Reviewing the ventanita and that's that. Passed by on a Sunday morning with a girlfriend prior to heading to Fairchild for their annual Chocolate Festival. We needed coffee and we needed it STAT. The line was whatever. Not an obnoxious amount of people but not nonexistent either. Whatever. The lady we had spoke to us in Spanish (no surprise there) and we ordered. Had a café, a café con leche, empanadas, croquetas that had just been made (yum!) between the two of us. The coffees were legit on fire. Had to blow big time prior drinking. I had a chicken empanada and it was delish. The croqueta though? Out of this world! Get them when they're freshly made if possible. The coffee, though, was blah - we've definitely had better, and so, my rating of three stars. read more

It truly saddens me to leave a one star review for this Sergio's location but absolutely nothing we ate nor the service was memorable. We started with the croquetas appetizer, they seemed old and not the Sergio's quality that I'm used to. The chicken soups were okay and then we went onto the entrees. The chicken vaca frita tacos' presentation was cute but I wish that all of the toppings that came separately would actually be in the tacos. The pollo empanizado was decent and the beef vaca frita was probably the best option. Our waiter was on his way out of his shift and it was noticeable. Never even got a refill of water, literally told us he would leave right after we paid and it was just unnecessary information at that point. Not sure if I would ever come back here. read more

Always a good option to go to any Sergio's, good prices, nice and quick customer care, the food is good, nothing fancy, sometimes it's a hit or miss with some dishes but overall most of the time is good. yesterday I stopped for a late lunch at Sergio's in Kendall. I ordered a steak sandwich and it was the most disgusting mess I have seen or eaten. The cook fried the potatoe crisps and plopped this greasy mess on the sandwich. the tomatoe was barely red and the sandwich was dry. I asked for mayonnaise but they had no idea what I was talking about. I scrapped off the greasy mess & tried to salvage some of the meat. This is probably the best Sergio's restaurant there is. Super clean and the service was excellent and the food. The price was very cheap and the plates were huge. We had like 3 different people attending our table, which was nice. I love how they have a button that you can press when you need assistance, but we didn't even need to press it because our waiters were very tentative. Love that! read more

This place deserves no stars. Just returned from dinner here. Food was cold. I ordered beef vaca frita and it tasted like boiled beef. no flavor. There were two pieces of dead onions on top. The yuca I ordered was again, tasteless. my other side order was moros which was too salty and the beans had a burnt flavor. I squeezed all the lime wedges they gave me, including my husband's, onto my beef and the yuca to help the taste. But to no avail. My husband had pollo a la plancha which he said was tasteless As well. About the only good thing was the cordatito which was nice and strong and full of flavor. The wait staff could not speak english at all but luckily I was able to order, having lived here in Cuban Miami for the last 40 years. I asked for a takeout box because I wanted to take my leftover beef to dress it up and make it more tasty ( i dont like to waste food), and the waiter brought a box and a bag, on which he had spilled some of the cortadito. I didnt dare ask for another box, in case he thought of spitting in it or something. ( just like you never send stuff back to the kitchen, you don't want to piss off the waiter.) The maitre'd was not friendly. Not going back. I have to say, I've been here before, for breakfast, and the food and staff were good and friendly, respectively. Terrible window service Everyone in my family loves croquetas. So when I go I order 8 or more. It's infuriating when I specifically order 8 HAM croquetas that when I get home half of them are not ham. I rather them tell me they only have 4 ham. Or tell me that they have to wait for the kitchen to cook more. But I'm so sick and tired of paying over $1 per croqueta that ends up in the garbage. And what infuriated me even more is I always tip for this lazy service which, by the way is not very friendly. Those ladies at the window need to cheer up. It's a shame I have to leave such a bad review because I've dined inside and their food is always so good and the restaurant itself is nice. From now on I'm driving down to the other Cuban place. Sergio's is not far from my house, which is why I'm here everyday, it's convenient and the quality is not that mediocre. I usually get breakfast, despite it being 2 pm (I work night shifts), the food is average for the price. I usually get alright service when i come here, lady in front has an attitude, but we all have those days. I had Fransisco as a server once, and it's the only reason i keep coming back, in hopes that the other employees will have half the attentiveness and whit that this gentleman has. The environment is very cozy, there's robots that deliver your food to your table side. Only issues I'm having, is with customer service and following simple instructions. I came in today, and sat for 20 minutes before i had to ask to get water. 20 minutes later, i asked if someone was going to take my order. Granted it's a Saturday, but 40 min to take your order is ridiculous. On top of that, I ask for very simple requests, bacon very crispy, and milk half full in the cup. Fair to say my bacon was the furthest thing from crispy. One of the staff came and spoke to me, I'm guessing she saw i was bothered. She assured me that she would let the hosts and waitresses know for next time, and she comped my meal ( which is not what i wanted) but i greatly appreciate. Happy customer that was heard!!!! As I said the previous review was in service alone...the food always got 5 stars from me. I am happy to update their service to a 5 after this customer's concerns were heard! I came to get my usual morning treats with the generous gift card their provider and was happily surprised. A visual was placed on the side door to signal customers to wait until called preventing that line jumping i experienced before. The staff were also much more attentive to the arrival order of the customers and made efforts to ensure it was a first come first served procedure.
