I do NOT recommend this place at ALL. First, I am a gay male, the second I walked in I know they were judging me. I asked for a black matte nail with a SIMPLE pride design on both of my tinder fingers. What do you notice is missing? The matte on half my nails AND the pride design. The lady couldn't do the SIMPLE design and it kept wiping off. When I went to pay, they refused a refund and I was stuck paying $30 for something I didn't even like. I told her to not worry about the design and do the black matte. She could barely even do that. If I could give 0 stars I would. Secondly, the place is unsanitary. I'm not sure why this place has such low ratings because I had a wonderful experience. I made a last minute appointment on Friday morning for that day. When I got there they took me right away. They had a great selection of gel colors. The nail tech was efficient and did a great job on my nails. At the end of doing my nails she gave me a much needed back massage that I didn't want to end. She massaged my back for at least 5 minutes. I would definitely go back here! read more

My rating is really 2.5 stars. This salon is okay, but the prices are kinda steep and they don't have good color selections for gel nails. Also, they only have ONE nail tech who can do nail extensions. I got gel nail extensions on Saturday, January 12th. The nail tech, Amy, explained to me that regular polish would be $50 and gel polish would be an extra $15 so $65 altogether which to me was ridiculous. I've never paid more than $50 for gel nail extensions. Fast forward, I paid the $65 plus a $3 tip because Amy did such a beautiful job. So $68 altogether. While Amy was incredibly kind and gentle with me, she made my nails too thin because by the next day, I had already broken a nail. By Monday, three were gone and by Thursday, five. When the first nail broke off so evenly, I just figured that I'd save myself the trouble and just superglue it back on. Before I could do so, a second nail had already broken off while I was MAKING MY BED. I have never broken a nail not ONE time and I have been consistently getting acrylic nails since I was 16, I'm now 25. I called them on Monday and told the receptionist I needed my nails fixed and she told me Amy would not be in until Thursday so we scheduled me for a repair that day at 9:30 AM. She assured me that it would be free of charge as it should be. Fast forward to Thursday, I get to the salon and Amy blames me for the five missing nails. She first said, "Well, I told you to be careful." Then she says, "You got them too long." Please note that I didn't even get them nearly as long as I typically would have. She was just not taking responsibility for her work. She made them too thin. That's all that it was. It had nothing to do with the length or how heavyhanded I am. How heavy handed can you be while making the bed, washing dishes, or scratching your scalp?? She begins on my nails and calls over the receptionist. She asks her how much to charge for five broken nails and the receptionist says another $8. I told them to either fix them free of charge as I was told over the phone or refund me my full $68. No way I paid close to $70 and you expect ANOTHER $8 and I didn't even have the nails for a full week before they started breaking. She proceeds to repair my nails, but I can tell she's agitated about not being paid to repair them so when she's cutting them, she cuts them too short causing her to have to build the acrylic later on. As a way of making them thicker, she made my nail bed look like a hump/hill and the tips don't match. It's ridiculous! My nails look hideous, but rather than making a fuss about it, I just won't be returning. read more

I've tried to go here a few times and each time it has been a disappointment. I like my nails short but they aren't trained in how to cut short nails or file them. They also cannot cut cuticles well at all, each time there was almost no difference from when I walked in to when I left. But most importantly they do NOT sanitize their tools between customers. Not impressed. Against better judgement, I deviated from my regular salon because this one was closer to my home. I wish I could say I liked this place, but the service was seriously lacking. It was busy when I arrived, but I was taken to the nail bar to remove my gel polish after about 5 minutes. Unfortunately, that's where the great service ended. In all, I think four or five different girls did my nails. One applied the tinfoil to soak off the gel, another tried to scrape it off, couldn't, and put them back on. Then, someone else did come and scrape it off. After that, a new person started my pedicure (the only one who finished the job she started...and the only reason I have two stars- the massage was great), someone else game and prepped my nails, then left again. By the end I didn't know who I was going to have to tip. The worst part was no one told me anything! They didn't say "hello" or "be right back", they just kept grabbing my hand and doing a little work, then left me wondering. While all this was happening, the manager was arguing with his staff about who was going to do what. It was a mess. To top it off, my nails and toes don't match! Also, the bottles of wine you see in the pics are there, just don't expect anyone to offer you any. No one in the place had a drink....skip this place till they get it together. read more

Serenity is the only place I go to get my nails done! They make a point of being clean and constantly using disinfectant on their tools which is very important to me. I have been to other salons that have cheaper pricing but never disinfect their tools which is disgusting. I have had issues where my gel manicure peels after a couple of days but it is normally my fault from using my hands too much. They are always willing to redo any nail that has been damaged though! I recommend making an appointment because they are always busy during peak hours (lunchtime and right after work). They offer wine and water to all customers. If I could change something about this salon, it would be that I wish they had a larger selection of gel OPI polish. First time at this nail salon. We planned a bridal party here for 9 ladies. They were able to accommodate us all along with regular customers without rushing anyone. Wine and pizza was provided. I've been a patron here before they moved to their new salon. The salon/spa is very nice & clean. I mostly utilize the nail services. I love the ladies, they are really nice. They just need to improve their customer experience & not over schedule. Every patron should always have a great experience. Recently, unless I go at a very slow time, the service is rushed. The quality of paint job really varies from person to person. Often it chips within 2-3 days & isn't cleaned well off the cuticles. For the cost, the paint should last several days. Customer service is also lacking, I'm never offered a wine or hot stone massage any longer when waiting. Though the prices are higher. Additionally, I was sent a grand opening with specials including student discounts. Every time I go to us my student discount, they won't accept it...why the false advertising of specials. I've had a blow out once & the woman soaked my shirt, didn't return my hair clip & basically suggested a new less layered cut. I'll never utilize this service again. Overall, Serenity has great potential but just needs to work on consistent customer care & quality of their painting. read more

Serenity is a good place to go to if you want a treatment beyond a regular mani pedi. Their prices are high but you get the extra massage as a bonus. Other nail salons that are cheaper probably offer a better mani/pedi but without all the frills that come with the prices here. I've had 2 gel manicures here that chipped after a week and my mani that I got yesterday has already chipped. I had the best pedicure of my life here today. The lady really took her time, was thorough, & did a great job. Someone else was doing my manicure at the same time - It was just okay, but luckily the pedicure made up for whatever that lacked & in the end, both paint jobs were great. Really disappointed. I'm lazy when it comes to writing reviews, so you can tell I'm upset since I actually took the time to write this. My friend got me a gift card here a year back - I went and wasn't a fan. The place is clean and looks nice but my gel manicure didn't last more than a week. Flash forward to a week ago. I was home and decided to give them another shot (I normally go to a salon near my work). I paid $73 (before tip) for a french gel manicure and a normal pedicure. Even if I had a good experience - that's pretty expensive. It's now 1 week later and my gel has peeled on the sides of 7 of my nails. I can normally get 2.5-3 weeks on a gel manicure. And to top it off, my pedicure chipped as well. Never been more disappointed in a mani/pedi - especially for the price. read more

I had been to this salon a few times and my experiences were only ever 'ok'. The last time I was there, however, was the last time, period. I will say their nail technicians are incredibly nice to their customers but, on this occasion, there was confusion from the owner with my appointment. It was not honored and I ended up having to forego my manicure as I was there for nearly two hours before my pedicure was finished. In addition, the owner was blatantly rude to me in the middle of the salon. I understand bad days happen; however, yelling at and scolding a customer over existing gel polish is unacceptable. I should have just left once that happened and called it a day ... but hindsight is 20/20. Furthermore, while their spa pedicure is a nice touch, I feel they are very overpriced for an overall average experience. I recently went to Serenity Nail Bar upon recommendation of a few coworkers about how great this salon treats its customers. I unfortunately did not receive this service. I am a young African-American woman who came in for a gel manicure and pedicure. The salon is known for offering complimentary wine, champagne and back rubs while your nails dry. I was offered none during my time there. Meanwhile all the other patrons (who were all Caucasian) were offered these very same services. Typically I just leave a venue and vow to never go back. I went in for a quick Mani. As soon as I walked in, I already had hesitations. The idea of a nail bar is great, you get to chat with all the neighboring ladies and that was fun, as well as the free sparkling wine. However, in terms of quality, it was awful. My manicure lasted less than one week, cost me 22 dollars and was poorly done from the get go. This place is the epitome of the saying "shine your sh*t". I went to Serenity Nail Bar to get my nails done for my wedding. I paid for a gel French manicure which I was expecting it to last at least two weeks. I got it done on a Friday night and my wedding was on a Sunday. The morning of my wedding my nails already started to chip. I was very disappointed! Normally when I get gel manicure somewhere else it lasted between two to three weeks not 2 days. Last time I got a regular manicure that even lasted more than a week. I was very disappointed especially I paid a total of $73 for a gel manicure and pedicure which I think I got a regular manicure instead since it only last two days. My nails were messed up for my wedding. I will never go to this place again. I even took pictures to proved. I love, love, love it here. Best pedicure in Philadelphia. I was just raving to my husband about it after a poor pedi experience at a day spa. The pedi includes an amazing calf massage and a hot stone shoulder massage. It is heavenly. I've also had gel mania done several times and am always thrilled with the results. They last longer than any other gel mani I have had. I have never had a problem going at lunch time and getting whatever service I want done and have been offered drinks multiple times. wow, in reading the two negative reviews, I am laughing..... I go to Serenity every couple weeks and each time I go, its a great experience with their friendly, courteous, and gracious staff. I get mani and pedi's there. Even while I sit at the nail bar I hear nothing but great compliments by other customers to their staff. Definitely give Serenity a shot. The place is very clean also. Being its a busy place, I would suggest making an appointment, but I do see them professionally handle walk-ins. I've been a customer of Serenity Nail Bar for several months. I typically chose this salon because of their great service and care for their customers. However, I was at the salon this week and the service was sub par. The manicure I received was rushed. The woman who assisted me was more concerned with finishing the manicure than paying much attention to the service. When I would try to take a look at my nails to make sure they looked good, she would rush me to put that hand under the dryer and grab my other hand to paint those nails. I was disappointed in the lack of attention given to my service. I am hesitant to go back and spend money at this salon if this is the type of service they will continue to offer for their customers. read more
