Been to Polo Norte for years now but quality seems to dropped lately at this location. With some highlights and lowlights, the highlights being the Antojito appetizer which always is amazing. Offer the best Mariquita there is around with the best mojo sauce there is. Also can't go wrong with the congri/black beans and rice. Lowlights, food was dry and not as flavorful. Masitas were super dry. The vaca frita was also dry and not flavorful. The palomilla steak was rubber and dry as well. Overall food quality seems to have dropped but the service still remained on par and was still great on our visit. We really liked their decor. The service was also pleasant. We were disappointed in the fish croquettes. My cuban frita was lukewarm and dry. My husband had a fried snapper. This was the best dish out of everything , however he was disappointed in that as well. He said the fish was not seasoned very well and he had to keep adding salt. Great place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is great too. They're known for their Cuban pizza but have a wide variety. I loved the Churrasco with fried sweet potato pieces on the side. They also have a variety of fresh juices and shakes. Don't skip on dessert - the flan and arroz con leche are delicious. This spot came highly recommended on Yelp. We were staying nearby so we decided to give it a try since we were craving Cuban food. The place was very busy when we walked in so we had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. The server was very friendly and took our order promptly. I enjoyed the yuca frita, pollo à la plancha with black beans & white rice. My husband ordered the garlic snapper with arroz moro and maduros (ripe plantain). The snapper was HUGE. It could have fed 3 people! The only thing lacking was the garlic chili sauce. They either left it off or didn't put much. We shared some mango and coconut ice cream for dessert. Both very delicious. The papaya batido wasn't very sweet but it was okay. The ambiance was lively with very nice decor. Loved the wallpaper with an ode to famous Cubans. There were TVs all around playing FIFA games and the restaurant was festively decorated for the FIFA World Cup. Polo Norte is a great choice if you're looking for good cuban food and a bit of italian mix. We had lunch there first time. Servers were friendly and explained the lunch specials. We had ham croquetas so good the smoked ham. Pretty nice size croquetas too! We had shrimp pizza, beef stew with sweet potato bites and sweet plantains, steak sandwich, chicken soup, palomilla steak and sweet potato. The food was excellent specially the palomilla steak was thick, tender and juicy. Worth every penny. The beef stew was a bit cold but still tasty. The food came out really fast. I always order the churrasco and it is always cooked to perfection! The guava and cheese pizza is a delicious treat when you're being bad . Today we visited the Polo Norte Miramar we sat down and waited no one came to our table. Finally the waiter Yoxaris came and apologized for the wait and took our order. We ordered mariquitas they were cold and hard no garlic sauce the waiter said they had runout of garlic sauce. After a while waiting another waiter brought the food and it was cold, I ask for an extra plate, olive oil and vinegar and she never came back. I had to go to the back and ask for it again. The bistec a la Milanesa was delicious, but truly i have more than half of the things on the menu and so far nothing has seemed to fail me! Although I will say, my parents ordered a cuban style pizza and were not a fan of it. I did not try so I cannot confirm if it's true lol. For the times we've been there through my childhood till now, we have not had any bad experiences due to the service or food. I'm not much of a reviewer but I have to say that last night the food was not good, lobster was cold and hard and the last 2 times I've been there the service was terrible. Order took a long time to be served. That explain why the lobster was cold and we had to claim part of the order that was never served. It will be a long time for me to go back there. I hardly make reviews but I had to write one down for this place. I will say first that the food was pretty good I would rate the food a solid 6.2 nothing to really go home about but decent. But the service was terrible I had the blonde server. Took her 10 to 15 minutes for us to get our drinks mind you there was about maybe 5 or 6 tables in the restaurant so drinks shouldn't take that long. And then I see her haha and heheing with the host and not checking on us or her other tables so I wonder why she is getting paid as a server. She never checked on us the only time she did was only when we finished having dessert. We had to get her attention twice for refills and she got my brother's food order wrong twice. He ordered the Cuban sandwich with no pickles and mustard because he's picky. She brought the sandwich and it had pickles in it and then we sent it back so it could get fixed. And when she brought it back it was a whole new sandwich which was nice but it had mustard and we weren't gonna wait another 20 to 25 minutes for her to send it back so he ate it trying to cope. So all in all save your money I highly recommend going to Flanigans or Chilis that's where it's at not this sad excuse for a restaurant. And the manager who is gonna read this review please fire the blonde server so you can have more butts in those seats. I've heard so many good things about Polo Norte over the last few months that I had to make it a point to visit and see for myself. They are located in West Miramar (South Florida) on Miramar Pkwy just west of Dykes Road. They are known for their traditional Cuban cuisine including their personalized Cuban pizzas. They have a large variety of food options including breakfast, dessert and Happy Hour! I ordered the personalized veggie pizza which was good. My husband ordered the pork chops with rice & beans and my sons ordered Vaca Frita with rice & beans. We all agreed everything was good. They serve decent sized portions. I really like that they are close to me and that the atmosphere is really nice. You can sit inside or outdoors which is important to me. I always chose to sit outside weather permitting. There is plenty of free parking. I'm planning on going for happy hour next time to see what that experience is like. Check them out if you're ever in the area. read more

Polo Norte was suggested in one of Yelp's "hot places" emails and based on the pictures I knew I had to go immediately. Really nice, stylish, and clean dining room. Extremely friendly staff, every single one of them, and delicious food makes for an easy 5 stars. The prices were really reasonable. We shared an appetizer and a dessert and our total was less than $40. Definitely heavy in the rotation and I can see going here very regularly. I'm fact, had to make some hard decisions being the first trip here and didn't get a frita, but will come back and rectify that very soon. What we did get started with an Antojito appetizer, which is fried cheese and chorizo served over mariquitas (fried plaintain strips). This thing was so good, and every table that sat down around us also ordered one. The cheese was fried perfectly, and the chorizo had a nice crisp to the skin and was bursting with a savory, smoky flavor. This is a big winner! We also split a Cuban sandwich, and it was perfectly prepared as we asked, with fresh ham and pulled pork. This too was served with Mariquitas. The pizza looked too good not to try, so ordered a personal sized with Piccadillo. Thee crust has a nice charred cheese crisp, and the sauce was good with a strong flavor of green pepper. For me, I really like thin coal fired style pizza, so the Cuban style was not my favorite as it is thicker and chewier, but still good especially if you like this style. Finished our meal with Flan. Now I've lived in South Florida my whole life, and was introduced to flan 40 years ago in Miami and have had some of the best. That said, the flan at Polo Notre will give any I've ever had a run for it's money. So rich, so thick, so perfect! We loved our meal and I strongly recommend Polo Notre. We will be back for $5 mojitos on Thursday and live music on Wednesday. read more

I decided to check it out and was not disappointed. I wasn't really hungry at first so I ordered mariquitas with my mango margarita but after smelling all the amazing food coming out, I decided to order the sandwich de pollo and it HIT. THE. SPOT. For dessert I went for a scoop of mango ice cream and a scoop of mantecado with sprinkles on top. It was my first time trying mantecado and I instantly fell in love. All this for a decent price.
