Came here on a weekend motorcycle ride to the Sequoias with three of my girlfriends. After a long, hot and winding ride through the parks, we pulled in here for early dinner. It was air conditioned and pleasant...only a few patrons at this time. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs and changed to baked potato instead of fries. Had two glasses of the homemade Horchata..that was yum. The potato was BIG..it had already been buttered and sourcream and onions. It was tasty and perfectly baked. The ribs were meaty and somewhat fall off the bone tender..the only thing is that they had a slightly reheated taste to them..kinda that taste you get when you microwave leftover meat..but did not appear to have been microwaved..definitely had a reheated taste..with enough sauce they were good. I prefer smoky ribs for flavor, but they were meaty so that made up for that! My tablemates seemed to enjoy their meals as well. If we were back this way, would perhaps try it again but not order the ribs. read more

Well - after seeing the high and low ratings we decided to roll the dice and go here for dinner. Their "seasonal" strawberry lemonade was minute maid pink lemonade with frozen strawberries in it. My daughter got the salmon with mashed potatoes and veg on the side. The mashed potatoes were runny & tasted like they were from flakes. The salmon was well seasoned but dry. My husband and i got burgers. It was clear they were previously frozen patties - fine but nothing special. The guacamole on my burger was runny and off tasting. My youngest (10) got a corn dog and said it wasn't very good. Their french fries tasted frozen too. I doubt they cook anything from scratch in this restaurant. I wasn't looking for a wow meal but this was very sub-par. On top of that - our service was terrible. There were 2 waiters in our area. Ours was MIA several times and the one who wasn't serving us eventually stopped by to ask if we needed anything after seeing us sitting unattended for so long. read more

We Paid 41 dollars for a burger and fries meal and a chicken rice and French fry meal. Got charged 1 whole dollar for each side of barbecue sauce and ranch. Each side came in a different sized Tupperware container (none of the dip bowls matched at all) The food was nothing like the picture. Seems they cook the food inside the restaurant and then place it on a grill outdoors for a few minutes to convince customers it's grilled. The waitress was nice but the place was completely empty. When a customer asked (at dinner time) why nobody was there, the waitress responded that it wasn't a busy time of day yet. The food was EXTREMELY overpriced. My fiancée was disappointed with the food. The French fries were the frozen kind they cook in oil on the stove and tasted bland. The 1/4 pound of rib meat was absent from my burger and my onion rings were soggy. We waited nearly a half hour to be served so thought we were going to receive excellent food. As we left we placed the payment at the front desk and walked out when the waitress didn't reappear from the back after 5 minutes. read more

I was extremely skeptical of this establishment just because it honestly looked sketchy (both the building inside and out and the pictures on the menu). Parking was especially hectic, since there was some sort of graduation party going on that took up the entire parking lot (would have appreciated it if they had reserved some parking for actual patrons and made the party goers park somewhere else; they were there for a long time, they didn't need the prime parking). However, the food was pretty decent, even if it looked somewhat disgusting. The Apple Walnut Salad was alright, and the rest of my party enjoyed the Westerner hamburger and a chicken enchilada. Service was incredibly slow, but maybe that was because of the party? The best part was the Three Layer Chocolate Cake - that thing was heaven! If nothing else, go try that cake! It was marvelous! The cake is probably the only reason I gave this place four stars. read more

Huge disappointment! We where really tired after a day of hiking the trails in Sequoia, and wanted something yummy. This place was the wrong spot to pick. First let me say that everything we got was To go because we have a 4 year old and don't subject people to his behavior after spending all day walking around and no nap. We ordered three burgers, fries,house salad and two cups of soup. My husband got the western BBQ burger, it was way over cooked and obviously a frozen patty, not even the good ones it tasted like a bag of the frozen ones you get at smart and final or Costco. Possibly some freezer burn as the meat was so dry it took three ketsup packets just to get it down. All three burgers tasted like that, and my four year old wanted nothing to do with the burger. The house salad was huge but it was only tomatoes, salad and carrots. Very little dressing and very bland. The veggie soup wasn't too bad but the carrots were not peeled prior to them being tossed into the soup, which just seems sloppy. My husband said the clam chowder was ok but I was apprehensive to try it. The highlight of our meal was the French fries but alas no Heinz, just some off brand of first street katsup. I understand it is the off season but if you are going to charge almost 10 bucks for a burger it should not be a frozen, possibly freezer burned patty. When we come back we will stay away from this place. read more

We stopped here at 8 pm after a great day in Sequoia National Park. It was a warm 86 degrees outside, and it was about the same inside the unairconditioned restaurant (i.e. It was WAY too hot - we all downed our waters and I was fanning myself with the little cardboard table advertisement for margaritas.) We were given the choice of patio seating, but both inside & outside were too warm. We had a new waitress, so I give a little latitude, but we didn't see our waitress much and needed to ask other servers for assistance on a few occasions. The wait for food was much too long. The steak, shrimp & baked potato were all good. My husband thought the steak was over seasoned, but I thought it was fine. I was disappointed with the fresh apple cider. I'm sure it was fresh, but coming from Massachusetts, I was expecting the non-clear, darker colored fresh pressed cider - but the $3 glass was more like the clear juice -- too sweet for my taste. Our family had ordered 3 glasses because we all love cider, but we were all disappointed. But what REALLY made me truly angry was the poor customer service. My son got the Sequoia Nachos. He was too polite to send them back, but lost his appetite after a few bites. Literally 80% of the nachos were still there. The guacamole was runny, looked unappetizing and was tasteless. I tried one nacho; He & I both agreed the nachos tasted stale, so I asked the server (after asking another server to find our waitress yet again) to take it off our bill. She was friendly, came back and said, "We took 10% off for your trouble of the stale nachos." I was pleasantly surprised, thinking she had removed the nachos and gave us an additional 10% off the entire bill, but when I opened the bill, she had only taken 10% off the $10 nachos, for a whopping $1 discount. When I asked her to take the entire nachos off the bill, she sent the manager/owner/chef? who ARGUED with us that the nachos were NOT stale, that he made them at 1 pm. That may be, kind sir, but it is 7-8 hours later, in a HOT & HUMID restaurant, and they TASTE STALE!!!!! He offered a 50% discount on the nachos but at that point, I'm seething, and refused to pay for the nachos. He said, "Fine, I will take it off your bill, but the nachos are NOT STALE." Perhaps it is a point of pride for him, and that's fine, but arguing with your customers is not smart for business, because we just left angry as opposed to what could have been taken care of much more professionally and courteously. read more

Plus is the out door patio deck thing was ok because you could sit outside without light pollution. My guess is these guys exist because there is no competition of any sort. read more

This place was pretty bad. First of all-it's not really barbecue. Sure they have ribs, but if you think you're going to get pulled pork, tri-tip, baked beans, corn bread, or coleslaw you're going to be very disappointed. The server was pleasant, but slow and inattentive-I sat staring at an empty water glass for 20 minutes before I could request a refill. Other tables who sat after we were seated received their order before us, and we only ordered burgers. My wife ordered a salad with dressing on the side and was served a salad laden with dressing AND and dressing on the side. Ours son's burger was served with 1000 Island dressing which wasn't even mentioned in the menu. All of this was pretty annoying, but by far the worst part the strip of flypaper, completely saturated with the carcasses of a thousand insects, conspicuously hanging next to the door to the patio. I wish I would have kept driving, and I would suggest you do the same. read more

Service was good. Food was flat and stale tasting. Vege burger with vegs was a bun with overcooked microwave stir fry vegs and nothing else (no patty). As a life long vegetarian this was a new one and not a good new one. Salads were small and cramped into a bowl with little of the extras included. This restaurant burned down in 2012 and reopened in early 2014, so it is new inside. They told us that only the deck was original. They have a large bbq outside on which they cook their meats, which is a nice touch. We had hamburgers which were okay; not the best and certainly not the worst; but they also have many other items. There aren't many places in Three Rivers to eat so I'd eat here again if I needed something to eat. There is also a pizza and a Mexican restaurant in town. read more

Really terrible, although the young man who served us was ok, courteous and reasonably efficient. It was cold and raining, so my husband and myself ordered coffee, it was undrinkable, we told the server and he brought water. My husband and I ordered NY steaks med rare, with baked potato and vegetables. The steaks were tough and flavorless, cooked medium, the menu said thick cut, but they were pretty thin (less than 1/2" & the veggies were a mix of carrots and green beans: both of which appeared old and withered, as soon as I saw them I thought; "eeewww, I don't even want those on my plate!" The potato had a small cut down the middle with a tiny amount of butter, a little sour cream had been piped down the cut, the potato was hot but still hard in the center. My teenage sons had burgers with fries, they said the burgers were just ok, but the fries had no flavor. They had requested Ranch, which was proclaimed as tasting bad, like soured dairy. I had to ask to have the horrible coffee taken off the bill, even though I had already said it was awful and we.could not drink it, at $5 for 2 coffee's it was the principle. In reality I should asked for a free meal given how bad it was! The total was $77 for 4 people, no appetizer or dessert. I do NOT reccomend this establishment. read more

DO NOT expect good food here. I'm conflicted writing this because the service was very pleasant and timely, but I can't give this place more than 2 stars, based on the food and menu. I can only speak to what we ordered but the food was fundamentally pretty awful. "Chips and queso" appetizer was literally movie theatre nacho cheese with pico on top. "Chicken wings" appetizer was 5 little nubs of frozen-then-fried wings, swimming in store-bought sauce, served with Hidden Valley Ranch. "Chicken Walnut Salad" had nice fresh lettuce, but dried up grilled chicken on top. "Steak Fajitas" were not sizzling when served, with tough meat swimming in butter. The staff were so nice and food came out quick, but I wished we hadn't come, based on the low quality of the food and unbalanced high prices on the menu. I think they're known for grilling, so maybe the steaks and burgers would be better? Also, no draft beer or any cider to be found in this "Cider Mill". read more

My husband and I stopped here on a whim on our drive home after a weekend in sequoia national park. We were just looking for a quick place on the main road to fuel up for the long drive ahead of us, but we were pleasantly surprised by one of the most lovely, relaxing, romantic dinners we've ever had. If you are an exacting person looking for something with shaved fennel on it and wanting a server who can tell you the life story of the chicken you are eating, it might not be your thing. But, if sipping a glass of wine and eating delicious carne asada while watching the sunset light up the snow-capped sierras and listening to hundreds of birds chirping in the twilight down by the lazy river sounds like your thing, make a point to come here at some time during your visit to the park. The service was excellent, extremely welcoming. You can tell that this is a family-owned place and it give off the same vibe as going over to a friend's house for a backyard barbecue. Everything we ordered was delicious. The aforementioned carne asada was superb, my husband's chicken was well-seasoned and had a terrific sauce, and the fries and garlic bread that came with really hit the spot. The vegetables they served on the side were another pleasant surprise, contra the other yelp reviews, they are definitely not some microwaved stir fry mix, but instead consisted of from-the-garden carrots and broccoli, simple, but extremely fresh. They have a solid wine selection although it's not listed on the beverage page of their main menu, so be sure to ask for the wine list if you're in the mood. If you're lucky enough to be in three rivers on a warm, clear day, go right around sunset and sit out on the back deck for one of the most gorgeous views in California. Indulge in a little Monkey Bread or one of their excellent shakes for dessert - you did enough hiking to deserve it! read more
