Decided to pamper myself before my birthday so I came here. Upon arrival , I was greeted and sat down at the appropriate spot. I decided to get a regular pedicure (59.00) and gel nails (50.00-60.00 ish). The pedicure was nice and I enjoyed the massage . Now my manicure didn't come out that nice but it was still cute and I liked it. 4 days after I got my nails done, my pinky nail broke. 7 days later my middle finger nail broke. I have seen some bad ones and some so so places however that is all a part of the past Serenity Nails has really shown me what a spa is about! The staff is friendly and excited about their jobs, they get to create something new and pretty for each customer. They want you to relax and enjoy your time with them. If you don't like the color you picked out they will change it and not be rude about it! It is all about you there! Okay I really love this salon so it kills me to give a low review. Most of people there are so nice and are so friendly. But some of the workers there are really bad at doing nails. I asked for a mani pedi because my homecoming dance was coming up that weekend so I wanted acrylic nails. The guy who did my nails did nex gen and then used nail polish to do the designs I wanted and then put gel over them. I had to go back to days after he did them to redo one of my hands because the gel started peeling off really bad. Now the other hands gel has completely came off but honestly I don't care at this point. Serenity is really good if you get a good nail tech so I do recommend going here but make sure you tell them what you want and if they don't give you the right thing tell them. read more

So a friend of mine frequents this nail salon. She wanted a group to go together, because one of our friends had never had a pedicure before. I feel kind of bad that this was her first pedicure experience. When you walk in it is gorgeous. It has the look of an upscale place. It is adorned with gold fixtures and mosaics on the walls. It was packed. I walked in and told them I had an appointment. There are only 3 chairs for people that are waiting to be seated in. They were already occupied. I just stood there awkwardly waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. They never offered for me to sit at an unused spot or go ahead and already seat me at my pedicure chair. When our party arrived we were finally seated. I always get the deluxe pedicure (usually around $35) where ever I go. I like the paraffin wax. It makes your skin so smooth. I requested the deluxe pedicure ($43) and it did not come with paraffin or even a hot towel. I then was upsold to the organic pedicure ( has the hot towel, but no paraffin). The biggest difference I noticed also is that they only rubbed my feet for 5 minutes, usually other spas rub them for 20 min. The polish that they put on my nails was applied very well. They did a good job with that. The next morning when I woke up my feet were not soft and usually a pedicure will make my feet feel soft for the next week. They were hard and felt rough again, which tells me she also didn't take off all the calluses. So to break it down: if you want to pay more money, but get less services go here - you are truly only paying for the atmosphere. If you want to pay less money, but get more services go anywhere else. read more

This was definitely a rip-off. I asked for the pedi and mani with the most massage..made it clear massage was my main reason for coming, secondary was how well the gel nails would last. I bought the most expensive of both, and settled in to enjoy. Literally a 3 minute massage for the legs. Less for the arms. They rushed everything and acted like they did not care at all about doing a good job of either. Now, 3 days later I have three broken gel nails! I usually go to another salon but its closed for renovations and chose this as a quick last resort. Never ever again. With so many salons, pick one that does a good job. Even goes the extra mile. This last year I have been to some horrible nail salons. I finally started to get fed up because when I think I found the one that does everything perfectly, they change and my nails look like complete crap. Now, I'm a waitress so my nails have to look good 24/7 and I don't mind paying $35-40 for Nexgen but when they look like crap I get frustrated. My mom told my to try Serenity after her and a friend went. I was skeptical but now after going there 5 times I'm never leaving! This is the best nail salon I've ever been to! The staff is all very welcoming and friendly. They take both walk-in and appointment (if you want a specific staff member do appointment). Offer you a beverage and they all speak English. Now, it may sound silly but I think speaking English is big because I'm very specific about my nails and I like to be able to talk to them! My nails have never looked better! Thank you! read more

I walk in for a fill and they ask if I can come back in 30 mins. I let them know I want an acrylic fill and make an appointment for my sister and I. I come back for my appointment...1st thing said to me is "you dont want the dip" no i want acrylic. They continue.. I went in for a pedicure Monday afternoon. The place was not busy at all. They guy doing the pedicure hurt my toe. I told him that he was being too rough. He then started scrubbing the top of my nails with an emery. He scrubbed very hard and a braided my skin. I pulled my foot away and showed him my bleeding toe. He started scrubbing my nails again. I told him that we were done, put my shoes on and asked for the manager. I told the manager that the pedicurist injured me and showed him my bleeding toe. All he had to say was" no pay, no pay". Starting price for dip nails is great--but the quality of nails you are getting is insane!!! I've never had dip powder nails with tips last as long as a month and two weeks!!! YES! You heard that right. Not only that my nail tech saw that my nails were growing to a nice length and was still able to put tips on them while letting my natural nail grow. So I am not sure where to begin, but Serenity is AMAZING! I have been going here for 5-6 years and I just moved to McKinney 2 years ago. So I would drive all the way up here just for them. The staff is very friendly. They ask you questions about your life and want to know how things have been going. It is not like some places where all they do is talk in their language and it becomes awkward, because you think they are making fun of you. LOL Tina and Vivi are the absolute BEST! They always make sure I am happy. I love getting their signature combos, mani and pedi. It comes with hot towels, stone massages, citrus scrubs and hot wax. I have tried the organic, citrus, cranberry and today the pomegranate. I still think the Citrus is my favorite, it just smells so good! They never tried to up sale me on anything. I also took my bridesmaids and bridal party here last year and we all sat together and they made it really fun. They also provide you with drinks at no charge like water or champagne! Also, the atmosphere is stunning. It makes you feel relaxed and it is very clean. Oh, and if you become part of their email list, they send you coupons all the time. Why so many haters?? Oh I know, because you guys had women manicurists. Seriously, the trick is to get a man to do your nails. The first time I went here, I had a grumpy lady do my Nexgen. I came in asking for Shellac but got Nexgen anyway - despite her frowns - because I was happily spending my weekend getting pretty. I didn't think anything of it until I came back to handle the growth and the guy was like, "OMG that is THICK. Who did this?!" She wasn't there that day, but after he said this I vowed to only get the men. It's like night and day! The men are wonderful! I had every single person but one. My favorite is Frankie. He is quiet, expertly prettifies my nails, asks me why I love coconut juice so much, and sends me away. He does GREAT WORK and I am bummed that I moved out of McKinney. They have different scents for pedicures. I thought this was a marketing ploy but they really use a lot to make the scents last. I love that they also don't try to upsell you on anything. It's just - Oh ok, you want the regular pedicure? Which color? No 'you should get this, this is better.' No client shaming! In conclusion, ASK FOR A MAN manicurist - I didn't see a difference with the pedicurists. They are not easily affected by their day by wearing their expressions out. This place doesn't care about quality, they just want your money! I went in with my friend yesterday so we could get just a simple mani/pedi for prom coming up on Saturday. they ended up being about $80 total! We even used coupons. Granted, we got nexgen french tip, but its the pedicure that got us. When I went up to pay, I asked the receptionist to break my twenty into to tens, then give each of the people on my service a five. He broke my twenty into two tens, then was about to give each of them ten dollars! When i told him I actually only wanted to give them five each, he seemed a bit annoyed, as if the rip off $80 half-assed nails werent expensive enough. I've come here plenty of times and have repeatedly had bad experiences. If you're anywhere under the age of 20 or look like youre less than mature,BEWARE. My boyfriend and I were planning on getting a couples massage, mani, and pedi. When we arrived the guy at the front desk knew exactly who my bf was because they had exchanged phone calls to arrange a time for us to drive all the way from Denton to spend time TOGETHER being pampered. That's where I had an issue. At our arrival the guy asked, "who wants a massage first?" I asked if we weren't able to do it together. After all, this is why we came here for the COUPLES package. He tells us he only had one masseuse (even though he knew FOR HOURS we were coming). My massage was great. However, when I came out I noticed some of the techs hitting on my bf and giving me glares. I'm not a jealous person so I brushed it off, knowing he has no intentions with these girls. I just felt that it was very unprofessional. The ladies who did my mani/pedi were very sweet and good. Although I did feel a little rushed to be out (our apt was for 5 and a 2 hour service) because they closed at 7. I think next time we will stay close to home and save our $300 for a Denton business. People are much friendlier around these parts. Also, I was very upset by the fact that our quality spa day was spent apart and to top it off my bf got questions like "Are you happy with her?" from the techs. Really girls? Awful. I might go back and try someone different, but only with a coupon. This place is way over priced!!!! They charge $48 for French shellac and that doesn't even include trimming of the cuticles. When I went in I had a coupon with me and they seemed annoyed that I want to use it. It's a shame bc the girl who did my nails did a great job, but I will not be going back. This establishment has become a hurry up to the next customer...their talents, even my favorite artist are fast, sloppy and leaving my NexGens wavy, uneven and unprofessionally done. Too bad. Used to be a really nice salon. I found another salon. I'd give them a 5 if they would use a quick dry finishing top coat on their pedicures. I use nexgen on my fingers, so I don't have any finishing issues there. I get so frustrated messing up my fresh pedicure every single time because they refuse to use a quick dry when done. So THAT investment is wasted. Customers shouldn't have to bring their own products in a business that charges much already. That said...bring your own quick dry finishing and don't let them use their non-drying top coat. read more

I get my nails done frequently so I know how it is supposed to be done, and how they are supposed to last. My nails chipped within days, which Nexgen nails should not do. I spent too much money for the manicure that I received, and the tech who did my nails rushed like they had more important things to do. I felt more like a burden being there. Gel nail manicure. 30 mins/less... no tips or dips... was relatively happy with the service. Nicole was very gentle, and I came in with millions of paper cuts from work, so that was really nice. But then I saw a snag on my nail... something that is bound to catch on something and either pull a thread or start the polish peeling. Also, I keep my nails SHORT........ $35. Seems pricy.
