I came to Serrano's and to say the least, it was not a great experience. The food isn't really "Mexican" just a few ingredients tossed around. The price is pretty ridiculous, even for a "tourist" area. They charge for everything, even for splitting food with your partner. The attitude was okay, not rude but not friendly either. Ordered takeout at this restaurant in August 2026 I got a house salad with chicken and my son got Birra Enchiladas. This two items cost us over $70.00, for a takeout, for two minimal meals. Are you shocked? Did I mention the side chicken to my house salad could have had a second life as a discus for our local track & field team. The restaurant is small but mighty. We did have to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but it flew by. The night's special was a chimichanga with rice - beef, chicken, or pork. So after ordering some MT beers on draft, we ordered chimichangas and some tacos. There were fresh tortilla chips and some freshly made salsa to snack on while the food was prepared. Serrano's is under new management so we stopped to try it out. They have pared down the menu from the previous owners. The food we had was fresh and well prepared but they didn't have it spiced to my liking and they don't have hot sauce available so it's bland for Mexican. The service staff were pleasant and attentive. They don't have the place as well decorated as before. Prices are high for what you get, but this is a resort area. We will probably try it again after they get up to full speed to see if things improve. read more

We'd attempted Mexican in Whitefish, but hubs couldn't find anything that appealed to him. We ran across Serranos while visiting Glacier, and--since we both still had the hankerin--said let's try it. Reviews mentioned fajitas but they weren't on the menu. Always a problem! Apparently they've changed it since the yelp photos. I ordered layered vegetarian enchiladas, I can't remember the fancy name for it. It was flavorful and enjoyable, it just didn't taste very Mexican to me. Hubs ordered the pork tacos and was not impressed with his corn, rice, or the floppy and tasteless corn tortillas that his tacos came in. They really should be crispy corn or flour, unless corn is requested. Portions were plentiful and the food was fresh. We just really prefer a legit and old school Mexican restaurant. I visited last week and was amazed out how ridiculous the service was here. Multiple things happened that can only be described as absurd. We had a baby with us and asked if we could sit in the corner so the high chair would be out of the way. We were told "no" because that section was for the "other server and the other server wasn't there yet." So now my baby's high chair is right in the main walkway for customers coming in and the high chair is getting bumped multiple times by other people as they walk by. Is this restaurant so rigid that a server can't deviate from their normal table assignment for a unique request that is meant to ensure the safety of a baby and the convenience of the other customers? Even before that, when we told the host that we need a high chair, they don't even offer to get it for us. Every restaurant I've ever been to will proactively ask if you want a high chair when they see you have a baby with you and bring it to your table - not Serrano's. Now it's time to order food. We want to get something simple for our baby and ask if we can have the chicken tacos plain with the other ingredients on the side. The server tells us that if you don't want the extra ingredients on the taco itself then you don't get the other ingredients at all. Honestly, what kind of answer is that? And they still charge the same price despite being plain chicken on a tortilla. Why can't what I'm already paying for just be put in the side? We are trying to accommodate a baby and Serrano's is doing everything they can to be unhelpful. Lastly, I went to the counter and asked our server if I could have an extra napkin and she said "no, you'll need to go to the bathroom and get a paper towel." It really doesn't get any more bizarre than that. They already have the black cloth napkins that they wrap your silverware in, just give me another if I ask for it. The food tasted fine, but the service was just so weird. I don't plan on visiting East Glacier Park anytime soon, but if I'm ever here again I would be surprised if Serrano's is still open if the service I received is similar to how they treat all their customers. read more

Went for dinner bc I grew up here and it has been amazing in the past. Came back after 10 years to indulge. I ordered the Wagyu carne asada as a taco which was 35.00 totally fine. My sisters boyfriend ordered the fried chili relleno and my sister ordered the street corn and a chicken taco. My carne asada showed up as a dry piece of steak not sliced up thin at all like carne asada is supposed to be. They had a seasoning on it and I think that's why they tried to called it carne asada but it was incredibly bland. Also, Wagyu is supposed to have fat integrated within the meat, there was no fat at all, the server said they trimmed it off but that didn't make any sense. The fat adds a ton of flavor but this had none. My sisters street corn was only corn salsa and it was cold. I asked the server about it and she said that's their version of it but they also call it a corn salsa. It was in a slightly bigger ramekin for 6.00! How can they have one dish but say its works as 2 different dishes???!! It is 100% not street corn, there's no cotija cheese, no white cream sauce and had no flavor. Very misleading but our server didn't seem to care. My sister only ate a few bites of it, I only ate a few bites of my steak. And her boyfriend ate half of the chili relleno and said it tasted like a churro and that it was sweet and said you couldn't taste the chili at all. We ended spending 100.00 but we're still really hungry after. This place is definitely frequented by tourists so maybe that's why they don't care about the quality bc they know they don't need repeat customers. It was extremely disheartening and disappointing bc this place was amazing. Hands down the best Mexican I've had. In small towns, I generally feel like all Mexican restaurants are the same, and I am always underwhelmed. This was NOT the case! The food was incredible. This is a popular Mexican restaurant in East Glacier and we had to wait about 35 minutes to be seated. You can order drinks at the bar and sit in the back patio which is covered and heated as you wait. We started with a pitcher of huckleberry margarita. They didn't skimp on the alcohol as we were feeling pretty toasty after a couple drinks of this! We ordered the jalapeño bean dip, a cup of Serrano's Diablo Stew, and the Plato El Jefe. The jalapeño bean dip came out immediately. It was the most disappointing item we ordered where it tasted like standard refried beans - no taste of the jalapeño or cheddar cheese. I would suggest maybe adding some bits of both as a topping to give it that extra kick. They gave plenty of tortilla chips which was nice for our other plates. The stew was quite flavorful and hearty, almost like a sauce. Not spicy for us and there was no cilantro topped or tortillas given with it. They had also ran out of chalua for hot sauce so we had to resort to tabasco sauce. Plato El Jefe came with 1 chile rellleno, 1 chicken enchilada, and a 6oz sirloin steak served with a side of guac, sour cream and tortillas. The steak was OK, cut was pretty lean, but the other two items were solid (kind of meshed together in flavor) but making mini burritos with them and then dipping in the stew was pretty good. After a long day's hike and drive, this hit the spot to ensure a well rested night. read more

Very disappointing. They add a 3% "inflation fee" that isn't clearly explained, and a 20% gratuity that's automatic. We didn't know about these charges until after we finished. The manager was rude when we asked for clarification. We won't go back. read more

The food was honestly really good, but our selections were limited as they were out of bison and fish so our only options were vegetarian, chicken thigh, and carne adovado (spicy pork) for meat/main course. The queso was great, chips were crisp. I had the huckleberry margarita, it was tasty. They give you two cups and a glass jar of water but it's lukewarm and tap as it has a weird taste. You have to be willing to wait and be very patient as it takes a very long time for the food to come out. We ordered our queso and chips about 10 minutes before our main order was taken, then it came out right before our main meal did about 35-40 minutes later. We arrived before the dinner rush and had our order in but others that got there after us got their food first and it was just a disorganized setting. Outstanding! While visiting from Whitefish, we were surprised to see a new menu that accompanied the new-ish ownership. At first, we were disappointed that a historic staple changed the menu after so many years of great food. As soon as we took the first bite though, we were blown away. Literally best nachos both of us had ever eaten. We also got the Mexican Salad and could immediately taste every ingredient, as it was perfectly placed in that salad. Having come from a family who owned one of the most revered Mexican restaurants in Southern California, my standards are hardly ever met. Serrano's over-exceeded expectations and we can't wait to go back. Service was pretty good and the ambiance great and what you would hope for in a little Mexican cafe... but the food was everything. read more

We went here twice during our visit to East Glacier Park. The first time we went, we ordered Carne Asada (beef), but received Carne Adobada (pork), two rather different dishes at different price points. Our server was apologetic and comped us some drinks. Polite staff. The drinks we got (Adventurous Margaritas) are margaritas with huckleberry and jalapeno syrups. Cloyingly sweet, and could use more heat from the jalapeno. Perhaps the other drinks are better. I wasn't a huge fan of the Carne Adobada, but we came back and tried the special of the day, a beef burrito with some fixings, and the Salsa Trio. The burrito was delicious and you get a large portion for the price. It's a no-brainer to go here if you're visiting East Glacier Park. read more

While in town my friends and I were looking forward to a meal at Serranos. We arrived at 8 and were happy to get a table, the place was busy. Waitress came, didn't greet us, give her name or smile for that matter, and we ordered chips and salsa. It was okay; not worth the $8, everything was one note, for having 3 different flavors. My friends ordered tacos and I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas. One friend ordered a side of guac with her food. When delivered, she received pico instead, and when she told the waitress she asked for guac she was told they didn't have any. Not a substitution in our opinion. Didn't use the unasked for pico, was charged for it. My enchilada wasn't flavorful, unless you consider the burnt bits. The worst part was the rice. It was so dry and burnt, it looked like what was at the bottom of a pot and scrapped off. It was inedible, though I made the mistake of taking a bite. I asked the waitress if that is how it's supposed be served. Her response- she didn't know. Must've have been her first day. She said we could ask the manager- the guy who was circulating and talking to most tables, just not ours. Plates never cleared, inedible food at expensive prices, not friendly, charging for food we didn't ask for...I cannot express more, don't eat here. The pizza place next door was much better, whistlestop nearby was great, we all agreed we would rather go to taco John's. read more

The meals are extremely bland.. basically they open a can of black beans with ZERO seasoning/sauce, put it on your plate, serve it to you 2 hrs later and charge you an extreme amount. Cold, tasteless food. terrible wait staff. the waitress got everything wrong, double charged on multiple items, never checked in. bartender took an hour just to serve a pitcher of margs and 1 beer... $40 for a pitcher of margaritas to boot! A woman who lives in East Glacier told us that there is never a line out the door anymore and every night under the old ownership used to have people lined down the street. so sad to see this staple go down hill. maybe infuse some actual Mexican influence into this Mexican restaurant (not mayo version of what they think Mexican should be) and train the staff to do their jobs better if you don't want to completely destroy the amazing reputation this establishment has built up for decades read more

3.5/5 If you do even the bare minimum of research regarding dining in the East Glacier area, you'll happen upon this well-regarded Mexican eatery with an airy patio/deck. I'm a native Texan and have sampled authentic Mexican food as well as our regional Tex-Mex offerings countless times, so I'll give you my honest opinion. Serrano's is a decent take on the tradition, especially when factoring in the relative paucity of ethnic options in the area, but the experience is much better than the food. We started as all such meals should start: with margaritas and chips and salsa. The tequila-laden drinks were just OK--not super strong, and the Cadillac one tasted kind of funky. The tortilla chips themselves were solid, but the mild and watery salsa was disappointing, and I would highly recommend our strategy of ordering the jalapeño salsa and mixing it in to add a refreshing and potent twist. The Chili con Queso was great with a creamy and slightly sweet profile with flavorful chopped chilis mixed in. My wife's Enchilada Especial, blue corn enchiladas with shredded chicken, jack cheese, and salsa were excellent, tangy and smoky with the earthy sweetness of the tortillas shining through. I sadly didn't enjoy my Combinacion de California (cheese and onion enchilada, beef burrito with red sauce, beef taco) as much. The enchilada was OK, the beef in the taco was dry and muted in flavor, and the burrito was under-filled and under-sauced, although the shredded beef was well seasoned. I substituted some sauteed veggies on the side and they were deliciously garlicky. Reflecting on our meal, the food was a bit inconsistent in terms of quality, but the service was well above-average and their outdoor seating area is quite pleasant. Serranos used to be a much loved institution, not only by tourists passing through, but by locals and Montanan's in counties nearby who would make the hour or two trek during the summer to eat at what was once an amazing establishment and about the only good eatery in the surrounding area. After this once beloved restaurant changed hands a few years back, so did the service, quality, and attitude. Not in a positive way unfortunately. Back in the day we would happily wait on the front patio with an excellent margarita or two that wouldn't break the bank. Chatting it up with those from near and far away while the smell of garlic, onion and chili pepper wafted through was a summer rite for those of us on our way to or from GNP, the Flathead Valley, or just as the final destination. Serranos was always busy with a wait time sometimes exceeding an hour or longer. When our names on the list were called we would slide into a cozy booth, and moments later would come a basket of homemade fresh warm tortilla chips and some amazing salsa. That is no more. Now you pay if you want chips and salsa, which in my own opinion is a terrible business move. Also, who does that? I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve some free chips and salsa. I am not a penny pincher by any means, but I will never pay for a basket of microwaved pre bought tortilla chips and awful salsa again. This may sound like I'm nitpicking, but, that being the very first negative interaction leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and unfortunately the problems don't end there. Drinks. What was once an affordable cerveza or margarita has become priced gouged items as well. 1 single margarita costing around ten+ dollars in a small rocks glass is not feasible for some, so the only other option is to get a pitcher of margaritas, which is cheaper than by the glass, but is also going to ring out as a big chunk of the bill. It feels like you're getting conned. There were amazing dishes like the seafood enchiladas, or the Rojo Diablo stew which you knew had been made with love and hard work, and nothing but the freshest ingredients. The previous owners always procured fresh ingredients and made everything to order. No artificially dyed yellow cheese or processed food items that would sit under a heat lamp until ready to serve. Many weekends there would be a special with fresh red snapper, halibut, or something else amazing- always fresh and always worth the money. The seafood enchiladas were to die for with hearty pieces of shrimp, scallops and real crab meat. It doesn't taste fresh anymore, the serving sizes have been reduced, and the cost has almost doubled. They did away with the ala cart menu, so no more adding a side tamale either. Lame If the owners happen to read this, I would wish for them to heed just this small advice below. 1. Don't try to fix what isn't broken. 2. Don't bite the hand that feeds you- aka if you aren't treating your loyal and local repeat customer base well, you're better off shuttering the whole place. They have been there for you through tumultuous times, through the thick and the thin, and will continue to do so if you treat them right instead of price gouging them as if they're one visit tourists who will never be back. 3. You could be making a large profit hand over fist if you'd have left things the way they were instead of trying to be greedy. Passed through East Glacier and found the best Mexican Restaurant in town to eat!! The place seems to always be packed, so be ready to wait a bit for a table! But don't worry, bar is always open to get some drinks. Had the huckleberry margarita and it was so good!!! They had lots of drink options and they were all amazing. To eat, i got the bug burrito with steak which was do delicious. It was stuffed to the max and i took home more than half of it! Overall, very delicious place and would highly recommend. My only downer of the night was our waitress. She was extremely rude since the second we were seated until we left.
