Unfortunately, my experience at "serenity" was far from serene. I never leave reviews, as I like to give small businesses the benefit of the doubt. However, I am writing this immediately after ha ving my nails done in the parking lot outside (see photos) lest this happen to anyone again. I went in to get my natural nails shaped and painted with a clear coat before a date tonight. I didn't want gel, or really anything special- this is about the simplest thing one can ask for at a nail salon. The lady was nice enough, but she used a very coarse acrylic file on natural nails (a big no no, as it tears natural nails). The shaping is quite inconsistent- pointed on some nails and round on others. When she pushed back my cuticles and trimmed them, she CUT one of my fingers, and it began to BLEED. She disinfected it, and applied pressure (yay!), but it was slow going, so she decided putting ACRYLIC NAIL GLUE on my cut would make things go faster... of course none of the tools were disinfected in anyway after this... I came in looking to get shiny, shaped nails for my date tonight, and I left with rough, uneven nails with a large superglue-scab on my pointer finger. I feel like a fool to have paid $15 for this experience. read more

This place is very clean and I've had my nails done by 3 different people at 3 different times. EACH person did a wonderful job. I mean really wonderful. I'm extremely picky about getting my nails done, but haven't had any issues here. I've gotten regular gel polish on my natural nails. I've gotten a pedicure and toe polish. I've most recently gotten a full set with gel polish. Very friendly staff. Also, the DND DC nail polish brand lasted longer than any brand I've ever had used on me. read more

I have been getting acrylics done since I was in Middle School and I am now 20 years old. I have never had any kind of problems with acrylics. My normal nail salon was closed right after the 4th of July so I decided to go here for a fill in. I liked my nails and it was closer to me than my other nail place so I decided to go again for a fill after 2 weeks. (keep in mind, I never go more than 2 weeks before a fill) One of the nails popped off during the second visit and I noticed a bit of green underneath. I was concerned and the nail tech could tell and reassured me it was okay. He put on a new acrylic and filled the rest of the nails. I was a little bit worried but trusted that he was the nail professional and knows best. It has been less than two weeks and this morning a different one of the nails popped off and it is very green underneath. After taking off all the nails I have at least 5 with bad fungus. This is ridiculous and should never happen with a licensed technician. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! Again, I have never once had any type of problems when getting acrylics and have been getting them for years. read more

There was a younger guy that took my daughter, he was being friendly asked her how old she was and such. Well he ask me to turn around and look at the length of my daughter's nail for approval and he says "look she has stripper nails!" he thought it was funny but I didn't laugh and neither did the guy that was doing my nails! I chose 1 star, because that was the only way to proceed with this review! I scheduled an appointment with nail technician Jimmy. Does a pretty good job in pedicures. Because he's done good work in the past on my toes, I decided to schedule pedi and shellac manicure with him as well. He obviously didn't want to perform my shellac manicure. He skipped steps, did my massage standing to the side of my chair. I couldn't even rest my arms on the manicure table! Worst experience ever! I went to Hawaii after, and my shellac starting peeling around the 3rd day! Mold started to form under the shellac. After returning from vacation, I went back to speak to the owner, that was unfortunately on vacation. Jimmy said he would have to charge me for a full shellac manicure. I asked why I was being charged, and another young technician said, "Because I didn't come back when the peeling started". I explained, that I was still in Hawaii when it started forming mold and peeling! I left, because of the horrible service!! I will never return!! I am visiting in town and need to get my nails done and a pedicure. I phoned in advance to see if they have dip powder available and they did confirm they carry dip at the shop. I was able to walk-in and immediately they had me sign and I was escorted to start my pedi. My pedicure turned out great but I later found out they charge $20 extra bucks just for gel polish. Still seemed a little steep that's fine. It's time for my nails and we started out with musical chairs. I was sat in the first seat and then moved to another person who then moved me a third time because the second person forgot they had an appointment. I'm still okay but now the 3rd technician proceeds to file my nails and did not soak the dip polish like they are supposed to do. Then he doesn't even get the remainder of my glow in the dark color off my middle finger on my left hand. You can totally see the color coming through the new color after asking him to remove it. I will be in search of a new place when I'm visiting from Phoenix because this place will not receive another coin from me. read more

I arrived early because i didn't have an appointment. I had to wait a bit due to all of the staff not being there but Ms. Susie was the sweetest & she got my ingrown nail which was a SUPER PLUS! most people try to get it & get scared but not here she went for it & got it all! I was very happy about that! she also polished my toenails good & overall just have some a great pedicure. I'll be sure to be back everyone was sweet & welcoming. They are clean everything came out of sterile packing. I am so glad i came here it was a great decision. Today was the worst pedicure I have ever received here or anywhere! The lady cut my toes multiple times, and whatever she put on my toes before the polish burned sooo bad. Serenity Nail Spa is a pretty good nail shop for it being my first time. I use to live in Huntsville but moved away but my family still lives here, so I was home visiting. I needed to get my nails done and needed a shop to go to, so my little cousin suggested Serenity as she goes there. She called 20-30 min before we got there and made me an appointment with Bay. They booked my appt over the phone and I was set to come in the same day. I really liked this!! I also like that they have a lot of techs, nail and toe stations so even if I had to wait, it should have moved quickly. Bay was very nice. What I liked about her was she got me in and out and didn't take a lot of time. I had to soak off my gel polish and then I got a gel manicure. She listened to me in the shape of my nail and did them exactly how I asked her too. I really really liked this. I am very particular about my nail shape. The fact she did them exactly how I asked was a plus for me. Overall, I really liked Serenity Nails and will come back to Bay when I am home. She listens and is quick which I like. I have tried this salon multiple times out of pure location convenience.. however, after my last experience, it is not worth it anymore. I will drive an extra 10 minutes to a different salon. The woman who did my nails cut into my finger and made it bleed badly. She didn't acknowledge my immediate pain. The photo I will attach is as soon as I got in the car. I am now several days out from this happening and that wound is still causing me pain and discomfort doing daily activities. She did not even apologize!!! First time in my life I did not leave a tip. This was my final straw and I will not return. The technician also could not figure out how to make my nail shape rounded. So the lack of English communication is a whole different issue in itself. I tried to be patient in this area during past visits, but the injury I left with this time was unacceptable. Take your business elsewhere. I recommend Noire Nail Bar by Whole Foods. read more

I have never been more frustrated getting my nails done. I went to get my nails dipped for an upcoming event. The base polish bottle was glued shut from so Thuy, the manicurist, spent 10 mins trying to make an opening for it. Then proceeded to paint my nails with it. She had to force the brush in and it came out frayed which didn't work but she still kept doing it. I asked if there was a different bottle and she said no, which I found hard to believe.. It took her almost two hours to do my nails. I asked for her to stop and just take it off and she wouldn't. She kept saying "trust me it'll be fine". I went by here, without an appointment, because of how close it is to target. I was transferred to 3 different workers before someone kept me. The woman that did my nails left a lot of them crooked, and they were not filed down straight. I had to tell her to fix them and even after that they were still left not perfectly even. Just moved to the area, read a few reviews and decided to give them a try. I called to make an appointment and they gave me preference. I showed up right on time, picked a color and they seated my daughter and I, and got started right away. They do have a choice of pedicures, and the prices are average. I'm able to come after work because they are open until 7pm. I'll admit I'm thrilled that they warmed the lotion! My tech took his time, my pedicure was about 45 mins. They also provided my daughter and I with a complimentary bottle of water....they environment was very clean and relaxing. Wow this place was horrible.. The man that took care of me was rude and everything I wanted was upcharged. He was trying to charge me $5 for the shape of my nail and another $5 for the color that I wanted. I wanted a metallic color and he said it would be $25 extra. My girlfriend made an appointment by phone, and had mediocre service, the nail technician spoke in Vietnamese the whole time and my girlfriend felt very uncomfortable. Then afterwards, they gave my girlfriends phone number out unknowing to other solicitors. She had a dozen phone calls from spam phone calls from rude people at 11:30 pm at night! I do not recommend going to this location. Some of their prices are not included on their brochure. The technician continue to up sell product that we did not need. He also was not able to provide the services that we asked for. Specifically, we asked for coffin shaped nails and received horribly squared nails, with far too much acrylic product. Technician was unable to define the nails around the cuticle. Leaving that area way to built up. He was offended when I took the file and started to shape my nail myself. I was unable to achieve the shape that I wanted based on how he applied the product. He continued to change the price of what I was getting. Eventually having me to pay $60 for a full set of nails that looked like s***. This was not the only complaint. I also got a pedicure that look like a child did it. That technician barely touched my feet. If I hadn't scrubbed my feet before coming in I would still have dead skin on my feet. My daughter got a basic manicure and the lady chopped off all of her nails. Sanitation was questionable pricing with outrageous we were pressured when walking in the door. The service is bad, the technicians provide sub-standard services for todays industry. If you're looking modern nails, you may want to seek out another nail shop. read more
