As a lifelong South Floridian, I'm pretty particular about my Cuban food. Sergio's delivered one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The Vaca Frita was outstanding, a generous portion, perfectly seasoned, and cooked exactly as requested: extra crispy. The rice was flavorful without being overly salty, and the black beans were spot-on. Everything struck that perfect balance where it's seasoned just right, you don't need to add anything unless you want to. The tostones were excellent too, crispy on the outside with a soft, tender bite inside, nothing like the hard, overcooked versions you often get elsewhere. We started with their plantain chips and enjoyed the complimentary Cuban bread. For dessert, the mousse was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, the ideal finish. Sergio's in pembroke pines is my little taste of cuban while being in broward. Being born and raised in hialeah i was exposed heavily to cuban culture as well as coming from cuban parents. When i moved up to pines i feared not having my little ventanita but fear not. Sergio had been there for me with open arms. From the sweet ladies who attend me. To the even sweeter coffee i get to pick up on my way to work. Ive had a couple different lattes here and can proudly say none have ever missed. I was so disappointed last meal. Should have sent back chicken breast so overcooked was like a piece of rubber. I love Sergio's!!!! The ladies at the ventanita are so sweet and are quick with their service. I usually only order through the side window but one day would like to sit inside and have a full meal. Today I got some empanadas, 2 guava & cheese pastelitos and (not pictured) 2 ham croquettas and everything was delicious. I also got a Maris cookie cold foam coffee which was strong but yummy! For dinner, we ordered the following: * Ropa Vieja * Palomilla Steak * Lechon Asado * Blend Burger * Kids Breakfast * Premium Sides - Avocado Salad, Eggplant Stack, Cauliflower Rice This place seemed promising. Our server Valeria was very nice, but spoke very little English. All the food arrived except for the burger and I was missing my roasted vegetables side. they located the burger and our server brought me what looked like the eggplant stack that my husband ordered for his side. Is the roasted vegetables and eggplant stack the same thing? The Palomilla Steak did not look appealing whatsoever. From the minute it hit the table. The Palomilla cost $19.50 and not what I expected at all. I understand the Palomilla is a "flat iron grilled thin steak" but they charge you almost $20 for this super thin piece of non-existent meat? What was the point in ordering this medium rare when it came out looking almost well done. Not only was there no meat, it lacked any flavor. It was bland. Better with salt and pepper but why?!? I really wanted to send this back after the first bite but I didn't want to be that person. I wish I was that person and just ordered the Cuban Sandwich to be safe. So disappointing. Definitely not worth $20!!! My cauliflower rice was good. Decent. My "roasted vegetables" didn't appeal to me either. I checked out the eggplant and it was raw. Not edible. Hard pass. I love Ropa Vieja and husband's dish was good but could have used more sauce as it tasted dry. Maybe because it was from the La Flaca (Skinny Menu)? Who knows. Husband enjoyed his dinner. My kids enjoyed their burger and kids breakfast. Our daughter's friend ordered the Lechon Asado and that looked good with her side of black beans and sweet plantains. We got to try the Lechon and it was good. All in all, I think I was turned off as soon as I got my Palomilla steak and there was no returning from that experience. Lol. I know my husband felt bad because he gave me some of his Ropa Vieja, put fries on my plate or gave me our kid's leftover burger to make up for my disappointing dinner. Lol. That's love. I don't think we will return to Sergio's unfortunately. The space has lots of charm but the food was lacking. I've been in the area for Business multiple times and this place always popped up when looking for Cuban Food in the area. Never gave them a chance until now I had the Vaca Frita plate with Moros and Yuca delivered to my hotel. I gotta tell you...it was pretty good. The meat could've used a bit more seasoning, but you can fix that with a bit of salt and pepper. The rice was very tasty as well as the yuca. The moros were absolutely perfect. They were full of flavor and the rice balance of rice and beans. The tostones were the huge crispy discs fried on the outside and creamy in the middle. I hadn't been to Sergio's in quite some time, but I decided to go back for their 50th anniversary promotion offering discounted sandwiches. I arrived around 3:30 p.m. and the place was already busy. Despite the crowd, the wait was about 30 minutes, which is fairly standard for a restaurant. Once seated, I already knew what I wanted. The promotion was dine-in only, and since I wanted to try them all, I planned to order one of each of the 6-7 sandwiches offered. Unfortunately, the waitress informed us that 3-4 of them were unavailable. That's something that should really be mentioned up front, since most customers came specifically for the promotion. On top of that, she then told me there was a two-sandwich limit per person--again, something that should be noted on the menu or in the promotion itself. I ended up ordering a Pan con Bistec, Media Noche, and Chori Pan. The food took another 30 minutes to arrive, and unfortunately, the quality was disappointing. The Pan con Bistec was extremely dry--no mayo, the steak tough and leathery, and not freshly prepared. The Media Noche was served cold with unmelted cheese and bread that wasn't pressed the way it should be. The Chori Pan was basically two tiny sausages, dry and flavorless. My main issue isn't the wait--it's the lack of care in the food itself. If you're going to run a promotion, at least make sure what you're serving is good. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for," but even then, the quality should meet a basic standard. Overall, this experience just reminded me why I stopped coming to Sergio's years ago. I hate writing bad reviews, but I'm at my wits end with the staff here; specifically at the pick up counter. They lack common sense and communication skills. This place is on my route to work, so I often place a pick up order of empanadas and Cafe con leche for my coworkers and I. EVERY WEEK I'd order multiple empanadas on the Sergio's website for pick up. Nowhere does it let you add sauces for them on the web order, but I always ask for sauces with the empanadas at pick up. EVERY WEEK they give me a hard time. Why? I'm ordering food and would like sauce to go with it. If I was sitting inside would this be an argument? I end up either paying for this "special cilantro sauce" as an extra cost, or they give it to me after pushback. Then they make a big deal about needing one for each empanada. No one likes double dipping sauces with a coworker. I don't understand the issue here, but this happens EVERY WEEK. I've never had this issue at any other place, where sauce for the item I purchase is an extra charge, nor have I seen it be such a huge deal. Listen, if this sauce was made with unicorn blood or gold flakes, I could see it having its on sku or purchase option. Honestly even if it was on the site at a cost, I'd just add it to the cart when placing my order. This ordeal of fighting over 75 cents every week is weird and tiring. Fix the mobile order system or don't charge for sauce. At this point I'd rather go out of my way to get breakfast order somewhere else. The staff at the pick up is irritating. Solve the issue, but don't make it the clients problem. Today I had the added perk of my coffee order being overflowing before I even picked it up. This soaked the holder, and by the time I got a block away had broken through the bottom and spilled everywhere in my car. How fun to deal with as you get to work. I'm giving 2 stars because the food is honestly not bad at all, but I'll be staying away because I just want better service when I'm paying for my food. read more

My family members (party of 8) ordered items such as Lechon (roasted pork!) , Pan con Bistec , Masas de Puerco (fried pork chunks, description on the menu is the same as Lechon but texture is different!) All of us were quite happy with our meals I will say that there was a definite language barrier but the gentleman serving us was extremely nice. Incidentally my dad missed the line that stated the included gratuity (probably didn't use his reading glasses) and the waiter actually came back and omitted what he could've assumed was additional tip! My buddy recommended this place to me. I sat at the bar and I asked the guy next to me, what's good? He said the fish and this thing they have that's like ropa Vieja, but with chicken. What I got the menu, right on top, was the shredded MOJO chicken. It sounds awesome. So I ordered it. The order is huge. It's like a whole breast, shredded and lightly fried. Just left the restaurant and there were only 2 other parties in the entire restaurant on a Friday night at 8:00pm. I wasn't sure why until I tasted the food and saw the bill. The same vaca frita one gets at the other Cuban restaurant on Miramar Parkway for $13 it costs here $19.50. On top of this I was charged an additional $1.50 for getting tostones as the side. The quantity is definitely not enough to share as it used to be and it it was mostly onions and definitely the taste is not the same. The tamal we ordered was the worst we had ever had and left most of it. Thankfully there are plenty of Cuban/ Latin restaurants in the area so I will not be returning. read more

I finally got the chance to dine at Sergio's even though it's been here for years. Very good food, a solid four stars. For appetizers we had the Trio which is tostones (fried green plantains) topped with either pork, beef or chicken which are topped with cilantro sauce, pico de gallo and guacamole. I loved these, the combination of textures and tastes made for an absolutely delicious start to our meal. I ordered the palomillo steak with rice and potato salad (I heard carbs don't count if you're not dining alone) as my sides. I almost never see potato salad as a side in any Cuban restaurant so I had to go with it and I'm so happy I did. Potato salad can be made so many different ways and I'm sort of a snob about it so I set the bar kind of high when I try potato salad in restaurants. Theirs was so good I'm glad I took the leap of faith in trying it. The steak was very good but they forgot to put the onions and parsley on both my husbands and my steak. The couple we were with both really enjoyed their maids as well and I tried a piece of their fried yuca which was crispy and flavorful and came with a fantastic garlic sauce on the side.
