I hope someone reads this I honestly never thought I would be writing a review like this. I have been coming to Sequoia Sandwich Company for many years, and as an elderly customer who has supported this business for a long time, it really hurts to say that I left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and frankly disgusted. What upset me the most was watching employees handle food without gloves, including handing food to dine-in customers, while also working the register and doing other tasks. Seeing someone handle money, touch the register and other surfaces, and then go right back to handling food without gloves was extremely upsetting to me. I understand that employees have many responsibilities, but as a customer, I should not have to sit there wondering whether the food being handed to me has been handled in a clean and sanitary manner. I came in expecting to enjoy a meal from a place I have trusted for years, and instead I found myself feeling uneasy about eating it. Maybe some people will say I'm being overly concerned, but when you've been a customer for many years, you notice when things don't feel right. Basic cleanliness and proper food handling should never be something customers have to worry about. It genuinely saddens me because I have supported this business for so long. I don't want to see a place I've enjoyed for years lose sight of something as important as cleanliness and customer confidence. I sincerely hope the owners and management read this and take it seriously. Please pay closer attention to how employees handle food, especially when they are also handling money and touching other surfaces. Your longtime customers deserve better, and I deserve to feel comfortable eating the food I am paying for. It's been a while since I'd been to Sequoia. I was glad to see that the California Pastrami hadn't changed. Because the last time I visited and ordered the California Chicken Breast sandwich, I was super disappointed with the update and the much smaller piece of chicken. My most recent visit was much more like the Sequoia I know. Stuck in the hospital for an overnight visit, and my daughter asks, "Is there a specific food or place anywhere that you'd like me to bring you food?" She had to have known already, but all I could think about was my favorite sandwich from my favorite sandwich shop. A Classic Reuben from Sequoia Sandwich Co. Over the years I've been here several times and have sampled several different sandwiches but I always go back to what I know and love. All of the sandwiches are a generous portion, carefully prepared fresh with quality ingredients. I personally love the classic Reuben because it's served nice and warm with thinly sliced cuts of corned beef. I'm not big on sauerkraut but I was shocked by how much I really enjoyed the texture and not overly powerful flavor of the sauerkraut with the corned beef. The dressing is a tangy sauce that really compliments the meat and sauerkraut together, and the Rye bread is also a great choice to bring the flavors of the sandwich together. I wasn't able to eat my sandwich as soon as it was brought to me, so the picture won't do justice, but it is super tasty! With all that being said this particular batch from my sandwich may have been a bad cut. Not sure if the Buena vista location is ordering enough of the squaw bread but the last few times I've gotten the roasted turkey it's been bland fake squaw that is not from Pyrenees. I've asked several times already to have the manager ask and confirm and they've said they're just not ordering enough. Not sure if it's a manager issue or if they're just not going to use Pyrenees squaw, but if they're going to use cheaper bread and charger more than unfortunately they lost a customer whose gotten this sandwich since childhood. They pack the salad with lots of grilled chicken, avocado and not just a bunch of lettuce. Portions are big enough for 2 people to share. We've also tried their chicken pesto sandwich (even good until the next day left over), pastrami and the ham & swiss. We always call or order online and get our orders on time and complete. We ordered the Wardof salad sandwich(chopped white chicken, tosses with mayo, celery, red onions, apples and walnuts, served on a croissant with lettuce) and broccoli salad. The food itself definitely tasted fresh and flavorful, it's nice to see you can customize your choices with so many options.
