We had a holiday party here and it was wonderful! It's a smaller bowling alley, but everyone had a great time! The food was really great and the service was top notch. The guys were ready to help if there were any issues! We had like 40 little kids so it was a lot to handle! One thing to note is this bowling alley is a hand scoring bowling alley. My review is only for the food side of the business. I have not bowled in any of their lanes. They have a great outdoor patio with plenty of tvs to enjoy during the summer months. We typically sit outside every chance we get. The service is good especially since I think we have the same waitress every time and she may be the only one that works there. She may also be cooking my food in the back since she is the only one I ever see. She is great for usually being the only waitress there. The food is fresh and very good. We always enjoy the meal and the potato options. I am partial to tater tots so that's where I lean. Definitely will be back again. read more

We had so much fun here this past weekend! We had some time to kill before driving out to Valparaiso and figured we'd bowl a game. We're from Chicago. Prices are by the house. So cheap & shoes were included (I think weekdays $5/person/hour and weekends it's $10). Small bowling alley connected to a bar. About 6 or so lanes, all manual. It was fun to manually keep score! I went there because my son has been using the bowling for $10 an hour including shoes which was really nice. Four of us came and I had a rum and cook from the bar and that was one of the worst running coats I've ever had. Then we ordered four menu items where the burgers are half off. I ordered a pulled pork and I told her I wanted the sandwich with tater tots. She said sliders.. and I got confused. So I got what look like nachos with tater tots and pickles. So I took five bites and took it home. Got overcharged. Didn't give us the half price on burgers. Good thing they were able to fix it after we told them. Was debating on where to go with my best friend after dinner and as we drove by the place we noticed it was hopping! The music and people dancing at the outdoor patio area was enough to draw us in. We ordered some drinks at the PACKED bar and the female bartender was pleasant and kind for how busy it was. We then proceeded to find some empty chairs and listened to the band. I totally love the retro feeling of the inside. After meeting some friends we sat at a table and had a waitress, (Linda I believe her name was) and she was great. This place is awesome! For a Wednesday evening it seemed very busy, but that had no affect on our service...our waitress was on it! It was busy because on Wednesdays the wings are on SPECIAL, but for DINE-IN only. Which I don't see a problem because if there is an open lane you can bowl, if not play pool, or (if you're of age) have a beer on their OUTDOOR PATIO. You can even press your luck playing a crane game and try to win one of their large variety of different small stuffed animals. The atmosphere is very friendly, sports orientated filled with excitement and positive vibes. When it comes to important football and baseball games, I'd guarantee it's on (if not, just ask). I love bowling and it's perfect for toddlers. They have everything you need when it comes to those who can't roll the bowling ball down the lane themselves. The wings are absolutely fantastic! I could leave no stars and write a review I would. Karlo our server ignored our table and went to other tables around ours. It took 30 minutes to get pop refills. Took over an hour to receive our food after we placed our order. Once the food arrived it was under cooked wings,burnt nachos, unseasoned dry fries and ordered food that never came. Told them my Buffalo wings were undercooked and once they came back another server told me they put them back in the deep fryer with sauce on there still and put new sauce on there that so happened to be cold like it came out The refrigerator. I did not expect this at all. We went to Rock 'n Rail festival and were pretty underwhelmed by the music and lack of places to sit, so we went to the patio at Set Em Up. It was very busy and we were seated at the farthest table from the front. We waited around 15 minutes to be noticed and had made up our mind to leave and take our chances at the fest when the manager came over and asked if we had been helped. When we said 'no' he told us he would be right back. He came back with Nicole and told us that the waitress who had our table was busy with huge tables and Nicole would be our server. She apologized for the wait and we ordered a couple of beers and our food. Sharon got Polish sausage and saur kraut and I got Indonesian Noodles and added chicken. The menu said it was sweet and spicy Asian noodles with a fried egg on top plus the chicken. Nicole came out right when our beers needed to be refreshed and we ordered a couple more. The food came out and looked great (my egg had a hot sauce smiley face on it) but we had no silverware. After 3 people trying to find silverware Nicole ran over with plastic forks, real knives and napkins. Then it happened. I took a bite. The Indonesian Noodles with smiley face egg and chicken was the best dinner that I have ever ordered at any restaurant! This was not our first time here but we had gone to the back of the menu for sandwiches and never even noticed the entrees before. The entire time I was eating my Noodles I was floating through the air like a cartoon dog that got a dog treat! Highly recommended!!! Your average bar, they recently expanded their deck/outdoor area which is awesome besides the music being a tad too loud and makes conversation difficult at times. The food is really pretty good- definitely bar food, but good. Great place to hang out at- especially outside. Indoor bowling lanes are older but fun with a group of friends. I visited yesterday and I am very disappointed. I've been here twice before and have had wonderful experiences. The first time the waitress was amazing and food was delicious. The second time we are on the heated patio and the food was great and so was the service. I cannot say the same for yesterday. We weren't greeted upon entry but we proceeded to the bowling counter. We got our lane and was told someone would be over to take our order. We waited for a while and I found a waitress standing at the bar window and asked for a menu. I also asked if she would be able to take our order. She said no and the bar staff takes it. We continued to bowl the whole game and after the one game we decided to leave. I take the menu up to the counter and inform them that no one had taken our order. To which he responds " oh my bad".... Uhhh what happened to customer service. I really did enjoy this place before but I won't be back. Especially if they aren't interested in serving customers. read more

Yeah, I know... Bowling? Set 'Em Up (formerly Bowl Arena) is an 8 lane bowling alley and lounge in beautiful downtown Griffith, Indiana. I used to be in a league here and love this little bowling spot. Retro is a kind way of saying old. New owners and new attitude! I planned an evening out for my drivers and made it a Mystery Event as they would have said LAME and not shown up. They could not have had more fun! The place is clean and well maintained. There were no issues with breakdowns which is amazing as this is a vintage alley. The graphics scream '70s but the back area has been updated. The batherooms are not fancy but freshly painted and again, clean! Jane and Tony (some of the owners) made the evening fantastic! For $20 per person, we got the whole place to ourselves, unlimited bowling, shoes, food and beer. They kept the beer flowing and did an amazing job of serving 44 people from the tiny kitchen. You cannot beat the food prices - $4 for a burger and fries and it was really good bar food! There is a ton of fried appetizers - not my style but I still couldn't resist the poppers. If I could give NO STARS I WOULD. Matter fact I AM. Went out for a night of fun. Soon as we walk in, the lady working there looked at us and turned the lights off to the other lanes. As we get closer she says, "can I help you" I said yeah we're looking to bowl, she scratches her head and said sorry, we don't have any open lanes because the league is just finishing up"...mind you someone's grandad and grandma were bowling in ONE LANE. There were NO OTHER PEOPLE BOWLING and there is no indication of it having been a large crowd and the hours went until 2am. Meaning there were about 7 lanes open. UNOCCUPIED. And it was only 2 of us so we could have occupied at least ONE OF THOSE 7 empty LANES. Only people in the establishment were the guys drinking at the bar and the two people at the one lane. I'm not sure if we were turned away because we are of Melanin decent but that s*** was insane. read more

I love the outside area and the updated inside seating area, but something has got to give. Their food is great, but the wait is terrible. We have never been warned that the kitchen is busy and we go there frequently, they know us. We're getting very very frustrated with it. I know they've rearranged things, but either hire more people or make changes to make it much more productive. If nothing else, WARN CUSTOMERS that it's going to be at least an hour wait. read more
