It was nice that they came out on a Saturday evening but after the technician's arrival the price went up from $99 to $450 for about an hour's work. After some troubleshooting, the repair was $1,200 to replace a fan motor and capacitors with no warranty or $12,000 to replace the entire system. $280 of that was for the fan blades themselves because "sometimes they're hard to get off without damaging them." On Monday, I made some calls and found the fan locally for $135 and the capacitors for $25 each. I paid an old friend $350 to pick them up and spend an hour to remove the motor, swap out the blades and reinstall it. The capacitors are held in with a nylon wire tie and there's maybe six wires to disconnect and reconnect. I love air conditioning but I'll stay away from Service Experts. read more

Do not get the advantage plan for your hot water heater. I had my hot water heater for years with absolutely no problems. I got a new HVAC and they convinced me to add on the hot water heater. What a huge mistake. I had them come out and check it because the water was not getting as hot. They told me that the thermostat needed to be adjusted. I have had the thing 8months, so this did not make sense. 2 hours after they leave the water heater starts to beep, so loud you can hear it all over the house. When I called service experts, the response was they could do nothing until the morning between 8 and 10am. Why am I paying this exorbitant amount of money for nothing, but sorry customer service. If I had not signed a contract, I would get rid of them in a heart beat. This is so unacceptable in today's market. In conclusion, I would not use any of their services in the future. read more

They left a jumper on and since no one went upstairs for 2 weeks, we didn't know the unit had been running on full cool and the temperature upstairs was 60 deg. They installed the unit in 2017'ish and the wiring looked like a rats nest and was hard to sort out. They will not be back! read more

First, just very bad customer service. Long wait times on phone, inexperienced staff. Second, they bury it in fine print, but if you sign up for the Advantage Plan they put a lien on your home. We had these guys install a new HVAC system in 2014. 2 years later the fan blade fell off and ground up against the inside of the unit. The parts are still under a 10 year warrantee from Lennox, but the labor was only warranteed one year. The 'experts' came and fixed it quickly for over $150, but they said that because the fan had been damaged, eventually it would blow out the motor. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Service Experts. I rent & my property manager never has a sense of urgency about repairs or issues. Having experienced our first batch of winter weather this past weekend, I took matters into my own hands. I had a fairly new HVAC system, put in by a competitor., late last summer. They were inoperable on Friday because of the bad roads & were closed on Saturday - which is normal for them. My heat went out Friday morning. My dog & I managed to stay here, bundled up & using gas logs (which didn't help much). I called Service Experts Saturday morning & they were operating normal. The representative was very friendly on the phone & told me someone would be out as soon as possible. Within two & a half hours, a technician showed up. Ryan was very professional, friendly & knowledgable. He diagnosed the problem quickly. A consultant with his company showed up, Everett, who was just as nice & professional. Because my property manager was giving me an attitude via text & phone, I was crying & upset - hey, I was tired, frustrated & cold. They were very compassionate & said they would do whatever it takes to get my heat working as soon as possible. Finally, my property manager OK'd the work & Ryon went to get the part. He was back soon after & did the repair in about 10 minutes. He waited with me to make sure the heat came on & it got warmed up. I can't thank Service Experts enough. They turned a horrible situation around & did so timely, compassionately & professionally. read more

After being sold an overpriced and poor quality unit from ARS with terrible installation, we called Service Experts to replace our upstairs unit. They charged us $1000 less for the same size but much higher quality unit. The service before, during and after is incredible. We have them come out for biannual checkups on both units. They have fixed minor insurance on the ARS unit without charging us anything extra. read more

I had a potential gas leak that needed to be investigated. They came out - 3 technician-, looked under the house (literally just peaked in), bubble tested the fireplace and then stood by the gas stove for a smell test. After that since there was no gas smell, they turned the stove on, at which point there was a gas smell. With the above 'trouble shooting' they determined that the stove was the source of gas leak. A few issues here- I learned them later: 1- since I'm on a propane tank, which they knew before coming out, they should have NEVER accepted my service request and instead should have instructed me to call the company who own the gas line. As I bought my house with this setup I was not aware that only the company owning the tank can service the line. 2- when making the appointment I was told it will be a $99 service call plus parts if needed. When the 3 people showed up I was told it is $99, plus $78 up front with the $78 being the actual checking the lines, the $99 was for only showing up. 3- the company who owns the gas tank\line came and did a full line check with a load test as well as checking the stove. There is no leak at the stove, it is only an 'incomplete burn' due to a dirty burner which can be easily cleaned. So much for the services of Service 'Experts'. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. This company is unreliable and untrustworthy. For the past month my father has been trying to get them to fix his heat and all he has gotten is the run around. He realized he heat was not working in September so he call this company and they sent someone out. This technician said that the unit needed a part. He didn't have the part on hand so they needed to order it and it would take a few weeks to get in. Two weeks later they come to install the part and it was the wrong part so they had to reorder the part. After waiting my dad called and they said the part would be in late Thursday, October 19, and someone would call him Friday , October 20, to set a a time for install of the part. My first clue should have been when the technician was accompanied by a sales guy. But after evaluating our "System malfunction" error message on our thermostat, it was determined that they could replace two key components for a cost of $3000-$5000 or we could discuss a new system for a cost of $7000-$23,000. I paid the technician the service fee and got a second opinion. A technician from Quality Comfort Services in Knightdale came and diagnosed the issue, had the part on his truck and was gone in just over an hour for less than $250. The inspector found it. Failed the inspection for gas leak and bad wiring. After a month the system shuts off the breaker. They blame it on my other system even though everything was working fine before i called the bad experts to put new system. I had a great experience with the maintenance consultant sent to us, Mustapha Khallafi, who was responsive to my questions and quick to resolve issues identified as part of the precision tune-up, all while having been in the attic on a hot Raleigh summer day. 5 out of 5 for Mustapha, who was here almost a full two hours and was very thorough. The back-office staff (scheduling and dispatch), however, were a bit of a cluster. The original appointment was supposed to be between noon and 2, the prior call took longer which I get and it happens, but nobody called me to let me know someone wouldn't ultimately arrive until 5:30PM, which was about an hour after I called in to cancel and move until another day. I'm going to blame the fact it was right before a holiday so maybe they were a little short staffed. Also, if you all stop taking card payments after 5PM, you all need to warn folks. I had service "experts" install a lennox ac unit 2 1/2 yrs ago and have trouble with it ever since. Thinking back, it took them 3 tries to get the unit to work after install; big warning sign. Ive had regular maintenance on the unit and even had service "experts" come out and service the unit 3 months ago; they kinda missed the big Freon leak that i am now having to fix. I am now having to pay out $800 to fix a factory defect that both service "experts" and lennox are denying they are responsible for. I built a home 8 yrs ago and service experts installed three Ac units. They wanted to use a Maytag. I had never heard of that brand and they said it was Great and it had a 10 yr warranty. Well just this week almost 8 yrs to the day they installed it One unit went out. Cracked heat exchanger and bad coils. I called about the warranty and the installer Service experts never registered the unit. It only had a 5 yr warranty. They lied to my face!Now I have to pay $5,600 to replace one u it and the service guy said the other two are on THIER last leg. In least that 10 yrs I will spend $12-$15,000 to replace three HVAC systems that service experts installed. All because they did not follow thru with doing the paper work when they installed them. However, I was never informed about the unit being a total cost of $10,000 during the 7 yr contract. Never was I told that I had a contract for a period of time and not the unit that was installed. I was really surprised at the poor service after seeing these reviews. I'd give 0 stars if I could. The customer service rep called us during the service window to cancel part of our appointment as they had overbooked. Then after being told someone was 45 mins away, no one showed or called. Called back and was told it was a mistake, no one was coming, and they would reschedule and waive fees for costing us 4 hours of our day. Two days later techs show up without the correct tools (even though it was in the notes what was needed) and left again, costing us another 4 hours. Work was done but we were pressured heavily to buy additional services and equipment we don't need. And guess what? We were charged the fees they promised to waive. More lies. When the tech called, customer service told them we had cancelled and were now trying to get free work from them for OUR mistake.....we heard her say this after they had been the cause of it. I called the office 3 times over a week about the fees and poor service. I keep being told they will pull the calls and get back to us. No manager has bothered to return my calls. This is a terrible company that lies and treats customers very poorly. And the AC unit just froze up again after they "serviced" it. Shoddy work, terrible service, no consideration. I called after getting stood up by a competitor. I was surprised to be offered a same day appointment since it was 1:30 already. The technician, Bryan, was on time, knowledgeable, let my yellow lab keep bugging him for ear scratches and did a thorough job to get my heat back on. My only suggestion would be to discuss the fees before doing the job. The price was fair so I had no issues with that but had this been a more expensive job you could be in a rough spot. I cannot believe the reviews I'm reading. This company was recommended to me by my neighbor who has counted on Service Experts for forever. Based on my experience, I'll use them forever, too. My mom's AC went out at night on 8/1. August 2nd was the first day of the three hottest days of the year. It was 87 in the house. I called Thursday. Service Experts were here on Thursday. Tim was so impressive in diagnosing the AC problems & communicating them to me. If you only knew what that entailed (crawling in a small earthen crawl-pace), you'd understand my appreciation. Brian, a consultant, arrived to explain to me my options. He patiently & thoroughly explained them to me. No pressure whatsoever. Just giving me the facts. Before he came, I was adamant about not replacing mom's unit b/c I knew the house may be sold w/in a year. So, I opted for the repair option. After another sweltering night, I decided I needed to replace the outdated unit. I called @ 8:00am on Friday. Before 10:00am, Todd, another consultant, arrived. Yes. That quickly. Todd was amazing! He laid out my choices & described the benefits of the Advantage Plan. Within 30 minutes, I was signed up, approved, & scheduled for delivery/installation on Monday. And much to my surprise, Todd called me a few hours later to say he had worked out a way to install the unit the next day on Saturday. Two days (& sweltering nights) early. By mid-afternoon on Saturday (thanks to the hard work of Nelson & David), mom's house was cool again. They weathered an unexpected, pretty serious thunderstorm in order to finish on time. They arrived on time, were hard working, & extremely polite. So, -hottest days of the year. -extremely busy market (competitors were looking at a week+ for installation) -low inventory due to CoVid supply chain issues -I called late Thursday & was sitting in cool, energy efficient air by Saturday afternoon. May 2019 our AC needed to be replaced. Since Service Experts did our office building I contacted them first. After the salesman visited he sold us on the Advantage program only $203 month, 2 maintenance calls annually and other perks. It seemed logical since after 7 years he stated we could walk away or get another unit and continue with the program. WRONG! We decided to sell and learned that to transfer the lease which we were told no problem. At the end of the term, there is a 5k termination fee! This is after paying $203 for 84 months. I apologized to the buyers because I sold them on the plan and how good this company is. I since terminated the lease at 93% of the original price and also had a termination fee! I'm currently looking for another company to handle the maintenance of my office building. I really feel the salesman duped us and the district manager wouldn't even call me. huh?? Used Costco for HVAC system estimate who directed the services through this company. Good points: 1. Showed up on a Sunday to give me an assessment since I was going to be out the following week. 2. Did provide some options on HVAC configurations to consider. Not good points: 1. Company was an hour away from my home. 2. Service rep made remarks like if " I have the best Lennox A/C system then you can afford one too". 3. Did not give a specific price for his recommendations more ballpark and said we'll match any bona fide documented proposal. Given that they were a lot further from my location than anticipated plus unnecessary remarks that were not client friendly or be more specific on prices, we decided that this was not the company to do business. read more

Service Experts is a Lennox provider with Costco and that was where I first met William Foti 2 years ago and took his business card. We had moved a year earlier and was having annual maintenance expenses with our HVAC systems for upstairs and downstairs. I called him 1 year later when I wanted a tankless water heater made by Lennox. He did come out but I went with a Rinnai because Lennox was now entering the market whereas Rinnai had the best reviews. At that time - last August, I also had William quote 2 new HVAC systems so that I would know my cash outlay. Since then, I have continuously reached out to him for guidance. Then last November, I had Service Experts do my annual fall tune up. Todd came out and performed his inspection with me in tow. He showed me where I was having problems - an explanation to my repair costs with another vendor, and I felt reassured with his knowledge. I paid for the annual tune-up package at that time without any additional charges. This past winter, there were no issues with our heating :) However last week with our 90 degree temp in Raleigh, our upstairs unit was running but no cool air coming out. The last time we had this problem, we had to get 1 lb R-22 freon and it was expensive since this was being phased out so we suspected the same problem. My husband said not to say anything to the vendor - I was to let them do their spring tune-up and get their own diagnosis. Alex of Service Experts came out and said that the upstairs unit had low R-22 pressure and that we needed about 3 lbs of freon. This was reasonable since the last time freon was replaced was 6/6/16. Alex said that there is a leak in the system because if we filled it in 2016 that the freon should still be there. He could perform a leak search for an additional fee but he also pointed out the age of our equipment and suggested that it might be better to replace it than to invest in diagnosing and repair - our Goodman unit is 13 years. In addition, R-22 freon is being phased out in 2 years. Our downstairs unit was okay. We did not want to keep throwing money at freon so I contacted William Foti once more to update his quotes for new equipment. He immediately did. Unfortunately for William, I went with a local Raleigh vendor based on the majority of negative reviews for "service" with Service Experts. I've only had positive experiences with Service Experts -admittedly, I did not look at any reviews prior to me actually needing a new hvac system now. Either I was fortunate to have the ones who really cared or the company is trying to change its image. Regardless, William Foti, Todd and Alex all deserve 5 stars from me. read more
