owner would only provide a refund for me and my partner's meals and that they never offered a full refund. They said since we had "12 people" on the ticket they wouldn't do it (our tab for 8 people was $186 before tax and tip) but if we had a doctor's note that could change things. I promised them we weren't making it all up and that I've never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant or even left a bad review before! Tired of the gas lighting I decided it wasn't worth arguing and let them know this will have to be my first. It's a shame their management is unprofessional because our experience in the restaurant with the food and staff was nice.

They have your classic brisket and even tongue, and if you like slightly chewier meat, go with brisket. If you want more tender, go with tongue. They even bring out dadegi, which is so classic for this dish and makes me feel at home. If you're a fan of mixing textures, definitely order the seafood pancake! So crispy, but also chewy from the seafood, and they definitely don't skimp out on portions of ingredients and the size of this dish in general! I have never had such a good seafood pancake, and it'll definitely be one I crave in the future. The place is so clean and cozy, modern, and the chairs are comfy. The workers are kind, and the prices are pretty fair (comparing to the Bay Area, though). Highly recommend!

Came across this place with strong reviews, and the name itself includes seollongtang, which is always a good sign that soup is taken seriously here. The restaurant is much more polished and refined than I expected. We ordered the combination and the cartilage and tendon one. I am always here for tendon, so that was an easy decision. My husband went with white wheat noodles and I chose the clear sweet potato noodles. It also came with rice, which was an unexpected but welcome addition. The banchan of kimchi radish and kimchi Napa cabbage were both excellent and refilled quickly without needing to ask twice. The soup is rich, creamy, and deeply comforting, the kind you immediately wish you had closer to home. Only wish is that they had a combination that included tendon, because that would be perfect. Definitely a spot I would come back to when we are in the area.

The restaurant was spotless, welcoming, and appeared to have been recently remodeled. Bringing a group of 19 people into a restaurant at noon could easily overwhelm the serving staff and the cooks, but that was absolutely not the case here. About half of our group wanted the traditional Korean BBQ experience, which included grill tables and cooking their own meats and vegetables, while the others preferred dishes prepared by the kitchen. The staff accommodated both without missing a beat. We were seated quickly, orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived surprisingly fast. And it was plentiful! There was only one server working the dining room, yet she handled everything efficiently, professionally, and with a smile. Every order was correct, and everyone felt well taken care of. The checks were presented and taken care of very quickly. Most importantly, the food was excellent. Every person in our group left happy, and many were already talking about returning with their families. It's rare to find a restaurant that can handle a group of 19 so smoothly while delivering great food and outstanding service. === 1. VERDICT/VALUE 3.5 stars: the only thing really…read morestopping us from going back is the perception of value (or price of the dishes). The food is decent and the service good. I know things have gone crazy after the pandemic...but it still feels a little surprising that in Langford (i.e. not downtown or at a ritzy mall like Mayfair with higher rent), the prices are as high as what you get food-wise. === 2. FOOD Kid's Udon ($11) It's good - the udon, broth, single tofu puff, and the kid's juice (apple). I'm just struggling a little bit with the cost to get such a small meal. It feels like it should be $9 or less, or perhaps had more in the udon bowl to make it feel like it was worth $11. Smoky Beef Short Ribs So 8 oz is $28 and an extra 4 oz is $12. We decided to go for both and found that $40 for 12 oz of meat really didn't come up with much (see pic). The portion size is a little on the small side - at least compared to the price. Full Meal ($4.75) This add-on gets you a small salad, one small side dish (no choice - just kimchi), and a bowl of rice. It's different than we're used to in Korean restaurants around the world (even compared to ones in Vancouver) where there is no choice of side dish, and no refills. Bulgogi Bibimbap ($18.50) This is the dish I would recommend - if you're looking for something to fill you up at reasonably value, you can't go wrong with beef and veg on rice. === 3. SERVICE The service was great and the food served in a reasonable time, no complaints here! === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a little on the darker side which is fine - clean and contemporary. There are tables for 2, 4, or perhaps 8 or more when they are combined. Wheelchairs and baby strollers fit well here. The expansive shopping complex parking lot outside should be able to accommodate your chariot easily.
