The food is exceptional - generous portions, authentic and respectful of his culture and heritage and a curated wine list that is thoughtful and well paired. Who knew we'd find great falafel in Three Rivers, CA? We stopped Tony's on our recent trip to Sequoia National Park. It looked inviting and had excess parking (many places in the area lack ample parking). We were pleasantly surprised to find out there is great Greek restaurant here with excellent food. Their bar serves a good selection wine and beer. We had falafel as an appetizer and it was quite good. My husband had the grilled local pork chop. It was moist and delicious. I had a small Greek salad with gyro meat. The dressing and the sauce for the gyro were homemade and quite tasty. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was light and comfortable. Beautiful place inside and out! We went on Mother's Day and sure enough the place was packed. I had a reservation at 1 and was seated right away, awesome! Our server Katrina recommended the sangria to start things off and a sides of Hummus, both were delicious, some of the best fresh sangria we had had! I ordered the lamb shank as it is rare to find a place the truly knows had to do it right. They nailed it, tender juicy fall of the bone love. Nestled on a bed of mashed potato's with gravy and roasted carrots. If you love lamb this is your gig! We've heard a lot of great things about Tony's Taverna and we were so excited to try it out for ourselves. We made a same-day reservation and showed up for dinner on a Sunday evening. The hostess was charming and kind. We were seated in the patio, the first guest of the evening shift. The waiter did take a little while to greet us. Once greeted, he was kind and professional. We ordered an appetizer and then he never returned until he delivered our entrées. He also didn't return again until we were done with our meal. We wanted water refills and bread refills. We had further questions and he was nowhere to be found. We started with the Grilled Spanish Octopus which was so refreshing. Will definitely order that again. My husband had the Branzino and the rice was overly al dente like way too al dente. We waited for the waiter to come back so we can discuss the rice but again he left us a bit stranded. The food got cold as we waited and waited to flag down the waiter but he was no where to be found. My husband reluctantly ate the cold hard rice. I had the salmon gnocchi. It was good but extremely heavy. The baklava was a nice size and was delicious. Once the waiter arrived with the bill we shared our food experience with him and he said he'd notify the kitchen but that was it. No service. He didn't even try to make it right. Just a bit disappointing. I can only give 3 stars as the service was lacking and the rice was sadly a miss! The bill was $147 and I wished we could say it was worth it. read more

Wee come to Three Rivers every year and we could not wait to try Tony's. We met Tony several years back at the market and he told us he wanted to open a restaurant up here. Well he did and it is a beautiful restaurant and the food was like nothing we've ever had before. Starting with the bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip, the best combo I've had so far. The warm pita bread and hummus, yum! That hummus was so fresh and tasty. Every appetizer, entree and dessert was phenomenal and we will defintely be back next year and every year after that. Made reservations a week before Father's Day. Tony himself answered the phone and took down our reservation. We arrived only to be told they didn't have a reservation under our name nor were they seating anyone without a reservation. After a very disappointing meal elsewhere, Tony's Taverna completely saved the day. The food was outstanding from start to finish. We started with the spanakopita and the fire feta, and both were absolutely delicious. For our entrees, my husband had the gyro plate and I had the lamb burger. Everything was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and served in generous portions. The lamb burger was juicy and one of the best I've had, and every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere, and our wait staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. The only area that could use a little improvement is the front-of-house experience. It seemed like there could be a bit more organization and training at the host stand. That said, it was a very minor issue and didn't take away from what was otherwise an excellent dining experience. If you're visiting Three Rivers, Tony's Taverna is absolutely worth a stop. Buyer beware Spend your money somewhere else we were met with such disappointment when we showed up on a wed night at 8pm , there were probably 7 tables being used on the patio , and one big party inside, yet it took them 15 minutes just to greet us , and when they did , they tried to put us inside it felt like 100f there , and I requested to be outside ( at least 20 tables open ) and the staff said , " it's not the table it's the server" . I looked around and no one has food on their table and the staff is running around like it was New Year's Eve . I don't get it . Spend your money somewhere else . Tony's Taverna food Is authentic Mediterranean style, Greek to be specific. The restaurant ambience takes me back to the Greek islands we visited years ago. Tony, his wife and daughter are so kind and welcoming as soon as you step in to their place. We visited on a Sunday and the live music was so cool. We came here during a trip to Sequoia and it was the best meal we had on the trip. There was a long wait on a weekend even though we got there around 4:30pm and there was a lot of open seating. We also had to wait a while for service and to get our food. Not sure if they were understaffed but the food made up for it and they were also friendly. The branzino was my favorite - it had a smoky flavor to it and no bones. It complimented the rice nicely and we subbed the veggies for fries. The fries were huge and delicious! The place is new/remodeled and had plenty of seating inside. There was also an outdoor covered area with live music playing and sports on the tvs. Would come back on the next trip and make a reservation to hopefully help with the wait or get take out. read more

Let me just say a few things. We walked into this restaurant because our local AIRBnb host strongly suggested it. We walked in and were met by the owners, who we had never met before. They literally treated us like family! We had some apps, entrees and drinks. We paid the check and were about to leave when the owners called out to us to ask us what we thought of their food! Amazing! I told him that his calamari was some of the best I've ever had and compared it only to the calamari that I was served along the coast in Italy on the mainland. We had some time and thought we would give them a try. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food so I was very excited. We were kind of shocked they only served beer and wine and not a full bar selection. Food wise we went with a gyro with fries and were both disappointed. The bread itself tasted very fresh and pillowy, but the meat tasted old and lacked flavor or even enough sauce to overcome the lack of flavor. The fries were crispy and tasted quite amazing. If you're looking for a nice restaurant near Sequoia National Park, Tony Taverna in Three Rivers is a great option! Highly recommend to make reservation especially if it's a holiday. They did have to send people away bc it was reservation only and come back at later time. We went during Valentine's Day so they had a set menu but they usually have a whole menu of different Greek dishes. We didn't realize it was going to be a set menu but it was a good dinner! My bf said the lamb was so good! The dessert was delicious too! I didn't want to leave till it was gone haha! If we go back I would def love to try their other Greek dishes! read more

We were on our way to Sequoia National Park and honestly weren't expecting much when it came to food in the area... but Tony's Taverna completely surprised us. This place is such a gem. The vibe is amazing--live music, relaxed but lively atmosphere, and it works perfectly for both lunch or dinner. It's a Mediterranean spot inspired by the flavors of Cyprus, and you can really taste that authenticity in the food. We actually met the chef, and it made the experience even better knowing the care and background behind the menu. I was in Three Rivers last September and saw Tony's Taverna under construction. I was disappointed it wasn't opened to try yet since it looked like it was going to be a fun restaurant. Thankfully I got to return this May and I was so excited to get to try Tony's Taverna. My expectations were exceeded! The ambiance was great. We were seated on the terrace and they had a live musician and the volume wasn't intrusive. The servers were friendly and efficient. Our table shared the halloumi appetizer - and it was amazing! My husband and I visited this establishment last weekend as we were staying in Three Rivers to visit the national parks. We dropped in on Friday around 8pm just for a coffee and dessert but once we were seated, we were not provided any menus nor were we checked on or greeted by a waitress for about 30 minutes. Once we finally ordered our dessert, we noticed others seated around us were also waiting for an absurd amount of time to get attended. We even saw a couple of small parties leave due to the lengthy wait. The restaurant was not even that busy so I'm not sure what the issue was there. The hostess at the front was also proving to be unhelpful during this time as she was just standing there ignoring the calls from the nearby tables requesting a waitress, check, and even a box! Wow, talk about "it's not in my job description"! After we received our check around 9:30pm, my husband paid with his credit card that we also didn't see again for another 15 minutes and once we finally got out of there and after a few days later, he realized that Tony's not only charged for our $27 bill but someone else's $100+ bill. We were already home at this point so all he could do was call his credit card company and Tony's to get the $100+ charge refunded. After speaking to manager Derek, the issue has still not been resolved. Apparently neither of those charges could be "found in their system". We still also have not received a call back from this manager as he stated he would do as of two days ago. That call back would still be nice. C'mon Tony's. Do better, please. read more
