Lack of communication on project. Does not respect home. Does not complete all task on work order but charges for them. Insurance utilizes them but they are not professional. Job completed had flaws but we were so happy to get rid of them we just let it be. They didn't even clean the paint splatter off my screen doors. We had water damage resulting from a leak in our attic. Our insurance company sent out ServiceMaster. Ricky has been amazing- responsive, reliable and honest. Sure, it's not fun to have to have jet engines running 24/7 in your house during summer- but I'm thankful that this company had the equipment to do the job, and that they made the process as painless as possible. They were available via text and phone, checked in on us throughout the drying out process and kept us apprised of the process. I chose Servicemaster because they were one of the higher rated water restoration companies in the area. But after my experience, I can't recommend them. Throughout the whole process, I felt like the company saw me as another job in an overbooked scheduled instead of feeling like I was a priority. Some days no one would show up, and often I didn't get a heads-up in advance that no one was coming. Other days one person would show up for a few hours, then go to another job. There was a gap of about three weeks in between water mitigation and rebuild where we were just in limbo. I think three different estimators came out, and two different site managers were assigned to the job. If they had dedicated a crew of a few people for 8 hour days, it would have easily been completed in a fraction of the time. The job took more than three times longer than estimated, and kept coming in higher than estimated at every step of the job. The guys that came to the house were nice enough, but the whole process felt like no one knew what was happening. The painter didn't communicate with the site manager, who didn't communicate with the office, etc. The final job was mediocre. Somehow it felt slow and rushed at the same time. We had some of the poor work redone or fixed, but at the end of the job, I was just over it. It was months of unnecessarily slow progress that I was ready to be over. Maybe our job wasn't big enough or worth their time, but I wish they would have told me ahead of time that they wouldn't dedicate the resources that should have been dedicated to it. I would have gladly looked for a different company who would have put in the time and effort. read more

Horrible company with poor work and business ethics. They flooded my home while doing a repair as my insurance companies "preferred provider." What a joke. They ended up bidding the job on the damage they created and then fought me tooth and nail on the repairs. They also submitted fraudulent estimates to my insurance for work they never completed. I gave one star because there is nothing lower. I recently had ServiceMaster come out to my home because I had a backed up toilet that ruined my carpet in the bathroom, hall and living room. They removed the carpet and put everything in the tub to dry out. Later they sent somebody out to give me an estimate to replace the damaged material. At that time I told them that I would also like to go ahead and pay extra to replace the carpet with tile. I have no idea what this estimator did because I never got an estimate. Then their Construction Project Manager came out and again I told him that I would pay extra to have tile installed rather than replace with carpet. He said that he would need to speak to somebody. After a month, I called ServiceMaster to ask about the status of my job and I was told that their Estimator tried to contact me and couldn't and he told them that I decided to go with another company. I told them that nobody contacted me and I had no clue what company to go with since they were recommended to me. I then spoke to their Estimator and again he said that he could not contact me. I asked him to please update my phone number to my cell phone which I keep with me at all times. He said that he had Covid so it would be a while before he could come out and give me an estimate. That was in February, it's now May and my bathroom is a mess. Bottom line, DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. read more

We had a water filter break while we were on vacation. My grandson found it and we called Service master. They came out to clean up the water and let mice in while they were cleaning up. I later trapped 9 mice. The process of putting our house back together took almost a year. When settling up on the bill they would not let you see the figures so you could not tell if they owed you any money after every thing had been paid by the insurance company. Save yourself and your house from ServiceMaster! I had a water leak from my AC in my attic. I called service master to make the necessary repairs. They finally were able to come to my home to begin the process one week later. They completed the drying process which included a 10'x10' hole in my ceiling which I understand was necessary. However, once that portion of the job was complete they told me it would be over a month before they could finish the job they had started. Furthermore, upon initial meeting I was given an estimate for the job but was failed to be told that in reality it was only an estimate for half of the job. I called and spoke to Hector who could not understand my frustration and made no effort to correct or improve the situation. Overall a horrible company with horrible customer service. I will be having a different company finish the job. Save yourself the time, money and headache. read more

This was the third time in 20 or so years that our family has had an occasion to use Servicemaster at Bakersfield. This time as in the past it was an emergency situation which required Servicemaster's experience. Our main contact this time was Fred Garten, the Residential/Commercial Cleaning Manager who is absolutely a true professional who managed the the entire cleaning process from start to finish with great care. Never will I use ServiceMater again. Had water damage from the A/C drain on 6/11/2019 got an estimate in two days for mold mitigation. They did not show up for over a week and then they tore out the walls and ceiling in the bathroom with with some I guess was mold put their dryers in it for s week and then did the mold mitigation. Had they started that sooner like when they were called maybe there would not have been a problem. Now we are in The month of July and the bathroom is still not repaired and when some one does show up it s for a short time. We are now into the month of August and the job is still not done. They call say someone will be there no one shows numerous times no show. Now some of the repairs have been done but it had to be redone as it was not done right. Now we are into the month of September still not complete. I will never use this company again. They are polite enough clean up the mess they make but the no shows are a pain in the ###. service Masters never ever go with ServiceMaster they mess up and charge you for their mistake ordered peach paint for my sewing room they painted it pink and charging me $200 to repaint it and another 100 dollars if I want it primer so they don't paint over the pink not only pink Pepto bismol pink .we have a mural painted by Judy wofford Deems in our living room and 3 walls painted with faux finish and baseboards with a faux finish they had to take out the baseboards but they were told to take them out carefully they ripped the baseboard and ripped the walls up 7 in their way of fixing it is putting in 6 in baseboards instead of the 3 and 1/2 baseboards I had in there but are going to be stained and not faux finished. Our vanity was destroyed by the flood their guy is charging $3,000 to build a new they told us go get a vanity put it in install it install the faucet they ain't going to do it we have to go with their guy when we when we only had a $1,000 to replace the vanity we had to pay the extra 2,000 crap.and we've been out of our house since April promised me they would be done by August 3rd and they're still not putting our floor in until the 19th of August . When our house was over taken by sewer water, Service Masters was there for us! We have Liberty Mutual insurance and as water is pouring out all around me from a bad toilet, I called my insurance and they set me up with service masters who showed up at 10:45 pm to clean, dry and sanitize our floors, do all the paperwork there and set up all the machinery necessary to dry the floors fast and clean the air. They also took pictures of all the damage and filed the report for us. They were amazing people who were great throughout the entire process! The best part? My insurance paid for every dime of it, didn't have to pay a deductible either. read more

We were on vacation and our rental washer sprung a leak and flooded our rental. This happened when we were on vacation. Our renter called out service master. She asked for a estimate for the cleanup. She was told $200-$300. They came out and did the work and charged us $400. When she challenged the ending cost they basically told her she was never told that estimate. She had sent us a text telling us what it could cost. Where would she get that price if she had not been told 200-300$$. I don't mind having to clean up a flood, on brand new carpet, but I expect a business to honor what their representatives tell a potential customer. First the setup of all the fans to help dry out our house after our flood was ok. Quick response time and was happy with the service. Now comes the issues... What happened to contractors wearing shoe booties to keep from tracking in dirt to your home?? By the time they left the high-traffic area of our carpet was black and stained! There was an area rug they assured us they would take to their warehouse and clean and return to us. They hadn't returned it after about 3 weeks so we called to inquire where our rug was and they would clean it and scheduled to drop it off at the end of the week. They didn't show up to drop it off so we called and they said they would come by another day at 8am. No one showed up at 8am, so we called at 10am and they said "oh, we'll make you the next stop". They finally showed up with the rug at 11:30 (ruining half of my work day waiting for them). Lastly, that area rug WAS NOT CLEANED! It smelt so bad when we brought it into the house we had to immediately put it outside. It left a pile of dirt under it where we had unrolled it on our tile. It smells like they left it on their warehouse floor for 3 weeks and let ferrel cats urinate on it. We spent 2 hours cleaning it ourselves in the driveway and had it professionally cleaned by another company and it still reeks. read more

Thankfully we have never used ServiceMasters for any serious emergency disaster, although they've helped clean up my kids vomit off the bunk bed , onto carpet w a 5' radius splash zone. I guess in some circles that would be considered disastrous, but with small kids at home, it's just biz as usual. Have used SM for our home and business carpet cleaning and they've always been very professional, prompt, and courteous regarding our personal property. We came home from vacation late one Sunday night to an extensive flood in our home. The Service Master team was here within an hour. I used to think Service Master only cleaned carpet. Nope. They did everything except the actual repairs. They packed everything, and even did the demo in preparation for the renovation that had to be done to our home. Even in the midst of the mess and chaos, they were tidy and organized. They were extremely courteous and considerate of us at every step of the way throughout the tear out and rebuild process, and available to us at any time of the day or night, any day of the week. They cleaned a 1500 sq foot house billed $360 it was the worse cleaning job I've ever seen they didn't even vacuum. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. I had ServiceMaster clean my carpets last week. At the time of cleaning the smell of the cleaning solution was so strong had to open all the windows in the house. Now here it is 7 days later and the smell is still very strong. I've tried various methods to get rid of it with no luck. Now I'm paying another carpet cleaning company to come out tomorrow and see if they can get the smell out! read more
