They have a wide array of drinks, wine, a few beers and assorted cocktails. The staff is very friendly. They also server some tapas and small plates. The only redeeming qualities of this bar are the service which was good the particular night I went, and the ambiance is ok. Otherwise the food is the worst I have probably ever had in the city. The bread tasted stale, the burrata was tasteless, the flatbread was dry and flavorless, the meatballs were very obviously frozen (spongey, watery) and honestly tasted terrible, even the sauce was awful. It was SO overpriced. I know restaurants are hurting right now but when I'm spending my hard earned money on unpleasant experiences like this it really makes me feel like I am being robbed. read more

I've gone to this place twice. The first time I chocked on a piece of wooden cooking spoon then the restaurant tried to make me pay for the dish. A friend convinced be to go back again. We both ordered salads, hers with chicken mine without. They switched our order and instead of making new salads scrapped the chicken off mine and put in hers. My salad was hot, cheese melted and pieces of chicken in it. When calling the restaurant they cannot answer simple question. read more

My friends and I wanted to try out a new wine spot near the house. We're a big fan of Kurant but wanted to spread the support, especially during this new age of the pandemic. Unfortunately the service was lacking. Upon our arrival they were quite strict about having us order food prior to ordering wine. While I understand that this is a rule all NYC restaurants must abide by, I felt like more of problem child than an adult ordering a glass of wine prior to our meal which had been the norm for so long. They offered no happy hour specials and I believe 2 app items on their menu were out of stock, definitely the Marcona Almonds, which we didn't know about until we tried to order. Ultimately, the food that we did order & receive tasted good. And the gal serving us eventually treated us like the adult women we are, by offering us another round of wine after our meals were done. read more

Very cute, French themed wine bar on the upper east side. I enjoyed all of the food and forgot to take any photos because I came straight from a workout class and was STARVING! Needless to say, the food did not disappoint. They have a great selection of wines by the glass, which is always a plus in my book. I don't like when there are not enough wines to choose from by the glass. Anyway, I asked the waitress for her opinion on the Cabernets and she suggested an excellent one. They have lots of variety in their dishes. Options are good for sharing as well. Went with a friend and together we split the burrata appetizer, caesar salad, and prosciutto flat bread. I had brunch at Serena's Wine Bar Cafe, and I enjoyed their $16 Fresh Burrata Mozzarella and their $10 American Breakfast. The service was okay. When I say that the service "okay," it usually means that the workers meet the lowest standards to keep a job. They weren't rude, but they weren't welcoming either. It wasn't busy at all, but for some reason, we had multiple people waiting us. When the female comes over, she highly recommended their chocolate desserts ... we asked if it comes with ice cream and she said, "No, but we can add a bit of ice cream on the side." So my boyfriend and I went ahead and ordered it. When we received our chocolate cake and ice cream, she literally added "a bit of ice cream on the side." The bit didn't even look like a scoop... it looked like "slices" of vanilla ice cream... like the ice cream was scooped without any depth. Ah! What the heck. She was sweet enough to add some ice cream... the highly anticipated $7 chocolate cake tasted like it was ordered from Entenmann's. Then we got the bill. We got charged an additional $7 for the slices of ice cream. We asked the waitress if the scoop of ice cream was a full serving (like if you ordered an actual ice cream dessert, was that the amount of ice cream you'd get). She said yes. We paid the bill. Lesson learned: ask how much it would cost to add "a bit of ice cream on the side" at this place. read more

My boyfriend and I went for dinner and drinks this week and were underwhelmed by the food (other than the tiramisu, which was delicious). The wine selection is relatively good but smaller than you'd expect for a wine bar. Prices per glass are pretty average for the city. Ditto to all of the great reviews. Serena is a gem -- exactly what our UES neighborhood needed. Everything executed flawlessly and friendly. It's pretty rare for me to so highly recommend a place with such a spotty food menu but this wine bar is a cut above the rest in terms of ambiance, drink choices and location. Located right at 66th and 2nd avenue, it's the perfect place for a drink with friends. The restaurant has a spacious interior but still gives off an intimate vibe with its candlelit settings and dark wood features. In warmer seasons, the windows are wide open to let in fresh air and there are a few outdoor tables. The noise level isn't so loud that you'd have to yell into your companion's ears but loud enough that you feel comfortable to have a lively conversation. The servers are also efficient and thoughtful. The drink menu is diverse with many different choices of wine, beer, and liquors. My favorite is the white sangria, which is sweet, refreshing and easy to drink. It doesn't pack a huge punch but great for a low key night. The sangrias unfortunately are only offered in the spring and summer. Happy hour also has great drink deals. On to the only real gripe I have with Serena's - the food is lackluster and almost crushingly expensive for the low quality. I've had a few different dishes like the flatbreads and the pastas, which were all relatively bland and lacked any finish. For example, the spaghetti bolognese arrived with luke warm and generic sauce and all the noodles broken up. While the food was most definitely edible, there seems to be an extraordinary mark up. The spaghetti bolognese in question was $19. The other food items aren't much better and still very expensive, even for the Upper East Side. Overall, Serena's is a perfect wine bar for drinks but I would definitely go grab lunch/dinner before heading over. read more

I've lived in the same block as this place for over 5 years and I would like nothing but to really love it because I love the marble walls and tables, the small outdoor seating area in the summertime, the wine selection... service however sucks. Their food isn't the best but it isn't bad, I actually really like their tuna melts. Staff is not really helpful, don't even try to up sell, they ignore you while they seat at the bar or eat in the back. I've been here a few times but the last had been by far the worst. I came over with my neighbors for dinner and not only did they not tell us kitchen was closing but also they never refilled our water glasses or offered us dessert or more wine. My rights were completely stripped away from me at this restaurant. As a person who suffers from mental health I have a emotional support dog, who also has a service dog license, who helps me get through the day. I have been to this restaurant without my dog before and honestly, food isn't bad. I don't tend to bring my dog to restaurants on days where I feel well. Unfortunately, today, May 24, 2019, I didn't wake up felling very well (mentally) so I decided bring my dog along to lunch. Even when the service at this restaurant has been poor in the past, today's service cannot be expressed with words. It was extremely windy even the menus were blew off, so we requested to sit inside. The waitress rudely told me no, that no dogs were allowed inside, only service dogs (although mine is)! I told her that my dog is a service dog and has a licensed and she proceeded to ask me for it. This is COMPLETELY ILLEGAL under ADA Civil Law! I was going to show her the digital licensed that I received from the NYC Department of Health, she saw me pull out my phone and said it would not work, I told her I had the physical license card at home and that I was willing to bring it, and she added "yeah, that doesn't work either, he needs A VEST". I asked to speak to the manager and he was even more rude, came out and didn't even let me speak and simply said no because my dog didn't have a vest. I told him "In that case, give me the check and we will leave! And your phone number so my lawyer can give you a call". Are the people from this restaurant this ignorant? Anyone can buy a service dog vest on AMAZON, but not anyone can get an actual service dog license! To make things even worst the manager refused to give me the restaurant phone number!!! Loved everything about this place, except for the fact that our server failed to inform us they had happy hour specials going on. I ended up finding this out after visiting the restroom after our meal and seeing the happy hour deal sign on the bathroom wall. Not exactly a class act. We passed this place on the way home, it wasn't packed so after a long day why not. Wine prices per glass are on par with the city and the neighborhood. Spent the afternoon at this spot. At 4pm I was the only customer - not surprising since NY'ers hadn't gotten off work yet. Decided to try an appetizer and a cocktail. Got French Onion Soup and glass of Amaretto. Combination might not sound great but actually it was quite nice. The soup was pipping hot with fancy bread crackers - just right, and of course Amaretto is always good. The service was pretty good.....the only issue was 2 hours later when I was ready to leave my server disappeared. Not a big deal maybe she had a long day. I dig this place. It's a wine bar with small eats (meat & cheese platters, panini, bruschetta, salads, desserts). Small enough that you won't be competing with the dinner crowds for seats. Not only that, it's got the great dim-lighted feel and you can feel fabulously classy while drinking your wine and speaking in an indoor voice (what?? I hate yelling over wine). The prices are very reasonable (8-12$ for a glass, 34$+ for bottles), this place has just become my new go-to meetup spot for wine on the upper east side! read more
