Called Servistar, what I suspected might be a leak due to water bill getting higher each month. Michael came the next day and was VERY DILIGENT and THOROUGH in trying to figure out the problem. After looking at everything he said let's ask about the toilet in the back once more and sure enough the user said yes, they were hearing sounds from the toilet. Well it turns out the toilet had been self flushing but the user never reported it. Michael replaced the flapper and fill valve and then rechecked the meter and it was stable. Viola! Thank you!! Also, while he was under the house he found that the drain line in the kitchen was leaking (badly) when the water was turned on due to big cracks in the line. He took video and pictures and showed me. This had nothing to do with the increased water bill but something that needed addressing. Thank you again to the best plumbing team! read more

Revising my review of 5/1/25 to "Stay Away" . Michael, the owner called after my poor review and sent Tyler back to try and solve the problem at no extra charge. Hot water problem seems to solved as best as possible with Rinnai tankless system. New advice....tankless water heaters way way over rated, primarily because a common problem seems to be how long it takes to get the hot water flowing. Tankless systems may work better in brand new houses which are specifically built to accommodate tankless. read more

I unfortunately didn't call them immediately but I did they said the would charge me again. I was referred to Servistar by a friend and they truly exceeded my expectations. I had previously purchased a three-stage under-sink water filter that was installed incorrectly by another plumbing company. Despite multiple attempts to get the issue resolved, that company never followed up. I contacted Servistar and spoke with Adam, explaining the situation and sharing photos and videos of the installation. Adam immediately got on a three-way call with one of their technicians, Tyler, who carefully reviewed everything remotely. Before even knowing the full extent of the issue, Adam's first response was, "Let's see if we can figure this out over the phone so we don't have to charge you." I got a quote and then went out of town, leaving my decision for when I get back in town. I got a call on Monday morning, did not pick up. Same number called immediately back again. Did not pick up again so they could leave a message. I had called Sal to schedule an on-site visit since my bathroom plumbing was making weird noises. They were able to come out by the next day (hence the 1 star review). I had told them that my unit is tenant occupied and would need the plumber to call me after the investigation to walk me through the issue so I can confirm the next steps. The plumber comes out, I get a call from the front desk (technician) quoting that the consultation would cost $275 since the plumber would need to take the faucet apart. This is very high compared to other plumbing services (usually it's around $150). However since they were already there I approved it. however I explicitly asked again if the technician can call me afterwards to walk me through the issue and confirmed the work was done. Neither of those things happened. I received a text from the tenant about an hour saying the plumber had left and the issue was still present. He didn't monitor the work so not sure what the plumber completed. Then shortly after I receive an texted invoice that my expected "repairs" would cost $1200+. Still no communication on 1) what the issue is and 2) the repairs suggested. I left a message with the front desk the next day asking the plumber to call me back. Still then I've only received text reminders and a voicemail from the front desk about my overdue inspection bill. TLDR: Poor customer and plumbing services. Really great at repeated reminders of overdue bills. read more

Had my sewer pipe clogged just from time and use. Called these folks Friday at noon and sent one of their best employees for the job and arrived in a few hours. Got a good price quote to also replace 2 toilets. Dominic was the plumber that came through and worked hard on a Friday night with a 5:30P.M. arrival time! The supervisor Thomas came out to my house later in the evening to help Dominic out and finished the job by 1015p.m. Thomas did recommend a "clear out" and showed me w detailed video cam of my sewage pipes 75FT. down. Usually wouldn't write a review for a company that I didn't end up working with, but this is a buyer beware situation: Called three plumbers to help me fix a leaky pipe under the kitchen sink. Sal Plumbing and Rooter was the quickest to respond and sent a tech out the day after Christmas. The tech quoted $3,900 for the job (replace hot and cold leads to the sink as well as several feet of the hot and cold main supply lines near the corroded and leaking area, plus replacing drywall). I told the tech that I would need to get a competing bid since that was way more expensive than expected, and he reduced the price by $1K immediately. Obviously I wasn't going to work with someone who padded an estimate by that much and the reduced price was still fantastical. Got the job done for $400 total (similar scope) with another licensed plumber and handyman for the drywall. Don't know if this was a problem with the company or just the tech, but definitely advisable to always get a few bids! read more

Never, ever use this business. My initial request was to repair my Rheem water heater that was still under warranty. Sal was among the list of repair services that Rheem suggested to troubleshoot the problem. In order for Rheem to authorize parts, one must work with one of their authorized plumbers. Neither Mr. Cohen and sons nor Rheem's troubleshooter were able to pinpoint the heater's issue without sending out 'possible' replacement parts. Each time a part was replaced Mr. Cohen wanted to charge a labor fee. Mr. Cohen was emphatic that the trouble was a Gas Co problem, it never was. The replacement parts did not resolve the problem. I ended up talking with Rheem, they agreed to replace the still warrantied water heater. Mr. Cohen was going to charge me $1500 to do the work in addition to the $575 he'd already charged for nothing. I had a chat with Rheem's corporate office about this debacle. They agreed to refund me the charges incurred through Sal Plumbing. Thankfully they made good on Sal's very poor and exorbitant customer service. read more
