At 6:15 PM on 5/17/16 I asked my wife if it was just me or was it getting hot in here? I checked the thermostat to discover that it was at 80 and climbing yet it seemed to be running. I rushed to the outside unit that was making a humming sound and the fan wasn't turning. I shut it down and looked for someone to fix it. I called Service Experts and they dispatched Dan who arrived around 7:30 but for him the unit worked flawlessly. He did a systems check couldn't tell me what was wrong because it was working. Unfortunately, this was the old heat pumps last cycle it made the humming sound once more. I called Dan and he quickly returned to discover that the fan had expired. He pointed out that the unit was nearing the end of its lifespan and that the fan was a special order item. He left at around 10:30PM and told me that he would have Service Experts send someone out in the morning to discuss options. The next morning my wife told me to get several bids. I called two other heat pump dealers in the area who told me they'd have a representative call me that morning. It must be a very busy time for heat pump sales because I still haven't heard from them. Thomas, however arrived at 9AM. He seemed to know a great deal about the systems he sold and my old unit; he then explained that he had started as an installer. This impressed me that the company drew from within. We came to the agreement that investing money in my old unit was a poor choice. He offered me several options and I live by the philosophy, 'Buy it once.' and I went with the top of the line unit. After we settled on the price and the equipment Thomas didn't leave, but started making phone calls. He pulled Dan and Paul for the remainder of the day, after discovering that all of the company trucks were unavailable Thomas elected to use his own personal truck to pick up the parts. He left my house around 10:00AM and around noon Dan came in and started disassembling my old heat pump. Not long after Paul arrived and started removing my old air handler. Thomas arrived about an hour later with my new gear! SAME DAY SERVICE! Because of the way my house was built and the modifications they had to make to accommodate the new equipment it was nearly 11:30 PM when they finished but I must admit that this system works a great deal better than the old unit did. Not only did they replace my 12-year-old heat pump and air handler they also replaced all of the copper/PVC piping and the underground wiring! They also made sure to clean up behind themselves. My son was graduating high school and I had people showing up and the house needed to be comfortable. Aaron came in the next day and cleaned and disinfected my ducts and hand washed every vent and return cover in the house. In the following days if I had a problem, they immediately dispatched someone to take care of it! I'd like to thank Dan, Thomas, Rick, Aaron and Mike who all came together to make my home a great deal more comfortable and energy efficient. We have a service contract where we pay monthly and they are to come do maintenance. We have scheduled maintenance 4 times since February and 3 times they canceled and now today, the 4th, the window in which they are to arrive has passed and no show. On Friday when they canceled the 3rd time I asked for a manager and was told one wasnt available but would call me first thing Monday. It is now a Wednesday no call and I just called and was told ok will.let manager know you are waiting for a call. Absolutely unacceptable! read more

My A/C stopped providing cool air late at night. The company that installed my HVAC system advised me early the next morning that they no longer service my area, and the company that they recommended only had a 3.2 star rating - so NO GO! I asked my next door neighbor who they used, which was Service Experts, took one look at their Google reviews, and called them immediately. Tyrus arrived about 3 hours later (super fast considering it's hot summer in FL), and immediately got to work. He diagnosed the problem, repaired the capacitor, checked the entire system, and answered all my questions. He was fast, efficient, and clearly knew the business. I signed up for an annual preventive maintenance plan and am as pleased as I can be with Service Experts and their 5* service! Thank you for making my home cool again! read more

Do not do business with this company. I had them install top of the line systems in 2 of my homes spending almost 20,000 in 2020 When the one year warranty was up I went with their maintenance program offered to those with new systems. Gave you parts and labor, priority emergency service calls, and included attack, coming out twice a year If you let the policy lapse, you could not take part in this top-of-the-line maintenance you would have to go to their standard maintenance. When I went to renew year 2 I was informed they stopped that program (one of the reasons I went with them was this program) now they only offered standard maintenance for almost the same cost. For those of us who had the old maintenance contract they threw in filters (I mean, how much could they possibly cost four dollars but it was something) they put the system in. I really liked I did like the technician Steve who came to my house every time. Six months ago, I renewed again and everything went fine at my maintenance. When they called to schedule this time I found out my technician had quit and he had been there for many years. They sent a young man who was very nice and had only been with the company a few weeks, but he did a great job. He told me I needed to replace the filter when I said no, you guys do he informed me they don't replace the filters anymore. He's doing his job so I called the office The first lady talked over me and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with Josie who has been there a long time and is very nice. She informed me there's new management and they said no more filters even for those who were in the middle of a contract. They didn't care that the old management had given it to us. I hope that four dollars was worth the maintenance on both of my homes as well as not to do the new installs on the two properties we just purchased. I may not have liked it but I would understand if at my renewal they said we don't change filters anymore, but it is illegal to change the terms of a contract in the middle of the contract. I paid them upfront 100%. The new management couldn't care less. This used to be a company with reasonable management excellent long-term technicians and competent office staff but not anymore. They also now send a sales rep to try and upsell you when the technician is almost done the maintenance This is something brand new. I had them maintaining my units and each technician that serviced my units made comments about what they did to my units. When I bought my 2 HVAC systems in 2017 the salesman pressured me into buying an expensive system. The salesman was a liar for just about everything he told me. Do not fall for the "if you buy it today I can discount the equipment X amount." The air handlers were not installed properly and failed a couple years later. The technicians are hit and miss. Service Experts has some very good technicians and some terrible technicians. On numerous service maintenance appointments multiple technicians could not understand why the previous technician did what they did regarding the plumbing of the drain lines. They plumbed both air handlers to one drain line and I was constantly having plugged drain line. One air handler had to be replaced due to poor installation. In addition, the coil in one air handler was installed upside down and was sitting in water causing corrosion. One technician noticed this after 6 years of maintenance. He made a comment that they were not servicing the air handler properly since he couldn't remove the access panel to properly service the unit. He had to modify the hangers to allow the panel to be removed. They did replace the coil at their expense. I wonder what damage was caused to my very expensive system due to poor workmanship. I bought Lennox and the compressors outside have corroded coils to the point the technicians will not wash them down in fear it will cause the fins to get removed from the water pressure. I spend a lot of money with Service Experts and received one problem after another. By the way, I purchased the high end maintenance service plan which they decided to eliminate after I had it for several years. I do not recommend Service Experts because several of the technicians are not experts and caused damage to my very expensive systems. I ended my maintenance plan with them out of frustration plus it was not reasonable. I have hired another group to take care of my system. I still have 2 years remaining on my warranty and will wait until the systems fail then replace them with another company. read more

I have been a Service Expert Customer since they bought my local HVAC dealer. I have had great experiences with the HVAC side of the business, but have had 2 really bad experiences with their plumbing side. The first is when they installed a new hot water heater, a year later during an inspection it was found that the installer used PVC and miscellanous brass fittings which was causing a leak and making the heater rust. Was told that person was fired and the company set me up with a new heater and a new warranty. Just recently I scheduled an appt to have my shower faucet cartridge removed and installed. Was given a 8-12 appt window. 12 came no call no show. I called the company and was told the plumber apparently walked off the job. Wasnt told never had any communication and wasted a day off from work. Talked to the manager for a reschedule was told they would call me. Never called. So now I am done with this company. read more

1 star for same day service. -4 stars for charging me $300 to change the fan capacitor 3 months ago. While hard selling me that I take out a $20k loan to buy a new unit and duct from them. Receipt states its "new capacitor", well it's rusted on top and obviously one they pulled from a prior replacement. Shark alert! Also, left the float switch on its side it would eventually short. This company is not worth it, I have to get a new system through them which seemed like a good deal at the time. I constantly have to keep going and setting my account up for automatic payments several times my account has been past due $700 or more because their system keeps taking me off of autopay they call and harass you for payment for their faulty payment system, I never get any notices in the mail regarding my past due balance, and they take forever to update your payment on their site so the amount due never reflects the correct price, for instance my last payment was almost $1000 because once again their system keeps kicking out my credit card that I have on auto pay but if I look in the current balance section it says I only owe $200. I can wait to be done with this company and I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!!. read more

Customer service does not know how to talk to customers, especially customers who are frustrated. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I call up with a question or problem and I finally get to talk to a real Customer Service representative I don't want an attitude and a bunch of excuses. I am aware that things do not always work out how we like, and that sometimes more time is needed. But the customer service rep could have made an effort to make me (the customer) feel like they were aware of my issues and were working to fix them. Its been over a month with no solution. I've talked to numerous people, heard numerous promises. No one at Service Experts wishes to stand up and take ownership of a simple issue. They hand it off from one person to another. We are talking replacing TWO light bulbs. I have booked three appointments, arrived without bulbs first time, stood me up on a four hour window second time, the third time they stood me up calling 40 minutes after the window closed. I am a property manager. This company posts fancy ads online. We had a technician come out on June 30, 2017, and he diagnosed the issue as needing a new thermostat. Our tenant in the house authorized the repair, and SERVICE EXPERTS charged us $450 to replace the existing thermostat. I googled the product that they installed, and it's available online with free shipping for $97, so this company charged us over $350 for an hour of their time to install a thermostat. Had to wait 5 days for the part to come in. Expected that when it did they would come fix the A/C when it came in like they said they would. Got a phone call saying that they received the part but didn't have any availability for someone to come out for another 2 days. We finally got our A/C up and running but it took a week. My best advice to this business is- if you know there is a heat advisory and you are waiting for a part to come in, make sure you have availability for your client the day it comes in. Knowing they had the part but couldn't schedule us in for a 20 minute replacement was really frustrating. Two employees came out to fix my mother's HVAC. My mom presented her credit card to pay them, and they said they couldn't process it. She paid them from her emergency cash fund. They gave her a phony receipt and the company threatened to send her to collections for nonpayment. They also later charged her credit card twice for $500 each without her permission. She scrambled together another $1000 and sent it to them to avoid collections, while she pursued a resolution. They sent her to collections anyway for the full amount, despite my mother having a proper receipt for the extra money she paid. They are not returning communications, and we are having to go through law enforcement, the courts, and their corporate headquarters in Texas.. read more

Bought our hvac unit from them , should have shopped around that was my fault . Unit is approx 4 years old . Unit was not working , tech came out and said there was a leak . He did a repair to the leak . The cost for that was 888.00 . At that time I asked the tech how do you know what you did will work . I then asked them to come back and follow up to be sure unit is not leaking . The came back in about a month and said everything was fine . A week later the unit wasn't working again . They came back out and sure enough the unit was leaking again . This time they replaced the coil which was covered under warranty but the repair cost was 1300.00 . It took 2 techs an hour 1/2 . The evening before my four year old ac went out. I wanted to find a company to repair it so reached out to them. They had a tech come out to look at it. Upon checking it out he determined I had a coolant leak and tried to find it. After examining the unit I was told that he couldn't determine where the leak was coming from and it was a sizable leak and we would need to run tests to determine where the leak was. Shortly after a sales associate arrived and I was told in order to fix the leak it would be 4,000-6,000 to repair it and I would be better off replacing the whole unit which would be around 10,000 but not to worry because they have a low cost payment plan. After hearing their pitch I was very close to pulling the trigger and falling for buying a whole new unit. But anytime I am quoted such a large number my instinct is to get a second opinion. I am so glad I did. Another company came out and the tech was able to find the leak within five minutes and the issue was my common port cover tube rubbed against my suction line causing the leak. He diagnosed the problem and repaired it for $710. After I told him what this company told me he informed me that their whole quote was a lie. Which is extremely disappointing. After reading other reviews it seems like this is a common rouse. Outside of that the employees of the company were polite and I am sure this is just what they are trained to do by their company. This company preys on older people. Their service is they come to your house and look at your A/C once a year for $150 a shot. Then they charge you $150 for a $50 airfilter. They check the equipment, but don't do any real service. What if you took your car in for a tune up but they did not replace the air filters, plugs, oil or anything else and you paid $565? What's the point? Call someone else out once a year with a $60 service fee and save yourself a lot of money. I am my dad's guardian. He is 85. Service Experts calls me when I am not at the house and asks me what to do. I tell them what to do. Then they turn around and ask my dad (and upsell him) what to do, and they do whatever the person with dementia agrees to do. Then we are on the hook for very expensive bills. They proceeded to tell her that our AC unit needed a new compressor which would cost $3000 and then told her that it wasn't worth it and tried to upsell her a unit that costed around $20,000. First of all, we are not stupid. The average cost of a residential central air conditioning unit is around $6000 not $20,000. For a commercial unit maybe. They then charged her $99 as a diagnostic fee. The very next day we had an honest contractor come and take a look at our air conditioning unit and he said it was just a faulty capacitor. A waste of $50. The tech was a nice guy but before he even looked at anything he was trying to sell me on a whole new unit. He first said it probably is low on Freon and has a leak and it would be $150 just to look for it. I told him just put Freon in it and I'll keep an eye on it. Then told me it needs a new motor module which is $1,200 so I should just buy a new unit. My unit is 5 years old I'm not going to replace the whole thing. I really feel like I paid someone to come to my home and try to sell me. In the end they got their $50 service charge and I still have a broken a/c unit. Recently had all my AC Ducts in the Attic replaced by Service Experts of Cocoa. This is Really Expensive... and so you would expect it to done Correct and Professionally. Took them about 6 hours and they cleaned up and seemed like they were in a hurry to leave . After they left I went up into Garage Attic Space and found Duct Removal and Installation Garbage all over the place. Numerous Tie Wraps, Old Ducting Sections, Mastic Bucket Half Full and Lid, Gloves covered in Mastic Sealer and just discarded up there, Old Connection Brackets etc... I buy an AC unit from Westbrook AC about 7yrs ago and I was offered to buy a maintenance program for the life of the unit (tuneup work for $49/visit) but 3yrs ago Westbrook told me that they wouldn't service the residential units anymore and that this company service experts will take over to do the tuneup service from there, the last 2yrs it was fine no problem; but I make an appointment for July 13th and the person that came to do the service just came rushing and in less that 30min he came inside and told me that there is problem with the unit, even know the unit is been working fine , just make the call for a tuneup, he said the "capacitors" the one inside and the one outside needs to be change , and I said the unit is been working fine but he said they were about to give up and probable it wouldn't "work tomorrow " and I can't believe it but it was very serious and I asked how much it cost and it was $273/each or $546 both, and I said I would get a second opinion but he said you might not have cold air tomorrow , I said I just get back to work after 14month lay off from COVID-19 and he said that he would help and discount $100, so I get hooked and I told him to replace the capacitors, I was there watching when he changed both of them in less that 5 min, and in 45min visit I paid $487.00 , but I was very disappointed and I went to eBay and look for the capacitors and they cost between $12 to $20 , I just get ripped off and I call the company and they just told me that's the rate and he did what's it is supposed to do, they said the labor is the cost of the rate; labor? They don't even paid more than $20 for both of them and they charge me $437 for replacing 2 capacitors that probably wouldn't need to be replaced. Do not use this company unless you have disposable money. They installed brand new AC units in our home less than 5 years ago. We have lost count on the amount of repairs needed since. We thought, maybe we should up our protection plan to save some money..Nope, conveniently for them, little to nothing is covered on warranty or service plans. The service technician came out the very next morning. The unit was working but the IQAir filter installation was blocking air flow to the unit. The two people who came stayed to correct this problem and explained everything to me. They recommended another allergy solution that would work and I contracted for it to be done. Very excellent service and a totally reasonable charge. Even gave me credit for some unused filters I could no longer use. Did not charge for service call. There maintenance contract is also very competitive cf. to others I have seen and I will sign up for it in the future. read more
