Stay away. The food is basically microwaved food. I just ordered the tequila chicken which is the nastiest chicken I've ever tasted. The fries are defrosted fries, bland as can be. Our waitress has a huge attitude too. I really regret coming to eat here. They charge a dollar for side dip like ranch for fries, what in the heck is wrong with this place ? Horrible overpriced food. The Cider Mill bills itself as Mexican/American but I wish there were more Mexican dishes. Many of the standard dishes are there but are presented without much flair or creativity. I worry that this relatively new venture will fall victim to what I call the "Fisherman's Wharf Syndrome". That is, "you don't have to be much more than mediocre because you're only going to see 'Walt and Vera Fletcher from Biersley, South Dakota one time anyway, as they visit Sequoia National Park'." Of course, this means that the restaurant will not become much of a local eatery for the surrounding town of Three Rivers. And THIS means that their business might be pretty slow during the fall/winter season when tourism slows to a crawl. I will add some points back in because there are some nice people here. After a full day visiting national parks we were ready for a good meal. Cider mill is ice restaurant. Lots of booths. Good variety of a menu but not full bar service beer and wine. Waitress was pleasant and recommended steaks or ribs. Our party order 2 rib dinners and one NY steak dinner. Ribs were very good. Lots of BBQ sauce. Good sides available like baked potato. They have a really nice sized menu of different things, even deserts. Weordered the tequila chicken, lemon chicken and nachos appetizer. We loved it all I'm not sure why this place gets hate, the food did not take that long and was fresh. As for people complaint of bugs on the patio what's your problem do you not realize where you are surrounded by nature! We ate on the patio with a beautiful view and saw no problems. Ate here while in town for a friends wedding, and while the restaurant choices are slim pickings in Three Rivers, I would likely not return here just based on the service we received upon entering the restaurant. We were greeted by a young woman who showed us attitude from the second we walked in, told us to seat ourselves, and then proceeded to ignore us until I'm assuming our server came back from his break. Didn't come to offer us drinks, water, nothing. She just stood at the front and looked inconvenienced anytime someone came in for a table. Once we got our actual server, things improved quite a bit. He was great, attentive, and took our food and drink order at the same time since he knew we had been sitting for a while already. I got the Hawaiian burger and curly fries, it wasn't terrible but it was very bland. Not much flavor aside from the bbq sauce that's on the burger. My boyfriend got the ribs and I will say those were delicious. Perfect amount of sauce, fell right off the bone. Even though our server ended up being great, the one that greeted us left a bad taste in my mouth from the start. I would be unlikely to return simply because of that. read more

Wow....it amazes me how anyone could think that this place is great. My husband ordered the ribeye with a baked potato, & veggies. I had the apple walnut chicken salad. The steak was a good size but not seasoned, overdone and chewy. The potato was huge but beware...toppings are an extra dollar EACH, as is garlic bread. The veggies were sad...carrots & green beans cooked till dead and gray. Not worth $27.00 in my book. The salad was just iceberg lettuce, chunks of granny smith apple, a bit of Bleu cheese crumbs, some plain walnut pieces, and dry, unseasoned chicken pieces.... $9.00 The Margarita was ok...tasted like a premixed version... $8.00 You would think that at 5:00 pm, the start of dinner service, the food would be at it's peak. This restaurant seems to have turned over a new leaf. service was very fast, efficient, and friendly. Their mixed dreams were creative and fresh! They even took the time to grill my little burger patty outside on a wood fire BBQ as well as the pineapple along with it. The chile verde was comparable to my grandma's! It is definitely worth taking the chance on! Also, the restaurant looks nothing like the pictures! it is extremely clean and freshly renovated. Please don't pass up this great food spot. The Chili Verde was not good. The pork was over cooked and chopped small then drowned in sauce. I should have had the hamburger. My husband said his was fine. Second visit . The first time we were lured by the smell of bacon so we had to order an extra order of bacon with our eggs! We came back today a little after eleven. My sister had their burger with a huge serving of fries. The patty was a nice full one, not a fast food frozen type. I requested the garden omelet because I had seen it on the breakfast menu and the chef was able to accommodate my request even though it was a little after eleven am. Oh my, what a great omelette! Enough for a take home box for later. Stuffed full of all three colors of bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and even broccoli. An interesting touch was the smattering of crisp hash brown potatoes. Not too much, just enough to add texture and crunch. Afterwards we visited with Alvin who explained that they cook all their steaks and carne asada on the barbecue outside using oak wood. The smell from the barbecue burning the oak wood was delicious. He said that menu is available at lunch as well as dinner. He said it gets very busy about 6 pm. But they have plenty of seating both inside and on the two outside patios so a full appearing parking lot may not mean a long wait in the evening. Came on a quiet Wednesday night. Was hopeful but disappointed. Nice enough back patio area with a view, let us bring the dog back there. My wife's virgin daiquiri was pretty good, beer selected was limited but Dos Equis Amber is always solid, so no problems with the bar. Ordered a burger and some enchiladas...thirty minutes later, no food, an apology, and a statement that our food would be "out shortly.". More wait staff than customers, but our waitress disappeared for another 20 minutes. People who ordered 20 minutes after us are now finishing their meals...another apology, and finally the food shows up. Unfortunately not worth the wait. Enchiladas Suizas were OK, but really heavy on the cheese and mostly bland. My wife's burger was seriously dry / overcooked. Perhaps because it sat on a warmer for 40 minutes waiting for my lost enchiladas? Or because it appeared that a High school kid was working the grill? If the meal was $20 or $30 this would have been tolerable, but at $50 you expect basic execution. The staff seems inexperienced and unsupervised. I think if someone waits an hour for food that should take ten minutes, I would send out an appetizer, some chips or bread, or at least have a manager stop by to explain what happened. read more

This restaurant just re-opened after a fire that required full reconstruction. The new Cider Mill--same owners--is an attractive, pleasant venue with seating inside and outside, and great views. The staff are personable. We wife and I went there for breakfast to celebrate the re-opening. I ordered huevos rancheros with corn tortillas. Half an hour later--and the place was nearly empty--I got two eggs, canned frijoles refritos, and frozen (apparently) rice. The only tortillas were two flour ones served separately. The salsa--also served separately--was watery, insipid, and meager. My wife's chimichanga, also served with pre-made rice and beans, and flavorless. If you aren't in a hurry, and don't mind flavorless food, you may enjoy the friendly staff and the attractive ambience. read more

We stopped here after a day of hiking at Sequoia National Park. The ribs were DELICIOUS! They grill them over a fire outside the restaurant, giving them a smoky flavor. So tender, the meat falls right off the bones. Yum! They do put a lot of sauce on as other reviews have mentioned but we liked it that way. If you don't like a lot of sauce just mention that when you order. We also ordered a steak and it was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. The flan for desert was delicious too.
