Now I must say I leave a lot of this up to the mister to take care of but the couple of times I've visit it has been a good experience. I often feel I am taken advantage of and have to pay $$$$$ for it. On a separate occasion I've called the parts desk multiple times to order a new hub cap and when the AI takes my information for a call back, I push to speak with a person and get redirected back to the AI which then hung up on me. I came to Michigan to purchase a used Toyota and was hoping to find a one-stop shop for both a mechanical inspection and detailing. Serra Toyota seemed like the logical choice. However, after mentioning my plans to friends and family, I was warned about their poor reputation--and unfortunately, those concerns turned out to be valid. The service department failed to follow through on their commitments. The car was supposed to be inspected first, then sent to the detailing shop the following day. I had to repeatedly call to get updates, and at every step, it felt like nothing had actually been done. By the end, they tried to charge me $200 for a detailing service that clearly hadn't been completed. A complete waste of time and a frustrating experience. I wouldn't recommend them. read more

I have purchased from the Toyota dealerships in Birmingham including Hoover, Limbaugh and now Serra Toyota. With unwarranted items that weren't removed and still haven't been. I had perfect credit and was talking to Megan the assistant to the manger since Serra passed way before me. I have recorded every conversation with her and the manager and the other man I sent an email to. I don't have the most expensive toyota truck made by any means. I ordered my last one and decided to go to this crooked dealer. What a nightmare. Almost 6,000.00 tire wheel,etc warranties are still on the loan. My loan should have been just the 8,000.00 not 60,000. Theit crooked salesman Kamrin was fired, no he wasn't and the finance freak was scared to talk to me too. I called the Director of Finance in Hoover with that dealer and address, everything was wrong. Interest rate very low but they are paying for it not me. Plus all the other other cash finance to 60,000.00. I paid Kamrin 40,000.00 cash and shouldn't have even been financed. I have had a terrible health problem since all this happened and have not confronted them yet. I almost died and never drove my truck. But wanted it exactly like my other one I sold. We always purchased Chevy trucks that could pull a large Frame off restoration my husband did twice on 2 corvettes 1967's. And Tony Serra came to my husband before he died to restore a 1954 corvette he purchased in CA. I bought many brand new corvettes from Serra Chevrolet as well as the trucks with the dully wheels to haul our corvettes all over the US in a large trailer made only for those 1967's for national judging. His he had never done before and then comes Tony Serra with his corvette only my husband to do for him. That car was out in his Chevrolet dealership on display. The first corvette was a 1953 and they made only 300 then. I am getting what I want from this dealer now including the name Serra removed as they certainly are not the Serra name Or deserving of it. I just have to make this far to end this now while I still can. My brother found me dying in my bed and called 911. He had to come here and feed my kitty and my last little dog of 3 I had plus still having to take care of them, and purchase food for me eating the best I can do. I am in a so much pain and struggle so hard. I need a nurse here to help take care of me. I have had nurses and physical therapist but will never walk again or drive my beautiful truck. I was in the hospital for months not aware of what was happening to me but remember crying. I had to go to a rehab facility cried there scared still unaware of all that happened to me. I had eventually physical therapy there also but have gone down hill. I wasn't aware they had cut my hair off and when I was shown how to use the restroom with a walker I saw it in the mirror was awful. I had several surgeries. I was there scared and crying too. My truck is black like my other one I had ordered 4 wheel drive and will give it to my brother. I loved the corvette's as much or more than my husband did. But I was very proud of him. I worked my whole life enjoying my jobs, I could do any job in the building I was in. I got a job when I got married. I have lost all of my family took care of my husband dying with a very rare disease. He had a death sentence from then time he was diagnosed. I have been through a lot as I am sure others have too. But fighting about a truck with one of the largest dealerships in the eastern part of town. The name Serra has been around many years. With every kind of car they sale or trucks. I needed his help to take care of me but that wasn't God's plan then. I had a wonderful family I loved very much. I still do in my prayers. This has been so hard for me to write all of this but so important. People need to know how crooked some of these dealers are. Came here by default since I couldn't get an appt at Lexus. I had required maintenance needed before I was heading out of town. I scheduled an appt on a Saturday around noonish. Scheduling by phone was easy and service was professional with the lady I spoke with. When I arrived, greeted by a guy giving me his business card. I get it but I told him that I wasn't there looking to purchase a new car. Just to get my current vehicle serviced. Pulled in the bay and went inside the reception area. It was kind of a zoo! I had arrived a lunchtime. Big mistake! It was very crowded and chaotic to say the least. A lot going on and people everywhere! Shawn , the gentleman who stopped eating to help me was cool and helpful. Gave me an overview of what my vehicle needed. All I really wanted / needed was an oil change. No problem... he was just doing his job. And of course looking to make more money for their dealership. Cool. I didn't get all he recommended but I appreciate the service provided as well as the money I was able to save thanks to Shawn. It didn't take long for my service to be completed. Took longer for them to take my car back to be serviced. This actually alarmed me because I was thinking they just did a rush job. My car is driving ok after coming here. Something does feel a little off. Maybe it's just me. Overall, coming here met my needs at the time. First experience ever buying my own vehicle was absolutely ruined by this dealership. I traded in my truck for a Tacoma TRD Off Road and when driving it home the transmission skipped. Brought it back the following Monday and they informed me that it will need a transmission replacement (good thing they missed that in the inspection). Waited a week and a half and still no news. (Had forgotten some info) Let me tell you about my experience. If I could put a -5 stars, I would. BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!! This dealership provided me misinformation and sold a car out from under me after traveling from two states. Then provide me misinformation on 3 separate vehicles and attempted to pressure me to sign off on a vehicle that I have not seen in person. They made me wait 2 whole days- sunup to sundown, waiting until the very end of the day, financing manager refusing to go over in-depth about Bill of Sale just wanting me to sign. Because of their miscommunication in their departments, their dealership sold my reserved vehicle after guaranteeing it was mine. And because of all the trouble I was not to be paying for a delivery fee for another vehicle and they charged me on the bill of sale anyway so they did not honor their word in that regard either. Not only the salesperson, sales manager, financing manager, and accounting manager assured me that they would write me a check that day for lodging reimbursement for making me stay longer and their business closing and not completing the paperwork. The following morning they assured me that I would be out of there within 2 hours, it was 9:00 a.m. I did not leave until 9:00 p.m. and they still would not refund my check or give it to me in person. I asked for it various times throughout the day and they reassured me that they would. Then at the end of the night when 9:00 p.m. rolls around, they told me they would not give me my check reimbursement in person because everyone has left for the day even though they refused to give it to me (regardless of a vehicle purchase or not). The other big issue I had was they charged me a delivery fee on the contract when I said specifically I wasn't paying for a delivery fee on a vehicle from another dealership since they had sold the one I originally wanted. After the salesperson. Salesperson I was with reassured me I wouldn't because he said if he was able to get it there that very day for me to look at, would I consider purchasing it? And I said if they got it to me that day and it had all the specs, I would but I'm not paying a delivery fee from one dealership to another since I was told multiple times that three separate vehicles had what I wanted and they didn't. Once again, he agreed and ran off to go order it. The vehicle was not delivered that evening in time for me to see and I had to stay overnight. The financial department would not go over in depth on the bill of sale or the contract agreements. He would not give me the grievance department information, numbers, or names. I asked multiple times to see the bill of sale and the full amount in it's entirety and I was ignored and expected just to sign without question. Reassured that they would call me the very next day and give me the tracking information along with the type of service the check was going to be mailed by. It has been 3 days and they are not accepting my calls. They are hanging up on me. They didn't return voicemails or texts. I am a disabled veteran and a woman traveling alone and they knew this and I was pressured and provided misinformation for two days straight not including the week prior about the discussion on a vehicle that was sold out from under me after traveling 600+ miles. I did not like being pressured by more than six people throughout the day and having them ask about my marital status multiple times. This is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful!! When I wanted to leave with my vehicle immediately and they refused to give me my car before I signed off and approved that it was traded off to the dealership. I said to give me back my title immediately and they refuse to give that to me as well until I demanded it. Because they tried to tack on more charges when prior agreements nullified them. And then I was reassured that this would be taken care of within a couple of hours. They made me wait over 4 hours after that. I found it interesting when it came time for a down payment at the end of the deal, the financial manager asked me if I had unlocked my bank account yet so the charge would go through. Interesting...How did he know the account was locked before I ever signed the bill of sale or approved of charging my card a 2nd time for the down payment? The only authorization I I approved was the refundable deposit the day prior and that was to secure a vehicle to VIEW ONLY. They did not even give me a temporary license plate for travel and expected me to leave the property without a temporary plate. Driving without plates is illegal. It is illegal to charge accounts without proper authorization by the owner. These actions entirely illegal and a car dealership knows this. Yet they expected me to leave. I wouldn't leave without my temp license plate. They don't honor their word! They made me pay the delivery fee & didn't reimburse me. Worst experience EVER! NOT MILITARY Friendly. read more

TL;DR: Serra Toyota will lie on Carfax reports, lie to your face, go back on promises. These folks will manipulate and gaslight you. They will lie not only straight to your face, but also on official documents. Our salesperson, Nick D. showed us the Carfax for the car we were purchasing. We noticed it said that they replaced the windshield, and we were wary of this. He calmed our worries, saying it had just been cracked and they replaced it. Because we were still concerned, Nick even wrote up a "we owe" form saying that if anything ever happens to the windshield, they'll replace it. This made us feel much better, so we continued with the sale. They could only take a certain amount from my debit card, so we said we would bring a cashier's check the next day. They let me drive the car home while my trade-in stayed at Serra. When we got home, we noticed a chip on the edge of the windshield. The next day, we got the check from the bank and went to Serra. I requested they show me the record of whether they repaired or replaced the windshield because I wanted to know whether it was the original windshield that was incompletely repaired or a new windshield that they chipped during installation. Nick told us that the "we owe you" only applied to a "leaking windshield," which was NOT what we had agreed upon. He went so far as to accuse US of having damaged the windshield in the short 12 hours it was in our possession. I insisted on seeing the documents on the windshield repair/replacement that had taken place. Finally, Nick had to admit that they NEVER FIXED the windshield, LIED on the car's history report, and falsely ACCUSED us to our face of damaging the windshield. Makes me wonder what else Serra lies about to customers AND on their official service reports. These people are willing to go very far to manipulate and con their customers. read more

Only to find out that the warranty is actually packaged together with their "Platinum 3.0" plan which is actually $1,995!! That's on top of their $995 Dealer fee. I got a bad explanation of this from a sales person, followed up by an equally bad explanation from one of the sales managers. "It's all in how you read it." Oh, my bad. From offering complimentary breakfast, massages (you read that right), to adding extra staff to simply greet you and keep things running smoothly --- they are continuing to raise the bar! If I could give zero stars, I would. This dealership preys on young, vulnerable buyers. Their salesperson Montel falsified loan documents in order to force an approval. The interest was never disclosed (23%!!!) and he refused to supply the loan documents when they were requested. This salesperson aided an abusive partner in committing financial abuse on a young lady who will now suffer years of consequences of the manipulation from both parties. I have emailed the GM John McDonald, who has not responded. Serra dealerships have been under investigation in the past for these fraudulent practices, but apparently have not learned their lesson. On June 2 25 I took my 2020 chr on to be serviced because it was making a loud whiny noise. I was told by the service rep whoever he was that the transmission was going out. I said ok when can u replace it, I was told my 5yr warranty ended in December 2024, car was almost paid for April 2026. I was told that the adjuster whoever that is had to look at the car and let me know if it could be replaced. I said fine can I get a loner car, and of course they don't do loner cars anymore. I purchased a new car here about 4 weeks ago. I have been unable to title or register the car because I don't have the needed paperwork and cannot get in touch with anyone at Serra. I've left multiple voicemails and made multiple calls, spending hours of personal time, with no luck. I have gone to my local title/tag office who is also baffled by Serra's lack of response and assure me my only option is to work with them. I live 2.5 hours from the dealership and it seems my only option is to drive the 5 hours round trip to confront the issue in person. I drove 2 hours out of my way to trade in my truck because they told me they would give me retail price for it, and they tried to pull a quick one on me and offer me less. Then proceeded to keep me there all day long from about 9:30 to 3:30ish even though i told them i needed to be gone by 3:00. They are extremely heavy on selling you on one price then turning around and adding absurd extra charges. They're also very pushy to make the deal, i asked my salesmen if i could step away and make a phone call and I could just see how annoyed he was by this. They also aren't willing to work with you to get you, the buyer, a lower monthly payment. They also don't apply for your registration for you nor do they bother telling you. I also was told "you don't need a temp tag just tell them you just bought it" which is crazy. To add to it they basically stole money from me, meaning with my trade in i should have had $3,975 to put towards a new truck but somehow i was only given $3,010. They stay dodging phone calls and the receptionist is just straight up rude. Another point that I will make is that they will try to convince you that your best option is to finance through South East Toyota when you don't and they only tell you that to get even more money out of you. Short version - they are heavy on BAIT & SWITCH and blatantly DISHONEST about the costs associated with their out the door price. Long version: I drove 1.5hrs to purchase a 1st Edition Land Cruiser that I had been going back and forth online with their sales team about because they had the specific color I was looking for in that model. They even had me make an appointment to come buy it, plus I even contacted the primary internet sales person I had been working with before starting the drive to verify it was available and waiting for me. I get there and hear "oh, that vehicle is sold"....and then I hear "don't worry we have another one that is EXACTLY the same" and then the sales guy pulls up a used 1958 version that was grossly overpriced. So yeah, not the same - not even remotely close to being the same. It was remarkable that the sales person could keep a straight face while trying to convince me it was the same...their sales folks must be trained by acting coaches when they are hired to be able to straight face lie like that. Horrible, horrible auto dealer to interact with - this was the classic bait and switch scenario combined with the tactic of adding surprise hidden fees after the initial discussions of numbers. I would give zero stars if I could. We had an appointment to look at a 2022 Honda Civic Sport with 61,000 mi. with a listing price of $21,000. It took the salesperson several minutes to locate the vehicle, only to see that it was not even presentable to view. It was dirty, filthy actually, inside and outside. It looked like someone had been licking the windows, a plethora of food crumbs in the crevices near the gearshift, the floor mat had a hole in it and the salesperson asked me if it was a hole! The floorboard on the driver's side had been dug into, the tires were bald with one of the tires separating from the rim, and the lever in the trunk to lay the backseats down was swinging around in the trunk. The salesperson exclaims "We just need to clean it up", we've had it since the 3rd. We had an appointment to view and test drive the vehicle. It was so nasty with bald tires, that it was in no shape to drive it. The salesman said we can take care of it, let's look at the numbers. Now to the fun part...the asking price was 21,000. We sit down to talk numbers and end up with the salesperson trying to sell this vehicle (that we've yet to test drive) for 25K and some. The breakdown was 25K(it wasn't 25K even) and some minus 4,000= 21,000(initial asking price on the web) plus 4,000(platinum package, fees, plus 1000 doc fee, etc) We asked if the platinum package was optional and he said no. We asked what was included in the package and he wanted us to make a deal on the numbers presented before answering the question. We asked again for the platinum information and learned that it consists of Manicure Wednesdays, Massage Thursdays, oil changes maybe, and some other stuff that one may never use. We asked if they were servicing the car to be driven and we were told that they would do it based on purchase. We were about to scrap everything and the salesperson said, what if I can remove the platinum package, would we have a deal???? All that to say we left... Be diligent in your research. read more

Was comparing prices on the same vehicle (a new Camry XSE with a specific setup) from multiple dealers, being very upfront about the fact that I was doing so because I wanted to get the best price for myself I could. Now, mind you, this is a straight, simple buy. I'm not trading anything in, I've already got the financing arranged before I walk in the door, so this is about as simple as a sale gets- I just want the best price. The guy I was dealing with at Serra was friendly enough...at first. But evasive on the price- all he would tell me is that he would beat any offer from a competitor on an identical vehicle. So, fine, I understand the game. I tell him what the best price I've gotten this far is. He tells me he needs to see that in writing because he feels like the other dealer is either trying to sell me a different car, or is baiting me into coming in and not planning on giving me that price. But he still says if I can show him that price in writing, he will beat it. So I get the price in writing with the VIN and vehicle specs and everything else and tell him I've got it and am going to send it to him and am curious as to what his actual price to me will be since he promised to beat it. His response was that he "will not participate in a race to the bottom", and that his prices are typically higher than other dealerships because of the commitment to service after the sale. Again, this is after telling me all day he'll beat my best offer. To top it all off, he has the nerve to call me a couple of days later and ask if I still want to buy. Sorry bud, I already bought the car elsewhere from someone who didn't reverse course on what they told me. 2 stars is pretty generous for this experience, but I'm trying not to hammer them too hard. Edit: based on the response below, I'm changing it to a 1 Star because that response shows the lack of attention they are paying. They're down there saying "sorry you weren't happy with the price". Dude, that's not even remotely why the review is bad. I shopped the price around to at least half a dozen dealerships. I totally get that not everyone can have the lowest price. That's the nature of business. The review isn't bad because I was unhappy with the price. The review is bad because the person I dealt with straight up mislead me (and did so, among other ways, by telling me that everyone *else* was misleading me), and wasted a ton of my time in doing so, and was super condescending once he finally showed his true colors, because apparently my not wanting to pay more for the exact same vehicle was grounds for talking to me like I was a jerk. Terrible experience, would NOT recommend going to this dealership. They prey on the young is an under statement. I drove 2 hours out of my way to trade in my truck because they told me they would give me retail price for it, and they tried to pull a quick one on me and offer me less. Then proceeded to keep me there all day long from about 9:30 to 3:30ish even though i told them i needed to be gone by 3:00. They are extremely heavy on selling you on one price then turning around and adding absurd extra charges. They're also very pushy to make the deal, i asked my salesmen if i could step away and make a phone call and I could just see how annoyed he was by this. They also aren't willing to work with you to get you, the buyer, a lower monthly payment. They also don't apply for your registration for you nor do they bother telling you. I also was told "you don't need a temp tag just tell them you just bought it" which is crazy. To add to it they basically stole money from me, meaning with my trade in i should have had $3,975 to put towards a new truck but somehow i was only given $3,010. They stay dodging phone calls and the receptionist is just straight up rude. Another point that I will make is that they will try to convince you that your best option is to finance through South East Toyota when you don't and they only tell you that to get even more money out of you. To summarize the are only doing whats best for them not you the customer. Money hungry and greedy is the best way to describe this dealership. I called to make an appointment. The process was easy and there were lots of options available. I was able to select a time that worked for me. I arrived about 10 minutes early and waited about five minutes to be seen (in those 5 minutes, three service members checked on me and assured me that someone would be right out to help me). They electronically check tire alignment and wear as you pull in and go over that information with you as well. The service advisor (Dennis) checked typical things under the hood while I was there to watch (battery erosion, air filter, etc). He pulled up my service history from other dealerships I'd had service done at and told me exactly what they would be doing today. The waiting room is nice with TVs, couches/chairs, bistro tables and outside seating as well. They offered Jimmy Johns sandwiches, coffee and filtered water while you waited. While waiting I saw several service advisors interacting with other clients. All were very kind and helpful, one patiently waited for an elderly gentleman as he walked up to check out. He made the man feel at ease and not rushed. In addition, he moved the car closer for the man so he didn't have to walk very far to get in his car. They also were cleaning and sanitizing to keep the waiting area fresh and clean. I ended up having a nail in my tire. I did not feel pressured to purchase tires from Toyota directly, but was presented with a variety of options. I ended up deciding to purchase the tires elsewhere, and because they were not able to fully complete the tire rotation due to the location of the nail in my tire (safer to leave the tire in the back vs moving to the front as it was time for), they prorated the charge for my services. Overall, I was impressed with the service at this location. Everyone was so personable and helpful! I plan to return when I need service again! read more

I arrived at Serra Toyota and pulled my wife's Prius into the bay garage for a standard oil change. I mentioned to the service manager I had a coupon and proceeded to hand it to him. After a short wait in a fairly nice waiting room the car was ready. I went to the counter and was told the cost was $70+ which seemed very high for the oil change and an air cabin filter replacement. I looked at the receipt and then paid. Prior to leaving the service manager came over and said "I'm sorry but we forgot to apply the coupon and cannot change the price. But you can use it next time you come in." I was definitely annoyed and thought about pressing the issue but I decided against it. read more

I purchased a used vehicle on May 2, 2020 The truck has a busted back up tail light($700 to repair),mismatch headlights, no floor mats, no remote to the DVD player, as well as being filthy when I purchased. I contacted the salesman by email less than three hours after purchase with no response, no follow up, no communication period. I assume once they have your money that is their only concern. For $30, 000 you would think the used car manager would like to rectify this situation. I guess it depends on the customer. I am not happy with my experience of buying this vehicle and I will never purchase from or recommend this business again. read more
