I genuinely hate writing this because Sequoia used to be one of my go-to spots. It wasn't just a restaurant--it was a reliable, high-energy waterfront hang. I biked there after work, brought friends, celebrated a birthday with 40 people. It delivered. That version of Sequoia doesn't exist anymore. What's replaced it feels confused at best--and increasingly indifferent to its customers. Start with the menu. Signature items quietly disappearing (RIP the fried chicken) is one thing--but replacing them with a lineup that feels completely out of sync with the setting is another. The bigger issue is the so-called "happy hour," which has been rebranded into a 3-5pm "midday special." Let's be honest: that's not happy hour. That's an early bird special for people who don't have jobs with normal hours. By the time most people get there, it's over. Calling it anything else feels misleading. And the vibe? Gone. Who is ordering spaghetti, rigatoni, grilled chicken paillard, or a salad while standing at a bar with friends? Where are the finger foods? But what really stood out--and not in a good way--was the staff experience. When we asked basic questions about drink specials, the bartender was dismissive and didn't know the pricing. When we escalated to the general manager, Des Comer, the response was worse: condescending, vague, and centered around "data" supposedly driving these decisions--only to later acknowledge there isn't actually data yet to support the changes. That disconnect was frustrating and clearly a misrepresentation to us. Meanwhile, multiple spots steps away on the Georgetown waterfront are doing exactly what Sequoia used to do well: clear, compelling happy hour offerings at times people can actually attend. This isn't just a few bad changes--it feels like a place that has lost its identity and stopped listening to its customers. I hope they turn it around. But right now, there's no reason to come back--and that's something I never thought I'd say.

The Sunday brunch buffet was absolutely amazing! Endless choices, fresh oysters, crab cakes being made in front of you, bottomless mimosas, beautiful outdoor seating, wonderful service. Worth every penny!

Attended a private event here. The space is beautiful with amazing views of the harbour. They did an excellent job with the event. Appetizer were in constant rotation and they walked around. The bar had great drink selections, and even provided a smokey old fashion that was being walked around. The entertainment was fun, with a mentalist, and she was beyond amazing, with her husband as her partner, they were awesome people and a lot of fun. I know this review on the event space but if ever get a chance check out Evansons, Mentalist duo! The staff kept our food hot and always full, Buffett style. Which was all good. The risotto was so good, and loved the salmon! Also tried a butternut squash soup with ginger marshmallows, oh my just stellar. I thought it was going to be too sweet, but it was not. Definitely enjoyed the event and the event space and staff.

Service was stellar! That's why I'm giving it a four. My meal was good... but I wanted it to be excellent. Price was fair for what we got. The room we were in was nothing special.., I'd prefer to sit outside but the weather wasn't great. For me it was a glad we tried it but I'd rather try something else than come again.

This beautiful waterfront restaurant is in Georgetown. We sat outdoors under big umbrellas & watched boats & ferries pass us by. Service was excellent & lunch portions were huge and prices very reasonable. We started with a warm cranberry nut bread plate; it was amazing. I enjoyed a shrimp lobster salad with 1/2 lobster, 5 juicy shrimp & a plate of delicious salad in a tangy vinaigrette. Friends enjoyed a lobster roll & salmon plate. The 3 layered mouse cake was a perfect dessert for 4 of us to share.

Coming to Sequoia for a work Christmas party is a real treat, because you have an opportunity to relish in exceptional food, company, and a view of the water. While it was dark while we dined I found myself regularly looking out over the Potomac, and I imagine this location is perfect in the summer and spring for enjoying the sites. Our servers were exceptional and gave us every bit of attention our large party needed. The seafood tower I wish I had gotten a picture of before folks attacked it, but it was beautiful and covered in such variety of crustaceans. The grilled octopus on a bed of hummus was a really nice twist I had not tried before, and the branzino was delightful (just watch out for those pesky bones that stay behind).

I had their Chilean sea bass and it was *chef's kiss* ‍ it was so good and I'm glad I went with that choice! I had dinner here around sunset. It was kind of chilly out so I wanted a view without dealing with the cold. Lucky for me everyone wanted to be outside. I had many seating options. The last time I came to Sequoia was to a Yelp event a few years ago. It was nice to revisit this location. I enjoyed their cocktails. Outdoor seating is plentiful with heaters. Our waiter was friendly.

I can't believe I waited this long to post this review. My best friend and I came to this beautiful establishment, over the summer when she visited and the party in my mouth for those hours there is indescribable. We went for their Sunday unlimited brunch. Total for brunch, including taxes and gratuity is about $130. This is deep, I know. But in my opinion, it is totally worth it. You have access to a seafood tower bar, omelette making station, including premium meats; fresh waffle station, fresh fettuccine Alfredo pasta station, crabcake making station, taco station and several other food options including dessert- freshly made live and bottomless mimosas and Bellinis. There was something for everyone, but if you do not like seafood, you may not feel the price is worth it. As for me in my house- I'm here for all of it :-D

Hmm. So, I came here for my cousin birthday dinner on a Thursday night. The service was really good and the staff were pretty nice. I heard a lot about this place but I guess we came on a slow day .. well we in fact did lol because not that many people were there. This is a pretty classy restaurant. The drinks were very good! I ordered the blueberry mojito. It was tasty but it could've used a bit more alcohol I switched my vegetable out and got asparagus instead. My food was OKAY. I did not like the sauce on the short rib. It was not for me and that is why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars. I would have gave it a 3.5. We had the lobster flatbread for an appetizer and it was pretty good. I would definitely come back to experience a brunch here. I would not come back for dinner because there is not that much meal variety for me.

I recently visited Sequoia to try their happy menu and it was phenomenal from the service, interior dining space, and menu offerings. Everything I sampled from happy hour - elote, lobster roll, ceviche, chicken tacos, mini tarts, truffles - was very well portioned with amazing flavor. The service is impeccable with the team making sure drinks are promptly refilled, tables are cleared and making sure the dining experience is exceptional. I spent most of the evening on their outdoor patio with views of the Georgetown waterfront. $$ Paid parking decks nearby and paid street parking

HH calamari and almost half are peppers, not good for $10.

I visited the Pembroke as part of…read morea work team dinner during Restaurant Week, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, super friendly service, and great ambiance. The space is gorgeous; I love all the plants, and the light brown, light blue, and white color combination for their furniture makes the space look classy and modern. The light brown leather couches are comfortable, and I love the way they circle around the tables to create a natural, cozy booth. Our food was just as beautiful as the space. The Restaurant Week menu comes with an appetizer, main, and dessert. Given how indecisive I can be (and how expansive the normal menu is), I was grateful to have my choices narrowed down a bit. I started off my meal with the octopus. The octopus was remarkably tender and not overly chewy, and had a delightful char that gave it a slightly smoky flavor. They double downed on the smokiness with their burnt chili oil, which, alongside the lemon and salsa verde, gave the dish a wonderfully balanced smoky, savory, and slightly acidic flavor. The crushed potatoes had a lovely crispy shell on the outside and served as a great base for the tender octopus. The main course was probably the easiest choice of the evening -- I'm absolutely obsessed with branzino, so the second I saw it on the Restaurant Week menu, I knew that was what I had to get. The fish is beautifully broiled, with a nice, crispy skin and super tender, flaky flesh. It's topped with a few pieces of roasted garlic and a wedge of lemon. The fresh lemon juice, as well as the lovely side salad, offered a great pop of freshness to bring the whole dish together. And finally, for our dessert, I chose the chocolate torta. This wonderful dessert is remarkably rich and decadent, with a strong dark chocolate flavor. It's topped with a lovely marsala date sauce and scoop of sheep's yogurt ice cream, but still doesn't feel overly sweet. The sheep's yogurt in the ice cream offers a bit of tanginess, and I loved the addition of the candied walnuts for a bit of crunch.

My main issue here is with a manager I presume she was. The steak and eggs I had ordered came with a hair on the side of the potatoes. She stopped by shortly after our food came to ask how things was and that is when I brought up the hair. I just asked for the potatoes to be remade. I understand hair happens but I was not thrilled when she insisted on remaking my entire dish. I gave up after the third insistence after I repeatedly said it was fine, I just want new potatoes. My original dish was delicious (I avoided the potatoes of course). Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. However, my new dish was horrible. I had a feeling it was going to be awful as it's expected the new dish would be rushed whenever the original dish gets sent back. The steak was chewy and not medium cooked. Overall dish was very salty. If they added another seasoning I did not notice as the salt overwhelmed it. It also appears they doubled portioned everything but the steak. I would have much appreciated the original dish with the hair in it. I had expressed this to Arti and he was sympathetic. He was unknown to the issue I had with my dish. At that point I didn't really want anything more from here. Just the check and to leave. After that whole incident, I would have assumed my order would have been discounted or taken off the bill. That was not the case. She also vanished from our sight since taking my food back. My mom ended up not enjoying her meal either. She had the French omelette and thought the mustard was a rather overpowering touch to it. My mom was also surprised my meal was still on the bill. She was going to complain but I withheld as it truly is not that deep especially since the manager didn't care to come back to check if the new dish was satisfactory or not. I was given a warning not to go here by my friends and boy did I wish I listened. I wouldn't come back on my own accord but to eaches own. This restaurant will most likely stay here forever given its amazing ambiance and ease of location.

It was smooth, balanced, and honestly just really good. My friend ordered a Paper Plane, which she loved. For bites, we shared the chicken nuggets with caviar (yes, nuggets and caviar... and yes, they were delicious) and the lemon garlic shrimp, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Everything we ordered hit the mark. Prices are about what you'd expect for K Street and the overall vibe. Think $20-$25 cocktails, $20+ appetizers, and $35+ entrees. Portions, both drinks and food, lean on the smaller side, which is probably the only thing that might make you pause and wonder if it's slightly overpriced. ‍ Service Service was great. Our server checked on us regularly without hovering and offered helpful suggestions when we asked. Everything came out timely, and we felt taken care of throughout the night. Ambiance This is where Proper really shines. I walked into a cute, ground-level, dimly lit lounge with an opulent bar and a man playing the piano, which set the tone for the whole evening It felt upscale but still welcoming.
