Had a fantastic experience here! Came in after walking along the adjacent Animas River greenway. Great variety and selection of beers, including ones that can not only be harder to find, but harder to get right...they got all of their beers right and I highly recommend the Helles & Kolsch & Gose (the pilsner malts make all the difference if you, like me, are not usually as Gose-style drinker), as well as doing a taster sidexside of the Hogsback Black and LowFlow Stout (both on Nitro when I went). Tho the absolute standout for me was the Upper A Imperial Red! Staff is great, friendly and even the regulars will have beernerd level convos! Food is also awesome! They serve Pasties (pronounced "pas-tee") here...if you don't know what they are, they are basically caucasian empanadas and can go savory or sweet. I ordered FOR THE BIRDS "Beer roasted chicken, applewood bacon, potato, carrot, scallions, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. We had our two small dogs with us so we were directed to their pup friendly seating. They have a small table and some half picnic tables out front that are shaded for a good portion of the day. I wish they had been a bit further apart as there were others that arrived with their pups and it bunches everyone together. All the dogs got along, but it was crowded. We had a server that came out and gave us info on what was currently on tap as well as the food menu. I chose the Low Flow Nitro Stout, my husband had the What's Up Wit. My daughter went with water. For food, she and I both ordered the Banged Up Pasty. I must say, I was excited to see a place that has a whole section of Pasties, they are not something you find everywhere but a favorite of our family. The pasty we selected was flaky crust filled with mashed potatoes and bratwurst. It came with gravy as well as grainy mustard. Delish!! My husband went with the Fish & Chips. They did not disappoint. Excellent! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was wonderful. My bacon burger was cooked well, and the bacon was the perfect mix of savory and crispy. As a railfan, I have the say with maybe some bias, the location right by the train bridge over the river is amazing, and it was super helpful for a quick meal between trains. Beer is really good, but service is inconsistent. The Lost Souls Lager is our favorite beer of the trip, and we've got lots of four packs in the fridge right now to prove it. We ended up eating here tonight. Cheese curds are ok, yet a little rubbery for my taste. My wife liked her shepherds pie pastie, while I wasn't wowed by my Dip in the Animas pastie. Crust was fine, but the filling left a little to be desired for me. Service was friendly but lacking at times. This was our first time here. We drove up to visit the campus at Ft. Lewis. A friend had recommended this brewery to us. So we headed here after the tour. The parking situation is a little sparse, but there is a park across the street and you can park there. This place seems like it could get really busy at times, but thankfully when we got here for a late lunch, it wasn't. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the scenery. The hostess at the front, handed us some menus and informed us to come back up and order when we were ready. We decided to try out the brew house pretzels, made in house and soft. These were good. They served it with their corner pocket dip and their brewers' mustard. My family ate it up before I could even enjoy one whole piece. For our entrees, we decided on; dip in the Animas. Which was a pasty called Dip in the Animas. This one had roast beef with peppers, onions and swiss cheese. I loved the horseradish sauce it was served with. Very flavorful. Also purchased some of the burgers as well. The JW, had beef and smoked brisket. It had a flavorful BBQ sauce included as well. It was tasty! The other was the Reub, which had beef and fresh corned beef. It was topped with beer kraut, swiss cheese and thousand dressing. It was devoured. All the entrees we had were good. 4 of us stopped in to have lunch on Saturday at about 1 pm. The service was fairly prompt. However, the food was super slow in coming out. After about 20 minutes server came back and said to me the kitchen made a different salad from what you ordered. He asked if that okay can you just have that one. I replied with No! That salad has nuts and I'm allergic to nuts. They proceeded to make me a new salad. However, both my husband and his friend got different meals than what they ordered. Only my friend got her correct food. 1/4 meals correct. Thats pretty awful! And no offer of any compensation! Horrible customer service! Won't go back!! read more

Animas Brewing Company is one of our favorite stops when we are in Durango! So even though COVID has changed a lot currently we had to grab a to-go order of their delicious pasties and beers while we were in town! All dine in is currently closed and they cannot sell beer after 8pm, but as long as you're prepared and know what to expect you will have a great experience! You can order in person or over the phone. You can enjoy a beer outside while you wait for your food order. They have a good variety of craft beer options and a delicious food menu. We had three different pasties during this trip and all three were delicious. We had the no meater, the Irie, and the Dip in the Animas, with the last being the most delicious. They package the orders well done travel and include napkins and utensils. One of the best things about this place is the atmosphere. We are so looking forward to life resuming to normal to enjoy the full experience here. Quite apparent nobody who works here or owns Animas owns a dog - this is the farthest thing from dog friendly I've ever seen. I was extremely excited to try this brewery. First stop while on vacation. The beer wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I didn't hate it but didn't want another. You order at the front counter and they eventually bring you your food. (They ask where you're going to be sitting). My Boyfriend and I waited for over an hour for our food. I got the Harvest Strawberry Special. It was extremely under whelming. The spinach was warm, the strawberries were warm, and not very much dressing (the dressing wasn't bad). The guy who took our order tried saying they didn't have the salad. We pointed out that it was on a chalk board right by the door advertising it. He called out to the kitchen staff and asked if they had strawberries. They confirmed they did and he then added it to the order. My boyfriend got one of the burgers. He ate maybe a third of it? Said it tasted like a frozen patti. I can't say as I didn't try it. (It didn't look very appetizing. Over all, I truly wouldn't recommend. The place wasn't very busy, but we felt a little ignored at the bar as the bartenders offered people with full glasses a second round before coming to us. Needing a little snack to tide us over, we ordered the pretzel to share. Now I'll preface that we're big pretzel people and have had our fair share of them to compare. In our option, the pretzel sticks themselves were very good, but the sauces could use a little work. May be a party of 2 over here, but sweet mustard is always such a disappointment. We want that Dijon or spicy mustard with a little kick to it! Unfortunately, the cheese wasn't much better, kind of mushy and little flavor. First off, the location and parking situation suck. There are maybe 5 parking spots for the brewery. If it's a busy night plan to park and walk a few blocks away. Or just don't go, you're better off. Secondly, this place is not dog friendly. This has got to be the only place in Durango that does not allow dogs on their patio. And lastly, I stood in the entrance next to the sign that says "Please Wait To Be Seated" for over 10 minutes and not a single staff member acknowledged me. I turned around and left after that. Went there on 9/19/21 for lunch. We very excited to come here after looking at their menu. When we walked in they are opened tables and decent size patio. So you have to wait to get seated but then you have to go back inside to order everything. Then they ask where you are sitting. So you have to give them the area where your table is. We ordered the boxcar red, which was more of a hoppy red. Nothing special at all. For food we ordered the Pastees. When they came out we saw they were hand pies. We ordered the Irie and Banged Up. We asked if we could eat outside on a near empty patio and the hostess wanted to seat us at a round table that didn't fit our family since we needed a high chair.
