Start off by saying I loved Sergio's. Love coming on Sundays after church for the brunch menu. Eggs Benedict and Abuela French toast. However, quality has been steadily declining as of late to the point I stopped coming for an extended period. This was further reinforced on my latest trip. Couple things. A robot brought my order, which was cool at first until I realized my Benedict stack was toppled, no big deal it happens and still can eat. Greatest thing about benidicts is cutting that poached egg open and having ooze on everything. Well I got poached hard boiled eggs instead. Not the first time this happens either. we came to eat on December 26 around 12:30pm. As soon as we got there we were sat and told "we're running behind so expect a wait". Our server eventually came around to give us napkins and silverware, he asked if we wanted anything to drink and before my friend could finish saying water he cut her off and said water was on its way... we ordered 2 chicken soups for appetizers and tostones. I will not complain about the time we waited because they told us as soon as we got there that they were running behind, but it was honestly ridiculous for the amount of people there were. service - it was impossible to get our waiters attention, he was storming by us and we literally had to yell to get him to look our way and when ever we asked for something it felt like we were being a bother, i had to remind him about the water because it never came. then when he came to drop off some of the food we ordered i had to remind him about the soups ... he then brings the soup at the same time as our food ?? Not only that but one of the soups was COMPLETELY spilled (posted a picture) we sent the soup back and he also never brought the bread they serve while waiting on your food (we had to remind him of this) the food was brought out in a crazy order that common sense would tell you to wait. My friend got her food with no tostadas , we got our coffees at the very beginning so by the time the tostadas came it was ice cold, no one ever came to pick up our dirty plates / cups we literally stacked everything under the table to get it out the way. once we asked what the status of our tostadas was you can tell at this point he started realizing he was doing a really bad job because he then started interacting with us and apologizing for the delay. this was honestly the worst experience i've had at either sergios- this one and Doral. i totally get that it may have been busy but it's not fair we had our food given to us as crazy as it was and we all were really upset with the service because we felt like we were bothering our server. i am only giving 2 starts because i know the potential this place has but based off this experience, had it been my first one, i would never go back. read more

Food at Sergio's is pretty good. My friend and I stopped by after going to a work function. We were promptly seated and asked for our beverages. Thankfully, I was with my friend who spoke Spanish, or I would be almost dead in the water with my kindergarten level Spanish. I had the south beach omelet which is more similar to egg foo young than a traditional fluffy french omelet (which I actually prefer). The service was not bad but not great as well. Sergio is by far my FAVORITE restaurant! The food is DELICIOUS and the way their kind staff treat the customers is just unique. You can see as soon as you enter the restaurant that the management team is the best. The general manager is always on top of everything and Elizabeth already knows us (we go to the restaurant very often), she always greets us, she is a perfect combination of sweetness and professionalism. I give Sergio's high marks for providing a great atmosphere, Cuban focused food, a decent bar and bakery all under one roof. I especially love the cauliflower rice, which looks just like rice but isn't and is super healthy. I've come here with Fred and work colleagues on several occasions but this is my first review. On this evening, Fred had the fried pork chunks in mojo sauce with a side of boiled Yuca and small Cesar salad, and I had the La Flaca Palomino Streak. The mojo sauce was delicious and wonderfully spiced and went well with the soft succulent centers of the pork chunks. On the other hand the Palomino steak was a bit too well done to my liking. Though we decided against any alcohol, they have one of my favorite brews on tap, Lagunitas IPA. The restaurant also is unique in that they walked around providing enticing samples of wine. We tried a Chardonnay, which was offered with a free appetizer if you bought one bottle. We declined the offer but tried the sample. I'll be coming back again to Sergio's. Definitely a staple Cuban restaurant in Kendal. read more

Eh. How does a Cuban restaurant not have avocado? I mean I was starving but the sandwich wasn't all that. My prima ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a side of malanga soup which was featured on the pick two lunch portion of the menu. I was craving a club sandwich with avocado and a side of mariquitas. To be honest, I was so hungry I tore that food up but knowing that the quality has declined. The plantain chips were awfully thick which cancels out the crispy thin fresh ones us miamians are used to. I know the pan con bistec here is good and although I wasn't expecting the highest quality along with the most authentic taste, I just wanted a crunchy yummy sanguish, meng. At least we all know the coffee is always good. There's some things that are more recommended than others so if you got a empty belly and your craving Cuban food, just make sure you know it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles. read more

Came here for my birthday last week and loved it! Sergio's has a great atmosphere with charming decorations. Happy hour specials are good- I ordered Sangia for $5 in a cute mason jar and my husband got a draft beer for $3. Our server was pleasant but did take a while to come back and get our main order and wait on us. We ordered Sergio's Croqueta Platter (ham) as an appetizer- sooo delicious! Warm, gooey, melts in your mouth. The Vaca Frita I ordered was juicy and tender, and my husband enjoyed his pork dish, Masas de Puerco. Their plantains were perfectly sweet and caramelized. If I could leave no stars, I would. From the moment we were sat down the service was nonexistent. It took about 23 minutes for someone to bring us water and then another 20 minutes for someone to even attend us and take our order. The server was pretty rude and just threw our croquettas on the table which by the way we're extremely soggy and cold. I asked for a coffee as soon as she took our order and I didn't receive the coffee for about half hour after I ordered it. Once the food came out it was unappetizing and it looked as if it had been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time. After complaining to our server about the quality of the food, we decided we would just pay and leave and not eat the food, but the manager convinced us to stay and give them another chance to remake the food and offered to take the food off our check. So, we stayed and what a mistake that was. The food was ok, and he did not comp the food as he promised, he only took off $9 from the check. The point is we don't care for free food, but rather the quality for which we pay for. I'm other words, I'll stick to the one in Kendall because I'm never disappointed there. read more

My family has been eating at Sergio's for over 30 years. Since they refreshed their look and menu there has been some serious management issues at the Bird Road location. For easily the last 2 years there has been a constant shortage of Vaca Frita, Crema de Malanga, and even French fries. I attempt to order at least 2-3 times a week for Dinner and by 6pm they are out. What I can't understand is how management has failed to project sales and stock ingredients to meet demand. Just had a late lunch with my two kids and the service was spectacular! I was amazed by the attention that Maryanis, Ernesto and Armando provided.... These people were so at tentative to my kids almost as if we were family. My palomilla a la plancha was cooked to perfection with the sautéed onions and my kids meal was so tasty that I myself had to try it. The chorizo empanadas are a delight before any entree... looking forward to a weekly visit at the restaurant at bird road and hopefully get the same servers that made us feel like at home. read more

I would highly suggest never ordering for delivery from this location. They NEVER get the order correct and the order is always missing items. Whoever is supposed to pack the food before it leaves the restaurant is doing a horrible job. Eat there if you can, but prepare for slow service when you do. Great breakfast place, they serve breakfast all day for a $1.50 extra if you miss their morning hours. The pan con tortilla was delicious. The "South Beach" omelette form the Flaca portion of the menu was also a good option for the health nuts. It came with a cafe con leche. Overall a really great experience. And my mom ordered a Cuban sandwich. Ok Fine So we paid but arrived in 1 hour when it said like 30 mins 45 mins. Anyway the food got here my order was correct but forgot my mom's order. If I could give 0 stars on the service I would. The girls who take my order for delivery NEVER confirm my order and NEVER confirm my address. Every time I order delivery something is wrong, either the order or the address or BOTH. This is so upsetting because the food is delicious, however, I am fed up with the bad service and will never order from here again. Had breakfast there many times and always find that their Cuban bread is the worst. It has no taste, its not toasty its just bland ! Also it was not crowded and the service was super slow. Our order was supposedly taken right and delivered wrong and we had to go around to other tables to find one bottle of catsup that had catsup inside. I just picked up lunch at the Sergios' on Bird Road and 93rd. I ordered the two mini slider fritas, eight croquetas and Russian salad. Well, I opened the sliders since they fritas looked so slim and disappeared inside the bread. They didn't look anything like the slider mini fritas in their website. It appears that they cut one frita into two halves and put each half inside each of the slider breads. And the cod croquetas? Yes, they were croquetas, and eight of them, but NONE had any cod inside. We tried them all., believe me they tasted like cod but there was not a trace of cod in any of them. Shame on you! This food was horrible. I did not get what I paid for. We trashed the fritas and the croquetas and I only ate the Russian salad. I feel cheated. read more

I love this place. One of my go-to restaurants. They serve authentic cuban food. This place is so good, they are expanding to different areas. I'm lucky because I have 2 near my house! This location has been here for years! I've been coming here ever since I was a kid. I usually come here for breakfast, but I've been here for other times of the day. I love that their menu keeps expanding. Now they serve panther coffee! My favorite meal of the day is breakfast and so I visit here quite often for that. I usually have the deluxe breakfast. It has pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruits, toast and a cafe con leche all for about $8. Super affordable and super tasty. I recently tried their french toast with guava sauce. And wow! The guava sauce is soooooo good. They also make an awesome croqueta preparada. Their croquetas are super yummy too. I would give this place a 5 stars if the service was better. It's either a hit or miss. Some servers may be nice, and others not so nice. If you're in the mood for some great cuban food, this is your spot. read more

I had to go inside and get them to come take our order and they were rude about it. I ordered the steak and I asked for it to be cooked rare (aka blue) and it was served well done.
