I needed a water line run from the side of my house to my pool enclosure. Total distance was 22ft. Total cost of parts at retail pricing $135. I asked how long it would take and was told approximately 3 hours. Then he gave me the estimate $3368. This breaks out to approximately $165 per foot of pipe. If you calculate it per hour minus parts they are charging over $900 an hour for labor. Be Very Careful if you are thinking of having them do any work. Get other estimated. He said that his technician said that he was on the phone with them the whole time but then said his tech called him several times? I explained that when I left the room to go finish starting on gathering other projects we noticed a ton of water on the patio anyway so I went back to the bathroom where his technician was and my bathroom and my bedroom and my patio are flooded. Plumbing on well pump. Needed assistance on a well pump that was installed over 2 years ago. I have had several problems with this pump. I called because we had black water in our toilers and a bubbling noise. Service rep came said wasn't the pump or tank, thought we had a leak in our line to the well or a well issue. Charge $210.00 for a wrong assessment And no water. Don't use this compan. I called a different plumber, he refitted the pvc pipes made some adjustments to switch and we had water within an hour. My mother had MAC5 come and install a gas hot water heater in her home early January of 2025, mid-way through the month she had the roof replaced and the roofers knocked loose the exhaust pipe connecting to hot water tank. She called MAC5 concerned about a gas leak, they sent out a technician who facetimed his manager asking what he should do for a quick fix (as they wanted $300 to lay the exhaust back over the tank) they suggested to tape the hot water heater to the tank so she can use it for now and that it's perfectly safe. The next day the tape melted, the pipe completely came loose again and fumes were leaking straight into the home. I called MAC5 and spoke with Tommy (Project Manager) he said "She's not using the hot water heater right??" I said yes she is and thought it to be safe per your technician. He sounded shocked but then proceeded to say "Oh yes we did that as a temporary fix for her so she can still use it". Frustrating and dangerous as that is I began to explain to him that I could smell gas all throughout the house and was scared of it exploding. I requested a team be sent out immediately (This was around 3:30pm) he said he couldn't do anything about it today and would have to be for tomorrow. They came back out, I paid for them to fix it for $300, upon looking at what they did I was confused and called Daniel Oneill (General Manager), they re-installed the exhaust vent a different way than they did the first time! For starters, the original install the pipe was hanging above the tank about 1" and had nothing holding it to the tank. Yet when they re-install the exhaust vent, they lowered the ventilation pipe almost completely flush with the tank and secured it with a metal strap. While explaining this on the phone with Daniel he interrupted me several times, said to me that there was no gap in the first install and it's completely the same today as it was the initial install (It's not and it's so obvious) and the technician who came out the second time said "This wasn't installed correctly the first time, I'm gonna do it the right way this time" Yet Daniel claims that to be a lie and said he spoke to the Technician Elijah (Second Installer) , so my questions are these, 1. Why would they install the exhaust vent 1" over the tank the first time, with no metal band? 2. Why would they send a technician out who has to facetime their manager for advice on what to do? 3. Why would they tell someone a hot water heater is safe to use when it's leaking gas and fumes straight into your home? 4. Why on the second install, would they drop the pipe so it's flush and attach a metal band? 5. Why would the technician who came out the second time, tell my mom that this exhaust vent wasn't properly installed the first time and that he's "Gonna do it the right way this time" 6. 6. Should the roofing company have to pay for this if it wasn't installed correctly the first time? Should the consumer have to pay for this? The answer is no, but for the safety of my family it had to be done. I just can't believe I'm even having to write this, sitting here thinking my own mother could've died, my dogs and cats poisoned in their sleep after being told everything safe.. It's saddening. On a repipe Max 5 errors 1 - ruined a freshLy painted bedroom with a water leak they caused 2 - installed a shower faucet upside down 3 - installed a sink faucet which leaked after installation 4 - permit failed 5 - kitchen sink leaked after permit fix was done Our pipes burst on 7/31. A plumber from Max 5 came that night and we signed an agreement to have the whole house repiped. The workmen came the next day,Tuesday 8/1, although we were promised water Tuesday, we got cold water on Wednesday 8/2. Wednesday they destroyed a freshly painted bedroom by causing a water leak in the ceiling. On Thursday 8/3, they supposedly finished. Thursday they were called back to fix a sink faucet they installed that leaked. Max 5 didn't put in the permit untill Saturday 8/5 after I called the office asking about a permit. On Monday 8/7 of the following week they finally filed for the permit. Tuesday 8/8 they were called back because a shower faucet they installed was upside down. On August 11th, I contacted Mac 5 to request an estimate for a repair at my 88-year-old mother's home. She is on Social Security, so I was hoping to secure an affordable solution. The issue was that the master bath, toilet and sink were only receiving hot waster, water, with no cold water supply. When their technician called with the estimate, he quoted me over $3,800. I immediately drove to my mother's house to hear his explanation in person. He claimed the toilet required a "major rebuild" because hot water was entering the tank - an expense of over $400. When I asked what a "major rebuild" entailed, it turned out to be nothing more than replacing the inner parts - a simple kit available at Lowe's for under $25 and installable in about 20 minutes. He also proposed installing a new tub waste and overflow with a "access panel", which would require cutting into the back of the shower from the master bedroom wall. When I asked if they would repair, retexture and repaint the drywall afterward his response was simply, "that sounds complicated." As a real estate broker and property manager for over 20 years, I've worked with countless contractors and handymen. NEVER have I received such an inflated estimate for a repair. I ultimately hired another plumbing company who resolved the problem by replacing the cold-water line and a filter in less than an hour and a half - everything works perfectly and the cost was less than 20% of what Mac 5's estimate was. Based on this experience, I will never refer anyone to Mac 5. read more

Felt like a total scam and their quote was WAY over what is reasonable for this work. Looking for a simple toilet swap out and they quoted almost $450 including haul-away (almost $300 without haul away). This is 30 min of work for a qualified technician. Excellent Service and quick turn around on appointments. The plumber spent a good amount of time looking at some potential issues in our home and gave some great recommendations. Once we said no it must've upset them because how ironic our a/c stopped working. Had another company come out and fixed a/c in 5 min. Technician came out to one of my rental properties in Viera. After he diagnosed my tankless water heater issue, he determined that it was "fried", as in no good and I needed a new one. He quoted me three options; between $5100 and $6400. Uh, nope! I had a feeling he was trying to sell me on something that wasn't needed. I asked him to please stop. I told him I was going to call my regular plumber to take a look, which is Hambel's Plumbing. They quickly came out, and after about 45 mins called me to tell me it's fixed and I'm all set. They replaced the regulator for $190. So, I reached out to Mac5 and explained that their technician told me my water heater was no good and I needed a new one, which he tried selling me upwards of $6,400. Also told them Hambel's fixed in 45 min for $190 and I would like a refund of $109 Mac5 charged me. Long and short of it all; No refund. Sorry, but technician spend over an hour there and we should get paid for his time, the manager told me. Finally I said fine, no problem I'll simply dispute the charge and give them this wonderfully crappy review, which seems fitting, given the terrible service provided. Wish I would have looked at all the other similar, bad reviews before calling them. Ugh! Anyhow, buyer beware. Call Hambel's Plumbing. Tell 'em Mike sent you. And by the way, I could buy same complete unit online delivered for $1,150 and have installed. If it really did need to be replaced, Hambel's said they would have been at most 1/3 of of what Mac5 wanted to charge, or maybe even less, like around $1500-$1700 installed. read more

Plus, there was some confusion regarding what it would cost to fix a tripped breaker (diagnostic $471), so we paid the $39 service call and that was it. He told me my main valve was leaking and would probably not shut off in an emergency. Gave me 3 estimates ranging from $1000 to $1700. Asked to have estimate for only the job I was requesting and he quoted me $400. He also told me other companies charge $189 service fee and the only way to recoup that money is to have that company do the work. I had to pay their $39 service fee. Stay far away from this company!! Our downstairs A/C unit was having trouble and wasn't blowing cool air. They sent someone out and he said that there wasn't any freon in the unit and it'd be $850+ to fill it up. I understand Freon is expensive but we ended up sending them away and calling someone else. Horrible follow up communication! After the initial email I received, I have had nothing from the company in terms of contact. The kind woman I spoke to initially deserves a better employer. I was told that a person would call me to schedule an estimate but I've had zero response in over 2 weeks. I have a simple & straight forward install for a whole house generator/transfer switch. The generator is already placed and the distance to the main panel is literally less than 10 feet away inside the garage. You'd think that the very least they'd do is let me know they were incapable of doing electrical work or even estimate the job. But, I guess their lack of communication tells me, and everyone really, they aren't interested in assisting customers. In all honesty, after reading the reviews on Yelp and Google, I wasn't going to contact them at all due to their obvious arrogance and willingness to disparage the customer when they are asked to justify their pricing, normally 3x that of other contractors. But I believe that every company has a fair shot at redeeming themselves and that the negative feedback wasn't earned. I rolled the dice and boy, oh boy was I wrong! For being one of the "fastest growing companies", as they claim, I'm perplexed as to why customers even consider this company for ANYTHING! Our toilet got clogged and I made a mistake to call this team because of the 5 stars review here. It's a big mistake! After few hours, they showed up and told me that my main line got clogged and also the toilet got broken , that they need to fix or change the flange in order to get it stopped leaking water again. The quote to do both works : unclogged the main line and fix the toilet frangle is almost $1400 ( $580 to unclogging the main line). I asked them if they could only unclog the main line and I will ask my handy man come later to fix the toilet and they said NO, they only do both work together. They knew I really need the bathroom work again because it was an airbnb and my guests were unhappy. I sent them away and of course they charged me $89 for doing nothing. My handyman came later to unclog the main line and tell me my toilet didn't have any issues, just the clog made it leaking, once it was unclogged , no more leak! So im a 40 year old disabled vet. Had mac 5 come out for electrical issue the tech was really nice honest guy. Showed me how getting a 2nd whole home surge protector wouldnt add any benefit. I did join the loyalty maintinance program. 2 free ac tune ups a plumbing tune up. Anyway the ac guys come the guy shows me my cold air return isnt enough the builder should have added a 2nd one. He quoted me 308 bucks with the veteran discount. I thought about it thats kinda high but getting on the floor causes me great back pain. So i decided ok go ahead I signed the work order which made it a valid contract. I get a call the morning of yea we cant send a tech out for a 300 dollar job theres bigger and better jobs out there for us. So he says it will be 832 bucks to cut a 20x20 hole in my wall and install a 30 dollar return grate. I called the Florida AG on them I guess I will be getting a check for my 199 bucks for the program I joined back. About to call my lawyer and see if I have a breech of contract here. I did the job myself in 30 min. An experienced tech can do it in under 15 min and they wanted 832 bucks. Im not done wirh these clowns. I didnt have a yelp acct so I couldnt see the reviews. I hired Mac 5 as I was new to the area and needed some help with moving our water softener. They said I needed a new one and gave me a quote for what the technician called the best one on the market. The quote was over $1900 for the softener and over $600 for installation. They conveniently do not put the part numbers on the quote so there is no way of knowing what you are getting. I agreed and found out later that the softener was purchased from a local supply house for around $500 and it took them 2 hrs to install. The softener regeneration failed a few months later so I had it replaced by another company and Mac 5 refuses to warranty it. When I brought up the fact that the mark up on their product was nearly 4x the manager told me that was standard for them. Now I am stuck with a faulty, mediocre water softener that cost me over 2k to install. These guys are way too over priced for me. read more

Hired Mac 5 Services to replace a chandelier in my loft. They quoted me a price and I signed a contract. They were to return the following day to do the job. An hour before they were to show up, the manager called to tell me they misquoted the job and they were not going to come. I drove 2 hours to meet the contractor for the quote and stayed overnight in Orlando to be here when the work was being completed and they were a no show for the appointment.
