When I was 8 year's old back in 1996 not yet 9 year's old. I wasn't as aware to the importance of…read moredying and honoring the death of one. At this age, I thought about my own past priorities never being late to school, being a friend protector, and other things that young mind's think of when they're young and their mind is still fresh. My grandmother use to walk me or drive me to school. She started driving me to school when her feet started swelling up really bad. In an unexpected panic myself worrying about being late to school didn't think of the thought of my grandmother's fall at the front screen door pulling the front screen door with her as she fell to the floor. She got up and walked to the bedroom where I sleep now. She laid in the bunk bed's that we had at the time when there was 7 of us living in a two bedroom house sharing one bathroom. I remember her trying to die at home. My grandfather was born in the 1800's when the western dirt road's and train track's existed. He spoke pure Spanish but actually understood English. He would mumble to me jokes in Spanish and he would laugh at me when I would try to understand and repeat what ever he said in Spanish. Although, I never caught on to learning his Spanish. My father came from a family of seven learning how to survive for himself while his father was a doctor. He went to school to learn Electronics, worked at several airplane companies, joined the military and made it a career for 22 year's, and worked at another aerospace company for 20 year's just before getting sick. His father had been a doctor during the Holocaust. His father had to use his doctoring knowledge to prevent himself from being taken to the gas chambers. He befriended the Germans and was lucky. He saw when the families were being separated and forced into the gas chambers. I would have to say that I'm half like my father more for thinking of the most important priorities to be done first. I learned what it's like to have to save money when money is tight and doesn't seem right. I think that I would be a good provider and a trustworthy person having experienced and seeing a lot while I was growing up. I started attending Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead when I was in my early twenties traveling on the Montebello 40 bus that would leave me in front of the Montebello Mall, then I would take the Montebello 70 bus that would leave me off right by the cemetery. I didn't have the best equipment at the time, nor did I have the money to really buy the flower's. So, I would attend to the grave yard with what I had to clean around the graves of my grandma, grandfather, and now since for four year's now my father. I had to organize a routine that would help me finish a grave faster. After I would finish. I would just sit on the grass for a real long time in deep thought. I have developed my own set-up of decor to leave at each grave and never come back for it, some skill's, a routine that work's, and my own assortment of tool's through out the year's that I have been attending the cemetery for my three loved one's. I love going to the cemetery and having the feeling of peace with myself. But, what I don't appreciate is the desecration of my three loved one's head stone's that were never scratched until now . Please grave yard maintenance worker's. Please be more mindful to our dead loved one's grave head stones. You would not want the same for your loved one's. A second would be some of the security guard's that act more superior than their pay grade and power. Would it kill you to show us some courtesy and respect. Some of you will walk up to me because I look more masculine than anything though I'm 100% by birth female not by transformation and tell me that I need to leave. You will threaten me like ICE threatens immigrants. And, the third would be to the visiter's like myself that attend the cemetery caring these big lawn chairs, big ice chests, and have children that they can't control running around the grave yard like a park. I have a deep appreciation for all the loved one's buried any where and everywhere. Be mindful when laying your gear out to make camp at your loved one's grave. Try not to step on grave stones as well place unnecessarily item's on other loved ones grave stones to use as a table. I enjoyed my day on Saturday, 05/16/2026 when I came to the cemetery and the cemetery was fairly filled. The cool afternoon air felt exuberant. I was able to tend all three graves fast enough to still have time to take in the beauty and time to have a moment with each of my loved one's.

Noticed upon arrival that the front office reception has been remodeled which was nice. However,…read morethree staff members sitting at front counter, you could tell none wanted to get up and assist us the minute we walked in. Acted like we were bothering them instead of being attentive to what we needed assistance with. They should've upgraded their website or added a self service kiosk aiding those needing help to find a service &/or grave. Forrest lawn gets a hand of applause for have this option available on-line including a map of their grounds. If it's such a bother please add this feature for people to use. I bet if we would've inquired about purchasing property their tune would've probably changed. So sad esp since this is a Catholic Cemetery. Do better Resurrection Cemetery & actually help those who walk into the office seeking assistance!!

It is never easy to lose a loved one. Our loved one passed away in our home, as they had wished,…read morewhich meant that we needed to make arrangements and could not move forward until a funeral home came to our house and helped us with next steps. Likewise our kind local sheriff needed to remain with us until someone arrived. Originally we contacted a funeral home in our area that is well known. We were given an estimated time of arrival of "within the hour." When that time came and passed I called and was given the same estimated time of "within the hour." When I was on my third hour of waiting with our loved one still on the floor where we had tried CPR, and the kind sheriff, patiently waiting, I began to call other funeral homes. I left a message at 2 others then on my third try I contacted "A Serenity Funeral & Cremation Services" and Daniel answered the phone. Despite having a busy morning right from the get-go he was kind, compassionate and forthright. He let me know he was having a busy morning and would do his very best to get there within the hour. He arrived within 30 minutes along with another gentleman. The compassion, tenderness and grace that they showed our loved one and to us, who we're newly grieving was an answered prayer. They reverently allowed us our final goodbyes and had no problem when I wanted to include a special blanket to wrap our loved one in. Daniel sat with us, answered questions and patiently walked us through the process. The kindness and care that Serenity Funeral and cremation services showed us should be a model for the industry. When we finished all the paperwork we realized that "A Serenity" was actually a fraction of the price of what we were going to pay with the locally touted company that continually told me it would be "within the hour." I highly recommend a Serenity Funeral and cremation services. While death is a part of life Daniel from Serenity made us feel as if the loss of our loved one was the most important thing in the world at that moment ..which for us it was. Thank you Daniel. There's a one way very narrow road, but sometimes cars go in both directions. It's a smaller and older cemetery with all plots of land already occupied. It's not the most maintained, but it's great for what it is. The center does have a nice, clean shrine for prayer and burning Heaven money, and there's restrooms near the entrance.

To Karen T's review, I approached the groundskeeper, Tony, to fill in some holes at the base of my grandparent's headstone (soil erosion). He very willingly obliged since he looks after the cemetery. I asked him if those were his tools along the shrubbery, and he said yes (they were your typical gardener's tools), but I did not ask him about the draped Dodger's shirt or pants, or grey jacket on 3 of the tombstones. The clothes appear to have been left there for quite some time, and perhaps even by the family member (?) themselves. I scanned the rest of the cemetery for homeless, but there were none. Only Tony looking after the grounds. He informed me that the gates open at 8am. Noticed the lettering for the Chinese Cemetary outside the the main gates (both English and Chinese) had fallen off. I'll let the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association know http://en.ccbala.org/home/common/fdi The grounds looks trimmed and weeds pulled. I'll be back to clean my grandparents headstone, fill in the faded lettering, and seal in the stone. It's the least I could do.
