As part of La Concha, this reached the La Concha high standards. I had wonderful heart shaped lobster ravioli in a tomato cream sauce. I had a Negroni to drink which was made properly and I was very happy about that! Had yummy chocolate cake for dessert which satisfied my incessant chocolate craving. Beautiful ambience. The bartenders were very attentive. Had the Alla Pancetta pizza. Spectacular! The locale is an open space but manages to keep a cool "indoor" section without the use of doors, which I think is genius. Great service, beautiful interior design and excellent cuisine! Delicious Italian in San Juan! We were a family group of 8 and were treated so well from the minute we arrived. The food is EXCELLENT. Like the kind of excellent where you can't wait to go back. I've been to Italy and the Italian here rivaled some of the meals I had there. Cocktails, fab, Burrata - delicious, pizza - just like Italy, the lobster tagliatelle- to die for. When it comes service you would think it would be the number one objective for such an up scale restaurant. Well let me tell you we have gone here a few times last night the service was awful. The waiter and managers never apologize for the food that was not given correctly from the xtra dressing to no sauce on the pasta. We ordered rounds of drinks and they never removed the empty glasses we had to ask. They had no clue how they should have serviced paying customers. We have come here at least 4 times a year for the past bunch of years... we were here 3 weeks ago, my friend orders an amazing dish called BRESAOLA but they didn't bring out the dressing that it says it has..he asked the waiter to get it, the waiter argues saying that it's on it.. friend says please may I have more.. we go last night he orders it again, guess what no dressing again he calls the waiter and he says I remember you I told them to put double..but again he needed to go get the dressing... you should not have to argue...I hate when people talk down to you.. read more

I went here on Saturday around 6pm and I didn't even get to try the food. The bartender refused to give us a food menu because "he was too busy". We asked if we could order a glass of wine from him and he said "Ask me in 10 minutes, I'm busy." We left immediately. We were here for a late lunch and so it was very quiet, but everyone was friendly and service was fast and helpful. We ate outside where flowers and greenery made it inviting. Most importantly, I had the best thin crust pizza I've had in a long while. One of the top 3 ever! Perfectly done. I kept it simple with a margherita pizza, but asked them to add some blue cheese, which they did. We went for the premium VIP with the imported mozzarella. My husband was wanting something with meat, but he agreed this one was great! I wished we had time to go back for another meal there. The Italian pastas sounded fabulous. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had. I had a chicken pasta with mushrooms and peas. The sauce was creamy and delicious. My sister loved her gnocchi pesto pasta. The best food so far in Puerto Rico. The clams in white wine were spicy and loaded with garlic. Amazing! I had bronzino with tomatoes, potatoes and a delicious sauce. The sauce was white wine, and the taste from the fish, tomatoes and potatoes cooked together. The fish was not over cooked which it has been everywhere else. It was out of this world. My husband had pasta with sausage and broccoli and loved it. We ate there Sunday and are going back today, 2 days later. I can't wait to try the Mahi wrapped in potatoes. read more

I have to preface my review by saying that their sangria was delicious. I thought I was ordering baby clams and linguine. I received good-sized clams, not baby clams and they were over cooked. The sauce was tasty but it was a little sparse and the oil and balsamic dipping sauce had rancid garlic oil and came off as bitter. Their creme brûlée was delicious. The prosciutto crostini appetizer was the best part of the meal along with the "passion" drink. Then we waited for over a half an hour for basic pasta dishes to arrive. My limoncello bow tie pasta with shrimp had no lemon flavor at all. It tasted more like Alfredo sauce with a strong shrimp flavor. Server was very inattentive. We had to ask for cheese and pepper service when our food arrived and the wine we ordered when our food arrived didn't come to the table until after we finished eating and we had to ask a second time about it. Our meal here was shockingly bad. I'd like to know what everyone else was ordering to warrant such glowing reviews, because they couldn't have had these dishes. One aspect of our dinner was so disappointing that I must put it at the beginning of this review. As I was finishing my rather horrible soup (more on that below), I felt something tough and stringy in my mouth. I pulled it out to find the two-inch strip of plastic that was hiding in my soup. I don't even want to think about what other inedible things I already inadvertently swallowed. I alerted the server who cleared my plate, who apologized and promised to show it to the chef. She came back to tell me that the manager and chef were dealing with it. Imagine our surprise at the end of the meal when we found they had the gall to include my plastic-containing soup on the bill! We hadn't complained about anything regarding the taste of the dishes, which I explain below--it's not the servers' fault that the food is mediocre--but we did politely mention that we were surprised to have been charged for that order of soup. Our server immediately offered to redo the bill and remove my soup. He, like the rest of the servers, was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Our criticisms are of the food, not the service. First, the bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was excellent and we polished it off quickly. Unfortunately the second basket they gave us was cold and untoasted. Two of us opted for the special soup--roasted tomato. The soup we received at first was barely lukewarm, so we asked for them to heat it. They brought us second bowls very promptly but the soup was, frankly, horrible. It tasted like a mouthful of creamy saltwater, and not even a bit like roasted tomato. Surprisingly, all our entrees were severely under-seasoned and lacking salt. The pesto in the portofino pasta was very bland; we could hardly taste the basil. Its only redeeming quality was the generous amount of pine nuts. The pasta of the ricotta and spinach ravioli was tough and chewy--not at all tender. The filling was bland and contained hardly any spinach. The truffle risotto was, once again, poorly seasoned and lacking salt. It was practically congee. To have been one of the most expensive entrees on the menu is just insulting. Lastly, the steak was average but the fries that accompanied it were most certainly from frozen. Who would have expected frozen fries in a restaurant this pricey? The one decent dish among the seven we ordered was the carpaccio. It was delicious--an aberration amidst the rest of our lackluster meal. Lastly, besides the food, we were not impressed to find the bathroom rather dirty, with puddles and wads of toilet paper scattered on the floor. This restaurant is quite expensive, and for these prices I expect every item to be excellent. Only one dish met that expectation; the rest were, at best, well below average or, in the case of the roasted tomato soup, downright gross. How disappointing! read more

Where to start! I went with a couple of friends the same day they open, August 19, 2015 for lunch. They did a good job in the decoration. The menu looks really good, but, unfortunately we didn't have the pleasure to taste most of the appetizer because they didn't have it. The service was slow. Mix ups with the drinks. The beer was room temperature (we are in Puerto Rico and the temperature is 90 degrees). And this was acceptable because it was the first day. The worst part was when we order the check and we pay it!!!! Tip included!!!! We said that the amount per person included the tip. I was the only one that paid with a credit card. When my slip arrived, it was the amount indicated to the manager (he took our check with the money and my card) that everyone was paying with the tip. When we are leaving the restaurant, the manager (we assume it was him because the way he was dress) stopped us as if we had not paid the bill and ask us if we are going to leave a tip for the waiter. We told him that as per our instructions the bill was paid in full, including the tip. The manager went back inside to look up for the money, that according to him, the waiter still had in his possession and came back with less money that we had given him. We count the money again and gave more back with the same instructions. This is no way to treat anyone. Even though the service was bad, we did leave the waiter a 15% tip because we understand that when a restaurant is beginning, slow service and problems with the order comes with the territory. But the attitude of the manager was way out of line... When we were leaving we were saying that we will give the place a month or two to come back because the menu seems good, now, with this experience, I will have to think twice. My group of friends are foodies and love to try new places, this one is on my bottom list. Sadly because I have been in the one in NYC and everything was great. this has to be the worst hospitality group on the island. i come from ny and go to all 5 star restaurants and the amount of errors and lack of communication was horrific. we place orders. they come back 20 min later. "no more tuna. no more lasagna. no more pasta." are you kidding me? then you need to beg for water (3 different employees) then no water. we asked for bread (we are 4 having dinner). they bring a 10 inch segment of hard bread. we asked for vinegar and the waitor drops the bottle and smashes it on the floor. do i need to continue ? ok. i will. the salmon was raw in the middle. they ended up giving us 20% off the bill because of their lack of competence. i think david burke or jean georges' would have puked in their face. end of story. do not go. trust me. i lived in pr for 2 years and thought this might be a nice place to try. even i make mistakes. read more

Good morning. I was there last night with two friends and had THE WORST experience ever. The entrees we originally order were not available on the menu and after compromising and ordering our second choices the waitress returned 25 minutes later to tell us that NONE of the items we ordered the second time were available either! She didn't offered any remediative action, so we call the manager. He came and told us that we were not the only ones that encountered this problem and when we ask for some form of compensation for all the trouble he questioned the time lapse of not being notified of the lack of entrees and sarcastically laughed and walk away. The food arrived and it was average at the best. The waitress had no idea how to open a bottle of wine, so my friend kindly train her on how to do so. It is precisely this lack of training and organization that is palpable during this time of opening for this restaurant. I will be patient and wait 2-3 months until they get their act together...but the manager NEEDS TO GO! These are tough economic times and I cannot believe somebody is so arrogant and ignorant to not listen to his customers or take care of them when him and his staff have made a mistake. I had the Filet Mignon Burger. This was actually the best burger I ever had in my entire life. The only problem I had was with the Super Bright headlights blinding me to the point that my right eye got sore. The lights come piercing in from the driveway of the hotel. They put a barrier to block that at night, it was really annoying. Bad design. Next time I'll during the day. Lol read more

Vegetarian review: We ate here at 11:00pm on Christmas Eve shortly after arriving in Puerto Rico. It was one of the only close places open. The waitress was fantastic, as were the cocktails. Food was served quickly but all around was mediocre. Flavor was lacking. I went to this places since I liked the Serafina restaurants in the states. This one has a nice atmosphere but the food and service are pretty disappointing. You're better off going to places like Bar Gitano, Ropa Vieja or Oceano nearby. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I understand this is a new place but wow just wow. We had better service at the Denny's down the street. We had a group of 7 and we arrived around 6:45pm. The place always seemed busy so we wanted to check it out. I wish we would've checked these reviews first. Start by being told we have only a 30 min wait. 35 minutes later we check in and are informed that it would be another 45-60 minutes. We of course called over the manager who grabbed us a table in 5 min. There were a few large tables open this whole time. I now know why they weren't being filled. Start with the server. She basically watched us sit not saying a word then handed us menus. We had to ask for water, she filled the cups up halfway and got attitude when we asked for more. Again we waited a while so we were thirsty. I ordered a coke as did another girl and it took about 30 min for us to get them. Small tiny glasses again of course so finished quick and it wasn't until we complained we got more. Charged for both. Food-she wasn't excited when we had questions about the menu either. My order and one other came out correctly but Luke warm. My friends mom ordered a simple pizza it came out early and was cold. Sent that back. The steaks ordered were rubber and one was grey almost as if it was boiled. The other steak came with fries instead of the requested potatoes. Any those back. My friends pasta was the wrong sauce. They doubled one other order. And my friends godmothers pasta tasted like ravioli from a can. When we spoke to the manager and the miserable experience while giving back food he tried to tell us he was bringing in 35k a day and they weren't prepared for such volume. That was so rude to bring up and had no relevance to the disgusting service and the bellow par food. I would've much rather eaten at McDonalds. I come from the service industry so I know mistakes can be made. But these were just beyond mistakes and flat out inexperience. He was a pompous a hole and his sever had a like attitude. I will never return to this place and the guy who brought this restaurant there needs to know how horrible this place is being run. It will not last another two months. read more
