Once again visiting Westchester for Thanksgiving and once again trying one of the local restaurants…read moreon Thanksgiving Eve. This time, we came to Rye Grill & Bar. They set us up in a large private room on the second floor. It was a spacious and comfortable setting, big enough to give the kids space to run around and quiet enough to let the adults hear each other talk. Our server quickly took our drink orders, then we settled in and perused the classic American menu. For appetizers we had chicken wings, potato skins, and meatballs. All of them were great, but the real standouts were the entrees. I had a blackened monkfish special. It was truly a gem of a dish. The monkfish was nice and light. It paired beautifully with the mango salsa, sautéed spinach and jasmine rice. If they can reliably source the fish, I'd recommend that they make it a permanent part of the menu. Overall I highly recommend Rye Grill & Bar. 5/5

Seats were hard as heck wood and mighty uncomfortable The food was--overall, mehhh First the potato skins were minuscule, Lilliputian and almost not even big enough to be considered bite sized The Caesar salad was...hmmmm, Ho-hum with fresh and crisp greens, ample if not generous Parmesan and tasty albeit stingy portion chicken. I tried the steak tacos and this was a fumble. Bland steak, miserly portions and soggy soft shell. The raviolis were a tad undercooked but really tasty. The sauce had a hair too much red wine but the taste as still very good and the portion rather admirable. I'd order it again. The Apple blossom desert was amazing. Dough was slightly and pleasantly sweet and the apple was caramelized and tender. So.... Food was a solid 3-4 The service a gentleman's C in or 3 The comfort and ambiance a 2

In my opinion, this place blew it. They really blew it. I would never trust them to host an event for me. Not a communion--nada...nunca. In short, Apawamis rhymes with can't-stand-us-- that's all you need to know. That's how I felt. In my opinion: They. Just. Didn't. Care. They screwed up every aspect of this occasion. Let's start with the facility and logistics. The attendee tables were much too close together. The food stations were too near the tables. Also, the stations were not professionally set up and assembled in a haphazard and happenstance sloppy way. No decorations or signage so you had to guess what you were gulleting [sic].Honestly, I've done better with home kid's birthday party spreads. I felt bad for my friend. The roof sprung a leak and it was actually raining on the party and it's guests!!! I had to go track someone down since my buddy who threw the party was busy looking for someone to turnover the tables and remove the salad plates and fill water glasses. Poor guy couldn't enjoy the event. The facility party supervisor was no where to be found for most of the party. My friend told me their name and I went on a hunt to tell her the tables needed to be turned over and the serving stations attended to...and I was told they were busy attending to another party in the facility. Literally, my friends party-- to me-- was like a driverless car careening out of control. The timing of happy hour, salads, table bread, dinner and dessert was--in my opinion, at best--haphazard and seemingly left to rank and file staff that were way too few in number. It was a pernicious kerfuffle. Those that were there worked super hard and with tons of heart functioning sans a leader most of the night. They were heros. The facility and the manager of the event were not heros--from my vantage point, they were the opposite. The food I tried was average to poor. The beef and brócoli was rubbery/tough and soggy respectively...and disappointingly bland. Yucky. The steak station had creamed spinach and hash browns that--in my case--were milky/cold and greasy/cool respectively. The steak--at least what I tried--supermarket quality, dry, tough and tasteless. Why would they serve me shoe-leather tough well done meat? My friend (the host) tried some off my plate and clandestinely expectorated it into a napkin. My friend was so upset but said to me that he had nobody to complain to since the facility host was nowhere to be found and that, given it was mid party--there was nothing they could do anyhow. The Italian station--in my case--had pasta that was undercooked and the chicken parm was not right. The chicken--at least in my case--was not pounded, too thick, and the breading poorly adherent to it. There was too little sauce that was under spiced. It was beyond rescue--no matter how much parmigiana cheese, salt and pepper that I haplessly and generously applied. It was a sophomoric mishmash. The tiered dessert assortment plates were almost ok. Some pieces were cold and all tasted like they came from a Costco variety pack. Nothing special. In my opinion, this was bad, really bad experience for the guests that numbered well over a hundred. I have my suspicions as to why this country club handled this specific sort of event the way they did, but I'll keep it to myself. Suffice it to say--if you don't want to handle these sorts of events in a professional manner--then don't accept the job. Shame on you Apawamis (you-can't-stand-us).

I'm a tough critic, having worked in restaurants for a decade, so take this seriously: the service was impeccable and the food was perfect. The dining room is lively -- yes, it's noisy -- but that energy comes from a full house of happy diners, which tells you everything you need to know. We started with scallops: buttery, golden-crusted, and exquisitely tender. I had the veal saltimbocca -- one of my favorite dishes anywhere -- and Sergio's version is by far the best I've had. Dessert was a Basque cheesecake with a perfect balance of texture and sweetness. In five years, I have never had a bad meal or a lapse in service here. It isn't cheap, but it is absolutely worth every penny. Ignore the haters.

They also offer an enclosed atrium area, which seemed like a quieter option--but the heat was a bit too high for us, so we chose to sit inside. It was quite loud, so next time I would try the atrium area near the entrance for a more comfortable noise level. One of the highlights right away was the complimentary antipasto: a nice plate of mixed cheeses, olives, and sliced salami, along with a basket of bread. The thin, crispy salted bread was seriously addictive--so good! Paired well with our Aperol Spritz. We started by splitting the fried zucchini flower blossoms stuffed with ricotta, served over tomato sauce. You get two per order; they were good. For entrées, my friend ordered the Pollo Fino--strips of chicken breast topped with asparagus, shrimp, and mushrooms in a white wine citrus sauce. It came with four jumbo shrimp, and she said it was incredibly good. I had the Pappardelle alla Boschiola with prosciutto di Parma and green peas in a pink sauce. It was a generous portion and very tasty. I later noticed the menu included mushrooms, which didn't seem to be in my dish, but I did not catch it at the time. We finished by sharing the Napoleon dessert--my friend had raved about it. The flavor was good, and our server nicely split it for us, but the pastry layers were quite crunchy, making it challenging to eat. Overall, a fun atmosphere with tasty food. They have a big parking lot offering valet service.

Horribly distracting. The WORST place to stand or sit near if you're in the back of the Orchestra (latter rows)! Two, if you sit along the left wall (Orchestra), there is an alcove of sorts closer to the front of the stage. There is a TV in there (WHY, I don't know!), that is left on during performances. If you're in seats along the wall, you 'will' be distracted from the glare of the television light (as I recently was back in Row N!). Lastly, lobby bar prices are INSANE: $38 for a single serving CAN of wine and a single serve bottle of Prosecco. We had just come from a very nice restaurant and paid well less than that for quality!

I fell in love with the historic Capital Theatre the minute I walked in. Just a spectacular old building. While the show we saw, I won't say who, wasn't the greatest concert in the world the sound production and sight lines made for a really pleasant concert experience. Oh, and I should mention that the parking was a piece of cake. The reason this venue only gets three stars is simple: the bartenders were massively over serving. This was by far the drunkest crowd of concert-goers I've ever been in. It was literally unsafe. The venue gets props for having gender neutral bathrooms...they just don't have enough of them. The lines were nuts and for this show there were booze-fueled fights happening while you were waiting to take a leak. All in all, not a great vibe.

We celebrated my son's 3rd birthday here today and what could normally be a stressful day for most parents, ended up being such a breeze!! From the start, before the big day, communication was clear and we were given exact pricing. I went in a few weeks before the big day and the manager (?) was kind enough to give me a tour and a rundown of exactly how the time would be spent. For the first half hour, the kids have free range of the jungle gym area, that reminded me of Discovery Zone from my youth. The next half hour was spent in a separate room that had trampolines, rock walls, swings, bubbles, balls...it was kid heaven. Keep in mind our group had age ranges from 1 all the way to 11, and everyone seemed entertained! During the whole time the staff was super attentive and assisted any of the kids if they needed help. The last half hour we all moved to the food area that was decorated so beautifully, where everyone enjoyed the cake and food and again, the staff was super on point and handled everything. They served the kids food, they cut and served the cake, and they cleaned up when we were done! I can't reiterate enough how efficient the 3 women were! I 10/10 recommend Kids U for any birthday parties you may be considering. Thank you guys, so much!!
