The best thing is the proximity to Mammoth Cave. We stayed in the Garden Room and enjoyed the private balcony, especially at sunset. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed good, hot coffee in the mornings. The environment, though, was not as shown in the photos. The house is extremely cluttered and somewhat strange, with collections of items displayed virtually everywhere. The furnishings are a bit shabby, but generally clean. Breakfast was sub-par. Fruit was good, but pancakes and pre-fab waffles, unappetizing sausage, and some kind of baked oats mush was just not appealing. The owners are very nice and accommodating, but we would not choose to stay here again. It is the closest to the cave, though, so worth considering for that. read more

My boyfriend and I were traveling to Brownsville to pick up a car. We had no idea where we're going to stay and only found this place 20 minutes before our arrival. When we pulled up, the owner was on the porch welcoming us into their home. The dinner was finishing on the stove, and the house smelled wonderful. The owners were very welcoming; I felt more like a family member who needed somewhere to sleep while in town than a guest. We chose the most significant room with the best bathroom ever. The owners had a mini-fridge in the place with complimentary drinks. They had wine for purchase, but we had brought our own. I like how the owners didn't mind us bringing our own. They have a beautiful fire pit in the back of the house. The owners offered to light one for us, but we were just too tired to enjoy it. We did, however, appreciate the bed; it was the most beautiful bed I have ever slept in. The linens were like what a penthouse suite would have. It was incredible after a long drive. We had forgotten everything at home, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. I had no razor, and I was not looking forward to sleeping without brushing and shaving. However, to my great surprise, ALL THOSE THINGS WERE THERE! I was so shocked and relieved. The next morning we got a knock on the door for breakfast. The most fantastic meal was on the table from the freshly cut strawberries to the homemade omelet. I felt again like a family member coming to visit. We walked around the property, and it was beautiful! Every one of the birdhouses had baby birds in them. The porch sits among a picturesque front garden. The little details all around show a lot of love is invested there. We had to leave that morning, and I felt like again, my family was sad. I had to go and want us to come back. The owner stood in the window as we drove off. I will be back to bed and breakfast. My boyfriend and I after being introduced to B&Bs with such a positive experience have decided to not stay in chains ever again. I know why this is a 5 star place and will stay that read more

I stayed here last weekend and everything from the room to the owners to breakfast was 5 stars. I had read reviews prior to booking so I anticipated a great experience, but the attention to detail was better than I had expected. Rick greeted us upon our arrival (it is literally right next to the park's edge- maybe 15 minutes from the visitor's center) after a day of cave tours and showed us the living/dining space and our room (where Stephanie had homemade cookies waiting for us). We stayed in the Garden Room upstairs and it had a beautiful view. The bathroom was large and had plenty of towels and toiletries. The room (and whole house) were so clean. We were able to watch the sunset from the porch as their view is panoramic from the top of the hill, and enjoyed some snacks from the dining area and drinks (bring beer etc with you as the county is dry and there aren't many places to purchase things close anyway. they have a fridge to store your drinks!). Rick showed us the options for dining and recommended 440 Main in Bowling Green. The square in Bowling Green was cute, the meal was delicious, and we even went a couple blocks over to try a new brewery, The White Squirrel Brewery, that Rick suggested. Then, we came home to a quiet house and comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. Stephanie made a fruit salad with honey and granola, followed by a frittata with mushrooms, asparagus and turkey bacon (I don't eat pork and they were more than accommodating), then the meal ended with her homemade banana bread with a delicious glaze. The guests sit together at a kitchen table for breakfast and it was great to meet interesting people and enjoy the food and coffee. I can't say enough about how quaint and comfortable Serenity Hill is. Rick and Stephanie have thought of everything and make the stay even better. They definitely go above and beyond. One of our tires had gotten low driving to the park and upon our arrival Rick noticed and offered to fill it with compressed air he had in his garage. I would recommend staying here to anyone within easy driving distance for a simple/relaxing mini-vacation or to anyone looking to enjoy the park as I am not sure if you can get more/a better experience for your money. read more

Richard and Stephanie are awesome and Serenity Hill has the most comfortable beds I have slept on. We took our 2 kids and had 2 separate rooms with a bathroom in between for under $200 per night. What a deal! Food was great. Very close to Mammoth Cave. read more

We were guests during the new owners' second week. Beautiful, comfy room with a wonderful view (Garden Room). We had an early reservation at Mammoth Caves the next morning and they were very accommodating about making breakfast early for us. We were able to have a hearty and tasty breakfast to fill us up before a 4 hour underground hike. Location is really close so that was an easy drive. Only stayed one night because we were road-tripping, but will stay there again if we are in the area. Loved their pets! read more

I can't say enough about our stay at Serenity Hill. I came with my girlfriend from Chicago for a weekend to skip forward to spring a few weeks early, and the area was really beautiful. The bed and breakfast was unbelievably clean. We had a big bright room with an amazing view of the beautiful Kentucky hills. Each day for breakfast we were served delicious three course breakfasts and were baked homemade cookies. This was my first time at a Bed and Breakfast and it really exceeded my expectations. When I return to Kentucky, there is no doubt where I will be staying. read more

We only had planned to stay one night, but I wish it could have been longer! The owners are the nicest people, extremely friendly, and have an amazing dog, Oreo, that I wish could have stayed in the room with us! Breakfast was a feast, fresh fruit with honeyed granola, an asparagus frittata with hollandaise, and freshly baked banana bread. Richard and Stephanie have perfected the art of bed & breakfast hosts. They are low-key, professional and friendly all at once. Their home is impeccably maintained inside and out. The rooms are very pretty and extremely clean; the grounds are beautifully landscaped; and breakfast was generous and absolutely delicious. Amazing first time B&B experience! I wish we had stayed longer than one night but we were just passing through with a quick visit to the park (which is conveniently close by). Rick and Stephanie are very welcoming and keep their home clean, cozy and comfortable. The views from the patio are beautiful with comfortable seating to enjoy them. We stayed in the Heritage Suite as the other rooms were booked but it did not disappoint. The bathroom was more than big enough, clean, updated and plenty of toiletries. The bed/linens were top notch, incredibly comfortable. Oh, and homemade ice cream. You will never want to leave. If you are passing through or looking for a place to stay during your visit to Mammoth, Serenity Hill is a MUST. read more

Beautiful setting, home, & rooms. Private bathroom. Hummingbirds abound. Owners were super friendly & accommodating. Breakfast was delicious & homemade cookies were awaiting our arrival!
