Absolutely outstanding! The family got dinner around 6, they close around 8pm and it was still fresh and flavorful like they just opened for the day. The burger was flavorful, the wimpy sauce they put on it wasn't overpowering, it worked just right with the cheese, meat and veggies. The bun was traditional like I like them, no sesame seeds, just a plain toasted bun. The fries were seasoned perfectly and had a nice crispiness to them. Not really into crinkle cut fries but this place did them right! Haven't ordered from here in a long while but I definitely wanna come back here more often if they're bringing this kind of service! I have heard about this place forever! Finally went in while we were walking downtown. The inside is absolutely adorable. Completely decked out in popeye and the interior of the building looks almost brand new. I never would have expthe inside to look so nice, from standing outside lol. The bathrooms were very clean. They have an order yourself kiosk as well as a regular register. The cashier/cook(?) was very helpful and pleasant. There was two small glitches with the fries. My husband ordered a #3 Double Wimpy combo. He added mozzarella sticks and upgraded to large. From the order kiosk, to the back of house ticket, the fries got cancelled out from the order. So he received zero fries. The cashier said it was an issue with the new POS system. So brought his fries out asap. My issue with the fries, the kiosk gives you options if you want no seasoning, extra seasoning, or extra crispy fries. I selected extra crispy and they came out regular with super extra seasoning. I love seasoning but I couldn't even finish 1/4 of the bag. I ordered the sailor burger combo and it was delicious. Foodie here :) This is easily my favorite place to go to for a CHICKEN SALAD. Nothing crazy, but the fried chicken strips, cheese, tomato, lettuce AND pickles with ranch just does something for me!! Service is usually fairly quick, and always made fresh! My husband loves their burgers, I love the churro donuts , fried mushrooms, and minerals sticks as well. The service went well, and the setting for a try at a new hamburger restaurant was perfect. Ordered to go, a wimpy's combo and a bandit combo with fries and onion rings. Got it home took fries and onion rings out then the burgers. Due to the way the burgers were wrapped and placed in the bag once picked up inside the bag all the contents of both hamburgers fell out. Review of Wimpy's Hamburgers in Tulare, CA (because the gps routed us there instead of the downtown Visalia location! Oh well, it's a cuter bldg and has the same menu.). We were in the area visiting family. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. The nostalgia inside is great. They play Popeye cartoons all day. Also have some dolls on a shelf on the wall. The napkin wall was done by customers (we didn't do that tho). Brian ordered the jalapeño bandit burger (pictured on the front window) and onion rings, and I ordered the single bluto burger with fried mushrooms. I believe there was an upcharge for changing from the fries. I added bacon and avocado to my burger. Wimpy burger is the standard, the bluto burger is supposed to be 1/4 lb but it didn't look like it to me. It was delicious though. Had American cheese, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo and mustard. They gave me ranch for my mushrooms. Brian's was a double and had everything mine had except a ton of jalapeños too. He loved it but he was so full! The meat was kind of drowned by the toppings, but it was still really good. Onion rings and mushrooms had a great crunch but they were screaming hot and my mushrooms kept squirting hot liquid into my mouth! Ow lol! But soooo good. They fried them whole. The Double Bruto burger #4 was nothing short of amazing! The fries were *chefs kiss* perfect. The parties were perfectly cooked and were so so juicy. The flavor literally melts into your taste buds. It's like a vintage burger joint. Located on a one way street on Court St. in between Main St and Acequia Ave, parking is a little difficult so if you find a spot take it quick! Walking distance from the Convention Center so that's a big W. My total came out to $17.16 so be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you want a large combo (worth it). I've always enjoyed the Tulare Wimpy's, and decided why not try the Visalia location. I tried something new this time around, just a patty melt. I mean, I have no complaints and would have 5 starred this review has it not been for the fries. I remember Wimpy's fries being packed with flavor and for some reason these just disappointed. Other than that, the melt itself was great. Flavor in every bite, and I added sautéed onions, that was what took it to astronomical levels. I was pretty happy to see another little burger spot here in town and RIGHT by downtown. Highly recommended and something I've been wanting to try. Atmosphere: Very open, nice TVs, very clean, indoor and outdoor seating. Very vibrant and nice. Food: I got the Bruto combo. It was very good. I got it wrapped in lettuce, bacon, cheese and extra pickles. No complaints. Price: I know quality costs. But when you are charged for EVERY.SINGLE.THING. It's a little obnoxious. I am by no means cheap when it comes to quality. I had to pay for the bacon ( I get that ), paid for it to be wrapped in lettuce, paid for the cheese (even though it's in the picture), and extra pickles.... I've never been charged for a burger being wrapped in lettuce and extra pickles. All in all. It's a great place with some great food. They might want to cut the excess costs. read more

Well...another great burger place makes a poor decision and becomes an eh burger place. Let's face it, if the fries are amazing, you will overlook any minor issue with the burgers. It looks like Wimpy's has taken their famous fries (the ones that there have been news reports on) and replaced them with the same fake beer battered style ones they changed to at Farmer Boys that don't have great flavor. Even if they used the same seasoning as on the "famous ones", these fries don't make the cut. The restaurant itself is still nice and clean, the service is fine, the burgers are decent and usually hit the spot. But the fries...it's a no thank you. They don't taste good, they don't smell good, and frankly ruin the burger experience. The flooding of Yelp with self-serving pictures don't say much either, especially over 800 of them. I would much rather see what the customers post vs photo shopped or whatever you want to call them. Sorry Wimpy's, I'm no longer a fan. read more

Let me start by saying this is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. However, last night was the worst dining/customer service I have ever received. The employee Blaine was beyond rude to my mother and me, as well as other customers. He was telling everyone who walked in 10 minutes prior to closing that they were closing in 5 minutes.. causing customers to leave without ordering. He didn't even offer the choice of taking it to go. Then he approached my mom and me as we were eating at 8:54 and said he was going to lock the door and stood  over us, assuming he wanted us to grab our half-eaten food and carry it out. Completely unexceptable. I told him we were going to finish our food, and he walked off. This was such poor and rude behavior. Rating Double Zero!! read more

Tried their 2 for $4 special. I was shocked at the value on this! So, the burger meat tasted somewhat like turkey today. I added grilled onions and cheese. I think they grilled the purple onion and didn't add any sweet grilled onions separate from that. The toppings made the burger slide around a little but it was a great sized burger for the cost! If you're on a budget this is a stellar "limited" time deal! I would totally feed my family this as the portion size was good! Also the toppings and veggies were fresh! The chicken sandwich however was the total standout! I would say the meat amount is 2-2.5 size thicker than a value sandwich elsewhere. The chicken patty ends were sooo delicious and crisp! Sigh .. I guess Racism is a thing in Visalia. How disconcerting. Ok.. let's start with a slight more positivity. The fries were hot and very well seasoned. The burgers - well they are ok. They're definitely nothing to write home about The service however was more cold. Upon entering this establishment I did not receive any form of greeting - matter of fact I felt as if I was in a stare-down contest with the cooks who had their backs against the counter - not doing anything. And of course they seen me, the only thing that's darker in this establishment was our skin color. So anyway, after the assumed cashier ended her conversation or debate about the schedule, or what was on the calendar, or whatever held her attention on that paper she turned to us and greeted us.. keep in mind this was about 10 to 15 seconds later. I guess customers aren't important enough to say, " HIIII! I'll be right with you". $19.19 later my partner realized he didn't have cheese on his sandwich - so she (the cashier) came to check. Meanwhile this going on - people that are Mexican and White are coming into Wimpy's and they are getting the warmest of greetings.. (rolls-eyes). So anyway back to the handicap sandwich.. she (the cashier) checks the sandwich and takes it to the back and then 30 seconds later we receive the same sandwich with a slice of cold cheese on it. I'm like -- so we're not going to redo the whole thing?? Was she (the cashier) rude? No she wasn't. Will I ever come back here again? No. Will I recommend others to come here again? I love going to place around 12-6pm, as that is some of the best times to enjoy the ambiance of the joint, The food is delicious and is priced great, I personally like 2 grab their signature 2 for 5.50 Wimpy's burgers along with a large drink. 5 Stars. It is in a great location, upon walking in you are treated immediately by a very friendly staff, the location is clean, and has an inviting atmosphere... Now for the food... Burgers are great, not greasy and not heavy they taste very good and the seasoning is on point. I went to this restaurant on a Wednesday evening around 7 PM. The service and food was very good. I took the order to go so on this trip not much to say about the interior of the restaurant. The food was very good. I try not to do the combo usually try something additional to the hamburger other than fries. Yes it is kind of sad that you get charged for every little extra but my guess as to keep the over Expense down. There aren't many good restaurants in Tulare, and I'd say zero exceptional ones (though a couple come close). That's why Wimpy's is way over-hyped. Which is hard to believe because it's also over-priced. It's fresh burger-stand prices for frozen patties and fries. It's all frozen. The burger will never taste very good, and will always be over-done for many people, period. The produce never impressed the few times I've been also. Same for the "famous and special" fries. They're obviously just seasoned salt and sugar added to some average frozen fries. Kudos to this little trick tho, I add it to my fries at home now and *gasp* it's like I ate at Wimpy's for one dollar... The reputation this place gets is probably largely in part to its very cool and sociable owner. But as cool as he is I simply can't claim there to be good food or even a good deal to be had here. read more
