I came in for a cappuccino and the server had no idea how to make it. I should have just stuck to ice cream, but why serve espresso based drinks if staff is not trained to make it? I saw the kid push a button and clear brown water came out into the cup. I asked for him to throw it out and make a proper espresso and he responded "that's what I'm doing". 2nd time he tried to correct it but the machine filled the cup 3/4 of the way with gross watered down coffee. He clearly had no idea what he was doing. Pretty annoyed that I paid for something so terrible. The server had an attitude because I corrected him, but he needs to stop his entitlement and listen to customers. read more

This is a great location you would hope they appreciated it but you can tell they know there is no competition around because the costumer service is awful. Ice cream is good. Regular, nothing sets them apart. These are the kind of places you hope exist, but assume have been driven out by the pink mangos and crazi berries and skinni serves. What I'm trying to say is that Serendipity Ice Cream Parlour is the real deal. Screw the calories, every bite is 100% worth it. Sundaes, shakes, malts, floats, brownies a la mode, it's all there and it's all amazing. Sure it was built in the year 2000, but to be fair they did restore an historic building originally built in the 1800s. Plus not only is their ice cream delicious, but it's all for a great cause! With it's old fashioned decor, outside seating and plethora of ice cream and smoothie options, Serendipity will pull a heart-string of yours. They love to delve out samples, and since Tillamook Ice Cream is always coming out with a new flavor, this is an awesome option. Wait, why would anyone need a reason to try free ice cream? Sample your heart out, kids. My brother informed me the girls who work here are cute as a button and as sweet as the ice cream. I think it was just the girls reacting to my hottie little brother :] Fresh fruit is offered daily as well, and I mean FRESH fruit! Strawberries are in season right now - and would taste amazing in a smoothie, but you can put them on top of your ice cream, over a sundae - anything. The most impressive thing about Serendipity to me is the way that they support local causes and local people. The server that took care of us had developmental disabilities and he was hired purposely and doing a great job. Posters of local events and fundraisers are plastered all over the walls and windows. Sometimes when I want to find out what's going on in town or who is going good things, I just cruise down to serendipity and check out the walls. :) The ice cream is delicious too. Anyone who serves marshmallow sauce definitely gets my vote. It's warm inside. The lights twinkle. The servers smile. The player piano works overtime. I love it. 5 stars. read more

This is a charming ice cream parlor serving up Cascade Glacier ice cream in ginormous scoops. My first visit here fell on the second Tuesday of the month when they support a local organization. Since 25% of my sale was going to support the local Friends of the Library organization, I ordered big. I went for the "large" bubblegum ice cream in a bowl, a bottle of Dad's root beer, and three freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The large ice cream was way too big for me! It was two gigantic scoops and I was only barely able to finish one of the scoops. I love that it was served in a glass bowl on top of a paper doily. What a nice touch. Unfortunately the piano wasn't playing, but I still enjoyed settling in at one of the old wooden booths to people watch. I am trying the first of the three cookies as I write this review, and I have got to say it's yummy and chewy the way all cookies should be. Fabulous. While Cascade Glacier isn't my favorite brand of ice cream, I would absolutely return to Serendipity for it's old-timey atmosphere and great cause. read more

I ate two scoops of ice cream here (sweet black cherry and caramel praline) even after downing a huge burnt end sandwich, a side of their Flaming MOFO sauce, and a side of slaw at Ribslayer. While driving through Mcminnville I stumbled upon this place. Ok, ok...the ice cream radar went off and I was drawn in. So glad about it! Serendipity is a fantastic, old timey ice cream parlor. Great, paired down selection of flavors, prices are spot on and the customer service is great. Portions are HUGE and the child size is more then enough to satisfy an adult size craving. Another bonus was the jars of 25 cent old fashioned candy. And yes, we stocked up. I hope everyone checks Serendipity out so this place stays in business for ever, its such a gem! read more

We are new to the area and tried this place out with our two amazing kiddos. The staff made us feel unwelcome and inconvenience for them. They didn't offer anything or any specials or even just giving the kids a friendly hello. Not the vibe we were looking for from a local ice cream shop. According to Yelp, they were supposed to close at 8pm, but they have the doors open and the ladies here still have a line of customers and it's almost 8:30 pm. That is great customer service, and they gladly will give you samples if you are unsure of what flavor(s) you'd like. I was traveling through McMinnville and was in need of lunch. I stumbled across Serendipity and it was truly a gem! They have a lunch special of $6 for a bowl of soup, a large bit of cornbread (honey, salt, pepper, and butter served with it), and a scoop of ice cream. The serving size was perfect, the food was excellent. Also too, the service was amazing. The guy who waited on me was kind, conversational, and charming.
