The place was completely empty of other customers when we walked in and stayed that way- not a good sign for a lunch restaurant around lunch time, though maybe we missed the rush? As other reviewers have pointed out, I also found the atmosphere to be lacking- very dark and cold; not even any music playing. As far as food goes... the word that comes to mind is "dry". The chicken in my wrap was cold and dry, my wrap itself was cold and dry... surprisingly, the gluten free cookie was in fact not dry and pretty good. I think with a few tweaks (warm up the wraps before rolling, better proteins) this could be a great little place, but at the moment, it doesn't stand out. read more

Really not worth it for the price. A salad and a sandwich was $35, both vegetarian. I asked for fresh mozzarella and my salad was loaded with shredded, highly-processed mozzarella, and all of the veggies were all wilted or squishy. I would definitely check this place out for a healthy lunch option after a long day of hikes. Street parking readily available, service was excellent- the staff was friendly interested in where we were from and what we were doing in town! Wow, what a tasty healthy find! Turnip the beet has pitas, salads, Bowls and wraps that you can add most anything you like. Thankfully they also have a few great menu item creations listed on the board to get you started. I had the falafel rather than lamb this time for a tasty Greek option. I was impressed with the quality of all the items including the tasty tzatziki sauce and the hot pita! All items made as you order it by kind staff who helps with suggestions if your stuck. It is a bit dark in this shop during lunch, it looks like part of the nightclub and is easy to pass by but don't miss this healthy tasty option, I Love finding a Greek menu item option in PA. Today was my first time here since it became Portside instead of Turnip the Beet. They have paninis now! I got the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese and Harvest paninis on herb focaccia. I didn't think there was enough jalapeño on the jalapeño one, but I'm going to find out if I can ask for extra. It was still excellent, and the bacon, fig, and spinach combination on the Harvest Panini was perfect. The counter person put a lot of care into making the sandwiches perfect. She checked to make sure that they were grilled just the right amount of time. Be aware that the door is extremely heavy, and is difficult to open if you're not strong. read more

I stopped in here last night for a quick bite on my way home from an Olympic peninsula road trip and im just sad i don't live closer to this place! I wish i could come here all the time! Its really cute and has a laid back hippy vibe. The person working was really friendly and fun to chat with. He offered several fun puns and asked me if id seen any vampires or werewolves during my Forks adventures. We chose this place because it had an excellent rating on Yelp with many excellent reviews and we were looking for a healthy option. I ended up getting the last of the soup for the day- kale and white bean and then my friend ordered the blast pita sandwich that came with bacon, romaine, sriracha mayo, sprouts, tomato and avocado. It was delish and massive. She had to take half to go. We also tried one of their cookies- the Hawaiian one- get it toasted. Warm cookies are better than cold. There is a bar next door that joins with the restaurant. Since the lighting was better over there we opted to take our food over and that was nice. 10/10 will return to this place next time im in Port Angeles! read more

Only 1 person working so service took a while. Food was subpar, especially with the expensive cost. Made the wrong sandwich the first time around so we had to wait another 10 minutes for the worker to make another sandwich. Restaurant itself is dirty and dated. I was so excited to eat here because I was craving fresh, clean food...but it was so bad that I will not be returning. I had the veggie wrap which was fine. Classic hummus, artichoke heart, tomato, black olive yumminess but not near the $14 cost. I'd pay $7 for the wrap happily. My partner ordered the new club rice bowl ($15) which had peas, half cooked bacon, and a mayonnaise sauce that covered the entire meal. She took 2 bites and couldn't eat any more of it. The restaurant opened at 11, and we got there around 11:20, but were obviously the first people there on a Saturday. It smelled of burnt paninis and was dark and not very welcoming. A group came in and it was nothing but one person working and she was sweet and helped everyone with their own personalized orders. Space to sit and eat and the food was AMAZING! Just okay. I ordered the harvest panini and it was very small and thin, spinach looked a little old and wilted; definitely surprised that it was priced at $15. I asked for sourdough and it came on what looked like basic store bought white sandwich bread. I also ordered the tomato parmesan bisque and it was not creamy at all, just a thin clear soup that was very spicy. The inside was dark with very sparse decor. On a positive note, the service was quick and polite. And the sandwich was made using a real panini press instead of just toasted, which was nice. Based on the reviews, we went there on a Saturday night for dinner. We walked in to find no one else there. Only one employee. We looked at the board and ordered our food. He then looked up and studied the board and told us he was checking to see if he had all the ingredients needed. As he put together our salads, he kept looking at the menu board (which listed the ingredients) as though he needed help with making the salads. I had ordered a Southwest chicken salad with lime-cilantro vinagrette. He called me over and said that whoever had made the dressing last hadn't "done it right" and did I want a different dressing.... The salads were pretty basic--nothing special. Single staff behind the counter was clearly overwhelmed with multiple customers. Our patience paid off in the end but is was painful to watch the process. Not the easiest on street parking situation either. We've got a couple more days ahead of us in the area so I'll be scouting out more vegan dining options. The most glaring problem was that for a small "Ninja Wrap" that was mostly filled with lettuce and very little else and a "Beets Bowl" that was tasteless and contained food that had been sitting around all day only to be tossed together at the end, we spent $25! Ridiculously overpriced for what we got! It's frustrating because I could see their potential (perhaps they had it, and the quality has waned, or maybe it's because we came in at the end of the day?). This was a close place near our airbnb for lunch. Its a good sandwich/salad place. From the outside, it definitely does not look like much, but this place commands a ton of retail space. We ordered the B.L.A.S.T. and Greekin Out because we were told by the gentleman helping us that those were the top two order favorites. They ran out of sprouts for my B.L.A.S.T., so I sub-ed it with beets. The pitas were overall done well (I loved my creamy siracha sauce) and they gave a fairly healthy/decent portion. Each was about $8. If I had been hungry, I think this might not have been enough. The cookies were decent, but a little on the "overcooked/tough" side. I sort of got the feeling that although everything is made from scratch/in-house, they don't have enough of a turnaround, so many things "sit around" for awhile. Driving from Cape Flattery back to Seattle, we stopped in Port Angeles for some lunch. This place actually caught my eye because of the catchy name and the great reviews of course. So we stopped in here Sunday for lunch. Most of the stores around it were closed. There was only 1 guy working the counter, so it took sometime to cater to everyone and assemble everyone's meal. But he was nice and apologized for the wait. kinda reminds me of a Subway line up but with way way better ingredients! Subway as in all the ingredients sit in lil bins and they put it on the sandwich or whatever you order right in front of you. We ordered: - BLAST (like a BLT but with sprouts and avocado) - BB King BBQ Chicken Pita - pasta salad of the day - around $20.00 I love sprouts, and loved the big serving I got on my pita! Place was very clean and large selection of salads, wraps, pittas and of course delicious cookies.
