I would honestly give 0 stars. They are extremely unprofessional. For starters, I reached out to Athena Protection and they picked up my call instead without announcing themselves. I paid them... no email receipt or confirmation so l called about 3 hours after checking spam folder and they were extremely rude. I bought it today, I would cancel today if customer service was open but l'll be up at 8am Monday or else cancelling my card. Every time I called Athena back there was no trace of my calls to set up said account when Andrew said he was able to find my case number. Becky admitted they take their calls when they don't answer which doesn't make sense to me when Athena Protection denied that. read more

Please note, these people go by different names but that's what shady "companies" do. This scammer sends this junk mail to us every couple weeks. They claim "this is the last notice" and then another one comes in a week or two. They try to pass it off as if we're a customer of theirs and they want us to renew the "warranty" we have with them (that we do not). I have contacted these shysters numerous times. This is the first letter they've ever sent us that actually has an address, the previous ones has zero info about them- literally nothing but a phone number. When I called the number they would not give me any info about their "company." I was asking the guy on the phone, who would literally not let me finish a sentence, what their address was and he kept saying "we're off the interstate." When I pointed out to him "you want me to give you my money and personal info but you literally have a company and you will not give me your address" he was screaming at me "I gave you the address!!" "We're off the interstate" is not an address but that's what scammers do. They do not want you to have any info on them. I called a few other times the last two times I got the same guy, "Brenden" who claims he's removed us (but he never did). This time I got him, he asked for a reference number, I asked for his name, he said "Brenden" and then hung up. The one guy I called to get our address removed after I gave him the reference number was asking me all kinds of info and I asked him, "if we're already a customer (according to their letter), why would you need all this info?" and he hung up. The first time I got this letter from them, I contacted our Mortgage company and they said it was 100% a scam. They do have a couple different addresses under slightly different names but it's all the same scammer. I have opened up a BBB complaint against them. Check out their yelp reviews (here and under their other names and addresses) - it's all the same, one star, scammer reviews. Check out their BBB account - also get ripped for being scammers. Also note the "California License" they list on the document is literally fake - it's not a real license for anything. It's just a number they made up to make the thing look real. The sad thing is unsuspecting people fall for this type of scam and get locked into some fake warranty that does nothing. Please be careful of these shysters. If I could give no stars I would. Was lied to by the person selling me the coverage it was either 30 days or one thousand miles. It was denied when filing a claim and was told if I fixed the issue I could get it covered later along the line so I kept im the coverage instead of canceling like I wanted that was a lie. Was told it wasn't covered a second time after additional mileage. Now I can't get a full refund because they fought me the first time when I tried to get a refund. I have not even fully filed a claim now I can't get my full refund even though it's during the grace period time. Avoid at all costs. read more

This company is a scam that targets senior citizens by sending them fake warranty expiration notices in the mail. My 86 year old grandmother receives one of these fake notices from this company in the mail every week. She doesn't even drive her car anymore, which is a 2011 Cadillac with over 100K miles on it. She bought it used so it was never under any type of warranty while she owned it. There are several other scam companies that do the exact same thing. In the past she fell for one of their scams & paid an insane amount of money for an extended warranty. I had to contact them & argue with them on the phone for over an hour to convince them to give her money back. They kept denying it was a scam & refusing to give her a refund but I eventually convinced them by telling them she was on fixed income & couldn't afford this fake warranty. If you have elderly people in your family, please check their mailbox for one of these scams and report it to the Better Business Bureau. read more

These people crack me up. They've been sending my 98 year old mom, who is blind (let that set in for a moment) these extended warranty notices. I finally called to tell them how spectacular it was that they would provide an extended warranty on a car for a blind person. I had high hopes for this warranty insurance company, but they deeply disappointed me. I took their coverage on a car that had 97,000 miles on it, and bought 100,000 miles or 5 years of warranty coverage. They charged me over $2400 for the policy, and let me break that up over 24 payments. After 9 months of paying, I couldn't redeem for any repairs though I tried several times, and finally cancelled the policy for a refund of the amount paid minus the time used. They did send me the refund in about 4 weeks, but kept the money for the used policy period. Now the reason not to buy this warranty - it's got too many exclusions that make it possible for this company to turn down ANY claim, even those for parts of the car they said were covered, like the engine, transmission, water pump, etc... You see, if you don't do the maintenance that they require in the policy according to certain mileage levels they prescribe, and keep the documentation that you did it, they can use that to deny your claim. They want oil changes more frequently than most people would normally change the oil, plus other services. Same goes for transmission fluid changes. If they find out about something wrong with the car, even if they don't cover it, because they know about it and record it on your file, you are required to make that repair on your dime or else it voids the warranty. If something breaks on the car that is not covered and causes a covered piece to break also, then the covered piece is not covered also. They don't cover anything caused by a gasket failure. Well, Heck, that is pretty much ANYTHING in the engine, right? Everything in the engine has a gasket on it, and that is usually the failure point when you first notice something is wrong with the car, a leaking fluid. Also, they won't do a repair on something that is beginning to fail, only if it has completely failed. If you are beginning to use alot of oil, or white smoke is coming out the tailpipe, most people would say that is a rings and piston repair job, right? But they won't pay for it unless the engine has completely failed. But since they now know about the oil usage or white smoke, you are required to make the repair yourself on your own dime or it voids the warranty. Pretty much the only way they will pay is if you do the maintenance according to their too frequent schedule, keep the documentaiton, and there is a sudden catastrophic failure of the engine or tranmission. How often does that happen? I've never heard of it before in 34 years of owning cars. Cars almost always give a heads-up sign that something is going wrong, like leaking fuels, an unusual sound is made, handling is different than usual, acceleration is different, etc... This company pretty much is setup to advertise, sell policies, have customer services lines to deny claims, and that's it. That they give you refunds for unused policy time is their only saving grace, and probably the only reason they haven't been shutdown yet by district attorney's in various states. I don't think you should buy this policy, as it really isn't usable in any real way. That was my experience with them. Can't recommend. Buy another car if yours starts having troubles. This warranty isn't a viable option for you. You'll waste your money. read more

My 93 old mother passed away a few months ago and her mail is being forwarded to me. I received a piece of her mail from HOME PROTECTION DIRECT - an "IMPORTANT NOTICE" and was their "FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU." The letter was to "inform you that the property's home warranty may have expired." And that "Without a home warranty in place, you are at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs. However, you still may have time left to activate a Warranty on your home before it's too late." The letter even contained a "Customer ID" number even though my mother was never a customer. This is clearly a misleading letter meant to target vulnerable senior citizens and is repulsive. I called the company and their response was to take her off the mailing list. Read the other reviews here...why would anyone do business with this company with such unethical business practices? I am off to report them to the State Attorney General's office, the FTC and the Better Business Bureau. read more

Horrible Customer Service when cancelling a policy that was a scam on an elderly woman.

I received a card in the mail that was for a 2017 Chevrolet Trax LS which I do not own, nor have ever owned, I called they asked me what kind of car I had I told them a 2007 Nissan Versa. They gave me a 5-year quote for 700 and some odd dollars I cannot afford that. I went to the internet to search the company to check out their ratings found most of their ratings are bad. I called them the next day ask them to put me on the do not contact list and to cancel the policy that was set to be paid for on February 12th 2021 and the guy got an attitude with me and said that he hopes I have good luck with my car since my car is 14 years old. read more

They put the extended warranty on a vehicle that I no longer have. When we called them they were extremely rude!! When we told them that we were going to get a lawyer because they were refusing to reimburse us they said, "good luck." If anyone have a legitimate contact at this company please let me know. The two representatives that were belittling and beyond rude to myself and my grandmother (of all people) were Andrew Parker and Jason Civota. They make you feel uncomfortable.. because they are very pushy, they do not take No for a answer and very rude on trying to talk you into getting this service protection. My husband didn't want to because of that and I talked him into getting the protection. Having warranty is always good. Really he just called the number on the flyer sent to our house to find out about it. Never told us much.. just selling it. Once purchased. I waited to get the information about this business to know more.. was told we can cancel within 30 days with a refund. Which we had decided on to cancel. Husband called and told Shawn (888-312-1149 extention 7019) he was calling to cancel on the phone for like 20 to 25 minutes. Husband had to constantly tell the guy I'm ready to cancel. The guy kept talking and then told my husband if you want there is my direct number call me if you have any questions. So My husband goes wait.. did you cancel this for me and he goes, ohh.. no, I thought you wanted to think about it. Which he kept telling this guy he wants to cancel and he is certaint he's ready to cancel. The guy then.. sometime in their conversation asked him why did my husband sign up with them and it costs the $83 or eighty something dollars to send out the information! Which we did not need that information. Then kept telling my husband that the stuff they sent was their gift to us for signing up and you don't have to send it back. Basically wanted us to send what ever they sent us back to them but my husband was more worried about if the guy was going to cancel it. They guy never said confirmed the cancelation or if or when we would get our money back. So my husband asked him is it canceled already? And Shawn goes.. "well.. thats what you wanted. That's what you called for??" Not a professional company!! So I asked my husband to call back and ask when will we get our refund.. he talked to a lady and was told it will be processed today 09.14.2015 the day we cancelled and takes 2 business days to receive our refund. Today is 09.18.2015, still no refund in my account. Husband called they said for some reason it was barely processed and we should have our money by the end of today. No money still. When We signed up My money was taken the very second so why haven't I received my money back yet.. ?? After talking to this company from the start.. not knowing what this company's name was because it was unclear other than what it covers and how much would our payments be, we as me and my husband asked to give them a call back so "we" can talk about it and decide if that's what we wanted to do and the guy on the phone wasn't trying to hang up was ignoring everything that he and I was saying., he was so rude that my husband had to hang up on him. DO NOT under any circumstances purchase a auto service warranty from this company. They also do business as Marathon Group. I had the misfortune of getting a warranty from these individuals. I paid my monthly premiums on time for 17 months.One of the terms of the contract was I had to wait 30 days and 1,000 miles before I could make a claim. Fast forward 1year and 1104 miles later I had engine trouble I took it to a dealership to have the truck diagnosed. I found out I had to agree to be responsible for the cost of the tear down of the engine and the warranty company would reimburse me IF they approved the repair of the engine.(Red Flag).Needless to say they didn't approve the repair,claiming it was pre-existing before the warranty purchase.There was no way I could have driven the vehicle for over a year and eleven hundred miles with the engine knocking the way it was when I took it in. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SERVICE PROTECTION DIRECT!! When I bought my extended warranty contract, I was told that I could cancel at ANYTIME for ANY REASON for a "full" REFUND minus any claims that were on my account. After two years, my account was paid in full and I had been denied 2 claims. Those claims were denied because the "terminology" (i.e. the name) that the dealer uses for parts and what SPD had in my contract were "different," even though they're the SAME THING!!! After two more denied claims, I tried to cancel my account. Not only were they rude (I was told "Good luck with that! 'Cuz you're gonna need it!!), they told me that I would get less than $100 of my original $2k+ for my contract due to "time and mileage" on my vehicle plus a $400 cancellation fee, that they were going to CHARGE ME!!! My vehicle has only 30k more miles on it than when I purchased the contract, two and a half years ago!!!!
