I really wanted to love this place because my first visit was actually great. Unfortunately, every visit after that has gone downhill. The first time I visited with friends, both the dispensary and lounge were enjoyable and everyone was friendly. The second visit was completely different. We brought someone who had never been before, and there was almost no customer service from the dispensary. Once upstairs in the lounge, we had a reservation but were seated at a tiny table that didn't fit our party. Our server brought water, took our order, and then disappeared. Our food came out before our gravity bong, and despite sitting there for quite a while, we were never checked on once. Meanwhile, every surrounding table received attentive service. The host was the one who noticed we needed water and helped us. After waiting a long time for a manager, we eventually had to walk to the host stand ourselves. The manager was fantastic. She apologized, comped part of our bill, gave us complimentary lounge passes, and promised our next visit would be a VIP experience. That was honestly the only reason we decided to come back. Unfortunately, our next visit wasn't any better. We stopped by the dispensary to purchase a hash hole that was advertised as 40% off. I also had a $15 promotional reward emailed to me after the previous experience. The email states the reward can be used at checkout within seven days, but nowhere does it mention that it can't be combined with existing promotions. At checkout I was told I had to choose one or the other because they don't stack discounts. The issue wasn't even losing the $15. It was the lack of transparency and the continued lack of hospitality. We weren't greeted, the host seemed bothered that we were there, and the budtender barely acknowledged us while focused on the computer. At this point, the common denominator has been inconsistent customer service. The lounge manager did everything she could to make things right, and I genuinely appreciated her professionalism, but unfortunately the overall experience has been disappointing enough that we won't be returning. If management focuses on creating a more welcoming experience and trains staff to be more attentive, I think this place has a lot of potential because the concept itself is really cool.

2nd time coming to Sessions and it's always a vibe! I've gone during the day and at night, and I honestly love the darker atmosphere--the lighting and colors look so dope, especially with the clouds of smoke around. The food is really good too--chicken tenders are top tier. Only thing I'll say is that with bigger crowds, the wait can be a little longer. This time we had to wait a bit to order, but once the host realized we hadn't been helped yet, she quickly got someone over to us. Other than that, it's always a great time. Also, big shoutout to the guy with the sophisticated mustache he went out of his way to educate us on the different types of strains, helped us out a lot, and even put us onto the sales and rewards system!

    There are always events here!

Dude, Where's My Dispensary? If you're a fan of the Lord's Lettuce such as I, then I urge you fellow cannabis connoisseur, to sit for a session. As soon as we walked in, the gentleman at the greeting booth signed us up (1st timers get discount). Dude! As we perused the apothecary's wares, we were advised of the specials & lounge activities. Sweet! Our bud-tender showed us around a la Willy Wonka pointing out the latest & greatest in mood enhancing medicine. The snozzberries do taste like snozzberries! After choosing an assortment of edibles, pre-rolls, and such, our ganja guide advised us if we purchased in-store products, we could enter the lounge free & enjoy said newly purchased products (otherwise it's only $5/person). Walking through the halls to head upstairs to the lounge, we were greeted by several pictures of the Sultans of Smoke. From Cheech & Chong to Willy & Woody. The indoor lounge is a hip cozy vibe in and of itself with several booths & tables available. We chose the outdoor patio, as it was a warm San Diego day. There was a Drag Show that weekend, but alas, we had other plans. Check their website for future events. Also might want to RSVP in evening to avoid a wait. We walked in & got lucky that someone just left. The food! Burrata Margherita flatbread for the munchies & a Dank Diego a sweet & sour aperitif to satisfy the arid palate. But this drink is infused with the dank, not the drunk (10mg THC). We eventually decided on the Churros with ice cream, because of course we aren't leaving without dessert! All this, mind you, while a DJ spins some grooves to maintain your mellow, man. The curiosity got us here. The excellent service, selection, and sounds will bring us back! TL:DR - You're ganja have a good time.

B E H O L D . T H E . " C O U S I N . W A L K " Have you noticed how Thanksgiving has now turned into, like, a stoner fest. With half of the family sitting at the table... lit? What started as a secret trip to smoke weed before dinner by only the hedonists... aka the "cousin walk"... has mushroomed into a full-blown normie thing. A cousin walk sounds so wholesome-- like something you do holding hands in matching sweaters collecting butterflies. But what it really is-- the cousins are out behind the garage getting baked before dinner. Your Uncle Carl and Aunt Trudy are already too drunk to even notice. And then there's "Green Wednesday"-- the day before Thanksgiving where people stock up on, uh, essentials. It's the second-biggest sales day for Dispensaries after April 20th. We used to reserve that Wednesday to buy some last-minute gifts, or socks, or cranberry sauce. Now it's like, "Can you pick up some discount gummies for Grandma?". Honestly, I get it. You need something to survive all of the arguing about vaccines, tariffs, and Uncle Howard's throuple situation. At some point you're like, "You know what, I'm gonna go check on the cousins." They're easy enough to find, look for the scent of a Bob Marley tour bus. So yeah, Thanksgiving. Family. Food. Frolic. If your cousin sees a perfectly stuffed turkey approaching the table and starts chin-salivating, if he relishes in plucking the marshmallows off of the yam casserole, or if he audibly moans over a perfectly composed bite, it's clear he's on the half of the room that's... lifted. Enjoy your turkey America. Prop65 Warning: The first rule of the cousin walk is that we do not talk about the cousin walk. The second and third rules are, you know, the same. So you didn't hear any of this from me. Pro tip: Sessions by the Bay is the most innovative cannabis dispensary I've seen. They carry all the things-- flower, pre-rolls, edibles, extracts, and tinctures to brighten your world. Add in movie nights, VIP tastings, and bay-front dining (fee-to-eat? so that's minus 1-star) and you've got yourself an unforgettable holiday experience. Bring the cousins.

Visited Sessions by the bay over the weekend. It is just a short drive from the new Gaylord Pacific hotel. So if you're visiting from out of town, you have a convenient place to legally smoke and eat. Since it was our first visit, we didn't know exactly what to expect but the staff was so helpful from greeting to checkout. We were greeted warmly upon entering and had to fill out a few waivers and show ID. After that, we were welcomed into their dispensary with so much selection, you could find anything you wanted from traditional flower to bath soaks and mints to bowls and pipes. They had a special going on as well for new customers. We made our dispensary purchase with Ruby so was seemed friendly and down to earth. She advised us to check out each restroom as they were all painted and decorated differently. We loved all the artwork and the bathrooms were pretty clean. On the way to the lounge are more smaller rooms with dispensary-specific artwork, some in a more vintage style. Great for photo ops. Once at the lounge, we were seated inside and took in the forest vibes. The music was loungey yet comforting. The air flowed really well so while we were smoking, we didn't feel like we were sitting in anyone else's smoke. The outside seating area looked fun too. It would be a great place to catch a sunset. We enjoyed the breakfast burger, fries, and sweet potato fries. The food was pretty good and we loved that breakfast was served all day. We did wish there was a plate underneath the fry baskets as crumbs and oil got all over the table. There is a 90 mins time limit for seating. Service was a little slow, so make sure you know what food and drinks you want right when you sit down. Parking spots are a bit narrow so don't bring your oversized SUVs or trucks (or better yet take an Uber/Lyft). It's only 21+ so we enjoyed the kid free night.

Nachos (more like carne asada waffle fries) definitely delicious

Got to experience the cool tastings they have for different brands. I really enjoyed this experience since I don't usually venture out to try new brands, and even new devices! They had a vaporizer and gravity bong which was super cool to use. I didn't really like the fact that they had an admissions fee of $10 in their Resturant, or spend $75 each at the dispensary. Thought that was interesting... it would make sense to make that count towards the check. Our server was great, I'm glad I was able to communicate to her that we were in a time crunch to make it to a concert and once she got that, she was on top of putting in our orders and getting us right on our way. I appreciated that greatly! The food was decent, I had the ahi tuna crispy rice, and a salmon dish which was great as well. Maritza who was in charge of the tasting table was very friendly and smoked us out really well!

Took a trip down to San Diego from my sisters birthday, I can easily say that this is the best part of the trip! Everything about this experience since the second we walked in was great. There's plenty of parking for such a large lot so that was great. As of now, I believe there are two floors that you can visit; The first being the dispensary and second floor the restaurant area. Staff was very friendly, answered a lot of our questions about the products we haven't seen before in the first floor dispensary! My sister wore her birthday sash and we got lots of compliments and some pop-up booths even offered free product products for her!! (LOVE THAT) Once we purchased our items, we made our way up to the lounge area. Staff were very friendly, I made a reservation and the process to go in was very smooth. We got seated almost immediately and our host was AMAZING (I forgot her name but she had black straight hair with lots of tats on her arms & a padres hat- love her)!!! The food was delicious and the drinks you can order with the infusion that can be saved or mixed in. There's so much to say about this experience. I loved every part of this and will definitely be coming back even as a non-SD resident!

Love this place!! The vibe is super chill, all the employees are very friendly. I've been here a couple times. Definitely a good place to come a relax, no rushing. Food was great, portions were larger than expected. Will be back again.

Love this place. Downstairs is the shop and so much to look at and buy. Ask for first time special. Upstairs is where you can smoke and eat. It was a bit confusing on if needed reservations but we were sat at the bar and not charged for entrance due to how much I spent in the store. The chicken tenders and sidewinder fries were a perfect accompaniment to a pre roll

Came here for comedy night and it was so much fun! Free entry with purchase at the dispensary. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the burger and both were so delicious. The service was a bit slow however. Every part of this place is so beautifully decorated. Can't wait to come back for movie night!

Sessions by the bay... first love the name! My first time visiting a cannabis lounge... wow what a vibe! My friends and I came on a Friday with a reservation! We started out downstairs in the grocery store.. that seriously had the biggest weed selection I'd ever seen! It was huge! So many products. Vapes, drinks, flower, etc! The people working were so nice! After finding everything we wanted we went upstairs to our reservation! The upstairs is so well decorated it's a vibe... this place legally can't serve alcohol! But they do have THC/ cbd drinks! The food was good.. we tried the margarita flatbread pizza which was amazing and the pretzel bites with beer cheese also amazing! We also go the fish dish that was terrible. Our waiter said it was good.. but I think he was high! Overall- everyone was just stoned out of their minds which I think made it a fun experience! The place is clean, well decorated and literally just a vibe!! If you are 420 friendly in San Diego or visiting come have a session!

I want to start with the positives, because most people will agree: the decor, location, and overall vibe are great. That's what keeps people coming back. I've been here over five times and intentionally waited to leave a review because I wanted to give the establishment a fair chance. Unfortunately, the service has been very hit or miss. The last three visits were especially disappointing. We were seated in the back booths where you can't see the stage or performances. I even suggested to my sister to tell the host that they need to add TVs in those areas so guests don't feel disconnected from the experience. In a party of seven, two people weren't given menus, waited 8-10 mins before I got up and got one. The pretzel bites were dry all three times we ordered them. One of our visits was for a birthday movie night while Step Brothers was playing, which should have been a fun, smooth experience but it wasn't. On our most recent visit (just yesterday), I actually told my friend that the service seemed to be improving because a few staff members were very attentive. However, that changed when the bill came. We ordered a bazookie for dessert after a long day. Because there was a sign downstairs saying "cash only," I went to withdraw cash. I placed the cash in the bill holder and waited about five minutes for someone to return. When the server finally came back, we waited another 8-10 minutes for our change, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. When she returned, she dropped the bill quickly and walked away. When we opened it, our change was given entirely in quarters. Yes, it's still money, but it made it difficult to leave a proper tip, especially since two other staff members had helped us that night when our server wasn't available. I wanted to tip them properly and give credit where it was due. To add to the frustration, I accidentally left my jacket. I called for five days straight and left multiple messages, as did my sister, and never received a call back. This place truly has the potential to be a 5-star establishment, but the inconsistency in service, food quality, music, and follow-up really takes away from what could be a great experience.

    Yes!

Can you smoke there at the dining area? Don't see it mentioned anywhere?

you can, smoke green, but you cannot smoke cigarettes anywhere inside.

    Do they have alcohol too?

No, there is NO alcohol. They have tinctures for the cocktails they make but only cannabis.

They also have some seats at the bar. This restaurant has gone all in on the space theme, from the hostess greeting to the decor in the restaurant and restroom, and even the menu and tables. Such a fun vibe! This place is known for their cocktails. I forget what we ordered because they all have funny names, but both my friend and I really enjoyed our choices. The food was great too. We ordered the tofu. I think it had a light tempura fry, yummy sauce, and very large portion. The bread is roti with an eggplant and tomato dip. Very good, but not enough dip. I'd still order it again. Probably the only negative was that I felt a bit rushed to leave. We were enjoying our conversation, entrees, and drinks and got checked on quite frequently. Eventually the waiter said, no rush but here's the check. Kind of ruined the vibe. We decided to pass on dessert here and walk to an ice cream shop in the same neighborhood.

The single worst experience I've ever had going out…read more If you're friends with the servers, bartenders, or hosts, you'll probably have a great time. If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

From the spooky, dark, skulls old school ambiance and decor, to the experience of not ordering from a menu, everything about it made it feel unique and curated making it feel like a true individualized experience. As mentioned, there are no menus. We sat at the bar, the bartender makes casual conversation with you regarding the types of drinks you enjoy. He curated something for both my husband and I based on what we shared we enjoyed. The drinks were delicious. The entry was very cool! It felt as if you were entering a hidden spot - which you do. When you enter the restaurant, you let the hostess know you're there for the Noble Experience. She let us know to head to the wall with the kegs (which is actually a door). You enter and there's a small waiting area where you're greeted by another hostess. This place is a 20/10. We can't wait to return on our next visit to SD.

Exceptional Hosting by Keagan at Side Bar and Gaslamplighter!…read more If you are planning a corporate event, team-bonding outing, or just looking for an unforgettable night out in San Diego, you absolutely need to visit Side Bar and Gaslamplighter. Our team was in town for our quarterly QBR last quarter, and we went out afterward to let loose on the town. We randomly came across Side Bar on a Thursday night and met Blake the manager who introduced us to Keagan, who completely transformed our entire trip. He was the ultimate curator! He immediately assessed our group's vibe, realized we were out for team bonding, and invited us right in, securing a fantastic VIP booth for my team. After a few shots and grooving to great music, he personally ushered us over to Gaslamplighter for a change of scenery, where we spent the rest of the night enjoying amazing drinks and live karaoke. The experience was so incredible that on our second night out, after hopping around various other bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, our team unanimously decided to end our night right back at Side Bar. Once again, Keagan took flawless care of us. He hooked us up with another booth and a few bottles. We happened to be celebrating a team member's birthday that night, and Keagan made it unforgettable. The staff brought out the full VIP treatment with bright sparklers and "Happy Birthday" signs to close out the night in style. What makes Keagan so special is his attention to detail. Even while working a packed club and making his rounds to ensure everyone was taken care of, he constantly circled back to check on our group. He made every single person on our team feel incredibly important and looked after on both nights. We walked away with fantastic pictures, amazing team memories, and a strong desire to return. Shout out to Keagan and the exceptional teams at both Side Bar and Gaslamplighter; memories were truly made! I highly recommend these venues for any group outing in downtown San Diego.
