Service Experts did a Spring check up and explained things that he thought were odd (a pump for drainage in the attic and no pump in the basement. He made the suggestion of adding UV lights to clean which we'll consider since we have dogs and probably have more airborne dust than most. Alex was respectful and professional. I am echoing the comments made by Deborah N. here in Raleigh less than 10 days ago. Our situation and the nature of our complaint are virtually identical. In December, Service Experts quoted me an installation cost of $7,400 (equipment plus labor) for a Lennox 14ACX AC and a Lennox ML180 furnace. When the equipment was installed, I was presented with two purchasing options: either pay a one-time cost of $7,400 for installation or enroll in the Advantage Program at a monthly cost of $167. Based on the information provided me, I enrolled in the Advantage program and have dutifully paid my monthly fees. The installation of the AC and furnace was professionally done and I've had no problem with either of the two installed units since that time. I have now put this home up for sale and want to terminate the Advantage agreement with the not unreasonable expectation that I would need to pay the $7,400 cost of last year's installation. Indeed, the Program's contract states that 100% of the "Total Installed Cost of the Equipment" needs to be paid if owned for less than one year. However, the Agreement Contract (which I was never given a copy of) states that the "Total Installed Cost of Installation" is not anywhere near $7,400 but is instead $10,976. This is nearly 50% higher than the total installation cost that I was quoted just 9 months ago. Under no circumstances is it fair for me to pay nearly $11,000 for installed equipment for which I was recently quoted $7,400. I have conducted market research and confirmed that $7,400 is a reasonable installation cost for the AC and furnace that I had installed in December. The response that was given to Deborah N. regarding this same issue was entirely inadequate and did not address her situation. For my own situation, I am requesting that the Contract be revised to state that the "Total Installed Cost" shall be the $7,400 market value of the actual installation that was quoted to me. At a corporate level, Service Experts needs to understand that this is major Customer Goodwill issue and that they have the opportunity to maintain that Goodwill by properly correcting the problem. I have been a long time Service Experts customer and have never had a complaint with any previous cost or the quality of the equipment or workmanship. If this issue is not addressed and continues to occur, however, Service Experts customers will understandably start taking their business elsewhere. I am looking forward to a representative of Service Experts contacting me to resolve this problem and demonstrate that they are indeed committed to serving their valued customers. read more

I wish I could leave two separate ratings for this company. The service technician (Alex) that came out to diagnose my AC problem was great. He was thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. Alex informed me that I would need a new HVAC system. He wasn't able to provide a quote himself, but requested a member of the sales department to stop by later. The salesman started by quoting me $9300 for a new unit. I own a 1,050 square foot house in Garner, so this was a completely outlandish number! He started by explaining that electrical rewiring increased the quote. When I pushed harder for a reasonable explanation (as his quote was almost double the other ones I received), he then explained he was quoting me a top-of-the-line, Lennox unit. He then stated he'd put together pricing for other units and email me tomorrow. He never emailed me or followed up via phone. I dealt with service expert in the past and found that they not trust worthy. I used other companies and were better in dealing with them. 2 Years ago i replaced my system and checked with few companies before i decided to go back to service Expert. A mistake was made and now too late to change. They put a new system and already having issues with it. Last month Jan 2021 they checked it and decided that the blower needs replacement. Paid 90 dollars and after 3 days the replaced it. on 02172021 the system had the same issues. It was diagnosed this time different. I was given an appointment on 02282021 for them to come back. Does anyone think that those people care to have me wait 2 weeks in this cold whether with no heat? Are you expecting me to write something good for that. This is not a comment regarding the service of this organization but rather a communication to them. My next-door neighbor uses your maintenance service for his heating and air-conditioning. In the past each service person has removed my hose from my outdoor faucet and used their hose on my outdoor faucet to clean the unit. That's fine with me as we're both on the same water meter. The problem in the past has been that they never replace my hose. I kindly asked the guy today to please replace my hose when he's finished. He placed it on with two or three revolutions on the connector but left the water turned off. Again I had to go out and connect my hose and tighten it so that I could again use the hose. When I mention it to the worker he says "it didn't have any pressure anyway" The service was provided at the 6032 location and the license tag on the vehicle and it in 8163 read more

THIS COMPANY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! We had a technician out to diagnose the issue with our A/C and he had his 'business associate' with him to assist with the billing. The technician told us that the whole A/C system (outside AND inside unit) needed to be replaced due to multiple part failures. The estimate for a new system, we were told, would cost $7500. We got a second opinion from another company and they correctly diagnosed the minor issue within 30 SECONDS of looking at the unit at a total cost of $350. We also discovered that Service Experts technician wasn't even looking at the correct outside A/C unit. Yeah...my neighbors unit works just fine come to find out.. Service Experts lied to us. DO NOT! Have been using this company for 6 years for inspection, repairs, and maintenance on my a/c and gas heat dual units (upstairs and down stairs) with no complaints. On 8/29/20 I lost the a/c coil for the 2nd time in my upstairs unit and called Service Experts to come replace it. They brought a salesman with them who agreed to waive the cost if I signed up for the Advantage Program. I signed a service order form with Advantage pencilled in on the bottom. I was never told the cost of the install or that it was a lease program until 12/19/20 when I foolishly doubled down on the program when my downstairs unit stopped heating. I finally on 12/28/20 called program headquarters and demanded copies of the contracts. Bottom line is I am stuck with two choices a buyout of the 10-15 year leases at $34707 or stay in the program for 10+ years for $515/mo and still have to pay a percentage of the above install cost if I terminate early. STAY AWAY from this company and its Advantage Program!!! read more

Purchased a new airconditioning and heating unit from them during their buy one get one free. I was excited to get the unit installed. Two young men installed the unit and I was not home for the installation. My dad was there and the updates consisted of, "it doesn't fit", "the measurements were wrong, but it is ok because that happens all the time". Not to mention the front yard was a disaster zone when I came home and it took them WELL over 8 hours to install the units. In less than 3 months the unit stopped working! I had two different service men come out in a span of two weeks. The first one could not find the problem, but stated that whoever installed the unit did not know what they were doing. The second one found the tubes for condensation were put in wrong and had been flip flopped, therefore causing the unit to shut off because of the condensation build up. I was FURIOUS! I had heard some companies in NC don't require any specialized training for their installers, apparently this company is one of those. The second repairman was great and figured out the issue quickly. I was thankful for him as the days the unit went out were the two hottest days we have experienced all year so far (90+ degree days). He told me what had occurred and I just thanked him. I could not find the names of the original installers on my paperwork, or else they would be posted on here. I did get both my repairs for free-but that was included in my purchase. I DO NOT recommend this company. read more

So I called Service Experts for an estimate on either replacing an older central air unit entirely, or just replacing the condensing unit and installing a new evap coil and expansion valve in the air handler. Their man came out, not concerned with even what he was replacing as far as model, etc.. Sat down with me giving me an estimate for 5k for a new condensing unit with evap coil, or 8k for a new unit. Nothing in the estimate indicated what they would replace my old unit with, just a price. I informed him the estimate was vague to say the least, and informed him to leave. He became beligerant, and after opening the door to let himself out with myself escorting him out of my house, turned around and slammed the door back open as he was exiting, with the door lock taking a small piece of skin off my thumb as I went to grab the door to close it behind him. I told him I was calling the police, he said "go ahead I'll wait for them". He however left immediately. Police report filed. I never knew these guys were under so much stress to sell. Either way, could never recommend this company due to a psycho salesman. read more

From the beginning, we believed this company generally knew what they were doing. Kind and courteous salesman. We hired them to do a new install. However, when it came time for the technicians to come and actually do the job, just about everything went sideways. Without going into a long list of things that went wrong, I can sum it up with pretty much one sentence. Called Service Experts to perform yearly maintenance on my system. The technician told me my hot water heater was installed in 1992 and is a ticking time bomb. He said the discounted rate to change it would be about $1300. I said I couldn't afford that. He said he thought his boss might agree to $1000 if I agreed right away. I did some research and found out my water heater is from 2008!!! Either the technician purposefully lied or has no idea what he's doing - I don't know which is worse. In any case, since then I've asked around what it could cost and the highest estimate I've received is $850. My heating system was installed by Service Experts and they were the only ones to ever service it. Cost was $139 for maintenance check which seemed high, but I thought it'd be better to go with the company that installed the system. Technician spent about 20 minutes checking system and settings. He said there was a setting that could damage the system on cold nights that he thought should be changed. I asked why the wrong setting was there to begin with. He said it was the factory setting and no one ever bothered to check it. I thought this was odd since it was Service Experts that installed the system and were the only ones to ever service it. That definitely decreased my confidence in the thoroughness of their service, especially at such a high cost. The technician recommended the filter be changed. Signing a service contract with Service Experts gives a significant discount on the filter change, so it is pretty much an obvious choice to sign the contract. The filter change still runs about $288 dollars with the discount, in addition to the $139 I had already paid for the technician to correct the setting Service Experts had left incorrectly. While the technician was obtaining the filter, I checked the retail price of the filters and found it was $130. When the technician returned I asked why it cost $288 to change. He said that was industry practice to charge 2.5 times the cost of the filter to change it. He said any other company would be more expensive since they were a certified Lennox dealer and my heater is a Lennox. I didn't feel I had a choice but to trust him since I didn't know how to change the filter myself. Actually Service Experts prices ARE HIGHER - that was just a lie. I watched him change the filter and it turns out it's only a matter of pulling out the old one and putting in the new one. It takes less than a minute, anyone can easily do it. That means I was charged about $158 for a minute of labor that's something I could easily do myself. I will certainly not trust a technician from Service Experts again. Overall, I found Service Experts to provide poor quality service at extremely inflated prices. read more

I agree, beware of these people. My house is only 5 years old & they tried to sell me on a new unit that would cost $19,000. When they saw my shock they suggested it didn't​ have to cost me a thing if I sign up for a monthly service contract, which I believe they quoted $240/month. They also insisted I have a leak somewhere and require more freon. I've since called in another HVAC company for a second opinion and without telling this new company any details they determined nothing wrong with the system. They even guaranteed Service Experts did not even open my unit upon inspection. I never received the 2 proposals for the things they claimed I needed, that tells me they knew they weren't being upfront with me. I felt as if they were only out to see how much money they could scare me into, I don't trust this company & will never use them again. read more

Caveat Emptor! They're all over it if you're buying a new HVAC system. Not so much if you call for service. Beware their "warranty" on parts. Even if you need service during the warranty period, you'll still spend big bucks paying for their "labor, tax, tags, options, shipping, and handling" for getting those parts. $300+ dollars for a "warranty" repair for 2 units less than 3 years old. They'll also charge you for a diagnostic fee even if you authorize the repairs. Honestly, they and their policies give smoke and mirrors a bad name. Upsell, upsell, upsell is the motto of every employee. The first thing they always talk about is the enhancements you "need" for your HVAC system and how spending additional thousands of dollars will be of benefit. Of course, it will benefit them and their bottom line, not you or your home or family. Wish I'd seen the Yelp reviews before I bought 2 new HVAC systems from them. You misled me when you sold me the systems, nothing can change that. Your staff DOES try to upsell on every visit and that is just tiresome. Honestly, I think these units were either defective or were not configured properly and that's what caused the failure, but I've been told neither of those is a possibility. Stay away from this company. Rip off artists. Crappy work. Of course, it started with a smooth talking salesman who convinced me I should have my crawl space sealed off, which I had wanted. Their definition of a sealed crawlspace means adhering rigid insulation that is not sealed in place and keeps falling off in various places. The technician told me that, but the salesman wasn't convinced. They've had to come back two or three times due to miscommunications. Instead of a 20 mm vapor barrier, I got a 6 mm vapor barrier, which shouldn't have been laid down. How do they fix that mistake, simply lay another one but only 10mm. Not exactly 20mm is it? I'm not sure if their price is reasonable for routine maintenance. Here is what they charges. 1) $155 for draining the pan and vacuuming the pipe using a vacuum from the top and from the bottom. It took less than 30 minutes, That's how simple it was. Moreover, it's not considered tune-up work. I'm not sure what their tune-up does, which they charge separately, $139 regular per system. 2) $207 replacing Capacitor DUAL RUN, 60+7.5" 3) $147 replacing Capacitor RUN (10-20 MFD) I feel these were very overpriced. Do you know what's the fair price for these items? read more

I have to disagree with other reviewers as having used other companies in the past, I thought the technician Ray was awesome! He didn't try to upsell me and wasn't able to fully figure out why my system was acting finicky because it was only messing up at certain times and not continuously. Ray was able to narrow it down to either the control board or the thermostat. As the control board is much more expensive, he didn't push this repair on me because he wasn't 100% certain this was the issue and he didn't feel comfortable replacing it if he wasn't sure it was the issue. I decided to try upgrading the thermostat because it was already on my "to do" list. I ran into issues with my wires not working when Ray went to hook up the new thermostat. Ray was able to wire a new thermostat using the wires I already had to save me some money. I decided to have the house re-wired so that everything would be fully operational and there wouldn't be issues later on down the road. Ray was extremely patient, professional and knowledgeable. Scheduling was easy and they try to get a technician out in the past. It sounds like others may have had a bad experience with one specific technician. This doesn't mean the company is bad. This is not the company that I began with in 2006. Over the years, it has become more and more about selling customers products they don't need. It has not been two visits a year for maintenance plan for me for about 3 years. It started when the new unit and HVAC system were installed. I was sold a new A/C unit even though my original A/C unit WAS working at that time. They weren't going to service the unit i had anymore...convinced me I needed to upgrade. MY First mistake? I trusted them. Then there were the custom filters. It took two technicians to measure and get the correct size. In June of this year, I was sold $290 of wiring. Today? I was charged for a service fee (in spite of the fact I had a maintenance 4 months ago) and $200 for a replacement bulb to the HVAC system. The company was quick to tell me how great this HVAC system was to make the sale...yet failed to tell me the cost of upkeep. $200 every two years for a new bulb? Seriously, service experts? UGH doesn't even begin to cover it. Give your business to Cousins or somewhere else with better reviews. I know I will. read more

What a mess. We chose Service Experts because of their low price but have paid in hassle. Their communication during the initial install was nonexistent; despite being home all day, I was never told how the job was progressing or how long it would take/was taking. We later learned that the system had initially been installed without a zone board, presumably to fit the schedule of their install team, but we were not told this until after the install. This required a second visit. (The unit we were replacing was still functional, so we would have asked them to wait and complete the install all at once, had we been informed that they did not have the zone board.) Even after the zone board was installed, the system was still not cooling the home, and this took two additional visits to fix. A part had apparently not been installed to route the air properly, so not only did the unit not cool our house, but we paid to cool our crawl space for two weeks until they made the fix. We filed a complaint regarding all of these issues but never heard back. Then, only weeks after Service Pro inspected the unit and install this fall, we found out that the heat did not work because of a broken circuit board. We were told that they could fix it for free on Monday or for $150 on Saturday--the fee to open their store on a Saturday to get the part(?!). (Meanwhile, we have dogs and a pregnant person in the house so waiting until Monday was not an option, and Service Pro certainly did not offer to put us up elsewhere while it was 40 degrees inside our home.) We have filed a second complaint with management but can't say that we anticipate hearing back about that complaint either. read more

After the first technician repaired something i needed, a salesman was waiting around the corner. He tried to sell me an entirely new hvac system, even though my house is only 8 years old. His quote was $14,000. When I told him I needed to think about it and discuss it with my husband his response was "whats there to talk about?" Called for a tune up. Was told my entire air handling unit was never installed properly and I would need a new one installed because mold was building in my crawl space. The service technician replaced a capacitor for an inflated price and called the main office to set up an "estimator" to come out for a quote on the air handler. The "estimator" came out within the next 2 hours and gave me 3 options. All between 10-15k including replacing my ac unit, which didn't need replacing. Tried to sell financing with an expired coupon. I had a second opinion come out, come to find out my crawl space vents were not open causing the mold build up. And my hair handling unit was fine. They never followed up with their permit would have known it was installed wrong. New air ducts for 2 years blew out pink foam... always had a coolant leak from a brand new unit. Did I forget to mention they installed the unit on the wrong amp and left the old air handlers. We had severe mold problems in just 2 years with the machine!! They came out the last time but did not tell me they saw mold!!! So it festered!!! When we asked for them to bring out their expert they sent someone who had no idea what he was looking at. He was rude. He insulted my father and told us there was no such thing as a close door test to see about energy efficiency and holes!! If we had a competent person to come out I think we would have had the correct facts. The guy working on my case had a family emergency and I think I got more help when he was gone then him being here. I highly suggest you do not use this company as they have destroyed my home and will not keep their 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!! This was horrible and it cost us dearly. They came over and fixed an issue that other plumbing/heating companies were quoting me would cost 7K!!!! They fixed it for a few hundred dollars and walked me through what the other guys were doing wrong. They spent A LOT of time making sure everything was repaired and in great working order before they left - I cannot rate them higher or thank them enough. I met a service man at house Thursday, and did not have a good experience. I felt like the technician was bothered to be there. I was told it was probably 1 of 2 problems, surprise it wasn't. I apparently asked questions that were bothersome for him to answer. He had to be called back to property after he left as air filters were left out and had to ask him whether they were to be replaced or not which totally set him off. He ended up calling me rude after I had spent over 500 dollars and more than 31/2 hours of time. Totally unprofessional. I called to speak to a supervisor of which no one was available and was told I would be called the next day. That didn't happen either. I think if this was my company I wouldn't want my employees telling paying customers they were rude! It's not like I picked a name out of the air to call as we have been customers for well over 15+ years. Guess it's not important in this environment that they just lost a long time customer! I was promised a year of service to be included with a furnace purchase and install. I live out of state, and arranged for Service Experts to schedule maintenance of the furnace and the HVAC with my tenants. For the next year and a half they called me every two weeks to sell me another maintenance agreement. Each time I said I had an agreement already, and that my tenants were waiting to hear from them regarding scheduling service. Each time the representative apologized, and told me they would take care of it. Two weeks later, they'd call again to try and sell me a service contract. The last time was a few months ago, when, for the first time, the representative I was speaking with took the time to look up my account. He informed me they had no record of my service agreement. I, however, still have my purchase order, with the service agreement indicated. When I told the representative there is a mistake, and that I received a one year service agreement with my furnace installation, he apologized and said he would have someone follow up with me. They have never contacted me again. If this were simply an oversight on the part of one person, I would reach out to the company, rather than writing this review. However, the reality is more serious. Every person I have spoken on the phone with at this company has lied to me. That may be an indication these are not the kind of people I should be trusting to do work on my property. As a consolation, it is nice they are no longer calling every other week to sell me a service agreement. read more

A few years ago, in one of the hottest days of the summer, our upstairs AC unit quit working. At the same time, my wife went into labor and our in laws were coming to stay with us. Needless to say, we needed our AC unit replaced for our inlaws and for our new born since all their rooms were upstairs. We called Service Experts and asked our neighbor to handle the repairman when he showed up since we were at the hospital. The repairman shows up and works on the unit and saids the compressor needed replaced. Mind you, this is a 2 year old unit. Our neighbor calls and relays the information and I am not a HVAC experts so I just have to take his word and have it fixed. When I came home later that afternoon, the repairman was just wrapping up and he tells me that he has to take the "broken" compressor back with him as he is not authorized to leave it behind so he didn't show me the compressor. This should have been a red flag. Again, not being an expert and being in a rush because we needed the AC working, I didn't argue and paid over $1100 for the work. Over the years this unit had to be repaired a couple more times. I called other companies because something just didn't seem right about the work Service Expert did. Well each time, the unit's capacitor had to be replaced which was approx $200 - 300 work for parts and labor. The last company I called, based on recommendations, the repairman found that the unit was in a bad location where the capacitor was burning out because it was not getting enough air circulation so the unit was being over taxed. Not only that, he mentions that the compressor installed in the unit was very weak and although didn't need replaced would maybe last a couple more years. So now I am fairly certain I was taken by the first call to Service Experts and being charged for work that was unnecessary. It seems they installed a sub par compressor into the unit and took the original part which he claimed was broken. I considered myself savvy and street smart but I let my guard down under the situation and was taken advantage of. I have no idea if the same people own or operate Service Experts from when I used them. Google service experts raleigh reviews and you will see a common message. I personally wil never call this company for any HVAC work. I actually found a great HVAC company where the repairman shows me the broken part, explains what he did and did preventative maintenance, ie moved the AC unit for better air circulation at no cost. When it comes to HVAC, if they break down, it seems to happen at the worse moments and we tend to call the first repair service we find. We trust these repairman to give an honest assessment, solution and price. If they tell us something needs repaired, most of us are layman when it comes to HVAC so we just take their word. I think this provides opportunity for companies to overcharge and perform unnecessary work. read more

I would not use Service Experts for the following reasons: 1: Service Experts are charging people for what they call a tune-up that is better then other competitors. They did not perform a complete inspection of my equipment. They essentially charged me to come to my residence to come and sell me equipment I do not need, nor want to spend my money on. 2: This could be considered predatory sales, when coming into someones house, and giving them recommendations without complete information on what the problem is and trying to up sell them for something that they do need nor can afford as a unforeseen expense. Not all people have someone that they can know and trust in the industry to provide them with advice. I also could see a scenario where this tactic works with someone that is elderly and very trusting, especially when possibly in the middle of a burning hot North Carolina summer. 3. A complete, no questions asked, money back guarantee is offered and advertised. This was not the case in my experience, since I have been asked questions and this has been put under investigation. The only way I was offered money back was when I stated that the services that were agreed on and were stated to be preformed, were not preformed. I did in fact get my money back. My Experience: Service Experts Arrived with both a technician and a sales representative. The two of them proceeded to look at the upstairs and main floor units. They had me change both units to cooling. The sale rep proceeded to pitch an insulated jacket for my attic access, not a bad suggestion. The technician and the sales rep went to the outside units and I continued to work, since I told my job that I would be at home for this HVAC visit and still had meeting in the morning. They then called me out to the outdoor units to go over their finding. The technician then told me that he would not test the capacitor or any other connections on the outdoor unit that is segregated to the upstairs due to the few arc burn marks on the relay, and the broken plastic around the capacitor. He also told me that the overflow switch on the upstairs unit was defective. On the Outdoor unit segregated for the main floor, the technician stated that my unit was out of Freon and that the capacitor was reading low. Then the technician proceeded to show me that the gauge read 18 psi for pressure. He stated that instead of leak testing the unit, he would recommend just purchasing a whole new unit and stopped the inspection. The sales rep then brought in a quote around $10k a brand new unit, in which case I told them I would have to think about it. Before calling Hot and Cold Mechanical I called my Brother, an HVAC Journeyman that lives in Nebraska, and discussed what happened with him. He stated that there are two types of HVAC companies philosophies; always test and inspect to find out what the problem is whether it be a leak and the location/severity, or a failed pump/valve, etc. and letting the customer know the exact cost of the fix to a make an informed decision or the other philosophy of trying to push a sale of a full system. With this in mind and the information from the visit I gave him, he said to call someone else for a second opinion. So, I called Hot and Cold Mechanical because I had had good luck with them before when I had a complete home warranty after purchasing the residence. Hot and Cold Mechanical Inspection Arrived and starting working on the unit that was stated to be out of Freon. First the technician hooked up the unit while it was not running and stated that the pressure looked fine. The technician then called me out to turn on the cold air and stated that the pressure was low, but he thought that it may be the expansion valve on the indoor unit under the house. In order to test that hypothesis, he asked me to switch to heat. When the unit switched to heat he found that the heat pump was not running and this was to to the thermostat incorrect wiring. He stated that the heat had been running on emergency heat all winter without the heat pump. After getting the wiring fixed, he found that the heat pump kicked on and the pressure read as if the unit was full of Freon. This confirmed that the expansion valve was seized. With this he tested the capacitor on the upstairs unit to make sure that it was within specifications, and it was. He then stated that he would call back once he had a quote on the expansion valve. When he called back to give me a quote, he found the expansion valve was in the $700's, where a new indoor coil would be in the low $900's, and he stated that he would replace the out of specification Main floor unit capacitor for no additional charge. He recommended that I should just have the coil replaced, so I agreed. read more

No stars this is the worst company ever. Do no use them. I bought a new heat pump from them and now no that it was not installed properly and they will not work with me to fix the issues. Also they tried to overcharge my parents. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!! read more

Our initial transactions with Ricky who came to repair our unit and Barrie who sold us the new one were great. Both gentlemen were professional and provided excellent service. Because we purchased a new unit we were told, and have the paperwork listing it, that we would be refunded the amount we paid to have the old one repaired. Barrie said that with our new unit we'd receive that credit on our cc in about two weeks and receive rebates within 4-6 weeks. That was August 5. Both my husband and I have called Service Experts to find out why our refund has not been issued and have been put on hold then told accounting could not take our calls but would return the call as soon as possible. My husband called Friday, August 30 and I called on Saturday, September 7. Neither of us has received a return call and the refund has not been credited. It appears that Service Experts is quick to sell you a unit but not follow through with what's been promised. read more

Our upstairs AC unit was not working and we called on Service Experts for service. We are so disappointed with their service. Reading the comments from this site it seems some of us received excellent services and some of us didn't. Perhaps it the technician that makes or breaks this company. In my opinion my technician did a horrible job and was greedy. He did not use good judgment and was focused on making the money. He came and inspect the unit and said we had a leak and he would charge an extra fee to look for the leak. We were ok with that but he had to come back to look for the leak another day. In the mean time he said our unit needs Freon. I think he quote us for $85 per pound for Freon. He stated that he put in 11 pounds of Freon for our upstairs AC unit. We have no knowledge in air conditioning and in good faith believe everything he said or recommend. We are busy people and have 3 small children so we just want peace of mind and trusted Service Experts. After he put Freon in and we did the paperwork to pay him he gave us two pieces of paper for disclaimer that Freon will not solve the issued and that replacing our old AC unit with a new one would be the best option for us. The disclaimer also stated that Service Expert cannot guarantee how long Freon would last. We also scheduled for them to come back and replace our old unit. The next day no cold air was coming out of the upstairs unit. We were so angry. Yes, no one could guarantee how long the Freon would last but we paid $935 for Freon that we expect to last for more than one day! I would appreciate if our technician would of give us all our options first before he put the Freon in. In my opinion, a decent person would have told us that he can put in any amount of Freon we want but he would suggest for us to go ahead and buy a new unit and not waste our money with the Freon. Why wait til he added in the Freon then gave us the paperwork for the disclaimer! The worst part was when we called in another technician from another company and found out that our AC unit can only hold 5 pounds of Freon max. He charged us 11 pounds of Freon!!! How dishonest and greedy is that! We called Service Experts and the manager did refund back our money and sent out another technician to look at the AC unit for us. I'm thankful that they were able to give us back our money and was trying to make it right. However the trust is broken and we cannot trust this company anymore so therefore we cancel our appointment to get our new AC unit with Service Experts and went with a smaller company that we can trust. Because of greed they lost us as a customer. I think our technician did not represent Service Experts well. Had routine service call for my 2 AC units on 8/7/17. Units had been running well. After the servicing, the technician told me that the compressor to the upstairs unit was not working and that I would need a new unit. Replacing the compressor was not an option since the R22 refrigerant is being phased out and is outrageously expensive. The Technician was unable to explain why the unit had been running perfectly when he arrived but was now dysfunctional. I went upstairs and confirmed that it was blowing warm air and the temperature was up to 82 degrees from 77 when he arrived. I told him that I would be getting a second opinion and was not interested in a new unit from them given the suspicious circumstances. I turned off the unit and left the house for a few hours. When I returned I turned the unit back on and it ran perfectly. Has been running perfectly for the last week. I had another HVAC company check the unit and they found the compressor in good working order and could not explain the findings by Service experts. I was impressed by the honesty of the second company. Things were explained in detail and they seemed to sincerely want to do the right thing.
