We contracted Service Patriots through Lowes and were very pleased with the experience. We had someone else clean our vents several years ago, but were not happy with their work. They checked all the vents and lines in the crawl space and repaired things obviously overlooked by the prior contractor. They even found dog hair in the lines from the prior owner 6 years ago. I thought an hvac company backed by Lowe's would be legit, but this is a high pressured sales company that prey on your ignorance and fear. A service tech came and I was scheduled for a tune up, but I got an "airflow evaluation " instead. The guy told me I had the worst system he's ever seen in his life. He said I had to sign a liability waiver because of these "dangerous" findings and his supervisor needed to come talk to me. This is similar to going to a timeshare sales event where you go through different people selling you overpriced things you don't need. I ended up getting a second opinion from a smaller company that said I just needed a cleaning and some small repairs. Buyer beware. read more

I agree with a lot of the bad reviews here about wanting to sell you a new unit rather than fixing the issue. For the price we paid, my new unit is loud and inefficient at times. Service is poor after you made commitments with the purchase. You're a lower priority and put you in a different department. This company wasted my time. Came out and gave me a $2,000 quote to clean my ducts and we scheduled it. The day before my appointment I had not heard from them so I called to confirm. They said someone would call me back which I thought was odd. I waited over an hour and called back. They again couldn't confirm my appointment and transferred me to a guy. This man told me that they couldn't do the job because it wasn't $5,000 min and someone should of called and told me. Like WTF. Wish I could give a negative 5 star! During their annual spring HVAC tune-up the "found 4 leaks" in the refrigerant line. Then claimed the entire system was empty and needed to be totally replaced. The units where just eight (8) years old. Then their supervisor performed a high-pressure sale of a $22K system. They also claimed that continuing to use it would further damage both the heating unit and the heat pump. I finally decided to get two other opinions from competitors. Both of them said the system was just a little low and the leak was just in the threads at a connection (which one of them tightened). So, for the price of two other service calls (and 3 lbs of refrigerant) I saved myself $22,000 I am definitely using someone else in the future. read more

We had SP visit because he had a heating issue. The technician was so friendly and professional and did a complete evaluation of the HVAC system. However, he told us that our 10 year old system was unsafe and could cause serious trouble in the near future. Then he provided a document "Safety Concern Notification Form", that seemed to promote an atmosphere of fear. OK, we were convinced the system needed replacement and proceeded to have other HVAC companies provide estimates for replacement. The next two companines told us that our system only showed signs of normal use and did not require replacement, nor was it a safety concern! We had it repaired by soomeone else for a nominal fee and it is working fine now. Do yourself a favor and google, "HVAC scams" and then read about how companines like Service Patriots attempt to scam people. Beware! While performing regular maintenance, technician explained that local utilities now require a surge suppressor to be installed on the air conditioner. Unfortunately for him, I worked for a local utilitiy for 40 years and know there is no such requirement. When called out, the tech promised to call to provide either proof or verify he was mistaken. He has since ghosted me. Preying on seniors is a very bad look. I wonder how many victims installed unnecessary equipment? Update... We had a system that was working fine, thought a tune up before winter was a good idea. Landon went through the system trying to sell a little something extra the whole way. Once he was gone and the system was back in normal mode it would not cool. I investigated and found a disconnected wire on the outdoor unit. Once the wire was fixed I found he had reprogramed our thermostat. Total waste of money, we will now need to have reputable HVAC outfit come out and run through the system. read more

Came out to check on my HVAC system from a promo through Home Depot. My name was wrong in the forms after correcting Home Depot rep several times. I had a feeling they would red tag it because it was on its last leg. Sure enough- red tagged. The 3.5 hour experience made me uncomfortable. Instead of being pragmatic, Darwin was patronising, over explained simple concepts over and over, attempted to "calm me down" with a video call and more calls with patronising employees. I was calm. Just tag it and let me work on the solution. Claimed that a replacement would be over $12k. Suggested I would need an 80000 btu for my 1000 sqft home. Claimed my AC was 15 years old, it is 10 yrs old. Claimed that there were only a number of AC and furnaces that would be compatible with another- true. But maybe lead with the options instead of intimidation tactics. Cherry on top- he somehow didn't notice the Y connection for the water heater vent had dislodged amidst his struggle with the system before he drove his "long way home", letting carbon monoxide leak into the garage freely. Still claim safety is your #1 priority? This company will prey on you. read more

They placed down floor coverings to keep the floors safe and clean while accessing basement to remove/install new system under 7hrs. Since they installed new heat pump system, not only did they install wrong crossing wires they didn't fix the broken heating line under my home so half of my heat and cooling went under the house. I've had nothing but problems since they installed this unit they don't come out when called and im told parts are on order for months on end..I would not recommend this company at all. read more

Mikey did an exceptional job on the maintenance of my furnace & heat pump. He recommended a hard start kit to extend the life of the heat pump and ever since then, it runs quiet each time the AC starts. Although I had gotten used to the loud noise at each start, I prefer the quiet starts now. He explained why this was needed and how it would extend the life of the unit. He saw that the coils were dirty and put a solution on them and washed them so now my heat pump can operate with less tension. He was very helpful and thorough with his inspection and addressed all things that he found. Very appreciative of all the great work that he did. Highly recommended him and this company. read more

Very bad high pressure sales. They basically will not tell you anything you ask and force you to buy the "envelope " of there choice. They would not let me read the contract talked and stayed for hours evading questions. I just wanted them to leave. They installed a unit and I discovered it was not what they told me. I called and they said they would talk to sales rep and get back to me. Never got a call back. They will lie and install the lowest quality item and charge the highest price. I called and left messages with their after hours answering service on two separate occasions and didn't hear back. After waiting about 2 weeks I decided to call them again and got through to someone who sent a technician out two days later. I explained over the phone, in detail, what I wanted them to check out, so when the technician showed up without the necessary adapter I was pretty frustrated. I'll be honest, we got a very pricey system (~$53,000, 12 unit split system) with very high installation costs (installation craftsmanship was not good, at every opportunity to cut corners or install a unit in a way that made their job easier, but ours harder in the long run, they took it) and service contract costs and the first time we request service it takes over 2 weeks to get someone out here. The most disheartening thing is that the salesman (Travis) who came out to the house was an incredibly bright and charismatic young man. He's the main reason I refrained from writing this review after the install, but then the service was the straw that broke the camel's back. read more

I was approached by a sales representative at my local Home Depot, the offer was to do a complete furnace and AC system cleanup and inspection for +/- $56.00. I should know better than to expect anything less than what I got. Tim was the technician that showed up to my house, I could tell right away that he was there not to do a tuneup or service, but to sale me services when he asked "are you thinking about replacing your system". Then He started by pointing out everything that was wrong with my system ( the furnace and the AC system don't match, there is not enough clearance for the outside unit, etc). We're at the very beginning of a process to replace our 23 year old Rheem furnace and separate AC unit with a heat pump. Service Patriots sent Sean out for maintenance and Sean was very thorough! Two other companies in Astoria have been doing the maintenance on out equipment for 10 years but never looked inside the pipes that heat up. Sean put a camera inside and found a lot of rust. He also explained what might have happened to cause the rust (our fault for covering the 2 air intake holes in our floors). He spent a lot of time explaining things and was very knowledgeable. We signed a maintenance contract for 2 more visits - hopefully Sean will be the one to do them in the future. read more

This companies service technicians Frank and Jess Stopped and said they had a minute did we need a hand. Frank shoved so fast that we were loaded up in nothing flat. Where do I start? First of all they responded very quickly to my call for help when my furnace stopped working. Within a few hours my heating system was up and running again! Secondly, the technician, Frank, was very pleasant and professional in behavior and appearance. He explained everything to me about the issues he found and was able to take care of them right away. This has been a horrible experience. A very nice lady at Lowe's approached me with a really good offer for inspecting & cleaning our AC unit which I scheduled. The person doing the work was also very nice, but before it was even completed, a sales person was called and arrived very quickly. He told us prices were going up 13% the next day because of tariffs: operations manager confirmed that was not truthful. I thought the prices seemed high, but my husband said we needed to do it. Next thing I knew we were talking about insulation which I know we need. Just about fell off my chair when quoted the cost. Well, my husband got caught up in the pitch & we signed a contract for all of it. 2 days later I tried to get a breakdown of the costs, but they would not give it to me; told they can't give it out to me because they don't want their competitors to see it. So, when can't you see the sales materials used during a sales pitch after you bought the products???? Tried to reach the sales person to get the numbers & cancel the insulation, but he didn't get back to me. By the time he did, he said it was too late. All in all, I contacted Lowe's, who contacted the operations manager & got the insulation off the bill. Now we are only paying about $10K more than we should have paid by using a different company. So, if it is worth it to pay thousands more dollars to work with "nice people", go for it. If these people give you a sales pitch, make sure you get other quotes, since they say they will do price matching rebates. Due to the age and condition my existing furnace was, I requested an estimate on a new system. Jimmy came out a few days later and was very helpful and explained the options I had. Let's start from the Beginning! Scheduled just a service with this company based on seeing the van driving on the freeway heading to work. About a week out, very friendly and scheduled an appointment to service our unit. Very quick to answer and had a live person. They were running a special to service our Heat pump and AC. Day of service came and a gentleman named Wayne arrived. Very talkative and outgoing. First thing I noticed is he covered his shoes with shoe covers before entering the home. We showed him our unit and locations of items that needed service. He was here a few hours and took pictures of all the problems areas and discussed with us how to take care of them and manage the units. Upon him getting ready to leave I mentioned about getting a quote on a new unit and let them know I've had a couple others come give us one. Wayne's response was very professional and appropriate. He stated he is the technician and could have someone follow up with us to quote. Within minutes Wayne said that a salesperson is pretty close and could swing by to checkout what we have and that he could give a quote today or we could schedule if more convenient. We said go ahead and swing by being as I was off today and would love to know how much it would be. Travis arrived in about 30 min. He went over all of the equipment we have, we sat down and discussed different packages they offer. These units can be super expensive based on how you put them together and the size you need. Not an issue for them, they discussed size and package that would best fit the house and our goals. We ended up with a 3ton system from Lennox with Air pro Heating a Cooling for the install and plan to service with them. So we decided to go ahead with the install since we negotiated a fair price compared to other competitors. It was a little more then my other quotes! However the quality of team members and the way they treated us was outstanding. Now this is where it gets awesome!!! Install day is here, they show up ahead of schedule. Install team Louie & Mike and Steven are here. They start taking everything apart and getting ready to install our new system. Uh oh the 3Ton won't fit in the attic! The one they have won't come apart to fit. Boom some quick thinking and an upgrade to a 3.5Ton system at no additional charge. They work the entire day... to be expected and bust out this system. Great job everyone' and I thought we were done. Systems in and we are Cooking and Cooling our house to what we need..... Couple weeks go by and having some issues with the thermostat connecting to the WiFi. Send Travis a text about it and next day Wayne is at our house swapping us with an upgrade to a better wall unit that's even easier to manage on an app. So if you're looking for quality Equipment, employees and a business.
