I LOVE this place Even more now that I have discovered ANNA!!! She is amazing. She worked out knots that I didn't even know were there. She was firm yet gentle and applied just the right amount of pressure. Anna's technique is what I am EXACTLY looking for in a massage therapist! I love deep tissue work in general, but she does some sort of very precise and deep finger movements and pressure points. It's very focused on very particular muscles and nice and deep but in a wonderful way! It felt SO GOOD during and after!! I have been looking for a great facial in the area for a long time since Tropez closed in Framingham. I went to an aesthetician in Hopkinton and ended up with red raised welts from the products and bleeding cuts from her dermablading my face. I just had a wonderful facial here at Richard Francis with Mariana! I came away relaxed, my skin smooth and refreshed and feeling so happy I have finally found the perfect place and Mariana! They truly know what they are doing and are very professional and talented. Highly recommend Richard Francis- they are also fairly priced vs big salons who are way overpriced. Not a great experience. People were not friendly and made for an uncomfortable appointment.

I had a $50 gift certificate for an aveda salon and chose Richard Francis as it was the closest to me. It is very hard to find. Even my GPS didnt find the right location. I had to call the store and get help. It's in a kind of out of the way small strip location. I was greet friendly but then told that the stylist who was going to do my hair could not because she didn't know how to use clippers or do men's cuts so I was put with someone else. The stylist was quiet yet friendly and did an amazing job on my haircut. It looked very good actually. The salon is small and not decorated as nicely as you would think an Aveda salon would be. My haircut came to $25 and I gave the other $25 from the certificate to the sylist. She never really even said thank you or anything like that. And I was not asked if I wanted to book an appointment or anything. Overall I felt like I was bothering them by coming in and needing to get a haircut. Maybe it was because I had the certificate. I dont know. The stylist did a great job overall, but the atmosphere of the place makes me not want to go back. read more

I had the Groupon for the Richard Francis Spa and booked a hot stone massage (willing to pay the additional amount over the groupon). First of all, let me tell you that Mary provided a very good massage. The massage was nice - unfortunately, in no way was it a real hot stone massage. I've had several hot stone massages - which are my preference because the stones help me stay warm during the massage and when done right the warm stones placed strategically throughout the massage make it very relaxing - and instead this was a regular massage where once in a while a luke warm stone would be used to rub a muscle. I don't know if the "not groupon" hot stone would have been better with maybe someone who specializes in it. When I was greeted (not by Mary) - it was in a very small entry foyer and I had to sit several minutes into what should have been my massage time while the worker handled the transactions of someone leaving even though I had been there for quite a few minutes. It was obvious that she was the only person that could handle payments and appointments, while also working in one of the treatment areas. I was asked to pay ahead of time because she wasn't sure if she'd be available after my treatment to be at the desk. I also provided a 20% gratuity for Mary (ahead of time) based on the full price of the massage, I hope that she got it. I definitely felt like I got the "groupon treatment" even though i was paying extra for a treatment. Additionally, the massage room was exceptionally brightly lit when I entered and undressed but the lights were turned down once the massage started. Finally, and it is a preference again - the massage table wasn't warmed and Mary had a small table fan blowing in the room. Add in the unwarmed massage oil (which was dispensed from a large gallon jug on the floor which I could hear clearly when it was "pumped") - I was essentially cold the entire time. Unfortunately, although a local resident to Ashland and sometimes client of the salon, I will not revisit the Richard Francis Spa and have already mentioned it to several of my friends. read more

Had appointments for my wife, daughter, son and myself but after the disaster that was my son's haircut we decided to go elsewhere. He has had better cuts at Supercuts than here and the stylist not listening to what the customer requests is a huge problem when it comes to cutting hair. We will be going elsewhere for our hair and my son will have to wait for his hair to grow back out before it can be fixed by another stylist. read more

Note: This review is for the Spa at Richard Francis, based on one visit. You should introduce those stress-induced knots in your back and that old back sprain you've been carrying since winter of '98 to Anna. Anna is a sweet Russian lady who will make sure you suffer a little bit in the short term to clear the problems in the long term. If you just want a massage, you will just get a massage. But if you want therapy, you'll be thankful to her for a long time. Go see Anna, withstand a little pain against those tight spots, and you'll feel the difference. I've been going to Richard Francis Salon for years and have had a great experience every time. I always get exactly what I'm looking for, and always get input of what will "look best" and I always come out 100% satisfied. They've done my hair, and sometimes make-up for all my special occassions. I even brought in a picture for prom and my hair ended up looking exactly like the magazine. I've had my hair dyed, highlighted with added low-lights, and it's always come out looking amazing. People actually think it's my natural hair. I've recommended my friends and everytime I get a coupon for my next visit. My friends love it and I get a discount, it's a win-win situation. read more

After being fickle and coming and going to many places, I have been coming to Richard Francis salon for at least four years. Why? Because it is friendly and professional, and Diane does a consistently great job with my color and cut. I have had nightmares elsewhere in terms of my color getting too dark and then they didn't know what to do about it etc.! I have been completely happy going to Diane. What more can I ask? Why look elsewhere? They use Aveda products which are gentle for the hair and skin, They are very personable and seem to remember names of people that come in, and I think Richard can be very proud of what he created. I believe he treats his staff well or they wouldn't stay this long so credit to him. I haven't had any other beauticians but I do see their work as I am there getting my own hair done, and every beautician seems excellent. read more

As someone who gets cut and color monthly, I can't say enough about this reliable Aveda salon. All natural color by Aveda is great for your hair. A spa with full service is an oasis. I visited this salon with my daughters. The woman at reception who is also is a stylist was rude and unprofessional. I was waiting at the reception desk to ask a question and when she looked up after I was waiting to be helped, she told me "to take a seat." When I told her I had a question, she again told me to take a seat. I don't understand why anyone would put her at reception. She was at the front desk again when I came in at a later date to purchase product and she was rude again. I have not returned and now purchase my Aveda products elsewhere. read more

I've been having my hair cut by Lynne for I don't even remember how many years. She always does a fantastic job. The staff at Richard Francis are always pleasant and courteous, even if they aren't the people you usually deal with directly. I don't know what the other person was talking about with it being hard to find... It's RIGHT on Route 135... I don't know how it can get much easier. I tried this place twice and wasn't impressed. 1) I paid way more than I expected to. Maybe it's me but I really dislike places that charge extra to dry your hair. I have paid much less for much better service at other salons. 2) During one of my visits, my entire cut took place at a station that hadn't been cleaned after the previous customer - their hair was over the floor and counter. Gross. 3) I was on time for my appointments, but had to wait 15 minutes at one visit and 20+ minutes at the other visit. I was also kept waiting between my color and cut. read more

I was scheduled for an appointment for which I called on 5/16 and specifically asked for the first appointment of the day for my stylist since they have run well past 30 minutes over my appointment time. When I arrived with my two confirmation e-mails that both showed my appointment time as 8:45 am I was told they had my appointment at 1:30 instead of at 8:45 am. I was not going to be able to reschedule but instead of accepting responsibility and taking me since I definitely arrived first the salon management decided not to push the other patron off but put me off. I had received a gift card for mothers day so I asked for my money back but they could not cooperate since I didn't have the card as it was a gift. I was eventually given the option to see Diane as my stylist and she graciously fit me in and did a wonderful job on my partial foil and cut but the simple fact that ny appointment was not prioritized was unacceptable. I have been going to that salon for over 7 years and I can sat with certainty that I will never ever go there again. There is a lack of appropriate management there. The simple fact that appointment can be allowed to run over 30 minutes behind is a clear lack but I could even accept the waiting but to have not one single person in the salon speak to me about the wait especially my stylist when she is the reason for the delay is clearly the fault of management. This was the final straw for this business as far as I'm concerned. I do not go to the salon very often maybe 3 times a year so I guess I was not a priority. My final complaint is that once my appointment with Diane concluded neither my original stylist nor Richard Francis came to speak to me nor even offered me a discount not that I would have accepted since Diane definitely deserved to be paid. I have never posted a negative review before but I am extremely unhappy with what happened. It is really to bad too because the stylist do a very good job if not a bit slow. read more

I got Groupons for my daughter and I to the spa. While I was getting my Vitamin C facial I loved it. There was much massage including arms, shoulders, neck, and scalp. My daughter got the less expensive deep pore facial; they both took the same amount of time, which seems fishy, but maybe I had more expensive products used. I felt so relaxed and content during and after my facial. For some reason the esthetician did not clean off the final mask from my face, so I was picking white bits off for a while. The worst part was later that day and the following couple of days. My wrinkles -especially around my eyes seem more prominent. I know that facials are not miracles; they don't eliminate all wrinkles, etc., but to appear more dry and damaged is distressing. read more

I got my first ever facial today with Harlenne, and it was amazing! It was so calming, and she was able to relax me instantly. She is an absolute sweetheart and truly spoiled me with this spa treatment. I have been going to Richard Francis Salon for years to see my hairstylist Renee. My husband now goes to see her too! She is fantastic. I am so happy that I have discovered all that their spa has to offer as well. I love how warm and inviting the staff at this salon is. First I was greeted with a friendly smile by the woman at the front desk who requested I fill out a form about my hair, then I received a complimentary chair massage because I was early. Diane greeted me next and we discussed what I would like done with my hair, she made some suggestions which got me really excited about my cut.
