Finally got a chance to eat at a Top Ten restaurant in Columbus and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the "Chalupa" which was delicious and for $7 not a bad deal. Then I ordered the Bengali Egg Florentine. This is one of my favorite meals in a while. I love the use jhal Muri because eating it in the salad took me back 17 years to eating Jhal Muri around Dhanmoundi Lake and hanging with my Bengali Friends. The Warm Aloo Tika was a nice flavor as well and reminded me of my time in Dhaka. The bourbon yogurt was delicious and I would have loved to have a side of that as well. I was expecting the meal to come with some of these options as sides and not mixed in the salad, but I am glad it was mixed. The flavor together were blissful. I enjoyed the cocktails as well as I had the Fall and my wife has the play on Pina Colada. My wife ordered the lamb dumplings which she wishes the sauce came on the side but she tends to eat dumplings without sauce. Now the price of everything is $2-5 more than I usually like to pay, but for a date night that happens 2-3 times a year-This place works. read more

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! The decor, the amazing craft cocktails, the food, the service. It was all 5 Star. If you appreciate thoughtful cocktails this place is a must. I had the rose petal and it was very interesting and good. We all enjoyed our drinks. Meals around the table were the barramundi, burger, and crispy ribs. They do everything different! The burger had marrow and bacon mixed into the beef. The fish had a loverly side of curry farro. We will be back for sure!!!! I just want to preface this review with the fact that even though I didn't give it 5-stars, I am absolutely returning and trying more items on the menu. I had heard great things about the restaurant and the chef, so I was dying to check it out. The space is gorgeous--the bar and restaurant had a clean, art deco feel, and would be a beautiful setting for a nice dinner or just drinks with friends. The dining area did feel a little small--there was one large family-style table, several booths to seat small groups, and only a handful of small tables for couples. If you're in a group of 4-8 people and make reservations, it would be ideal. The menu was small, but in many ways it made it easier to make decisions about what we wanted. There wasn't an overarching culinary theme, but it did have a nice mix of elevated American dishes and ethnic dishes. We were generally happy with everything we got, but we also enviously stared at the plates brought to the people next to us. The highlight was a salmon special that I ordered. I don't think I've ever tasted cooked salmon that was so tender. The only plate that was a bit lacking to me was the spicy Lamb dumplings. Being born and raised in Sichuan, I was hoping those dumplings would hit the spot, but they just fell short. Still, I commend the chef for even having them on the menu. My only other complaint is that the portion sizes are a little all over the place. The dumplings were in the entree plates section of the menu, but seemed to be significantly smaller in portion than the other items in the same section. Overall I loved my experience at Service Bar, and can't wait to go back to try more dishes. This is easily on my top 5 list of new up-and-coming, innovative restaurants. Unfortunately, the Yelp reviews aren't doing this place any favors. My husband and I went for an early Valentine's Day celebration and were pretty disappointed in our food. The space is cool (I loved the look!), my drinks were delicious (my husband's old fashioned wasn't his favorite), and I thought the service and timing of dinner was nice. The tacos had an odd assortment of flavors, there was something overpowering about the ribs, and the pimento dip was delicious but glorified buffalo chicken dip - and the pork rinds that came with it were a little greasy. If I didn't know this place had 4.5 stars I think it would have been a fine dining experience. But my expectations were high and I left disappointed. Womp. read more

Excellent! We tried so many different thing and everything was fantastic! We had the ribs as a starter, which were great. I had the burger, which is definitely right up there with one of the best burgers I had ever had. My wife had the tacos which were pretty tasty. They could use some salsa ;) the couple we were with had the gnocchi with was very tasty and rich and the lamb dumplings which looked amazing. We had the chocolate mousse dessert and it was just enough sweet and very light. We also had the cinco leche on the House. Go with the chocolate mousse!! I went to Sevice Bar based on a friend's recommendation, and I was not disappointed. Meal was started with Che Guava. For those who love fruity drinks, this is a must have. I could have easily drank few. Service Bar offers a regular and a specialty menu, and we got dishes from both. The Cheese and Poof had to be ordered because I was intrigued by the Poofs. My expectation was higher than reality because I found the cheese to be salty; yes, I am sensitive to salt. Nevertheless, it was an interesting dish and worth trying. My favorite dish was eggs florentine. The Bombay Toastie would be another must have. Indian spices were in both dishes, but not over powering, rather flavorful. For dessert, the one dish that I am willing to visit Service Bar specifically is Mango Creme Brulee with Thai Ice Tea. Wow! Just Wow!!! Great food combines with awesome service- 5 stars!!! read more

I went in with high expectations based on the interesting menu and prices. I left pretty disappointed. The service was OK-server was nice but it took 15 min to get drinks another 15-30 to get an appetizer. We didn't see our meal til over an hour after arriving. The cheesy poof (pimento) is amazing. The Mongolian tofu was decent but small portion for $16. The veggie wontons (server said there would be 6 and there were only 4) were very very small and definitely not worth $15. They had good flavor. The drinks were okay but my OYO vodka drink off of the menu had too many flavors going on I could barely finish it. It was nice to try something new but I won't be back. $85 for the amount of food felt wrong. read more

Two words: Old fashioned. I don't mean the style of the restaurant either, I mean the drink. You can tell the space was originally a distillery, as everything is very industrial, but the grand bar, with its display of numerous spirits, really offsets the vibe of the place. I went with a flight of cocktails, the bartender kind enough to give me a video walk-trough of the component parts of the drinks and how they create balance. I ordered the carrots 10 ways and the cheesy brisket crunch. The carrot plate was gorgeous, different varietals and preparations of the vegetable decorating a large circular plate. The cheesy brisket was more like a gordita from Taco Bell, elevated with real BBQ meat and a double crunch layer. Overall, quite tasty all around, check them out. read more

Do you ever go to a place that is so superb, and then you see some poor reviews? You curiously read said reviews and then your snob kicks in and thinks these people clearly just don't get it? That's the case with the few bad reviews for this place. C'mon folks. Also, "hard to find" "parking issues" and "waits for a table" aren't restaurant issues. They're you issues. Okay. Stepping off my soapbox. I called to get reservations and they were BOOKED. They did have something at 915 so I grabbed it. They also have first come first serve at the bar. We got there at 9 and there were two seats at the bar. We were going to wait for a table but the bar was perfectly comfortable, and, tbh, the communal table seemed too wide so my friend and I wouldn't be able to converse as easily. We ordered 3 things to share. The Cheese and Poof...because well it's Pimento spread. Comes with pork rinds and hot sauce. It was rich, of course, but delicious. I wish the pork rinds were a bit smaller as they were difficult to handle but still very good. Something to share for sure as, for one it's bit much.. My friend go the Lamb Wontons which we liked but it was a little sauce heavy so I think the lamb was lost in it. Now...NOW....the CHEESY BRISKET CRUNCH. WHAT THE ACTUAL....So delicious. Perfect. two tacos...two BIG tacos. So delicious. Worth every cent of the 17 bucks. They also have a flip side with vegetarian options and vegetarian versions of of some of these favorites. I can't wait to go back to try more. The server was cute, friendly and super helpful. Had a little bit of a crush by the end of the night. And the place itself is beautiful. read more

To start with, I have been a fan of OYO since their first batch of whiskey. We made it into Service Bar for the first time last weekend and it was as impressive as that first sip of OYO whiskey. The cocktails left me speechless. "All the best words" clearly used up all the best words because I don't know how to describe it. I have been a fan of mezcal cocktails since my first trip to Consecha, and I thought they and Curio had the market cornered on these unique drinks. Service Bar brings a level of perfection I have not experienced even at the best of Columbus cocktail bars. You would think that the cocktails would remain center stage at a place like this leaving the food as a supporting cast that needs little recognition. Not true. To start with, the roasted potato gnocchi tops even the lamb gnocchi at Marcella's (which if you haven't tried it, takes Italian cooking to a new dimension). Then let's talk about the Cheesy Brisket Crunch. You know how Taco Bell commercials convince you their tacos should taste amazing? Then you realize quite the opposite if you give in to their advertising magic. The Cheesy Brisket Crunch is everything you dreamed a cheesy gordita crunch should taste like but didn't. Finish it out with a fully satisfying dessert served in a flower pot with a piece of basil. You had me at OYO but then I found so much more. Well done Middle West. Well done. read more

We had a great experience at Service Bar. I wasn't expecting things to be as well-run as they were since this is so new, but the service was great and, most importantly, the food was excellent. One of the best burgers in Columbus and the fries were perfect--triple cooked! The cocktail I had was really well done, and they even have a decent beer selection. I'll definitely be back. read more

I have NEVER posted a food review EVER! I have dined at some of the most well regarded chef driven restaurants in Columbus Ohio over the past 20 years along with some of the most notable and highly recognized restaurants in The United States- chicago, SF, new york, yountville, hell.. I did a shot of sambuca at Le Hales with Tony Bourdain... Tonight at Service Bar my wife and I had such a great experience I felt it needed to be known. Our service was top notch- very educated on the products and quick to lend a recommendation when asked. The drinks were clean, crisp and on point. The house Manhattan lacks a little punch but the flavor profile of the Old Fashioned is unique in it's own and familiar to the experienced bourbon drinker but surprises the palet with interesting and new flavor profiles that highlight the house made spirit. Bone marrow and toast app was on point, flavorful and not over barring to my wife a first time comsumer. Scallop ceviche was a textural masterpiece! The halibut entre packed a flavorful punch with good balance of heat and acidity and a great salty component from the soy rice noodles. My wife's duck dish (2 ways) may have been one of the best duck dishes I've ever had, period. Crispy, salty, fatty and acid... perfectly cooked and tender. The duck duck rice as the accompaniment was the highlight of the dish with notes of ginger, scallions and duck fat. Balance is key when dealing with deck and Service Bar hit a home run tonight. Previous to visiting the restaurant I have owned numerous bottles of OYO/Midwest Spirits. I am certainly elated we decided to visit the location to experience the great service and creative/flavorful, balanced combinations of sumptuous food coming out of a very inspired and highly skilled kitchen. And... It was my birthday dinner.... a calming opportunity to spend time with my wife in a great atmosphere minus our 4 wonderful but sometimes challenging children. I've been dying to try Service Bar after hearing about the chefs take on Taco Bell's cheesy Gordita crunch. It was totally worth all thy hype. Tasted like something you'd get at Taco Bell just a million times better. I got the Che guava for my dinner cocktail. Very pretty and not too sweet. For our main meal we went with the whole fried chicken. There were parts that were fried, parts that were tandoori and other parts just chopped up and mixed in. It came with some cauliflower, hard boiled eggs and naan bread. The cauliflower was to die for. It was spicy and had a strong curry flavor. The naan bread was reminiscent to a yeast roll. Soft and slightly sweet. The fried chicken had a great crispness but was also sweet. Almost too sweet but still tasty. I'm sure whatever the chef puts out is to die for and I definitely want to go back and try more. I loved how light and airy the restaurant felt. It's small so definitely make a reservation. Did a double date night at Service Bar and enjoyed the food thoroughly. Among other things, I tasted the Cheese & Poof, Bread & Spread, and Short Ribs. Everything was great. We also ordered a few items off the secret menu, unfortunately not everything was available (Duck was not available) and we had to settle for alternative items. They also were out of some of their beer selections that evening, which was also a bit of a let down. Regardless, the food was tasty, and the ambiance trendy, and servers were nice. In town to watch our hometown Toronto Maple Leafs play the Columbus Blue Jackets, we did some research on this beauty of a dinner spot in Columbus. WOW, did it ever live up the hype. Every dish was perfect! We ordered: * Veggie Dumplings- perfect texture and great level of spice. Dough was incredible, and the filling was light and flavourful * Cheesy Brisket Crunch and Veggie Version- WOW! The brisket version was outrageously delicious. Incredibly cheesy, both melted and cold cheese, perfect texture (both hard and soft style taco shell), and perfectly cooked and seasoned brisket. A must order. The veggie version with sweet potato was insanely satisfying and a true flavour bomb * Short Rib with Bao Bun- WOW! Just wow. Normally, I don't love fatty short rib but it worked so well in this dish. Sweet, hoisin sauce and perfectly cooked meat to go with the softest, chewiest most comforting bao bun one could eat. We were far too stuffed for dessert and if we ever find ourselves back in Columbus, we would absolutely order everything again (and maybe more!?!). Best spot in Columbus! This was our first time at service bar and we just stopped in for two of their craft cocktails. I chose a cocktail that used their distillery made Vim & Petal Gin and my wife chose one that utilized their OYO vodka. Both had a really good taste. All staff are really nice, and bartender recognized us from him working somewhere else so we are very happy to see him. Super impressed with this place! The big wooden bar is gorgeous and the entire aesthetic and design of the whole place is beautiful. The cocktails were pretty, the food was delicious. Service was OK too. Our server tried to sell us on way too much food so I'm glad we didn't listen. What we ordered was plenty - one appetizer and an entree each. She suggested we order family style - several appetizers and split several entrees as to try a lot of menu items. What was comical was we ordered an appetizer called the Cheese and Poof. It was the LOUDEST dish I've ever ordered. I don't know if it was just our table or if everyone could hear it, but the sound of the crackle when you bit into a "poof" was deafening. Drinks were amazing. Service was good... but it was hard to get info about the food. They refer you to their Instagram page to see specials.... suppose to be cool, but everyone at our table found it tacky to have to pull out their phone. It is really loud, very expensive and chaotic. When we were seated, the hostess told us we needed to vacate our table by 7:30. The people around us heard that and thought that it was so odd. My husband had the short ribs, pretty flavorful but really fatty. Also it was his birthday and they offer no dessert or anything special. So we got a creme brûlée but it was awful. We shared it wasn't so good... instead of offering to change it out, she told us, oh, it a cheesecake creme brûlée. No wonder..., I very much dislike cheesecake. read more

We came here for my birthday celebration dinner. It was a packed house, but not wildly uncomfortable, even though we were seated at the center table. We were sitting close to two other parties on either side of us, but we all made it work. My cocktail was amazing (I got the Oaxacan 75), and our entrees were delicious. I ordered the Mongolian Glazed Short Rib, which was the perfect size for me, and came with the most delicious and pillowy bao knots. My husband ordered the Black Pepper Wagyu Zabuton from from the secret menu. The peppers were a little dominant, which my husband didn't love - but he still ate most of it! Topped the meal off with the white chocolate bavarois with Oreo soil. The presentation was adorable, and it was just enough for both of us. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. I had Duck Duck rice which is in their secret menu. It is the best poultry entree I had in US. Especially, the duck breast is well toasted. The skin is crispy. The flavor is well increased by toasting. I also love the sauce and the rice, which are in kind of the southeast asian style. Stopped into Service Bar for some drinks and small plates with my pals. Love that they have customized their full menu to meet vegetarian and gluten free diet needs! (Yes, a separate FULL menu for each.) Plus plenty of vegan options. How awesome is that? Really enjoyed the pimento cheese with tapioca poofs and the vegetable dumplings. Can't wait to go back for the tofu with Alabama white sauce and their fried and pickled broccoli and cauliflower dish. Cocktails are, of course, stellar. Negroni is my go-to. read more

Grest freaking drinks and food! You won't regret it. A little on the expensive side but worth it!

The name of this establishment is puzzling given our first experience. While the cocktail (Fancy Bartender) was excellent, that was the high point of a lackluster dinner. Lamb dumplings were very tasty after scraping off some of the punitively spicy sludge they were swimming in. Surely the halibut special was terrific when first served, but we were left without any plates (or wine) while the fish turned cold and tough. The final tab was also a bit of a gulp given that we each split the appetizer and main, plus two glasses of wine apiece: $130. Doesn't make me want to hurry back. read more

Exceptional cuisine. Chef Barua is radiating talent and ambition--even his misfires are spectacular. This may be the first Bangladeshi-world fusion restaurant I've seen. Carrots done ten ways were sublime, as was the beef and queso (which is as good as everyone says). Superbly attractive restaurant design, though they really don't need powdered soap in the restrooms. Very cool, trendy bar. We got there shortly after it opened and snagged 4 seats at the bar for our group of 5, as tables were all reserved. They have a lot of unique, handcrafted drinks, which make sense as it's part of a distillery (from what I was told). I'm not a dark liquor fan (no whiskey/bourbon for me), but throughout our time there I ordered the Strawberry Feels Forever & the Endless Summer. Both were beautiful & fantastic. We also had the cheese poofs & bread/butter for happy hour apps. The cheese/poofs were tasty & interesting. The flavored butters were also unique and helped elevate bread. Since we were at the bar, the service was great. One of the bartenders told us the background of the beautiful, ornate wood and mirror bar- it came from an old bank in Chicago & they refinished it. One of the original mirrors was still in tact, which was very cool. The only drawback is it's pricey for more than a drink or two, but for all of the handcrafted/handmade mixers, it's worth it. read more

Had a pick-up, but they mistakingly gave my order to another car. They re-made the order, and, to make up for it, dropped in their Maple Syrup and a choc cake (really good!). BEST customer service I have had in a LONG time. I've had so many experiences where businesses screw up a purchase and actually have an attitude when you ask them to fix it, and nearly never do something to make up for it. Great job, Service Bar! Beautiful decor, food & cocktails were delicious - service was very slow for a Sunday evening, but I'm very happy to have this addition in the city. Got the Rosé Petal & Endless Summer cocktails, but I think my mom won with the Fall Natural. Skip the bread & butter, it's nothing special. The lamb dumplings were great but I wish the portion had been maybe one or two more dumplings more. Mom got the Mongolian short rib which we thought was fantastic. Not very impressed with the cinco leches cake at all. Skip the appetizers and dessert, and fill up on their beautiful cocktails & mains. read more
